The more craptacular video is here.

I thought it was just "KC".

by Anonymousreply 2July 27, 2020 11:40 PM

r2

It was, but then again it's like thinking Richard Carpenter, John Oates, Andrew Ridgley or Peaches did anything to contribute.

The first comment on that video at YouTube is the winner!

And the woman on the left looks like Lt. Uhura wearing a new Star Fleet uniform.

by Anonymousreply 4July 28, 2020 12:11 AM

No, I mean I thought the credit was "KC". Didn't they try to launch him as a solo act when disco began to wane?

by Anonymousreply 5July 28, 2020 12:12 AM

We always sang, "Gotta get it up, get it up, baby get it up".

by Anonymousreply 6July 28, 2020 12:13 AM

I think in some countries it was KC and the Sunshine Band and in others it was just credited to KC. I think the tv appearances he did to promote the song he was just KC, no Sunshine Band.

by Anonymousreply 7July 28, 2020 12:23 AM

That explains it. Thanks, r7.

by Anonymousreply 8July 28, 2020 12:24 AM

Those backup dancers look like they're performing at gunpoint.

by Anonymousreply 9July 28, 2020 12:27 AM

My concept was better.

Why does he have no bulge in those tight blue pants? He has the build of a guy with a big dick.

by Anonymousreply 11July 28, 2020 12:33 AM

KC hit the wall fast. He was cute in the 70s but by the time of that video he was rough looking.

Too much coke and declining hair.

by Anonymousreply 13July 28, 2020 12:34 AM

Cocaine is a helluva drug.

by Anonymousreply 14July 28, 2020 12:34 AM

Like in the US it was "Careless Whisper" (Wham: Featuring George Michael). Elsewhere it was just George Michael.

Richard Carpenter may have been an awful human being, but he was also a top-notch songwrighter and a deft arranger. Give credit where credit's due.

by Anonymousreply 16July 28, 2020 8:15 AM

This song was featured in Jack and Jill and I can't fathom why...it's not one of KC's better songs

I can't fathom HOW you know that.

by Anonymousreply 18July 28, 2020 8:57 AM

The Adam Sandler film, Jack and Jill (2016).

No he wasn't. If he was he would've had an after career. He did not. Even John Bettis, who wrote the songs Richard hogged credit for had an after career when Karen died. As Olivia Newton-John said, (when John said Karen's solo album "stole" the Carpenter's sound), "Stole the sound, you ARE the sound."

by Anonymousreply 20July 28, 2020 2:09 PM

My goodness gracious, KC's pants are so tight I can tell what his religion is.

by Anonymousreply 21July 28, 2020 2:16 PM

What happened to his teeth? In the image at R12 his teeth are all together. But in the OP's video he's got rabbit teeth with a gap in the middle.

by Anonymousreply 22July 28, 2020 2:21 PM

Olivia Newton John didn't have much of an "after career" post, the early/mid 1980s. Does that make her talentless? Richard Carpenter was a huge part of the Carpenters sound, and I'm not a devotee - they often veered into syrupy territory in terms of his arrangements. But it's no coincidence that "Close to You" had not been a hit before Carpenters' version. The man had skills. Even Bacharach acknowledged his arranging talents. He also had his time in the sun.
