Susan Lucci's mother is 103 years old

She can be the new "So young" poster.

She looks like Tamar Hoffa, mother of Susanna.

by Anonymousreply 1August 29, 2020 1:55 PM

R1 You mean Hoffs, not Hoffa

by Anonymousreply 2August 29, 2020 2:00 PM

103 and such lustrous brown hair!

Who’s the grey haired woman with her?

by Anonymousreply 3August 29, 2020 2:02 PM

I thought Susan was only 102?

by Anonymousreply 4August 29, 2020 2:11 PM

Susan really needs to cover up. Those bony arms are scary.

A little body fat and a jacket would make all the difference.

by Anonymousreply 5August 29, 2020 2:13 PM

103? So she had Susan when she was what -- 64? I mean, Susan is only 39.

by Anonymousreply 6August 29, 2020 2:14 PM

Wow. Good genes.

I bet Susan is always trying to get her mother to dye her hair some gravy-brown so she can look “younger”.

by Anonymousreply 7August 29, 2020 2:29 PM

She looks great for 103, seriously.

by Anonymousreply 8August 29, 2020 2:32 PM

I'm good with her being the new "so young" torch holder. She has a certain glamour.

by Anonymousreply 9August 29, 2020 2:43 PM

So young.

(Test run!)

by Anonymousreply 10August 29, 2020 5:16 PM

Sue, now that we got rid of that hag Krissy, our show has some money to play with. For years I've been asking Ken to cast my mother, Martha. Interested?

by Anonymousreply 11August 29, 2020 5:21 PM

R11 Dee! I didn't recognize you through the cloud of cigarette smoke!

I've just been hired as the new Ciara Brady, dear.

by Anonymousreply 12August 29, 2020 5:23 PM

Are you sure it wasn't Caroline Brady's corpse, snookums?

by Anonymousreply 14August 29, 2020 5:32 PM

Susan, honey, I'm not going to "let go" until you win a second Emmy award for your acting.

by Anonymousreply 15August 29, 2020 5:40 PM

Hold my Polident.

by Anonymousreply 16August 29, 2020 5:42 PM

No, dearest, I understand they've asked you to do that, Dee.

Before your makeup, of course, and without those 6 gallons of Vaseline on the lens. You are such a trouper and a professional!

by Anonymousreply 17August 29, 2020 5:42 PM

Wow she’s nothing but a baby still.

Her mother is 103 and she an only child is 73. Like women her mother’s age waited until they were 30 to have children. Lucci is 80 if a day

by Anonymousreply 19August 29, 2020 6:13 PM

I thought Lucci was dead!

They both look great. I'm guessing Susan Lucci pays for the best assisted living place possible, which is what money is for. If they can enjoy a glass of Champagne together, that's really nice.

by Anonymousreply 21August 29, 2020 7:27 PM

Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 22August 29, 2020 7:43 PM

It pays off to be a bad actress I guess!

by Anonymousreply 23August 29, 2020 7:44 PM

[quote]Susan really needs to cover up. Those bony arms are scary.

Starving was en vogue among the AMC cast. David Canary at times looked emaciated.

Lucci would look fantastic if she didn't show as much skin. Her face work is stunning.

by Anonymousreply 25August 29, 2020 8:02 PM

Too Young

by Anonymousreply 26August 29, 2020 8:21 PM

If I subtract the sad 18 years my poor daughter Susan lost the Emmy, then I’m just 85 years old.

by Anonymousreply 27August 29, 2020 9:05 PM

WHY is she in assisted living? surely susan is wealthy enough to have her mother live with her and have literal 24/7 hospital expert care?!...and that includes doctors and nurses and hospital equipment and medicine too!...

by Anonymousreply 28August 29, 2020 9:08 PM

"WHY is she in assisted living? surely susan is wealthy enough to have her mother live with her and have literal 24/7 hospital expert care?!...and that includes doctors and nurses and hospital equipment and medicine too!..."

Otherwise know as a burden. No thanks, I wouldn't expect/want that from my kids.

by Anonymousreply 29August 29, 2020 9:17 PM

How much money did soap actors make back in the day?

by Anonymousreply 30August 29, 2020 9:19 PM

R30 Lucci was one of a dozen or so who were most assuredly in the million plus a year club.

Toward the end of AMC she was probably making half that.

Most actorswere more likely to be making between 100K-250K range in the 80s.

Of the remaining stars today, a few at Y&R and GH *might* be making 250-300K.

by Anonymousreply 31August 29, 2020 9:27 PM

That's not much R31.

Lucci only got one Emmy, not sure if that gave her leverage in contract negotiations. Michael E Knight and Julia Barr got 2 Emmys each. D Canary got 5! and he played 2 characters on the show. If they only got a million per year that ABC gig was a bad deal.

by Anonymousreply 32August 29, 2020 9:35 PM

lucci has done tv movies and of course various selling products as well as her soap career..

R29.... perhaps the mother WANTED to be in assisted living and to NOT be a "burden" ... however looking at lucci's thoughts and anyone else who has to go thru this with their elderly parents, how could they be okay with their aging mother in such a place, no matter how great a place it is? personally i would be ashamed and sad about it... comes across as selfish on lucci's part..especially when yes, she has the wealth to make it NOT a burden on her, susan that is!..

by Anonymousreply 33August 29, 2020 9:42 PM

Those assisted living places are probably equipped with 24/7 nurses, doctors specializing in aged care. Something you just can't provide in a private home.

by Anonymousreply 34August 29, 2020 10:14 PM

Ma Lucci on Assistance

by Anonymousreply 35August 29, 2020 10:17 PM

[quote] how could they be okay with their aging mother in such a place, no matter how great a place it is?

