Conservatives are flocking to Parler, the new social media app. Millions, in fact.

Amid claims of social media platforms stifling free speech, a new challenger called Parler is drawing attention for its anti-censorship stance.

Debates surroundings free speech and censorship have taken centre stage in recent months. In May, Twitter started adding fact-check labels to tweets from Donald Trump.

More recently, Reddit permanently removed its largest community of Trump supporters.

In this climate, Parler presents itself as a “non-biased, free speech driven” alternative to Twitter. Here’s what you should know about the US-based startup.

Parler reports more than 1.5 million users and is growing in popularity, especially as Twitter and other social media giants crackdown on misinformation and violent content. [bold](OP note: On Sunday 7/12, Parler CEO John Matze gave an interview on Breitbart's SiriusXM program and said they added around a million more users in the last 2 weeks. They are hovering around 3 million now.)[/bold]

Parler’s main selling point is its claim it embraces freedom of speech and has minimal moderation. “If you can say it on the street of New York, you can say it on Parler”, founder John Matze explains.

This branding effort capitalises on allegations competitors such as Twitter and Facebook unfairly censor content and discriminate against right-wing political speech.

While other platforms often employ fact checkers, or third-party editorial boards, Parler claims to moderate content based on American Federal Communications Commission guidelines and Supreme Court rulings.

So if someone shared demonstrably false information on Parler, Matze said it would be up to other users to fact-check them “organically”.

The child porn hustlers and Qaninnies will move in there in due time.

by Anonymousreply 207/14/2020

They're self deporting from Twitter? Cool.

by Anonymousreply 307/14/2020

I'm still waiting for my account on ReaganBook to go live.

by Anonymousreply 407/14/2020

It's super hard to own the libs when there aren't any around who are even remotely interested.

It sounds good in theory that the conservatives want a place where they can just shout at the moon about their white grievance, but I don't believe they get much real satisfaction in that and ultimately it's not sustainable.

by Anonymousreply 507/14/2020

It's a double-edged sword, I reckon. On the one hand, it's good that falsehoods on mainstream soc med will peter out. On the other, polarization and anti-vax, QAnon, flat earth, and all other preposterous thoughts will fester. (None of them will "organically" fact-check the sophistry the consume, if all they can point to as reference are also sham.) The menace, unfortunately, will outweigh the relief. God help us.

by Anonymousreply 607/14/2020

Talk into my Parler, said the spider to the fly

by Anonymousreply 707/14/2020

They're gonna freak when they learn "parler" is French.

by Anonymousreply 807/14/2020

Oh, goodie!

Why not just paint a target on their backs?

What delicious troll bait this will be!!!!

by Anonymousreply 1007/14/2020

Parler is to free speech what Fox is to real news.

by Anonymousreply 1107/14/2020

The problem is that if only conservatives migrate to the app the effects are near to zero, they are simply preaching to the choir

by Anonymousreply 1207/14/2020

MeWe is a libertarian wet dream. all anti-vaxxers and conspiracists

by Anonymousreply 1307/14/2020

Free speech my ass. Just look how many people they have already suspended because they didn't like that their parody accounts made fun of some right wing assholes or corrupt idiots like Devin Nunes or otherwise didn't "fit" (aka not racist enough). They can all just fuck right off to that fake app, I won't miss their lies or racist bs.

by Anonymousreply 1407/14/2020

Talk about an echo chamber! What a bunch of snowflakes conservatives are.

by Anonymousreply 1507/14/2020

Ooh, R14, did Devin Nunes Cow join up?

by Anonymousreply 1607/14/2020

^Yeah, the cow surely follows Devin everywhere and they deleted his account a few hours later.

by Anonymousreply 1707/14/2020

People are leaving TikTok for something named Byte. Everyone is saying I should download it in case TikTok gets banned. I have no idea if this Byte thing is similar or even as good as TikTok.

by Anonymousreply 1807/14/2020

There used to be a Byte magazine.

by Anonymousreply 1907/14/2020

This is good actually.

