She was robbed and I think Sandra Bernhard should have been nominated too. Both dd great work this year.

I like the feeling of the show Season 1 but it was never a master class in acting. Then I stopped watching. Do these cunts really think they are grand thespians?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 28, 2020 9:19 PM |
The show didn't deserve a single nomination for its dismal last season.
And Billy especially was undeserving.
If you thought she was insufferable before, just wait for what she'll be like now that she has a second nomination.
Thank God we're in COVID shutdown so she can't walk red carpets in her ridiculous getups.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 28, 2020 9:20 PM |
I do think Angelica deserved a nomination but her crying and carrying on just looks petty and sore loser.
The show definitely did not deserve a nomination for Best Dramatic Series, although it certainly deserved it more than that violence porn fest The Handmaid's Tale.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 28, 2020 9:20 PM |
The show is an unwatchable melodrama.
While the actors may have been snubbed, not getting a nomination is not transphobia. There are plenty of actors and shows that were "snubbed" because there are a finite number of nominations.
These people are just tiresome. When will people accept that being a T doesn't make you a good actor. It doesn't make you more interesting. And it definitely doesn't make you more deserving of, well...anything.

Damn Covid is really making a man out of Angie.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 28, 2020 9:33 PM |
I agree. She was fine in a terrible season of Pose - the acting really isn’t great. Handmaid’s is running out of steam & mrs maisel was another show that was terrible this season. All I want to read about is Catherine O’Hara winning best comedy actress the day after the emmy awards - otherwise does anyone even watch? Does anyone even care? I miss the joan rivers show that reviewed the outfits the next day. That was my award show

I thought she was good in AHS 1984. I was actually really pleasantly surprised.
Haven't seen season 2 of Pose, and thought season 1 was okay, but as another poster said, didn't think any of the acting was all that spectacular. Some of the acting was really campy with melodramatic diologue.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 28, 2020 9:44 PM |
This series is like Jenga, if you took the novelty of being trans aspect away the entire series would collapse under bad acting.
Bad, just bad! It’s seriously overlooked because it was “first” to have an entire trans cast but quickly tripped over itself like “Looking” did.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 28, 2020 9:45 PM |
Forgot about looking. That did get old fast. It’s how i feel about mrs maisel It doesn’t need many more seasons. Or i won’t watch many more seasons. I think of pose the same way

Lucky them! Now they get to throw hissy fits and get condolences from everyone in the world who's trying to prove they're an ally to the poor oppressed transwomen of color, even the rich and famous ones!
And if they'd got noms they'd also be at the center of attention. I wish I could get that kind of win-win.

Do they really think they're in the same league as Viola Davis or Meryl Streep or Laura Dern or Catherine O'Hara? Laughable.
Indya Moore was good the first season but when I watch that first season again I realize how much of her performance was bolstered and carried by Evan Peters. They had great chemistry with him and he really helped their performance. Their best scenes were with him. I know the wrath I am incurring by saying that a white actor made them better but, sorry, that's my opinion.
This past season, Indya STUNK. Nasal whining, overacting. The writing was terrible for Angel but Moore isn't strong enough to make it work.
The other thing is when the show first started, the cast were pretty likable on social media. But once the show became a hit, they all become insufferable, save for MJ and maybe Dominique. Ryan Jamaal Swain, the most untalented and charisma-free of the cast is just completely obnoxious. We already know how insufferable Billy is. Indya and Angelica have become the worst and, now with the Emmy "snub", they are going to become even more insufferable. You know these two are not going to let it go and will either protest the Emmys or or pressure the committee so much that they will get a special moment on the awards show to highlight the struggles of black trans lives and explain why the "snub" was so hurtful. And, of course, it will have NOTHING to do with the fact that this is about acting. The Emmys don't give out awards just because you're black and trans. But you know they will not let this go.

by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 29, 2020 2:00 AM |
R21 why wouldn’t they be in the league as those you mentioned? It’s only acting it’s not that hard. All you have to do is be generally attractive and memorize some lines. Not much else to it.
And for that matter what sort of league is it that these women are supposedly in? I can’t think of another industry that is as indulged so much in how seriously it’s taken. “Insufferable” as you would say haha.

by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 29, 2020 3:45 AM |
If they weren’t so obnoxious, I’d feel sorry for them. Angela, Indya, and their ilk have had the media blowing smoke up their asses 24-7 for the last five years. Instead of understanding that they’re just novelty acts, Angela & Co bought into the idea that they really are that talented and brilliant.
They’re not. I doubt anyone of these “ladies” will be working actors in ten years.
Indya Moore had a shitty upbringing. His parents are Jehovah’s Witness and didn’t accept Indya when he came out to them. They even sent him to conversion therapy. He ultimately decided being a tranny daughter was better than being a gay son. Still doesn’t mean he deserves an Emmy nom.

