Decent actor? Much scandal?

Decent actor? Much scandal?
by Anonymous | reply 66 | October 29, 2020 12:05 AM |
Loved him in Casino. He really helped make that film what it is.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 5, 2020 4:55 AM |
No scandal. Respected and liked among his his peers.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 5, 2020 4:57 AM |
His house is vile.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 5, 2020 4:59 AM |
Not gay. Not handsome. Not interesting.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 5, 2020 4:59 AM |
He’s lost his ute.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 5, 2020 5:02 AM |
No, not a hunk (at least to my tastes), absolutely never fancied him in the slightest. Absolutely not a DILF.
Decent actor, yes, definitely, in fact a great actor. No idea about scandal, I dont mix in them sort of circles
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 5, 2020 5:03 AM |
Short, with a generally annoying voice. I suppose that's why he made a memorable character actor, or maybe it was the bad wigs.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 5, 2020 5:05 AM |
Plays sleaze very, very well. Perhaps too well.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 5, 2020 5:06 AM |
He was an investor in Jersey Boys. Made out like a bandit.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 5, 2020 5:08 AM |
Not attractive in any universe but a good actor. He OWNED Goodfellas.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 5, 2020 5:08 AM |
He did a lot of crap films after Goodfellas.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 5, 2020 5:10 AM |
Love goodfellas and casino.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 5, 2020 5:12 AM |
Played Vinny LaGuardia Gambini in the classic lawyer comedy MY COUSIN VINNY. Marisa Tomei played the girlfriend, in her breakout movie. Practically every lawyer in the US can quote entire pages of that filmscript.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 5, 2020 5:17 AM |
Marisa Tomei, meh. Jack Palance read the wrong name when announcing the best supporting actress winner.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 5, 2020 5:31 AM |
r13, I've actually found the film cited in a U.S. District Court case.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 5, 2020 5:35 AM |
Brilliant in Goodfellas although he never quite rose to those dramatic heights again aside from Casino.
Terrific comedic actor in Home Alone and the Lethal Weapon series, and of course, My Cousin Vinny.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 5, 2020 5:36 AM |
Much enjoyed seeing Pesci again (out of retirement) in 'The Irishman.' Resonances from earlier Scorsese of course, but his performance was brilliantly assured and deft. Oscar nomination well-deserved.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 5, 2020 5:41 AM |
At what point did grandpa become synonymous with dad?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 5, 2020 5:54 AM |
r8 What are you suggesting?!😮😁
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 5, 2020 6:52 AM |
A hothead, sure, but never hot.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 5, 2020 7:00 AM |
He’s supposed to be really nice. Very talented.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 5, 2020 7:09 AM |
Girl, just no.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 5, 2020 7:15 AM |
That's obviously Danny DeVito at R22.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 5, 2020 7:19 AM |
A good actor and fun to watch but never attractive. Seriously, you thought DLers might have had a crush on him?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 5, 2020 7:25 AM |
R14 Why the bitterness G. - you weren't even nominated!
Anyway, even is Mr. Palance read out Marisa's name by mistake (which he didn't) she deserved they Oscar and has certainly proved her acting chops over and over again.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 5, 2020 7:42 AM |
He used to be in a relationship with Brian Littrel’s wife from the Backstreet boys. Brian is a devoted goody christian country boy who is also a republican and she chnage for him.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 5, 2020 7:43 AM |
One week after Sinead O'Connor ripped a photo of Pope John Paul II in half on SNL, Joe Pesci hosted and said: "It was very lucky she wasn’t on my show, ‘cause if it was my show, I would have gave her such a smack. I would have grabbed her by her eyebrows."
Fuck him!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 5, 2020 8:57 AM |
Fresh facelift in Casino was very distracting.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 5, 2020 10:35 AM |
Not handsome, not ugly. A good actor in exactly one part that he’s played approximately thirty-seven times. No real scandal, but I sometimes think he’s up to no good, somewhere.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 5, 2020 10:39 AM |
Memorable as David Ferrie (in bad wig and fake eyebrows) amid the queer set in 'JFK.'
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 5, 2020 11:03 AM |
A name I never thought I'd see here
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 5, 2020 11:09 AM |
I remember him from way back in 1983's "Easy Money" with Rodney Dangerfield, J J Leigh, and Geraldine Fitzgerald. If you've never seen, then see it - funny shit
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 5, 2020 11:29 AM |
R33 “Who am I? I’m the guy who put the bathrooms in here”
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 5, 2020 12:31 PM |
OP, you can google and find pictures of him “in the day” before embarrassing yourself by asking if he was “a hunk.”