The more they self-isolate on places like Parler (not Twitter) and OAN (not Fox) the less chance they have to spread their hatred to the rest of the world.

by Anonymousreply 2007/14/2020

R18 Byte is the new iteration of Vine, from the original founders, after they went under a few years ago after Twitter disabled its service.

by Anonymousreply 2207/14/2020

Bye, bitches!

by Anonymousreply 2307/14/2020

I thought the whole point for posting on Twitter/Facebook for a number of these trolls was to "own the libs". How do you do that on Parler if there are no libs to own?

by Anonymousreply 2407/14/2020

Lots of Trumpers planning a mass exodus to Parler now. However, check out the terms of service:

14: “You agree to defend and indemnify Parler ... from and against any and all claims, actions, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to all attorneys fees) arising from or relating to your access to and use of the Services. Parler will have the right to conduct its own defense, at your expense, in any action or proceeding covered by this indemnity."

by Anonymousreply 2511/08/2020

R25, that’s just laying out explicitly what 270 already requires.

by Anonymousreply 2611/08/2020

I'm trying to register but I can't. My password is never strong enough. Even when I type in 100 different characters

by Anonymousreply 2711/08/2020

Divisive trolls will be useless there since they could divide no groups of people. I think they and their stinking 350-lb+ bodies will stay here.

by Anonymousreply 2811/08/2020

It isn't just attracting right wingers. Where are women supposed to go when Twitter throws them off for questioning that trans women are women? Twitter is shutting down too much fair and honest discussion. They'll be throwing Martina off soon. Where is this Parler anyway?

by Anonymousreply 2911/08/2020

All of the above is true, but giving rabid far-right conspiracy theorists a "safe space" to continue infecting each other with ever more lurid conspiracies and unchecked hate rhetoric makes Parler a medium for inciting potential real-world violence, not to mention that it will foment the creation of new hate groups and boost exiting ones, like militias.

It's actually concerning.

by Anonymousreply 3011/08/2020

It will be like fly paper for right wing nutters. They'll go too far and up in jail.

by Anonymousreply 3111/08/2020

Lol their sade spaces always collapse. Gab and Free Speech Extreme are still floundering around with no real influence in the worlds most inept circle jerk.

by Anonymousreply 3211/08/2020

If it just becomes a conservative only site, the I agreed with others above that it's useless. But I wish there was a strong competitor to Twitter. Same with Google. It's not good to have only one company controlling everything, even if you think they are "on your side".

by Anonymousreply 3311/08/2020

Failed.

by Anonymousreply 3411/08/2020

What is 270?

The article linked at r1 says that a social security number is required for registration?! Sketchy as fuck.

by Anonymousreply 4011/08/2020

I think the people who sign up for it deserve to have their SSNs sold on the Dark Web to Russian criminals. Perfection!

It sounds like it'll end up being a data mining outfit if they ask for SSN. I read that you need to send in proof of ID before directly messaging someone.

by Anonymousreply 4411/08/2020

R29, the only women going to parler are right-wing trolls like yourself

Right-wingers like Devin "I'm going to sue a cow!" Nunes claim they are leaving twitter for Parler, but they're still on twitter. Hmmmm....why is that?

by Anonymousreply 4511/08/2020

It'll make it that much easier for the FBO to keep track of these terroristic fucktards.

by Anonymousreply 4611/08/2020

R29, why are you so obsessed with trans women? I have yet to meet one trans man or woman and I’ve lived in 6 States and 3 countries. People like you make it sound as if there’s a group of transexuals trying to storm the women’s bathroom in every village.

by Anonymousreply 4711/08/2020

^r47 - Wow, you nailed it. What's funny is conservatives did the opposite for gays - they insisted that we only made up 1% of the population, so it was okay to deny us equal rights. Yet they act like there are a million trans people on every street corner, trying to play women's sports or use women's restrooms. Muslims too - they make up 1% of the population yet they're going to force Sharia law on all of us!

by Anonymousreply 4811/08/2020

I can't for the life of me imagine why anyone in their right mind would provide a SSN to anything else but a financial institution or government entities. It blows my mind. Of course, they could provide provide a fake one, but mist probably don't.

