I love Bette but that's obscene.

by Anonymousreply 1July 12, 2020 10:49 PM

She's worked her ass off through the years, she deserves it.

I never understood Manhattan Penthouses. It’s Manhattan. They just don’t look or feel right.

by Anonymousreply 3July 12, 2020 10:55 PM

Beautiful

by Anonymousreply 4July 13, 2020 12:36 AM

I love the place. Given its size and beauty is certainly a nice place to be during the pandemic.

by Anonymousreply 5July 13, 2020 12:46 AM

Again?

Divine Miss. M should take the hint and start dropping down that price.

Her architect was L.A. based Frederick Fisher, and her decorator was Fernando Santangelo. Both are impossible to get, they work all the time.

by Anonymousreply 7July 13, 2020 12:22 PM

R7 = Bette's real estate broker.

Sorry, Bette, I'm still not paying $50M for the place...

by Anonymousreply 8July 13, 2020 12:24 PM

High end luxury condo market is worse now than it was in 2019 when Ms. Midler listed this place first time. Guess she't not a motivated seller yet at least and thus is willing to wait.

Problem is same with everyone else on UES, UWS, etc.. they are competing with tons of new construction condos along "Billionaires Row" area, Tribeca, SoHo, West and Greenwich Village, Far West Side/Chelsea....

by Anonymousreply 9July 13, 2020 12:31 PM

Both of those articles are from last year.

Do we have any reason to believe that it's still on the market? Other than the price, of course.

by Anonymousreply 10July 13, 2020 1:11 PM

R7, I thought Duarto Feliz was her interior decorator. HE'S impossible to get.

by Anonymousreply 11July 13, 2020 1:25 PM

I don't care if Duartelo el Fartelo decorated it, there is nothing exciting about the place. Johnny Depp has better houses.

by Anonymousreply 12July 13, 2020 1:43 PM

Looks kinda cheap. I guess she tried, I’ll give her that.

by Anonymousreply 13July 13, 2020 1:53 PM

It's all about new construction in the 21st Century. The appeal of 5th Ave., Park Ave., and all the old guard buildings has really waned. People don't want to put up with asshole co-op boards and buildings that don't have and modern conveniences.

by Anonymousreply 14July 13, 2020 2:34 PM

The article says she selling because her daughter moved out. Wasn't she like 40 ?

by Anonymousreply 15July 13, 2020 2:50 PM

The decor is interesting. It could be a country home, esp with all the terraces. It looks very relaxing and not ostentatious.

by Anonymousreply 16July 13, 2020 4:27 PM

Those staircases and light fixtures look so Home Depot to me.

by Anonymousreply 17July 13, 2020 4:33 PM

Apartment is still for sale....

She probably can't manage those stairs anymore.

You'd be surprised at how much new construction in NYC atm has fittings that look or are right out of Home Depot or Lowes. We're talking units going for millions in parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn....

So much new constriction in city during past decade or so and even now is garbage. People buy these units and it's nothing but problems, problems. At some point condo boards if not individual owners turn around and sue developer.

by Anonymousreply 20July 13, 2020 9:49 PM

Tyler Perry is bidding on it, or he has put a few bids on it without an acceptance. How wonderful if the Queen of the Gays sells to the Biggest Gay Qween! I love it.

by Anonymousreply 21July 13, 2020 10:10 PM

Oh the board is just going to love that application from Tyler Perry.

by Anonymousreply 22July 13, 2020 10:12 PM

[quote]Oh the board is just going to love that application from Tyler Perry.

Yeah, I wonder if they're going to ask him if he's going to let Harry & Meghan live there.

18 more pics for you, OP, here. Nice outdoor spaces.

Fabulous pot plants but look at that messy ceiling above that impossible circular stairway. I bet that messy ceiling is covering some construction problems.

An amazing de luxe apartment in the centre of NY but just how can this one short singer from Hawaii accumulate so much wealth?

by Anonymousreply 25July 13, 2020 10:38 PM

Bette Midler worked her behind off and came a long way since she and Barry Manilow started at the Continental Baths. Her C.V. includes an extensive career in recording, film, and theater.

Depending upon who you want to believe the Divine Miss M has a net worth of about $300 million.

She made a fuckton of $$$ at her Vegas residency. Vegas pays a mint.

by Anonymousreply 28July 14, 2020 2:12 AM

Came here to say what R6 said. Again. And it’s still overrpriced. Can’t she take a hint about how long it’s sitting on the market? NO ONE will buy that at that price. She needs a new, realistic realtor.

by Anonymousreply 29July 14, 2020 2:12 AM

Does it have an elevator?

by Anonymousreply 30July 14, 2020 2:13 AM

This has been on the market before, hasn’t it? It’s ok.

This apartment is not "center" of anything.....

1125 Fifth avenue and 94th street is in Carnegie Hill area of Upper East Side Manhattan.

West of Lexington to Fifth the area is nice enough, but it still is rather far from everything. It is quiet, wealthy, and ticks some other boxes which is a good thing.

Today however money is looking at areas listed above; 57th to 59th streets, or downtown below 34th street (Tribeca, Chelsea, Far West Side, Greenwich/West Village, etc....).

5th and Park no longer have the allure they once did.

by Anonymousreply 33July 14, 2020 2:54 AM

Well yes, and no.

For certain families Park, Madison and Fifth on UES still ticks all the right boxes. If price is right they will buy and are quite happy with their choice. For some it is just the world they know and or feel comfortable. It's same thing has been for ages really; everyone knows everyone else......

by Anonymousreply 34July 14, 2020 2:59 AM

r34 even people from UES families don't want to live there anymore, they're going downtown.

by Anonymousreply 35July 14, 2020 3:02 AM

R35

True, but not everyone, and I live on UES right in rich heartland. The area is hardly empty, well now it is thanks to covid-19 and it is summer.....

One thing about UES is schools are rock solid. Yes you can send your child or children with the driver or nanny (or take them yourself) uptown and back each day, but not every family wants to do this.

by Anonymousreply 36July 14, 2020 3:05 AM

Fifth Avenue. It's a long walk to the subway from Fifth Avenue.

by Anonymousreply 37July 14, 2020 3:15 AM

Jackie O had one just like it

by Anonymousreply 38July 14, 2020 3:15 AM

Please

Midler has always been for sale.

She'd sing at a vet clinic's dog neutering if the price was right.

by Anonymousreply 39July 14, 2020 4:55 AM

The outdoor terraces are really something. The whole place looks comfortable and she doesn't have a lot of crap to fill a "hole that needs something" so it's not pretentious.

by Anonymousreply 40July 14, 2020 1:43 PM

Chris Hughes and spouse knew when to give up, they sold their GV townhouse at a loss.

Property in question.

For those unfamiliar with location 153 West 12th street is just across street from former Saint Vincent's hospital campus which is now luxury condos.
