I read The Mirror and The Light (fantastic; although it sags a bit in the middle, the end is wrenching; reading Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies, the first two books in the Cromwell series, isn't necessary, but why wouldn't you, they're all so good). And I read an excerpt from Shuggie Bain in The New Yorker -- very good, if more than a little squicky, which was the point.