This last week Maria Bartiromo, money honey from Fox business, threw a fit on Twitter and said "That's it. I'm leaving for Parler!" Only to keep tweeting. Maybe she got to the weird terms and requirments.

by Anonymousreply 4911/08/2020

I think we all need Parler accounts so we can go there & test their “free speech” claims.

by Anonymousreply 5011/08/2020

"Free speech"? Like Free Republic free speech where users were banned 45 seconds after saying anything critical of GW Bush?

by Anonymousreply 5111/08/2020

Stop it, R29. Women are not going to Parler. This app founder interviews with Breitbart that likely supports incels. Parlet won't last long.

by Anonymousreply 5811/08/2020

But how do they own the libs if there are no libs to see what they are posting?

by Anonymousreply 5911/08/2020

Wrong, R58. Today alone, I've seen comments from at least five women in my Facebook feed saying they were going to Parler because they're "tired of Facebook's censorship!" They're sharing their Parler user names so they can find each other there.

by Anonymousreply 6011/08/2020

People are once again putting sensitive information on a platform that will no doubt be hacked.

by Anonymousreply 6111/08/2020

R60, why on earth would you have five women in your facebook feed throwing a mob tantrum and going to parler?

What kind of weird-ass feed is that?

by Anonymousreply 6211/08/2020

R60, your deplorable friends don't count

by Anonymousreply 6311/08/2020

Here's why we win with Parler

Twitter has a tiny user base compared to other apps and much of it is believed to be inflated by people with multiple accounts (not even maliciously--you may have a personal account, one for your business and one for a benign hobby like stamp collecting)

But... almost all journalists are on Twitter and use it to promote their stories.

As such, they are far more aware of "what is being said on Twitter" and likely to be influenced by it and report on it and regard it as an accurate reflection of public opinion.

It is not.

Twitter amplifies the most outrageous comments and many people have figured out how to game that.

Similarly, politicos and journos who are not prone to outrageous comments begin to make them as a way of being seen

Thus Twitter has an undue influence on the media, left, right and center.

If the Trumpist freaks are all on Parler no one in the mainstream media will see them and their nonsense will not be spread quite so easily.

"Spread" meaning what happens on DL a lot, where people respond to trolling and thus amplify the trolls.

PS: R60 is trolling you, trying to make it seem like Parler is happening.

by Anonymousreply 6411/08/2020

Jeeze. Imagine the shitfest that Parler is going to be! They are welcome to their echo chamber.

by Anonymousreply 6511/08/2020

Parler = 4chan (is that what it's called?)

It's thoughtful of them to gather together for the FBI and other law enforcement agencies to track.

by Anonymousreply 6611/08/2020

Pretty much R66.

by Anonymousreply 6711/08/2020

Parler claims it doesn’t censor because censorship is in American.

So all progressives need to join Parler and make uncensored remarks that promote our views.

by Anonymousreply 6811/08/2020

Could we infiltrate, announce a group of meetings all around the country where Q will reveal himself, live via Satellite, and invite them to the events. Then when they all show up at the events, we lock them in and set the buildings on fire?

by Anonymousreply 6911/08/2020

Actually r69, you’re on to something. If we seriously did that — create say a six month con job where we post long enough to build history, then have a pay-per-view event to hear Q’s voice, we could make a lot of money.

by Anonymousreply 7011/08/2020

Let me get this straight:

You need to give your SSN or scan of your driver's license to unlock all the features including messaging?

And if Parler gets sued members are expected to help pay costs or something?

Any site that wants your SSN is sketchy.

by Anonymousreply 7111/08/2020

I'm just correcting the assumption that no women are joining Parler. They are, if my FB feed is any indication. I couldn't care less if Parler is happening or not.

