Trump campaign advice to jobless: "Find something new"

A new White House-backed ad campaign aims to encourage people who are unemployed or unhappy in their careers to go out and "find something new." The campaign is rolling out as the nation's jobless rate remains elevated, with almost 18 million Americans out of work following the economic hit of the coronavirus pandemic.

The opening ad in the "Find Something New" campaign beginning Tuesday features ordinary people sharing their stories. A companion website provides links to training and other resources.

"There has never been a more critical time for Americans of all ages and backgrounds to be aware of the multiple pathways to career success and gain the vocational training and skills they need to fill jobs in a changing economy," said Ivanka Trump, who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

The job I want is distributing sharp sticks to the Trump administration so they can fuck themselves with them. They're making six figures for harassing a 79-year-old epidemiologist and retweet white nationalist hatred.

Trump’s response to everything:

“I don’t give a shit.”

by Anonymousreply 7July 14, 2020 3:44 PM

Be best / find something new.

Those conservative think tanks are worth every penny they get.

What's next, "I can see my ideal workplace from my house!"?

by Anonymousreply 8July 14, 2020 3:54 PM

They are mocking this so hard on Twitter.

We will be finding something new in November.

I almost thing the people working on the campaign are actively courting failure.

Has anyone informed the coal miners?

It is obnoxious, but it's not from Trump's campaign.

Advice he will soon take himself.

Probable should wait until I see it again, but ... I half-heard some commercial on MSNBC today that was advertising some school or online learning thing that made me think “oh, they’re redirecting young people away from college into the trades”.

Which I don’t think is a bad thing at all.

Maybe there’s a connection. Go ahead and FF me. This thread just made me remember it.

I see zero wrong with this ad, which isn’t an Trump campaign ad, btw. Also, this seems to appeal to people/voters who are intelligent enough to realize almost everyone needs to learn something new and adapt to what is coming, and soon. All coronavirus did is speed the process up. Many African Americans and Latinos will jump to this offer, but I can almost guarantee you many white folks won’t.

I recently outlined to someone I am close to, here in the south, how she can have a new job within 6 months to a year, with free training, and where the courses are and why they relate to her particular job and industry, as well as that of her boyfriend’s.

I promise you, she gives zero fucks, and will do nothing, even though stuff I sent her explained in black and white lettering, why her industry and job will be scaling onto a totally different platform and model for operating, and that because of this, there are free classes offered to help the communities affected. So it’s not some rumor or conspiracy. It’s written right there for everyone.

She said that she will be fine and her job ain’t going nowhere. Thanks to a new career and a much higher salary, but no!

This is what happened in Detroit, the rust belt, and mining country. People for the most part who occupy blue collar jobs, have zero interest in a career. They want the least amount of effort or investment on their part, for a measly yet sufficient paycheck.

These are the folks who voted for Trump. They’re angry and they’re screaming about being left behind. They weren’t left behind. They too, were offered new opportunities for FREE, rejected them, and got pissed off when everything around them turned to shit, and decided that the same government who offered them a way out, was now also responsible for making sure they were given just enough to acclimate to a poorer way of life.

So let’s not politicize this ad, which is a very big deal and can help many people who are willing to invest their free time for online classes and a new career with financial stability.

This isn’t a fuck you, America. This is actually one of the few positives in a dreary landscape that gets drearier by the day.

Gee, I seem to remember a short, opinionated, blond lady that said a lot of the things you do, and they wanted to crucify her for it.

I guess she must've been looking through the wrong end of the telescope.

When it comes to careers (and I've had so MANY in my young, young life) and personal economic hardship (the TROUBLES I've seen!), I have found that my greatest personal growth has arisen from times of discomfort and uncertainty, that one can only really appreciate in hindsight.

...and since you asked, I have found my greatest physical growth has come from the many painful plastic surgeries that have allowed me to swim as far from my sad, sad gene pool as my bony arms would take me.

I'd tell her to go fuck herself, but that wouldn't be something new.

by Anonymousreply 18July 14, 2020 6:07 PM

Got no dambition!

by Anonymousreply 19July 14, 2020 6:09 PM

What’s he supposed to say? Before COVID we had a 3.4 % unemployment rate

by Anonymousreply 20July 14, 2020 6:11 PM

R2 there’s a million positions in the White House 🙄

by Anonymousreply 21July 14, 2020 6:57 PM

“can help many people”

Like Trump U?

His Casinos?

Tariffs?

This is another scam. There is nothing to it. It’s a hollow trope.