Some of those places are really nice. I went to one that an older friend lived in. He took a small group of us to lunch in the dining room. You can order pretty much whatever you like. Fruits, vegetables, etc., are all available whenever you want. Also, like R34 says, they have a better set-up to help you if you're sick.

I think Kathy Griffin's mom was in assisted living and I think it's well-known that she doted on her mom.

by Anonymousreply 36August 29, 2020 10:58 PM

Assisted living is usually several steps up from a nursing home. Also, at the level Lucci and Kathy G probably paid, the care was likely exemplary.

Most nursing home horror stories are from families who have elderly parents/grandparents in a facility that's low cost and probably makes its money from Medicare/Medicaid. In those homes, those residents *might* see an employee for two or three minutes a day, might get two meals if they're lucky. Those are the homes where the uncooperative get slapped or punched and the ill sit in their own leavings for hours.

by Anonymousreply 37August 29, 2020 11:06 PM

David Canary got interviewed by the television academy around the time Frons slashed the salaries on AMC. Between the lines it was easy to hear he wasn't satisfied artistically anymore with what he was doing on AMC. He still stayed with the show till 4 years before he died. They probably paid him handsomely up to the end; when dementia made it impossible for him to work anymore.

by Anonymousreply 38August 29, 2020 11:17 PM

So sad that he got dementia and died. He had one scene on the new AMC and apparently it took all day for him to do two minutes with Julia Barr.

by Anonymousreply 39August 29, 2020 11:19 PM

Damn. She looks good for 70

by Anonymousreply 40August 29, 2020 11:21 PM

I was ready to RIP Susan apart about the assisted living until the thoughtful posts above...

I had no idea how posh some facilities could be!!!

Susan is so odd to me- such an interesting chick. So saccharine sweet and gracious, but there has to be some VENOM underneath all that. The Sarah Michelle shit is proof of that.

Her Helmut is and LOOKS as old as a dinosaur, but her mom is in assisted living and not living in their huge mansion??.

Her face work is IMPECCABLE. But christ, in a few years she will be 80!!!!!!!

In a perfect world, I bet Susan is FAR more interesting and complex than she lets on...

I would love to hang with that bitch for one hour and learn the truth. And I would find It out.

She is SO fake, but just waiting to let loose!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 41August 29, 2020 11:37 PM

Canary really loved doing scenes with Julia Barr. They were electric on screen, best AMC couple. I always wondered whether they were cushin - pushin on the side.

by Anonymousreply 42August 30, 2020 12:01 AM

Assisted living is, again, better than nursing homes.

AL is really an apartment building for seniors that allows them to always have someone around, alarm buzzers in their units if they need help, etc. But otherwise, they are still independent, can have guests most of the day when they want, etc. I bet Jeannette's building has more flexibility than my HOA !

by Anonymousreply 43August 30, 2020 12:15 AM

I have a father who is 80. I wish he was as healthy looking as Susan Lucci's mother. Really puts things in perspective, you live a little then get old and if you're lucky-you meet your maker without getting sick-and die.

by Anonymousreply 44August 30, 2020 12:21 AM

David Canary was a friend of the gays.

She looks okay for 70 but mostly it’s due to the wig. I’ve seen better 70 year-olds.

by Anonymousreply 46August 30, 2020 1:03 AM

Lucci needs to pay more attention to her wigs...that one is falling off

by Anonymousreply 47August 30, 2020 1:46 AM

I wonder whatever happened to the project Julia Barr and Jill Lawson were working on. Barr was a tremendous actress who should not have wasted her talents in soap operas.

Living unassisted until age 98 is pretty amazing.

by Anonymousreply 49August 31, 2020 10:19 PM

The woman at r48 could play an actress called Bonnie Franklin in something.

by Anonymousreply 50August 31, 2020 10:20 PM

Assisted living homes are very nice. A couple relatives of mine were in one and it was like living in a posh hotel.

by Anonymousreply 51August 31, 2020 10:22 PM

La Looch doesn’t want old mom in her home.

by Anonymousreply 52August 31, 2020 11:15 PM

Does she vote Republican too?

by Anonymousreply 53August 31, 2020 11:17 PM

Lucci is in fact 73, she started on AMC right out of Yale Drama in 1969, my mother was a huge fan of her and the show and actually remembers the day she started.

Her mother looks great for 103. The assisted living place she's parked in is likely very high-end, there are many of these and it's like living in a country club. I'm sure La Lucc wouldn't spring for anything less for her mom.

So many women are living much longer: Olivia de H is one example. Catherine Denueve's mother is still alive in France at 108, I just read the other day that Robert McCain is still ticking at 108 as well. Spielberg's dad just died last wk at 103. Good geriatric care equals long life nowadays.

by Anonymousreply 54August 31, 2020 11:25 PM

Lucci's husband is also loaded, they have plenty of $$$ to keep the old lady in the most high-end kind of place.

by Anonymousreply 55August 31, 2020 11:34 PM

Her mom seems to be very independent and probably prefers living on her own terms since she still seems to be relatively with it mentally for her age.

by Anonymousreply 56August 31, 2020 11:37 PM

As long as we don’t have to takethe old battleaxe in.

by Anonymousreply 57September 1, 2020 12:38 AM

It's not like I stuck my Mother at the Pine Cone Motel (I didn't let Phoebe, Myrtle or Palmer live with me either).