Like most people, I have FB connections with a lot of people from my past that I don't necessarily interact with regularly. But I do see their posts in my feed. And since I grew up in a fairly conservative area, it has been enjoyable to watch the meltdown of people I know from high school.

To be honest, between all of the unfriending I've been doing over the past few days and the exodus to Parler, my FB feed has been cleaning up nicely.

by Anonymousreply 7211/08/2020

I'll bet you that the app is owned or developed by some sketchy Russians.

by Anonymousreply 7311/08/2020

They've been clear about their business model since day one, two years ago, which is matching up alt-right "influencers" with advertisers and then taking a cut. It started out just that way, with the likes of Laura Loomer and Alex Jones who were getting banned by other platforms. It wasn't until they got a big bump from Saudi accounts that it expanded into more of a free-for-all Twitter.

And now it's taking off with the Deplorable hoi polloi who, conditioned by years of FB, have become so desensitized to idea of privacy that they're willing to hand over their Social Security number and a scan of their drivers license — people using GrandPads, whose understanding of social media is just retweeting memes and chatting away with Ginny from church and Paula Rae from knitting class.

It is what it is!

by Anonymousreply 7411/08/2020
I have yet to meet one trans man or woman and I’ve lived in 6 States and 3 countries.

Seriously, R47? You must live a very sheltered life.

by Anonymousreply 7511/08/2020

LOL, let the morons give out their SSNs, drivers license, ect.! If they are THAT stupid...

by Anonymousreply 7611/08/2020

r54's comment made my day!

by Anonymousreply 7711/08/2020

I say good - let all the right wing nut jobs flock over to it and live in their alternate reality without polluting any of the main platforms with their fucking nonsense. They can continue to spread lies and misinformation amongst themselves and become even more ignorant and stupid than they are already.

by Anonymousreply 7811/09/2020

I joined an "intellectual conservative" FB page for about two weeks. One guy started an "intellectual" discussion of Tocqueville. He had a few responses. Next week he started a discussion defending the Proud Boys. His likes and supportive comments blew up. I left obviously.

They're over there defending the Proud Boys.

by Anonymousreply 7911/09/2020

Speaking of intellectuals, Parler users didn't understood the name so now even the CEO has come around to pronouncing it their way — "parlor," as in the room.

by Anonymousreply 8011/09/2020
they're willing to hand over their Social Security number and a scan of their drivers license

No. This only applies to "influencers".

by Anonymousreply 8111/09/2020

The leftist media belongs in jail.

by Anonymousreply 8211/09/2020

Really, R82? Is it because they know how to pronounce "parler" properly or did you have some other reason in mind, dear?

by Anonymousreply 8311/09/2020

I eat old people’s excrement.

by Anonymousreply 8411/09/2020

Anyone who would hand over their SSN and driver’s license to sign up for this app is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 8511/09/2020

Just read the comments about their terms of service. Including you could be held financially liable for their debts? Seriously a scam site. I’m surprised Apple allows it.

by Anonymousreply 8611/09/2020

Conservatism should be banned outright with capital penalties for violations. I am sick and tired of the excuses for why we don’t just kill them all right fucking now like we should have 20 years ago when they tried to steal the election for George W. Bush and got away with it because we did not destroy them violently like we should have. If ever there was a time for violent attacks on terrorist scum, it was then.

Violence is social justice when deplorables are the target of it. They deserve it. Anyone who defends so much as their existence deserves violence as well for enabling them.

