Too soon for this? Glee proved she had singing and acting talent, and she could play dramatic and comedic well. She was probably the most talented member of the cast. Why didn’t she break out of that?
Naya Rivera: Why wasn’t she a bigger star?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 17, 2020 9:28 PM |
Accurate or not, she had a reputation, and she feuded with several members of the cast.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 16, 2020 2:43 PM |
Her personal life was a mess, which spilled over into her professional life.
And I'm still not convinced her drowning was an accident.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 16, 2020 2:44 PM |
I like her but she had crazy eyes. I agree R2.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 16, 2020 2:47 PM |
That could describe most celebrities, R1. It definitely fit a certain costar who had a lot more opportunities and publicity than Naya ever did. “Being difficult” doesn’t explain it.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 16, 2020 2:47 PM |
She was good, but she wasn't GREAT.
And if she was a pain in the ass to work with, that didn't help.

Why wasn't Nicole Scherzinger a bigger star?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 16, 2020 2:55 PM |
The same question can be asked of most actors on a popular TV series.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 16, 2020 3:00 PM |
8th billing on a mediocre TV show isn't enough to springboard an actor of mediocre talent to stardom. Trout mouth plastic surgery probably didn't help.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 16, 2020 3:03 PM |
She was arrested for domestic battery against her husband in 2017. She was shit faced when she was arrested. She also got a lot of unnecessary plastic surgery, which makes you question where her head was at and what insecurities she may have had.
Personally, I think she offed herself.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 16, 2020 3:05 PM |
She was on Glee that’s why.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 16, 2020 3:06 PM |
R10 yes we heard you at R2
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 16, 2020 3:08 PM |
R12 you beat me to it
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 16, 2020 3:09 PM |
She was one messed up beyotch.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 16, 2020 3:14 PM |
It’s shocking that Darren Criss has had the most successful post-Glee career.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 16, 2020 3:15 PM |
Who has had a big career post Glee? Almost none.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 16, 2020 3:16 PM |
[quote]Parscale is tall and probably hung, but he is way too ugly to get with Hope Hicks. She has way higher standards.
Not really. On his first episode, it was obvious that he had the "it" factor.
I think he's a pretty bad actor, but not surprised he succeed.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 16, 2020 3:21 PM |
We were best friends. I tried to get her work after Glee, but she would always show up drunk to auditions. I told her she was beautiful just the way she was, but she insisted on getting plastic surgery and lip injections. I did everything I could to help her. It's a pity.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 16, 2020 3:21 PM |
R19: Busy with your in the shitter career?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 16, 2020 3:23 PM |
I wonder if the toxicology report will reveal that she was on the sauce when she drowned.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 16, 2020 3:25 PM |
R20 Booze and pills. But I'm sure her family will keep the autopsy results secret.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 16, 2020 3:27 PM |
It was already reported she did not have alcohol or drugs in her system.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 16, 2020 3:29 PM |
She may have been troubled but I'm guessing she's not nearly as troubled as the gossip girls who keep insisting she killed herself. Look up Lake Piru and see how many accidental drownings have taken place there.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 16, 2020 3:35 PM |
R23 Oh, she killed herself, all right.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 16, 2020 3:37 PM |
Her instagram makes me sad. She was trying so hard to be a Kardashian-esque slut with plastic surgery and ass shots.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 16, 2020 3:48 PM |
She attained more fame dying this way than she’d ever get while alive. Probably she was jaded by the industry having been in it since a child, yet not achieving the sort of fame and fortune she’d like to have. On the wrong side of 30 and aged out of ingenue roles, with her most substantial role as a supporting character on a show that ended 5 years ago. Rumors of being a yacht girl, no income stream coming in due to lockdown, past history of domestic violence and unstable romantic relationships.
Now her family and fans are promoting the story that she used her last strengths to save her son from drowning. I’m thinking the family is now talking to sleazy lawyers to file lawsuit against Ventura County and pontoon manufacturer. Don’t let an accidental death go unrewarded. Call me cynical.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 16, 2020 3:49 PM |
R25 Exactly, and that alone should tell us how desperate she’d become in the past few years. An actress who’s still trying to get good or at least respectable roles wouldn’t present themselves like that on IG. Only desperate ones who have given up and try to earn money as IG influencers would go that route. The plastic surgeries and procedures to look like Kim K’s twin was in itself unnerving.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 16, 2020 3:55 PM |
She was in the youtube series about a performance arts school but was faculty.
I really liked her on Glee. But if you write a memoir before 30 you are asking for trouble.
PS- I thought we found out Lea Michelle was the difficult one and Naya was the upstart target for her. She was adorable in that show Royal Family.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 16, 2020 4:05 PM |
sorry it was family matters
Here are some episodes.

[Quote] Who has had a big career post Glee? Almost none.
Aside from Darren, Melissa and Grant Gustin have done ok.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 17, 2020 6:34 AM |
I always thought she was kind of a J-lo/Kardashian hybrid, but skinny.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 17, 2020 10:19 AM |
You could say the same about many actors who have a huge amount of talent but just don't seem to be able to translate that into an equivalent career. Equally, there's plenty of people with less talent who do become super successful - I think so much of it is luck. Or the Illuminati.
She was definitely the stand-out for me on Glee - had the best voice and delivered the best acting performances.

R31, Chris Colfer is a best selling arthur. And you are?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 17, 2020 1:29 PM |
I thought Chris Colfer would have done more with his acting career.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 17, 2020 1:33 PM |
R35: Please he was a narcissist who couldn’t sing nor act. He probably doesn’t even write his books.

Lea was just cancelled. Someone should probably tell God about it.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 17, 2020 2:53 PM |
R42 At least I didn't drown, kill myself after molesting little girls, or overdose.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 17, 2020 3:54 PM |
Stop stressing yourself out, Lea. You have a tiny life inside of you that you're going to be ruining very soon. Worry about that.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 17, 2020 4:04 PM |
R45 I already snuffed it out. I'll be announcing a miscarriage to get sympathy in about 3 weeks.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 17, 2020 4:18 PM |
Pretty much everyone from Glee who commented on her death mentioned how she was the heart of the cast and would show up and film pages of monologues in one take. It doesn't appear that she was hard to work with or difficult on set other than being the one person to call out Lea Michele. I can't remember which cast member said it, but one of them made quick reference to Naya being the one to speak out about drama on set. If anything, the cast and crew loved her.
What ruined her career was her shitty taste in men and the bad plastic surgery. I'm sure being on Ryan Murphy's shit list didn't help, either. It sounds like she was the one to call him out for allowing Lea Michelle to be such a twat.
