Why didn't Patrick Swayze release an album following the success of "She's Like the Wind"?

The song was a big hit from the massively successful soundtrack, Dirty Dancing.

He could have capitalized on its success and released an album. Don Johnson released the hit single Heartbeat a year earlier but also issued an entire album (and sang a duet with Barbra Streisand not long after).

Patrick could sing and dance, in addition to acting. And he co-wrote "She's Like the Wind" as well.

He could have given Michael Jackson, George Michael and Bobby Brown a run for their money on the pop charts! I'm sure he made many a frau moist with this song.

Why didn't he do more music?

I loved that song, frauey as it was. I liked the atmosphere, the melody, and the ladies vocal. The weakest part of the song are Swayze’s vocals which sound over produced but still, it’s very nostalgic. I assumed he’d make more music, like Don Johnson.

btw, that Don Johnson album is pretty good you know. There’s a great duet with Bonnie Raitt on it “A Heartache Away” with guitar by Stevie Ray Vaughn.

He was an amateur singer.

"She's Like the Wind" was the weakest part of the DD soundtrack.

My sides, OP! Yeah, I could really see Patrick Swayze competing with Michael Jackson and Bobby Brown for The King of New Jack Swing crown.

Pop Radio in Early 1988 was awful with Patrick Swayze and Richard Marx dominating the airwaves. And Tiffany and Debbie.