Fuck the First Amendment. Fuck the Second Amendment. Fuck the whole goddamn bill of rights. You don’t deserve rights because you’ve tried to deny them to us time and time again, so we have earned the right to disenfranchise you. You deserve worse than being a second-class citizen. You deserve to be a genocide statistic. You deserve a fucking holocaust. God knows you are 100% responsible for the last one. The violence will not stop until all opposition to Democrats has been completely destroyed. If we need another world war to achieve that end, and so fucking beer at this point. Pacifism enables fascism.

by Anonymousreply 8711/09/2020

Won't someone PLEASE shit in my mouth?!?

by Anonymousreply 8811/09/2020

by Anonymousreply 9011/09/2020

The right wing will use Paler to organize rallies and whip the people in such a frenzy that the incel types go on killing sprees. That thing is probably on the FBI's radar already.

by Anonymousreply 9111/09/2020

The poor Secret Service is going to have to go on there night and day. And contrary to what the owners of the site say, Parler isn’t immune to all laws. If people are issuing death threats to Biden over there, they’re getting a visit from the Secret Service no matter what site it is.

About women on that site, Deplorable women are stupid as rocks. They may sign up but they won’t get to stay. Incredibly misogynistic men who are not being censored as they are on every other site, will be telling women they’re going to their house and raping them and their kids. The site says they’re not going to censor anyone.

The only reason Twitter or Reddit are even useable is the violent loons get censored. Just wait until every woman-hating incel in America and Russia runs them off the site. They’ll be talking about disemboweling them with can openers by the third week. And their kids. They’ll make it impossible for those Nazi fraus to stay there. They’ll doxx them and scare the living shit out of them. It’s going to turn into the dark web.

Just because the owners want it to be a fascist white supremacist site doesn’t mean those are the only people that will use it. When you say there’s no censorship, it’s going to be full of porn, child porn, snuff film pictures, decomposing body closeups, you name it. Every slavering crazy person is going to be on there in no time, because they can’t publish that anywhere else. Especially commercial porn and child porn. The FBI will be on there from the first day.

Watch the cookie baking fraus take one look and run for the hills. Especially when they’re trying to brainwash little Johnny to love Hitler, and he sees a picture of a woman fucking a horse. That’s what no censorship really means.

There’s a reason Twitter and other sites censor. These dummies are about to find out what it is.

by Anonymousreply 9211/09/2020
About women on that site, Deplorable women are stupid as rocks. They may sign up but they won’t get to stay. Incredibly misogynistic men who are not being censored as they are on every other site, will be telling women they’re going to their house and raping them and their kids. The site says they’re not going to censor anyone.

I disagree. These female Deplorables want to be debased like gay Trumpers want to be called faggots, but "good" ones because they are faggots for Trump. These women are as angry (see, Karens) and frustrated as men. The sad truth is that these men and women have one common ground: They hate Liberals and minority groups and that's how they keep a bond between them. The Deplorable women will attack Liberal women even more vicious than the men ever can and the men will be like "damn, girl! Tell us how you really feel!".

by Anonymousreply 9311/09/2020

R93, a lot of Deplorable women call themselves Christians, pro-life, and say they’re the real moral people and the real Americans, while liberals are not. They’re holier than thou.

Deplorable men are coming from a different point of view. They think men should run the world, wives should be beaten and debased if they try to speak up or have any autonomy, and kids should be beaten until they shut up. They are violent with a mean streak a mile wide. The women support this by saying the Bible wants it that way. So do the men. I’ve seen them on right wing sites. Sometimes people tell them to stop promoting wife beating. Sometimes they agree with them. But even those sites have censorship.

In reality, when you say there’s no censorship, commercial interests are going to get in there with the speed of light. Links directing men to porn websites (porn is a huge percentage of the internet), or links directing people to other websites that can’t advertise everywhere because of their content, like extreme hate sites. The owners will probably take ads from anybody they can. Reputable advertisers like food companies aren’t going to want to advertise on the “why I love Hitler” sub thread. Survivalist companies probably will, but their main claim to fame is going to be, we’ll take any advertising no matter how dark. A lot of that is not anything you’d want anywhere near kids. Or women that don’t like explicit porn ads.

Then you’re going to have Zodiac killer type guys that want to show pictures of their latest handiwork. Guys like that have posted murder photos and suicide videos and been removed as quickly as possible. But there’s no censorship here.

