If the ad about evangelicals is meant to wake them up it’s a complete waste of time. They genuinely believe that God sent him to The White House to save Christian America. It does not matter what trump says or does as long as he supports them and stacks the courts, which he has done.
The Lincoln Project knows this so I don’t know why they bothered.

IOKIYAR. Democrats are NEVER allowed to question christian faith. And the second one, "Learn their names ", would be considered a threat if it came from democrats. Fox would play it 24/7 and tell all their viewers that dems are trying to kill them.
The ONLY reason these are effective is because they come from other Repugs.

There are a lot of people who identify as Christian but not evangelical, who thought the evangelicals were also Christians. They are now beginning to wake up to the fact they are just grifters.
That ad is aimed at that group.

What's surprising R40 is how many of the people in Trump's orbit are Jewish, despite the White Power connection.
That includes his staff, his confidantes and his key donors.
Growing up, Trump's family hung out with the other NYC real estate clans, all of whom are Jewish and many people assumed he was too (back in the day when he just owned hotels) because he fits the negative stereotype of the spoiled obnoxious spoiled son of a Jewish business owner to a tee.
So it's not surprising that many of his inner crcle are Jewish even though he is widely despised in the broader Jewish community, which still leans heavily Dem.

The Lincoln Project raised nearly $17 million in the second quarter, with donations from some of the Democratic Party’s biggest donors. It has earned a reputation as an irritant to Mr. Trump, running ads during some of the famously voracious television consumer’s favorite shows.
Lincoln Project contributors included David Geffen, the film producer, who gave $100,000; Joshua Bekenstein, a co-chairman of Bain Capital, who contributed $100,000; and Ron Conway, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist, who contributed $50,000 after previously contributing $50,000 in the first three months of the year.

Democrats would never run an ad like that.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | July 21, 2020 1:45 AM |
I think the question we should all be asking the Democrats, national ones like Pelosi and our local ones if we have some is WHY the Democrats are too spineless to run ads like this? I'm so fucking sick of all of them. Of course I'll vote for every one of them that I can vote for but what about people on the fence? No one feels excited to vote for cowards. It's bad enough the Ds. They can get millions more vote if they courted the poor but no, they're too afraid of the right to do that and too greedy on their own to do an FDR or LBJ kind of campaign.

by Anonymous | reply 79 | July 21, 2020 9:52 PM |
From the article ^^:
"The Lincoln Project and its GOP exiles, writer Eoin Higgins argued on July 12 in the newsletter Welcome to Hell World, are an example of a “memory hole” in action: Everything that happened before Trump (like the Iraq War or the existence of the Bush administration or the killing of Trayvon Martin) has been forgotten by liberals allying with the group and sharing their ads in service of getting Trump out of office.
[quote]The fact is that the coalition is made up of people who until very recently were happily ensconced in the GOP—meaning that it’s not the policies pursued and beliefs espoused by Trump that are the issue. It’s just his delivery. This is not an abstract issue. The president is part and parcel of the entire Republican project and its logical conclusion after five decades of cultivating an increasingly enraged white base filled with economic and cultural grievances for which the GOP has blamed on the uneven but inexorable march to greater equality in American society.
"Higgins also detailed examples of Lincoln Project members using offensive and bigoted language on Twitter — for example, founder Rick Wilson repeatedly calling people “retards,” attacking Muslims, and mocking news coverage of Trayvon Martin’s killing in 2012."
by Anonymous | reply 81 | July 21, 2020 10:10 PM |
And further:
[quote]Higgins told me the Lincoln Project’s ads were an appeal to liberals who believe that conservatives are their ideological opponents but not their enemies. “The commercials are part of a general effort by LP to present Trump as an aberration, a mistake, something out of the right-wing mainstream,” he said, “rather than the logical endpoint of the GOP and the direct ideological heir of the movement that began in earnest with Ronald Reagan.”
[quote]When I asked him about the ads themselves, he said, “Frankly all they do is make me angry by pretending there’s any major difference between Reagan [or] George W. Bush and Trump other than style.” He added, “I’m clearly not the target audience.”
[quote]He compared efforts to create alliances between liberals and the Lincoln Project to those who suggest alliances between the left and alt-right figures. “I find it unacceptable for mainstream liberals to ally with this group of bigots. Doing so is dangerous as it both drives the Democratic Party even further to the right and mainstreams the abhorrent views of the group’s leaders to an audience of presumably more left-leaning folks.”

Biden came out a couple days ago with a policy paper that would fund universal pre-school , new day care facilities, a grant to low income families to pay for child care, and help carers for the elderly. r98, I didn’t explain it correctly:
[quote]Biden’s campaign says the plan will be paid for by “rolling back unproductive and unequal tax breaks for real estate investors with incomes over $400,000 and taking steps to increase tax compliance for high-income earners.”
by Anonymous | reply 102 | July 24, 2020 1:59 PM |
One of the things I hear that Biden's been smart about is figuring out who "the rich" really are.
The old standard had been incomes over $200K-$250K
But in high-cost areas like San Francisco, where $100K is amazingly poverty level, $200K is far from "rich" no matter how much money is sounds like, especially to someone from a low cost of living area. (Talking about a family of four on that income, not single gay man)
So the $400K cut-off will help him immensely in the suburbs of big cities
