So this new app Randonautica has been discovered (recently?) and there are many videos on YouTube showing what it is about and the reactions of people who use it. It is very strange and some people feel it is connected to the Deep Web. It is said by many to be dangerous - that, once you download to your phone, your private information is secured by those who created the app. Has anyone here downloaded the app? What has been your experience?

Trying it tomorrow (in the daylight) and will report back.

First location was next door to a house I lived in 18 years ago.
Then on the way to the next location, came across a weird cut out of a clown playing a piano that was under a verandah of a suburban house. My word was 'strange'.

Thanks for coming back and telling us about it R2. Are you going to go again anytime soon? I'm intrigued by it. But I'm too lazy to do it.

YouTube has a LOT of videos of people doing it. Some of them are pretty weird, finding odd stuff in the woods and also being followed by a car.

Is this like the game in the second season of the OA?

Dark Web dear. Dark Web.

All I know is, if I wanted to steer gullible, suggestible people toward a remote location, this would be the perfect way.

I have it, and the app itself is pretty annoying and not user friendly. Very weird, but I doubt it has anything to do with the dark web. I won’t go to any of the locations it spits out because that doesn’t seem very safe, but it’s an interesting experiment.

I too have followed postings on YouTube and some of it is Very Scary. I'm still trying to figure out (as do some of the people posting videos) how the damm thing works. Some say it is folks from the Dark Web following your intentions via a connection to your phone (scary thought). But how do they get to the location in time to put something there to scare you or intrigue you? It's all over. How can there be such a connection of people all in it together. I dunno. Random it can be but when cars start following you or someone CALLS you on your cell....

Could someone explain what the fuck it is?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 23, 2020 9:19 PM |
R11, you are supposed to “set an intention” and then have it generate a location relevant to what you are focused on. But you don’t enter the intention into the app so I am not sure how it could be used to manipulate you. The app generates a random location within a radius chosen by you.

Is it Pokemon Go 2.0 which will stop fat, lazy, friendless people from voting?
People never learn, do they?

[quote] connected to the Deep Web
I mean no offense, but you sound conspiratorial. Deep Web isn't some shady place people commit crimes and post horrible things. It only means that a site isn't indexed by google. Many universities have subdomains, specially of their libraries that aren't indexed either. Some people need that to curb their country's censorship, etc.
I freelance as a designer and my personal website isn't indexed by google either. It's technically on "the deep web", I made it this way so people wouldn't find it if they're searching my name, there's nothing illegal there, just my freelance work. If you get a direct link from me, you'll access it just fine.