There’s a lot of Trump subreddits on Reddit that were closed because of violent hate speech. They were echo chambers that instantly banned anyone that didn’t think Trump was perfect, including Republicans. Those people will all end up over there. If I’m not mistaken, some of those people got in trouble with the law, so they must have been really extreme.

Reddit has had a lot of subreddits gradually migrate away from the original purpose, and that’s probably going to happen here. Sometimes liberals will go in and change the reason for the thread by spamming it. But there won’t be liberals here. So if the thread meaning gets changed, it will go from porn -> violent porn -> violent wife beating, with pictures of bruised and tied up wives being “taught a lesson,” etc. Deplorables are Deplorables for a reason. There aren’t going to be crocheting groups on there.

There’s A LOT of pro-wife-beating backed up with Bible quotes on some right wing sites. And a lot of it, women are taught to agree with by their Fundie pastors. They’re told if they’re beaten they deserve it, or at least God wants them to suffer so they can go to heaven and be rewarded in heaven. And they are literally taught if they get a divorce they’re going to hell, and they can only go to heaven if they serve their husband no matter what, even if he rapes their kids. I’ve literally seen this on Fundie sites. They’re supposed to forgive their husband for raping their kids, even if he goes to prison for raping them, they’re supposed to bring them right back in the house to rape the kids some more. That’s why there’s so much child molestation in fundie communities.

In Fundie culture, men and women are segregated online. Even on integrated sites like survivalist sites, the men have a section and the women have a section. The women are all cooking and childcare, the men are all violence, riots and revolution.

This is going to get really gross. Deplorable culture is violent culture.

I guess the next logical question is to ask if any Dataloungers have joined. I looked at it but I can't bring myself to create an account. The problem is that they need to be kept an eye on so that we know what they are doing.

by Anonymousreply 10411/10/2020

Let the FBI do it, R104.

by Anonymousreply 10511/10/2020

Came to R5, but R5 already did. W+W.

by Anonymousreply 10611/10/2020

Exactly r99 and others. If they’re all corralled there, they’re easier to monitor and arrest.

The wife-beating culture though, geez. They’re a sick group. Let them stay on Parler and stay away from sane people.

by Anonymousreply 10711/10/2020

Along with keeping all others 'in their place', threatening and hurting their females seems to be straight, white men's favorite sport. Definitely in their Top 5. It doesn't shock me, at all, that the religious ones are worse.

by Anonymousreply 10811/10/2020

R94: Deplorable "culture" is white heterosexual gentile male anti-culture.

by Anonymousreply 10911/10/2020

The reviews for the app are horrible. Supposedly it's buggier than shit, drains your phone battery and is clunky to use. Read the Google Play reviews for a laugh.

by Anonymousreply 11011/10/2020
I'll bet you that the app is owned or developed by some sketchy Russians.

Saudi nationalists, actually....

by Anonymousreply 11111/10/2020

Do they know that Parler is French, for "to speak"?

by Anonymousreply 11211/10/2020

No, it's where you meet your whores. At the parlor, partner!

by Anonymousreply 11311/10/2020

I just asked one of my friendlier conservative friends (who was sharing his Parler handle with his right wing buds on FB) if he had to give his SSN to sign up and he said no. I didn't want to grill with a follow up about uploading his ID. Several women were sharing their handles too. Mostly 60yo former cheerleaders who never left our dinky farming town.

by Anonymousreply 11411/11/2020

Handle sharing by multiple posters? Isn't that grounds for Parler to sue them and charge them for lawyers fees and costs because they are effectively defrauding Parler? Someone needs to notify Dan Bongo and his comrades in grifting that he's being grifted himself. So many peas in the pod.

by Anonymousreply 11511/11/2020

I was mistaken above: the SSN is for people who are involved in sponsorships or revenue sharing. It’s a selfie and a scan of a driver’s license/photo ID to unlock direct messaging and other features.

by Anonymousreply 11611/11/2020

It's still a hell of a lot to ask for that other SM sites don't demand.

by Anonymousreply 11711/11/2020

Mark my words: By this time next year they'll be dealing with a PR crises due to foreign government manipulation, drug trafficking, and child porn sharing. As soon as they even think of implementing stricter Terms of Service, the crazies will implode.

by Anonymousreply 11811/11/2020

Somebody described it as "Jonestown posting live on Facebook", which sounds about right.

