Bodyguard is now considered a "classic" movie to air on a channel like this?
TCM To Air "The Bodyguard" At Midnight Tonight

Whitney was considered for a Best Actress oscar nomination that year, so yes.

My channel guide says it's not that Bodyguard but one from 1948 with Lawrence Tierney. Cable guides aren't infallible but that seems a more likely choice for TCM

NO she wasn't - her performance was panned by critics

It's not the same movie.

Next week they’ll be airing The Matrix.

I Will Always Love You

If they can show that piece of shit Coquette with Mary Pickford, they should be allowed to air The Bodyguard.

she did get a nomination....for a Razzie Award

The Bodyguard has the best soundtrack ever. It’s classic for that reason alone.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 12, 2020 2:01 AM |
Kevin Costner is not even dead yet.

I am, R10, but I still have my standards.

I love The Bodyguard. Kevin and Whitney were fabulous. And they were stars.
They don't make movies like this anymore.
If they remade it, it would be Selena Gomez and Jaden Smith and it would be absolute shit.

It's not THAT "Bodyguard ". It's some piece of shit from 1948!!!!! JFC !!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 12, 2020 2:30 AM |
Not a piece of shit, R13. This is the Noir Alley feature that's shown weekly on Sat nights at midnight (EDT) and again on Sun mornings at 10 (EDT). Whatever you all might say about "The Bodyguard" starring Whitney Houston, it was hardly film noir.

Well, if they can air Babs' piece of shit remake of A Star is Born, they can air its 90s equivalent which is The Bodyguard.

I misread the title and wondered what OP had against Chris Makepeace.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 12, 2020 6:55 AM |
they are repeating this movie this AM

Oh please, stop it with the high & mighty.
The channel shows Roger Corman & Bowery Boys films.

They did remake The Bodyguard! It was a Netflix series starring the KING OF THE NORTH from GoT that DL is all aflutter over now that he's a closet case. I haven't seen it.
The Whitney version is all about the soundtrack...Queen of the Night bitches!!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 12, 2020 3:07 PM |
If it were *My Bodyguard* it would qualify as a classic merely for Matt Dillon's taut teenage torso bulging in his henley tee.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 12, 2020 3:09 PM |
R19 is correct. Watch TCM consistently and you learn that they show a lot of dreck, especially late at night.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 12, 2020 3:10 PM |
The Bodyguard a 'classic'????? Hahahahaha Maybe a classic BAD movie but that's about it.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 12, 2020 3:21 PM |
Not, the Whitney one - a film noir starring the, um, colorful actor Lawrence Tierney
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 12, 2020 6:46 PM |
Does anyone know if this is the Whitney Houston film or the noir film from the 40s? I scanned the thread but it hasn't been mentioned yet.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 12, 2020 6:52 PM |
R25, it's the 1948 film. Duh.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 12, 2020 7:00 PM |
I can't believe that the Whitney Houston movie is considered a classic these days! I agree, lol!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 12, 2020 7:06 PM |
I can't believe anyone on DL doesn't know sarcasm when he sees it.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 12, 2020 7:08 PM |
Next time, Noir Alley is showing my 1993 masterpiece, BODY OF EVIDENCE.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 12, 2020 7:54 PM |
I am watching it tonight.
Whitney's character is such a BITCH to Kevin Costner's character. He should have slapped her!! He risked his life for that selfish bitch!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 18, 2021 4:18 AM |
You’re watching the WRONG MOVIE, R30.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 18, 2021 4:25 AM |
r29 Body of Evidence is sort of an interesting film. You could show it in an acting class.
Somehow Madonna manages to suck as usual but Julianne Moore is pretty great given how awful the movie was.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 18, 2021 4:28 AM |
It’ll be on my next list!
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 18, 2021 4:36 AM |
Plus Julianne gets to slap that bitch! r32
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 18, 2021 4:40 AM |
Julianne Moore managed that in the Psycho remake too. Vince Vaughn and Anne Heche and the rest of the cast were awful but Julianne somehow managed to be great. It is like she is in her own film and not paying attention to the drek going on around her in both these cases.
