Did you ever watch it? I don't remember the show being this awful.
The 1993 version of "Supernarket Sweep" is on Netflix -- big excitement and even bigger hair

Episode 1 -- Among the competitors are Clint and Malinda. He's a hunk. She looks like a butch lesbian with a mullet.

I preferred the 1991 season.

Clint is a STUD. Reminds me of Blanche Devereaux's illegitimate stepson.

It's entertaining for many reasons.
Contestants go on the show with a spouse or friend. You get a glimpse into 1990s closeted gay men and closeted lezzies who met in their office cubicles.
And the (suggested retail) prices of name-brand groceries was quite high. And cleaning products - I remember being a poor college student back then and hating to spend an hour's wages on a can of bathroom cleaner. You realize how much cheaper groceries are thanks to Walmart and dollar stores.
The host David Ruprecht looks like he's probably a Trumper today.

Wow, episode 3 is three teams of two lesbians apiece. So Sapphic.

The puzzles where you have to unscramble product names are brainbusters!
Clue: "It all comes out in the WASH"

Oh shit! Lol. Good catch, R8!

My sister and I used to watch this and Shop Til You Drop back to back every day during summer break.

Only 15 episodes is disappointing, but better than nothing.
Now Match Game needs to be streamed.

I totally remember this

I loved this show when I was 10

This was always the dumbest show, but I bit the bullet and watched a few of them on Netflix and found myself really enjoying them. It reminded me of a different era where things seemed simpler.

Supermarket Sweep AND Unsolved Mysteries?!? This is nostalgia overload for me. I loved these shows when I saw a kid. My brother and I would yell for them to get meat, diapers, olive oil! We would laugh at the 80s hair and clothes.
Those were simpler times. Now I run around the store in a mask searching in vain for Lysol...

I agree with R5. Some of these pairings are clearly lesbian couples who I guess couldn’t come out in 1993. This lady clearly just awkwardly introduced her partner as her “really” good friend. This show makes me feel old, but I can’t stop watching it.
