R84, this might be hard to believe, but there are women - I know several - who want to be parents and don’t feel any need to have a partner. They need a man’s sperm, and the money from bio dad is probably quite welcome. But the women I know have used sperm donors or a “contribution” from a male friend who is under no obligation (and none of them have changed their mind).

But it's just weird to have that many resources at your disposal, to have once been close to the child's mother, to bother to create a substantial trust fund for the child, and never once to be in the same room as him.