Seriously, are you blind? He’s a 5’4” character actor with no attractive features.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 5, 2020 1:00 PM |
was he any good in the Lethal Weapon films?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 5, 2020 5:26 PM |
He's a fantastic actor. So underrated. His performances steal the whole movie.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 5, 2020 5:28 PM |
Isn't he an outspoken deplorable?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 5, 2020 5:37 PM |
[quote] Isn't he an outspoken deplorable?
[quote] I would have gave her such a smack. I would have grabbed her by her eyebrows."
Yes R38, I rather think he may be.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 5, 2020 5:53 PM |
He hasn’t made any statements about Trump that I know.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 5, 2020 5:58 PM |
All the characters in 'Goodfellas' would have voted for Trump proudly, and expected an invitation to the White House. Trump would have obliged with pleasure. Very fine people!
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 5, 2020 6:12 PM |
I wish them well.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 5, 2020 6:13 PM |
r40 True
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 5, 2020 9:26 PM |
[QUOTE] was he any good in the Lethal Weapon films?
Of course. Leo Getz couldn’t have been any more different than the character for whom he’d soon win his Academy Award: Tommy DeVito in Goodfellas. Viewers and critics were stunned that this was the same actor when Goodfellas came out a year later. His continued presence in the Lethal Weapon movies really helped carry the franchise forward.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 5, 2020 9:46 PM |
R33 and R34 beat me to it! Held his own with with Rodney Dangerfield brilliantly.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 5, 2020 9:56 PM |
What r30 said. He is good at playing exactly one role. The Irishman was unwatchable.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 5, 2020 10:05 PM |
Cheers r44
Am I right in thinking he used to date or be good friends with Liza Minnelli?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 5, 2020 10:14 PM |
Not scho, R47. To mutch of a Guido.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 5, 2020 10:20 PM |
Haha - I just finished watching "Easy Money." I loved Rodney Dangerfield as a kid. Still a funny movie. The zingers come flying from everywhere. He and Phyllis Diller - I also loved Phyllis Diller when I was just a lil kid. I'd just look at her and start laughing.
- R33

He's been great in every single thing I've ever seen him in, and rumored to be a very decent and kind man.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 5, 2020 10:33 PM |
Seems to play the same character over and over. I don't think he has much range and has been lucky that his short, tough-guy, funny-voice seems appealing.
I honestly don't understand why he is so admired or has the career he has had.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 6, 2020 12:25 AM |
How did someone with that voice get typecast as a mob boss?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 6, 2020 5:12 AM |
R52 mob bosses come in all shapes and sizes.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 6, 2020 9:13 AM |
Yes, Joe Pesci always seems to play a scrappy little hot headed Italian. But love him anyway ....
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 6, 2020 10:30 AM |
Would you like to personally tame him r54?!😉
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 9, 2020 6:31 AM |
So why did he career end in the mid 90's?
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 9, 2020 6:41 AM |
Stall rather than end r56
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 9, 2020 6:46 AM |
What does he think of the gays?
by Anonymous | reply 58 | August 9, 2020 6:52 AM |
huh? since when is Pesci straight? common knowledge that he is gay and closeted -- came very close to fake marrying Angie Everhart ~15 years ago, has a son, keeps to himself and plays golf 24-7
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 9, 2020 7:02 AM |
Fucking fantastic in JFK. And of course My Cousin Vinny is a charmer.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | October 28, 2020 9:00 PM |
I never liked him AT ALL. Foul mouth, irritating voice, not attractive or compelling to watch in the least.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | October 28, 2020 9:07 PM |
His then wife Claudia Haro had a small part in Casino as the topless showgirl announcer on Ace's television show. She learned her character too well. Soon after they divorced and she moved on to the next guy. She murdered him but got away with it.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | October 28, 2020 10:29 PM |
[quote]So why did he career end in the mid 90's?
His career didn’t end, he retired, I think he may have even released a statement back in the late 90s. Gene Hackman is another actor who retired but unlike Pesci he hasn’t made any exceptions.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | October 28, 2020 10:34 PM |
Neither fuckable nor watchable. Scorsese hanger on par excellance.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | October 28, 2020 11:03 PM |
"Was he considered a hunk in his day?"
Ha ha ha, are you fucking kidding? NO, never. Pesci was a character actor and never had to be or show what a sex bomb he was, ha ha. Everyone mentions his succession of wigs, how about the more than obvious FACE LIFT he had before Goodfellas?
by Anonymous | reply 65 | October 29, 2020 12:01 AM |
Forgot to add - he's from Joisy, and aside from being a musician, he was once a hairdresser* and a friend of Liza Minnelli's. Guess he wasn't gay enough to be a Minnelli husband.
* hairdressing, typical Italian guy job
