OP /R13 Answering a poll allows the option of adding explanations or further comments. Polls are good because a person can simply make a choice with no comment OR can make a comment. I've done it often. I don't know why some upthread commenters are not acknowledging the fact that you can vote in a poll AND comment.

I prefer to view the site on my desktop, but I use my iPad from time to time. I think the page was redesigned to make it more friendly to mobile devices, but I don't agree. Believe it or not, but this site used to have one of the best set ups of any message board out there.

I have a vision of someone in a dark room, where the only illumination comes from a desktop computer. The person at the computer is wearing pajama pants and an old undershirt. Cats wander around the room exploring hidden corners.

The old format was basically an out of the box setup being used on many sites back in the day before smartphones. For the longest time after smartphones it held on and then went with the “current” cross-platform format. But that too is now a little dated. I don’t see there being an incentive to change because it is still usable.
