Have an DLers thought of doing a travelogue in the style and manner of States of Desire (Edmund White) or Tricks: 25 Encounters (Renaud Camus is now a nasty right-wing piece of work but the eponymous book was a landmark when it appeared in )? Do you know anyone who is? In States of Desire, published in 1980, White traveled across the US, met guys for sex, and wrote about it. Camus's book involves encounters in France, New York, and elsewhere, and was published the year before in 1979. I know there have been videos along these lines, and perhaps someone did update White's book in the late 90s, but I'm curious to see whether you've heard if anyone is trying this or if you're interested in doing so yourself. Neither book is that racially or ethnically diverse, and White's only focuses on the US, though he does hit small towns, I think, while Camus is mostly in bigger cities in Europe and the US. Both books seem almost prescient about the self-focused, tell-all culture we live in today. Also, what would it mean to do it as a mature man vs. being young (20s or 30s, as White and Camus were)? What would make it novel for the 21st century?

I definitely remember that. I wonder if someone would do a global version and video it.
