Is Wayfair Any Good?

I’m looking for a sofa and club chair, and I saw a few things online that caught my eye.

Prices are good, but I see assembly may be required.

Who out there has advice for me? Is assembly a cinch? Are the products quality enough to last ten years?

If you can’t recommend Wayfair, who would you recommend?

This is my first cottage of my own. Thanks.

Are they the assholes that require your email before they let you in?

Fuck that.

This is Datalounge OP, unless you spend $12,000 for a sofa and $8000 for a chair you are wasting your time.

The quality is better than IKEA. The packaging is nearer and more efficient than them as well, and the assembly directions are much easier to use than IKEA too

Wayfair tends to sell cheaper (Chinese) brands. Their items look junky to me. However, they also have a swankier offshoot called Perigold that carries some very nice lines. I have ordered several pieces of furniture and on Perigold and have found their customer service to be excellent.

I am quite satisfied with my last slave child purchase from Wayfair. Five stars!

I have things from there. The prices are ok but the quality is not awesome. It’s alright for something you don’t need to be top notch, and can be hit or miss.

Is this a joke? Is this some sort of code for recommendations on missing girls?

by Anonymousreply 7July 17, 2020 8:14 PM

Wayfair one buys on one's way to welfare.

by Anonymousreply 8July 17, 2020 8:15 PM

Wayfair isn't a manufacturer they just sell stuff other people make, so some of it might be shit, some of it might be great. Only order things with reviews is the only advice I can offer. Task Rabbit will assemble stuff for you if you find you can't assemble something. Most often it is just attaching the legs.

I would never buy a couch I couldn't test out. A chair, yes. A couch, NO

Are you getting an armoire? Pick a cute one.

There was an online "curating" company called Dot and Bo which I guess was like Wayfair. They had good some quality furniture and I bought quite a bit from them including the perfect teak credenza and lots of smaller items. When I was on my credenza hunt (about 2 years long) they were vey helpful in trying to locate exactly what I wanted. You'd think I could have found one in my area with all the available stores but I couldn't - not for what I thought was a reasonable price and with my preferences (size, condition, wood). My online search also didn't yield any reasonable results without huge shipping costs. Dot and Bo sadly went out of business.

I still love my credenza. It's beautiful and long.

Pic of said credenza R11 or it doesn't exist.

It's good if you want to buy a kid without an adoption agency making you jump through all sorts of hoops. Maybe you could find their family and reunite them if you feel so inclined.

by Anonymousreply 13July 17, 2020 8:45 PM

No hon. Just no.

by Anonymousreply 14July 17, 2020 8:52 PM

If you buy Wayfair, you'll never be able to admit it: social death.

by Anonymousreply 15July 17, 2020 8:53 PM

Gar. Bage.

Admittedly, I’m a quality snob and would rather have a really good classic thing secondhand than a trendy Made In China new thing.

by Anonymousreply 16July 17, 2020 8:55 PM

If their stuff is made in China then no, just no.

I want Kelly Clarkson to help me shop.

Okay, okay. This is OP. I get it:

Garbage product and kidnapped children. I’m out.

I know people who get things from them. I get things from them. They're fine. I have some wall art and a couple of lamps. I always check Wayfair, Perigold and Overstock. Perigold is slightly better than Wayfair, but Wayfair is fine. THEY'RE FINE.

I bought a long side table from Wayfair. It was very good quality.

The problem was it didn't look right in the space so I wanted to return it. I would have had to pay for the full return of the table unless something were wrong with it.

So I made up that the table was 1/2 inch lower than the description said--and sent a pic with a tape measure showing that (which is stupid because I just made the tape measure seem 1/2 inch lower).

Because of that, they paid for the full return.

Wayfair is good if you're looking for missing children

by Anonymousreply 22July 17, 2020 9:07 PM

Just stay away from the $12,000 cabinets named after missing children and you should be fine

by Anonymousreply 23July 17, 2020 9:07 PM

Their prices change -- a lot. If you can, tell them you have a business (say you file a Schedule C should be enough) and you can get their professional rates. I qualified, got a really nice associate to change what I had already order and got like a $100 + discount. But checking the site, that loveseat varied in price by over $200 depending on when you checked in (and on the regular site and the professional). Gives you some idea of the markup. Nice reclining loveseat though, very comfy, though the cushion is starting to feel a bit less cushy after a few months of sitting on it.

I've bought a few pieces from them, after shopping in person and not finding anything that I could afford that would work well in the rooms I was furnishing. I had no problem with assembly (just screwing the legs on, which takes only a few minutes) and having it delivered was a godsend. The quality is.......generic, but I couldn't afford some of the pieces I really liked without taking out a mortgage.

Not so fast OP. It doesn't work like that. You started this. You can't leave until we're well and truly finished with you.

R25 types from the ghetto.

by Anonymousreply 27July 17, 2020 9:36 PM
