Am I a bad person?
I have found myself increasingly, actively wishing Covid-deniers dead, at least a speedy, empirically verified one. Wishing people dead is not the type of person I am, or at least wish I'd not be.
With all of the mask denial and horrific examples of Deniers willfully exposing themselves and others who try to struggle against or even to please them, I'm getting so, so angry.
When Cain died I thought GOOD! Maybe the GOP might wake up and be at least a little more reasonable. Then along comes Gomhert, the MOST CERTIFIABLE lunatic in Congress behind Jordan, requiring a no mask policy, exposing staff after positive dx, and using the Members' gym post-dx. And did you know he SLEEPS AT HIS CAPITOL HILL OFFICE B/C HE WON'T RENT LODGINGS. He probably pockets his allowance all the while sickening others.
So yes, I want him dead SO, SO bad. I keep thinking as more families struggle with the pain and loss for deceased deniers and have retracted their previous idiocy, maybe more will and see the light.
A few key deaths starting with Cain's might save an immeasurable number of lives in the long run?

Everyone thinks "bad" or vindictive thoughts. What makes us a good or bad person is how we act on those thoughts.
Supporting whoever is running against that person would make you a good and honorable person, for instance.

OP, I feel the same way. You are not a bad person.

Schadenfreude is appropriate in some contexts.

do you wish general, run of the mill people dead because they don't wear masks or whatever, or just limit yourself to wishing the ones responsible were dead?

I relate to this. I am someone who is frequently accused of being “too nice,” but lately I have found myself thinking similar thoughts out of pure frustration with the insane president and the selfish and ignorant citizenry. I can’t believe this is happening, it’s disappointing to find out what assholes people are. So it’s not just you, it’s a byproduct of this ridiculous situation.

My feelings are sometimes similar, but seldom that personal. We're in a very fraught time. I see things in natural cycles. Species proliferate when life comes too easy, but mass die-offs are inevitable in those situations.

I'm just feeling that nothing ever happens to these horrible people in power right now, and their trashy cunty followers. It's only natural to wish that they would get some kind of just desserts for their fuckery. I wish they would all die at this point.

These people want to die Their wish is coming true.
We need less people like this.
And they deserve it. Every bit of it. Not only did they deny science, facts and the truth, they worked tirelessly to spread the virus to as many people as they possibly could. They are domestic terrorists and murderers

It's less than charitable but as they endanger other people's lives, I forgive you my son.

If you are, OP, then I'm an extremely bad person.

I do the same and I can live with what that may say about me as a person.
Unfortunately, the only way for most of these virus deniers to get on board and flatten the curve is if more children start dropping dead from it.

[R13] Went to visit my father, in his small town Midwest home, this week. Around the corner the local middle school, was holding football practice. Definitely no social distancing. This, despite all the local festivals being cancelled. The poor kids will be dropping like flies,

I presume, though, that if you were in Herman Cain's hospital room, you wouldn't pull the plug, even if you were guaranteed that no one would find out that it was you. The world is not changing a bit from your wishes.

When you're 20 a 1% death rate seems unimaginably risky. When you're 40 you'll take those odds, but not 5%. At 60, you'll take 5% but not 10%. By Herman Cain's age, it has to kill more than 30% to put any fear in people.

Cain died of colon cancer according to his doctor.

As R1 states, it's quite natural and common to have such thoughts. It's best you don't allow them much "air time" in your head however. Acknowledge them, then let them go. Do not ruminate on them either with guilty emotions for having had them in the first place, nor with too many creative details in your mind's "what if..." possible scenarios.
I've never really believed most of us are [italic] either [/italic] good or bad. We are complicated beings, with many possibilities. With the exception of a select few: murderers, rapists, sadists, we are more than likely a mixed bag of good and bad qualities. When you choose not to act on bad thoughts, and discourage them, you are choosing good.

That's okay with me. Their parents don't give a shit about them, I don't either. See how that works

Now they are saying that tall people are more susceptible to serious infections. I wonder if the virus starts to dissipate as it becomes airborne and drops to the ground. Maybe that’s why kids have a lower infection rate. But guaranteed, once kids are together in groups we will see more infections and deaths among children.

there's a difference between wishing people dead, and doing something about it. I certainly wish republicans would die. But if I were in a situation where, for instance, one fell onto the subway tracks, I would do everything in my power to save him. You are welcome to all the dark thoughts you want (in fact, they may be good for you). Just don't act on them.

At least you have a conscience and self-awareness, OP. It’s human to feel anger. I have mean thoughts when I’m angry and feel thwarted or powerless. Don’t dwell on them or the fact that you have them.
Just feel the anger so you can let it pass. And forgive yourself for your negativity.
These are trying times.

You may be a bad person, but not for this. Herman Cain deserved to die early for his embrace of Dump. All Dump supporters deserve death.
