Happy 74th birthday to the legendary Linda Ronstadt

Yes, there is an existing thread, but since it's rather rude to Ms. Ronstadt let's try this one.

R5 I'm not, but I also know there are a number of devoted LR fans here.

I'm more of a Joni fan myself but I can tip my hat to Ms. Ronstadt.

by Anonymousreply 7July 15, 2020 2:45 PM

Another Ronstadt / Disney favorite, "When You Wish upon a Star". That last high note on "...true." So wonderful.

Few could go from You're No Good to this. Amazing range.

I read her memoir of several years ago. She tells very little about her private life and is a little too tight-mouthed at times. Never married and adopted a couple of children.

by Anonymousreply 10July 15, 2020 2:56 PM

Her book.

The very handsome man in the What's New video is apparently Danny Kortchmar. Few recognize his name but he has been literally everywhere in the 70s era of rock.

,,,and 40 years later...whats your point ?

by Anonymousreply 14July 15, 2020 3:03 PM

When will she find love?

by Anonymousreply 15July 15, 2020 3:07 PM

She was very smart to hangout with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris, one made her look down to earth and natural and the other made her not look like a dog.

by Anonymousreply 16July 15, 2020 3:09 PM

My quarantining has led me back to Linda and I've flooded my youtube lists with her songs.

Thanks to both threads. You're both pretty.

by Anonymousreply 17July 15, 2020 3:15 PM

Linda was NEVER a dog

by Anonymousreply 18July 15, 2020 3:19 PM

Another year of non apologies for her past racist actions. Hopefully, there won't be many more

by Anonymousreply 19July 15, 2020 3:38 PM

R19 MARY!

by Anonymousreply 23July 16, 2020 3:06 AM

She only had one number one song (You're No Good) and one million seller (Blue Bayou).

by Anonymousreply 24July 16, 2020 3:19 AM

And a LONG string of platinum and double platinum albums...

by Anonymousreply 25July 16, 2020 3:31 AM

I love Linda. It breaks my heart that she has Parkinson's. I hope she has a wonderful birthday.

by Anonymousreply 26July 16, 2020 3:34 AM

Hurry up and blow those candles out, Linda. Bitch I got things to do!

by Anonymousreply 27July 16, 2020 3:39 AM

Odd how she, Dolly, Cher, Liza ,Debbie Harry were all 74 at the same time.

by Anonymousreply 28July 16, 2020 4:09 AM

[R1]Gay man here. Love me some Linda. How about you fuck off?

by Anonymousreply 29July 16, 2020 4:57 AM

My favorite song by Linda may still be her first big hit, with the Stone Poneys - "Different Drum". Her voice is amazing and the song is great - and it was written by Michael Nesmith of The Monkees.

R30 On the famous Capital Records label.

Different Drum is an awesome song.

by Anonymousreply 32July 16, 2020 5:19 AM

R30 he was a very talented musician /songwriter. I think Andrew Gold (Thank you for Being a Friend) wrote a lot of her songs, too.

Back when Rachel Ray was just a cute chubby girl (circa 2003), she looked like she could have been related to Linda.

by Anonymousreply 33July 16, 2020 6:07 AM

She could sing a Jimmy Webb song like no other (apologies to Glen Campbell and Art Garfunkel). Wish they had collaborated on an entire album!

Here’s a track from his solo album, featuring Linda.

Parkinsons makes everything tight

by Anonymousreply 36July 24, 2020 11:39 PM

R35 I bought the album years ago when it first came out. A friend of mine looked at the cover and remarked that she has big feet.
