KFC discontinues Legendary Potato Wedges
2020 is incorrigible. When KFC announced they were testing fries dusted with their 11 herbs and spices, fans overwhelmingly rejoiced, but now, they're learning that the special menu addition has come with a cost, and that cost is the end of potato wedges.
KFC confirmed to multiple outlets, including Thrillist, that Secret Recipes Fries are rolling out to locations across the country and that they'll be replacing the longstanding menu item that is potato wedges.

OP, the proper title should have been: KFC Potato Wedges CANCELLED!

I haven't been to a KFC in over 15 years, but I remember loving these.

Did someone discover an old photo of them in blackface?

Where's the Fat Whores in the title OP?

I wish they would sell original recipe skin without the chicken.

Then they couldn't have been popular.

I can’t remember the last time I went to KFC. Why would you go there instead of Popeyes or Chick-Fil-A?

11 herbs and spices.

Chick-Fil-A? Really r8? Your dietary choices are already questionable, but do you usually eat food made by people that openly hate you?

The best potato wedges I've ever eaten were sold at the Tom Thumb.

The KFC potato wedges were great! Plus you could reheat them and they still tasted good. Sad day for us all.

OP the fact that this happened MONTHS AGO and you’re just now getting outraged speaks ill toward their popularity. If folks like you and R2 would drop in, I don’t know, maybe once a month and actually [italic]buy them[/italic], they might be on the menu today.

First John Lewis, then Regis, then Olivia and now potato wedges. When will the tears stop?!?!?

This is a Sophie's Choice. The Potato Wedges were the best around, but the new fries have the KFC spices. Why can't we have both?
This isn't as bad as Taco Bell slashing it's menu choices in half, but it's close

The new fries are godawful, R16. And they’re the same fries from some other chain which allows the corporation that owns KFC to save money. It’s all about cost cutting.

Read R15 in the Eric Cartman voice.

And when’s the last time you’ve been to KFC, R15? Are you another one who hardly went there and are now outraged that a product you rarely purchased won’t be waiting for you when you finally come back sometime in the future?

KFC just did r17 a huge favor. Due to this switch to fries, in a few months, he'll be able to post selfies on the Speedo threads.

Fuck you, R20. There will have to be a lot more fast food discontinuations before you see me in a speedo. But yes, god knows I loved nothing more than sitting down and eating a whole box of wedges drizzled in ketchup. If you fuckers would’ve taken your asses to KFC and bought some every once in a while, I’d still have my goddamn wedges!

Here you go R21. I'm sorry for your loss. I know this won't make up for it, but I hope it brings you some comfort.

I’ll be damned if I’m going to make some myself. Part of the fast food high comes from the instant gratification of having delicious hot food delivered to your hands in mere seconds.

This is just devastating, OP. Please let me know where I can mail your sympathy card.

Not every town has all 3 of these fast food outlets. Plus, I don't think I would want to support CFA, whose menu is not tempting anyway.
I did like those wedges, IIRC. Seems like mashed potatoes (gravy, cole slaw, and biscuits) would be the popular items (besides chicken) at KFC, anyway.

Seriously, what is Yum! up to?? First the Taco Bell cheesy fiesta potatoes and now the KFC wedges. Why are they turning against carbs?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 24, 2020 8:48 PM

Not only carbs, R33, but by discontinuing the famed potato wedges they’re turning against common sense and decency.
