Many thanks Miss OP. Simply wonderful. Put a big smile on my face.

Judy wore the most unbecoming clothes in the 60s.

You think she really was a witch and put a curse on her? Naaah!

One of the perks of being an eldergay is that I watched that when it originally aired.
Judy was guest hosting Merv Griffin's afternoon talk show and she brought Margaret Hamilton, who was sitting in the audience, up on stage for a brief reunion.
Judy's guests on that show included Van Johnson and Rex Reed.

From IMDB . . .
This episode was videotaped on Dec. 19, 1968 in New York City. It would air in most syndicated markets on Thursday, Jan. 2, 1969. This show is believed to have been erased. All that exists today is silent color footage shot from a television and an audio recording.
Judy Garland sang "I'd Like to Hate Myself in the Morning", and later an impromptu solo rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "The Trolley Song" with all the guests.

Sort of embarrassed for Hamilton to have to do that witch laugh almost 30 years later on command, like a pet monkey.

Of course they did.

People like Margaret Hamilton fascinate me. Having regular work as a character actress during the golden ages of movies and TV. I wonder what their daily lives were like. What kind of houses they afforded.

It was still scary enough to get her banned from [italic]Sesame Street[/italic].

Margaret was so cool, though. I saw an interview when she was retired and she was a sweet woman. She hated that children were scared of her, but loved that she played that iconic role.

Did Judy toss a glass of water at Margaret?

I feel that way for Carol Burnett, when her fans always want her to do the Tarzan yell. Always hated the Q&A part of her show, because someone would invariably ask her to do it.
Hamilton was always gracious wherever she appeared, everyone responded to her most cordially. Seeing her on "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood" was a treat.
Could that Merv Griffin show have been any gayer?

More likely she threw a snifter of Vodka down her gullet to wash down those dolls.

You mean in ways TV would actually let you show in 1968?

R12, Jim Backus must have gotten tired of constantly being asked to do his Mr. Magoo voice.

And whatever memories R4 shares with us. Very cool.

Ms. Hamilton lived in Chelsea or at least did her banking there. My Dad was the branch manager at Chemical Bank in London Terrace in the late 60s and I met her when I was 6 or 7 when I was at his office. She was a high net worth client for the branch and she did not have to wait in line for a teller, she always got an officer to assist her. I was scarred of her.

I also remember watching it.
Moms Mabley was also a guest.
What I remember most is that Judy sang "Merry Little Christmas" seated at the desk but forgot the words.
The next week Mabley was again a guest on the show and mentioned it to Merv, making fun of Judy.

I can see her being treated special because of her celebrity, but I'm surprised she would be high net worth.

Or someone asking Judy Garland to sing Over the Rainbow.

Emotionally or mentally?
