Yes, watching the fall of Ellen Degeneris has been done its best to fill the gossip void, but don't forget the thing about being held to a higher standard.
Anyone LGBT, anyone of color, any immigrant, any female, anyone with a poor education or low social class, any one of *us* who makes it to a high-level job or actual circles of power, will even today be treated a bit differently than straight white well-born well-educated man. They'll always be the new kid, the outsider, the test case, and as such they'll be judged more harshly and forgiven less. Yeah, Ellen got away with a hell of a lot for a long time, but not as much as she thought she could.

What?. Ellen got away with her shit for a really long time. I remember years ago reading the rumors of her being an angry drunk, abusive to Portia, and the whole no one could look at her. At the time the mainstream would jump on any slight critique of her. She had so many rabid stans. She’s just like any other high profile money making asshole, behavior is tolerated as long as she’s bringing the $$$. Her fall from grace now, is the fact who knows when we can have studio audience shows again, and she’s getting a tad long in the tooth/her act has run its course She would be better suited on a show about house flipping

She didn’t turn on the community by supporting Kevin Hart. Nor did she do anything wrong by sitting with W and being friendly. Change happens when people learn to show kindness to those who have persecuted and passed judgment on them on the past. You can’t change everybody’s mind about gays, but if you can leave a positive impression on just one bigoted person It’s an accomplishment.