Also, as mentioned above: These fuckwit's sole reason for existence online is to "own the libs". Who are they gonna mud wrestle with now if everybody agrees with them?

If we're lucky they'll sink quickly into a "Judean People's Front/People's Front of Judea" war.

by Anonymousreply 11911/12/2020

I saw a headline somewhere, can't find it now that the Meresers were involved. They are the billionaires that created breitbart.

by Anonymousreply 12011/14/2020

I’ve seen a few articles about it today, r120.
The platform also has some deep-pocketed investors. Hedge-fund investor Robert Mercer and his daughter Rebekah are among the company’s financial backers, according to people familiar with the matter. The Mercers have previously financed a number of conservative causes.
After The Wall Street Journal reported on the Mercers’ ties with Parler, Chief Executive John Matze confirmed that Rebekah Mercer was the lead investor in the company at its outset and said that her backing was dependent on the platform allowing users to control what they see. Mr. Mercer couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

R51, were you around when we used to take turns trolling and getting banned by the Freepers?

by Anonymousreply 12211/14/2020

The Mercers make the Trumps, Hitlers, Stalins, Amins and Kochs look like good people.

by Anonymousreply 12311/14/2020

If it will cause Fox News financial harm, I'm all for it.

by Anonymousreply 12411/14/2020

If I had the time and money to work against them, I would first make a strong network of fake people, then I would flood the site with utterly ridiculous and completely implausible nonsense that would test the gullibility of even the stupidest deplorable.

by Anonymousreply 12511/14/2020

The irony of the scorn from DLers is delicious. Parler is basically DL for deplorable. The misinformation, misleading headlines, the echo chamber effect - welcome to DL, bitches. There is definitely gems among the trash in DL as I expect there to be on Parler. You just have to be smart enough to sort them out on your own. We do not want to overly censor. That's the worst.

by Anonymousreply 12611/14/2020

R126, banning white supremacists is hardly an example of "overly censoring"

You sound like MAGA trash

BTW, Parler is funded by hateful right-wing billionaires, the Mercers

by Anonymousreply 12711/14/2020

To do what, R60? Fight with idiots, although any person giving up their SSN and ID info may fall into the category anyway.

by Anonymousreply 12811/15/2020

Nazi MAGAts are revolting.

Hmm.. R125 appears to be severely retarded.

by Anonymousreply 13311/15/2020

R132, exactly. I had a friend who I believe was red pilled by way of Facebook (with a little help from a retired NYC cop neighbor) when she was on worker's comp this past year. Let them preach to the choir! Have at it.

by Anonymousreply 13411/15/2020

I signed up to take a look at Parler and like the poster above said it is a deplorable version of DL. There was even a Golden Girls thread debating which of the girls had the most white pride (Rose) and which was the godless liberal sex trafficking children on the lanai (Dorothy).

by Anonymousreply 13511/15/2020

Before it became 'Parler', they went through a few other names:

MeinSpace Reichbook Y'all Qaeda HickTock OnlyKlans CrySpace etc., etc..

by Anonymousreply 13611/15/2020

They should have gone with CrySpace.

Although OnlyKlans has its appeal.

by Anonymousreply 13711/15/2020

R129. They ARE revolting. Revolting to listen to and to see.

