I just realized I don't even own a CD player anymore!
I gave most of my CDs away years ago as I moved to streaming. I still have a few special ones, but don't actually have a CD player!
I ave a BluRay player, which plays CDs, I think --not that I ever actually play any of the CDs I kept. I even have a few records from my old record collection.
I don't own a stand alone camera anymore either. I rely on my phone's camera.
Anything you dont have anymore because technology has moved on?

I love that tech has pushed nearly everything to streaming. Living in a tiny apartment, there isn't any storage room for CDs or BluRays.
Moves are made so much easier because I no longer all that entertainment stuff.

I still have a BluRay player and a cabinet full of DVDs/BluRay discs, but no physical CDs, no CD player, and I don't think I've owned a radio for over 15 years. Stopped having a landline phone seven years ago. Don't own any watches anymore.

I still have my $250 Sony DVD player that I bought over 20 years ago - now it's my CD player. I use it infrequently, but it's there along with my old tape deck and turntable. I also have a machine that turns records into CDs. They sit on a table with storage for LPs below. You can't buy one like it today. They're going to bury me with all of this stuff.

You don't physically own any movies or TV shows you stream. And the connection can often suck on streaming.
As for CD's, I'm not about to spend money or time on downloading songs I already have onto a phone or IPOD.
People who chase technological trend after trend are exhausting.

I have my own digital files of music. Any movie I may want to see again, I have a digital file. I have entertainment equipment going back decades because I have a big house and every so often a friend will ask me to digitize something. I even have 16 and 8mm movie projectors.

R6 there are plenty of digitizing machines on the market, still. For Vinyl, for tape, film, etc.

Ah ha, that makes sense! Well, just in case, a lot of the mid-priced contemporary furniture makers do vinyl storage again because many designy hipsters buy vinyl.

Over the last year, I ripped and tagged over 1000 CDs as FLACs. To do this, I use a $40 CD/DVD drive. There is a copy on my PC, which syncs with OneDrive which is backed up on a NAS. I access the NAS using Plex, so I can listen to any of those CDs at full audio quality in my car, while running or on my (or anyone else’s) stereo. I’m very happy and have been listening to more music than using CDs or streaming.

I don't have one either, but when I bought my iMac I got an external hard drive with it, pretty much for the sake of ripping and/or burning CDs.

I have one in my car which is a 2010 model. I have a DVD player in the house but haven’t bothered hooking it up since moving 6 months ago. I have never been one to collect many movies to watch over again though, in any format. I still have a box of CDs I’ve kept, but never listen to since it’s all on Amazon music.

R11, thanks, but I've spent the last 20 min looking around online and I don't see anything close to as good as what I have now, certainly not anything that saves space. My audio table is by Workbench (remember them anyone?) and is solid and over 30 years old. I also still have a couple of their bookshelves and a glass top coffee table - all solid. I don't see the need to spend extra buck to replace them.

I like tech trends that make life more convenient.
Not only is every piece of music, TV show or movie available at any time, they are also availble wherever I am--on a commute, at home, at work, on vacation, etc.

I have an amplifier and an SACD/CD player on shelves, but no typical speakers for that setup. I listen to music on my computer, where I have a pair of Bowers & Wilkins computer speakers. They're all I have, and they're plenty.
I bought a laptop, so I listen to music that's on an external HD. I had to buy a hub, and sometimes it loses the HD, saying "this USB device is not recognized." What a PITA, but I prefer listening this close now, and I prefer the sound over CD sound (all music is ripped from my CDs, which now sit in boxes on shelves).

My desktop still has a functioning CD/DVD tray and I have a Blu-ray player. So I'm good. I only really buy CDs when an album isn't on iTunes or Amazon.
What I really need is a VHS player. I have so much good stuff on VHS and it may not be on YT.

Most of my music is on a USB. The problem with downloading music is you don't get the quality you can get from a CD.

R27, the problem with VHS players is that unless they're used they die in my experience.

And not all CDs are created the same. I'm only a half-assed audiophile however. I will even listen to mp3s but I produce them myself from good sources. I move to lossless for music I considered impeccably produced.

R31, you can find a compatible charger and cord just about everywhere. I still have my iPod as well. I bought a Nano so I could link it with Bluetooth in my car. That way I can listen to the music I want to hear.
Caution though - since Apple stopped supporting iPods, the update are useless. My iPod won't shuffle anymore no matter what I do. I have to manually forward to the next song. I've tried hooking it up to my computer as well as the device itself.
And before anyone asks, I have a Samsung cell phone so I can't use it when I go for walks. It's also about 5 years old and has to be charged daily. I like to use my iPod when I go on walks since it's much lighter than my phone and work iPhone.

I have a large book collection and cd collection, but all my reading is on a Kindle now and all my listening via Apple Music (which, I estimate, has at least 80% of the music in my cd collection, which is all classical; I was surprised). I tell myself I keep the cds for the notes and libretti and the books for when all the lights go out forever.

Not only do I still have my CDs and records, I go out every weekend (less now thanks to 'Rona) to record stores and get at least a couple more each format. Usually buy both formats, too, when it's a new release. A visit to a new city/town isn't complete if I don't stop by a record store or two. Have 5 ipods in rotation (different genres, one for the car, a nano for runs) and one still in the box in case.

Oh, I also stream all the time because of the convenience - there's an app that allows you to sit in a virtual room with others taking turns spinning songs and that's the main way I hear new music. My Spotify account has over 500 playlists.

You've come, OP, to one of the only places in the modern world where people might have actually possess a CD player.
More likely they will have a DVD player and a VHS player - so they can watch their old tapes of shitty 1980s TV series meant for fat girls who like pie too much (when the rainbow is enuf.)

I'm early 40s and haven't had a landline phone in almost 20 years. I got rid of all my CDs many years ago. I got rid of most of my DVDs years ago, but I do have some that are in a drawer but I never use them. Like the above poster, I love not having all that stuff in my house, it simplifies things. Streaming/digital has been a great invention, imho.
I'm old enough to remember giant entertainment centers with all the gadgets and how much space everything took up.

All my gear is relegated to my office now. Which is fine with me, it is where I spend most of my time. I don't really want to go into detail, but its more than a few crates of Albums and the technology cutoff is probably just above 8 track (But I do have one of those in storage).
It's all contained in home made cabinets that cover a complete wall. I do all my remote meetings in front of it.
