OP's photo is from when Novak presented at the Oscars in 2014. She was 81 and pilloried across social media for appearance. She has spoken about how deeply hurtful and depressing the experience was. Google "Novak Oscars" to read what a debacle it all was.

If Novak showed up looking like a "natural " 81 year old, people would have bitched at her then too.

Injections don't work except for superficial lines. You need a real face lift to correct things. She looks awfully lumpy around the nasolabial lines and mouth in the one picture where she is on a sofa for an interview. I have found that exfoliation, and facial massage really work and also bring blood to the surface for a great complexion.

She's 87 years old. I suspect her options for substantial improvement are limited at this point. And anyway, she's fine. Hope I look half as good at that age.

A full lift is major surgery. She's almost 90. You don't major elective surgery at that age.

Novak has looked great most of her life. She needs no one's pity, in that respect.

Her generation were the original guinea pigs of plastic surgery. I'm sure techniques will improve over the next decade and beyond, but a lot of women (and men) were really done over in a bad way. I felt bad for how bad Mary Tyler Moore looked in her last few years, same with others who have the "Joker mouth syndrome" or permanent deer-in-headlights look done to their eyes like Al Pacino.

Some actors like Jodie Foster have said they weren't going down that road. We'll see what the future brings.

Sad that Kim Novak felt awful about her Oscar appearance... that was supposed to be a great moment of joy for her.
