I do somewhat feel sorry for those in their late teens and early 20s now (Gen Z?). They grew up in a post-9/11 world and never knew of a time before toxic social media. The world could not be more bleak at this moment when they're at an age where they're supposed to be the most hopeful and least cynical. Thankfully, most of them seem to reject Trumpism, but the coarseness of this era must have some sort of lasting impact.
