More ABC Stars than there are in Heaven

Toni Tenille, singing to the ROCKY theme, invites tons of ABC television stars to come to the stage with her to sing. I’m guessing this was shot late 70s, early 80s.

Datalounge favourites Bruce Jenner, Paul Lynde and Kate Jackson make appearances.

Who else can you name?

Cheesefest!

John Wayne was in this clip. He died in 1979 so therefore this musical number would have happened during the late 1970's. Possibly '76 or '77.

Toni Tennille would make a great cheerleader!

Observations Kate Jackson diking it up with Marlo Thomas.

Toni girl You do not stick the mike in Cheryl Ladd's and scream at her to sing, she does not appreciate it!

John Wayne drunk doesn't know where he is!

Paul Lynde high on some kind of pills and amyl nitrate can't keep the beat.

The good old 1970s!! And a great theme btw.

Kate Jackson in the same show! She's so cool! As Sabrina Duncan talking to Charlie!

I'm gonna say this is either 1977 or 1978. John Wayne died in 1979, and he looked fairly healthy here, so it had to have been taped before he got really ill.

This is hilarious. Kate Jackson looked like she'd rather be anywhere else. The usually sour Paul Lynde looked like he was having a blast. He must have been drunk.

Sunday, February 5th, 1978

The CBS one is in alphabetical order (reversed) so it's easier to figure out who everyone is.

This was ABCs 25th anniversary I believe. What a horrible repetitive boring song.

by Anonymousreply 14July 7, 2020 5:47 AM

ABC - pure cheese

CBS - dignified

by Anonymousreply 15July 7, 2020 6:01 AM

Great drugs back then.

Rona Barrett!

by Anonymousreply 17July 7, 2020 6:14 AM

R6, DL faves Arlene Francis and Vivian Vance.

I remember that show, Mary Tyler Moore hosted.

I recall reading that Sally Struthers fell off her platform shoes, injuring her ankle, during the taping and had to be carried out on a stretcher.

That was a chaotic pile of shit.

Here's how CBS introduced their stars.

R2 Thanks so much for sharing! I've never seen this before. Love the song, the atmosphere. Only in the 70s! Makes me feel very nostalgic.

The King Sisters!

No thanks, I would rather watch Battle of the Network Stars for my glamour shots, especially the men in speedos. Toni Tennile was there too, and yes, that is DL fav Susan Richardson.

I was next to Lauren Tewes while she sang "Flying high now."

Trust me, she was.

R9 This is good fun! Only Kate Jackson could pull this off. Love her!