I have cousin who belongs to the Oath Keepers. He’s a damn kook so I keep away from him.

by Anonymousreply 13811/16/2020

These Mercers are such gaslighters. They finance right wing start-ups like this one and when the heat is on them they act like "Oh, dear! We never intended for it to go in that direction! Pinky swear promise! We only wanted to provide an open forum for discussion and it got so out of hand we had no other choice but sell it. Yes, we no longer own it. Therefore this massive killing spree / terrorist act isn't really our responsibility."

by Anonymousreply 13911/16/2020

They will all be back to Facebook in 2 weeks.

by Anonymousreply 14011/16/2020

what bothers me about it are the Republican politicians that belong to it like Cruz and other politicians

by Anonymousreply 14111/16/2020

We should join & push more bullshit like the JFK Jr nonsense.

by Anonymousreply 14211/16/2020
I would first make a strong network of fake people, then I would flood the site with utterly ridiculous and completely implausible nonsense that would test the gullibility of even the stupidest deplorable.

QAnon beat you to the punch

by Anonymousreply 14311/16/2020

Amend the fucking constitution NOW to ban these fucking deplorables.

by Anonymousreply 14411/16/2020

I would like someone to start a thread where we could discuss our proposed amendments to the Constitution. My suggestion would be that a requirement for running for president should be that you must be between 35 and 70 years old on inauguration day (no one older or younger), you must be a natural born citizen, and you must have previously run for and won at least one municipal, county, or state election.

by Anonymousreply 14611/16/2020

Correction: "political correctness," because only I get to say what I want and you're not allowed to respond."

by Anonymousreply 14711/16/2020
non-biased, free speech driven

Reddit users will eat Parler for breakfast and spam it with so much scat and child porn that Parler will be gone within a year.

by Anonymousreply 14811/16/2020

doesn't Soros own Parler?

by Anonymousreply 14911/16/2020

If only there was a way to search for information on the Internets.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 15011/16/2020

Yes, George Soros definitely does own Parler. Just ignore Reuters - MSM scum.

by Anonymousreply 15111/16/2020

Per Christopher Wylie, the former owners of Cambridge Analytica set up Parler. "Parler is funded by the former owners of Cambridge Analytica. They always wanted to create a new social network to collect data and disseminate propaganda. And now they have." He linked to this article in WSJ.

Yeah, as if that ever could happen R144. If it was constitutional to ban stupid people, you'd be on the first plane outta here...

by Anonymousreply 154Last Saturday at 8:31 PM

^Triggered deplorable.

Trump's a corrupt, lying moron surpassed only by the flying monkeys like yourself who worship him.

by Anonymousreply 155Last Saturday at 8:44 PM

Why are the Cambridges getting dragged into this?

by Anonymousreply 156Last Saturday at 9:49 PM

To me it's already old news that Paler is funded by the Mercers. Any alt-right wing media outlet had their stinky rich fingers in them. Breitbart, for example.

Even gross hog Tiffany announced she was going to Parler but she's still on Twitter.

For fuck sake, just GO!

by Anonymousreply 161Last Sunday at 1:47 PM

It's not going to replace twitter, they'll also keep their twitter accounts because they want to spread their misinformation.

by Anonymousreply 162Last Sunday at 1:49 PM
Of course, the Mercers, we should have known.

We knew 8 days ago

by Anonymousreply 163Last Sunday at 1:56 PM

So I guess it's OK to be wealthy, evil fucks like the Mercers who spread propaganda. Just be "Deep Hate" instead of "Deep State"

by Anonymousreply 164Last Sunday at 1:59 PM

So glad Joe won by 100's of thousands of votes, or the Deplorables would be burning cities down.

by Anonymousreply 165Last Sunday at 2:36 PM

R165, wait until the electors vote on December 14. That’s when he really becomes officially the President-Elect and there is no way it can be undone or challenged. If they decide to demonstrate or riot that’s one of the dates it will happen. The other ones are the date the GSA Karen finally decides to release the funds to Biden, and January 20.

by Anonymousreply 166Last Monday at 10:32 AM

The fact that Facebook and Fox aren’t right wing enough for deploratards is just ridiculous. How much more do they plan to revert? Colonial Williamsburg? Or did those pilgrim sluts once dare to show an ankle to their husbands during their yearly procreational congress and thus are not pure enough. Would the Neanderthal era work?