Agree with r21 pretty much on everything, especially how talent-free Ryan Jamaal is. He benefitted from the use of a double on the more technical dance moves and his concept of showing angst or concern is twitching his lip to the right, like Samantha when about to start wiggling her nose for a witch spell.
MJ and Dominique, conversely are the best actresses there. Sandra Bernhardt surprisingly turns in a good performance and Miss Lupone’s arc, save for the bit where she had to show off her voice (looking at you too, Billy Porter), was worth of notice. Ironically, the best singing voice there belonged to someone who was relegated to harmony parts - MJ Rodriguez (unless of course she was dubbed, then why would they bother, with all the people on the show who could have stepped in?) Porter plays the balcony too much. THEATAH. His style reminds me of this SNL skit in which Chris Rock, Ellen Cleghorne, Tim Meadows and others overplayed the African American Angst as part of some Local Negro Theater Ensemble, where they’d end up screaming every line.

Pose season 2 was a dud. It had none of the magic or charm of the first season, weaker storylines, and even the music selections weren't that good. It was a textbook example of a second season curse. If it deserved any awards recognition for the past season (debatable), it should be for MJ for keeping it all afloat as the heart of the show.

MJ is earnest and appealing, and she is absolutely essential to grounding the show as it got increasingly outlandish in season 2. But a great actress she is not.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | July 29, 2020 3:09 PM |
If these actors should be angry at anyone, it's the writers. I've lost track of how many horribly written scenes there were in season 2. One that stands out in particular is the Patti LuPone and MJ encounter in which Patti takes about 10 minutes to expound on the meaning on "gentrification" while we're actually witnessing gentrification take place.

Of all the performances in the final series of OITNB, I can literally think of 100 actresses who deserve a nomination more than Laverne Cox.
I think Laverne had maybe 2 scenes, one where she's washing someone's hair and says something sassy as she raises an eyebrow, and then I think when someone (Piper?) gets released and sees Laverne in the release queue and Sophia says something sassy ass raises an eyebrow.

Nominating Laverne Cox in an "actress" category (which someonehow the ladies demand to be called the "female actor" category, because they're too stupid to see the inherent misogyny in that dopey definition!) is pure misogyny! If you want to create a "female actor with a penis" category, then do it, but erasing a real woman to make room for ONE MORE GUY to infiltrate their nominees is bullshit!

[quote]So did Pose’s transactresses not getting nominated cancel out Hunter Schafer getting nominated from Euphoria because they didn’t want to be seen giving it to a white sister when they didn’t give it to a black one? Hunter gave an amazing performer that to me surpassed Zendaya’s.
Daniela Vega and Jen Richards had small roles in Tales Of The City and were worthy of nominations.

These deluded people can't even convince anyone that they're actually the opposite sex. Doesn't say much for their acting skills.

R105, no, fuck you you hate-filled bigot.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | July 30, 2020 2:58 PM |
The hate-filled bigot is the one who supports the homophobic misogynists and can't even see that's what they're doing, r10.

^ R10 = R110
by Anonymous | reply 112 | July 30, 2020 3:53 PM |
R110, I dare your racist misogynistic homophobic ass to repeat that to R107.

Aren’t most institutions transphobic? Why should one expect the Emmys to be any different?
by Anonymous | reply 114 | July 30, 2020 4:44 PM |
A bigot is a bigot based on what they do not who they are. Besides I'm not talking to 107, I'm talking to you you hateful bigot.

Someone above asked about Angelica Ross attacking Pete. There are worse ones if you want to dig, but here’s one where Ross insists Pete isn’t gay enough because he’s too respectable and not a black trans sex worker.

R110. Bitch like I care what your ma'am ass has to say. Shouldn't you be yelling at people to use proper pronoun "it is ma'am".

Angelica can act but she’s nuts
by Anonymous | reply 118 | July 31, 2020 1:44 AM |
Season 2 of "Pose" was poorly written and horribly acted. Angelica was the best thing about an otherwise dismal season. Her storyline was the emotional center and I think of everyone in the cast her performance was the most raw and authentic. Still, you cannot expect to be nominated for being the best of the worst.

Did Janet get a nomination?

Thanks for that post r116

R116 Shows the clear divide between gay people and the rest of the alphabet soup. Absolutely every fucking letter (along with self-hating gay bootlickers) just taking the opportunity to drag down an openly gay man for not being the "right" kind of "q*eer". There's a freaking bisexual man married to a woman in the comments bragging about how he is "more q*eer" than Buttigieg. I guess pegging and light BDSM makes you more "revolutionary" than a man literally married to another man.

R99 yes how very dare she consider herself on the same level of professional performance as for instance, the esteemed Jon Cryer in Two and a Half Men. Or Ray Romano for Everybody Loved Raymond. How could she even think of opening the door to those hallowed halls. I hope someday you will look back and cringe at how much respect you gave to an industry awards show for an industry you most likely don’t belong to. Until that day I’ll do the cringing on your behalf.

R102 and you’re acting superior after composing that sentence? ‘Original junk’???

Indya is now calling out Billy. Does this bitch do anything else other than complain?
She must be insufferable to work with.

My post from last week:
[quote]I’m pretty sure we’ve seen all Billy Porter has to offer...And they and "the movement" will turn on him, starting about now. He's a CIS MALE!!!!!!!

Interesting that not ONE co-star or Janet Mock, Steven Canals or Ryan himself wished Billy good luck on social media. Not one.
They must really hate him.

How hilarious is it that two of the highest profile people working on the transified Pose are named Laverne Cox and Janet Mock!?
Honey, y'all are just like that kooky Mock Apple Pie made from fucking Ritz crackers to me! Yuck.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
