For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.

by Anonymousreply 10August 11, 2020 6:10 PM

It should be the "haves" and the "have aughts."

by Anonymousreply 11August 11, 2020 6:20 PM

OMG R8 leap into a grease fire. Not every thread needs your OCD bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 12August 11, 2020 6:35 PM

Did you read the title, R12???

Completely relevant to this thread.

I always say "Early 2000s," though, never "Early Aughts."

My grandfather was born in 1888 and he referred to the 1900s as "the aughts", which he said was the common usage among his contemporaries. He'd also say "aught" when stating a date with a zero in it: "The San Francisco earthquake in nineteen aught six". So I grew up hearing the term "aught" but my grandfather was dead by 2000 and I haven't heard it used for that decade. It sounds quaint now.
