I need to see a sketch about a modern day All About Eve.
Kellyanne Conway (Kate McKinnon) as Margo Channing
Kayleigh McEnany (Chloe Fineman) as Eve Harrington
Kellyanne: "The President feels..."
Kayleigh: "Actually, the President RECOGNIZES...."

I doubt SNL would parody a movie that old. Most of the audience wouldn't get the references.

Didn't Kate McKinnon take part in a CASABLANCA parody...?

They did it with Kathleen Turner and Jan Hooks as Jane Pauley and little Debby Norville.
Kate Hudson hosted and they did a LAUGH-IN spoof and LAUGH-IN was almost 30 years old.

Because Kate Hudson's mom was a Laugh-In star, not because Laugh-In was in everyone's minds.

While All About Eve is better written, Casablanca is much more iconic. It is one of the most famous movies ever made.

The dynamic of "All About Eve" is enough to make it effective in a repeat of homage. The usurper is a classic story.

*in a repeat or homage.

R4, yes. I thought that was a given; of course, there was a tie in.
But if people had no idea what Laugh In was or had never seen it, the sketch simply wasn't going to work.
Unlike Laugh In, which I don't think is airing in reruns and hasn't in a very very long time, AAE is aired on Turner and is referred to in lists and such.
As R6 says, it's a classic story
We know Kate can do Kellyanne; we know Chloe is talented. Both are quite excellent.
Tho this will be hard to do with social distancing.

Sometimes, SNL writes funny skits that make it seem like the writers are in their 70s.
Like "Vincent Prices' Halloween Special" with Katharine Hepburn and Judy Garland.
