I'm glad to see the ladies of The Talk, still dressed up like it was a regular awards show.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 27, 2020 12:03 AM |
Nah, I'll read about it later
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 27, 2020 12:04 AM |
Tamara Braun just got the Ellen Parker Memorial award.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 27, 2020 12:05 AM |
LOL R3
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 27, 2020 12:07 AM |
Bryton James just won Supporting Actor, somehow.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 27, 2020 12:07 AM |
The Emmys became a shitshow long, long ago.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 27, 2020 12:09 AM |
How far in advance did the winners know, so they would be home to accept the award?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 27, 2020 12:11 AM |
I'm enjoying this format. It is perfect for all non music award shows.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 27, 2020 12:12 AM |
All the nominees taped acceptance speeches without knowing if they’d won, R7.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 27, 2020 12:13 AM |
It certainly moves along at a faster pace. I don’t know how they’re going to fill three hours.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 27, 2020 12:15 AM |
Looks like this show has been pretaped and the winner all knew they won ahead of time
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 27, 2020 12:16 AM |
It's lacking the usual trashy dresses and stupidity in the speeches.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 27, 2020 12:16 AM |
R10 It is only scheduled for two hours.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 27, 2020 12:18 AM |
Is Susan Lucci still trying for an Emmy? Is Susan Lucci still alive?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 27, 2020 12:24 AM |
R14 yes, Susan Lucci has just signed a deal to do four Hallmark movies
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 27, 2020 12:25 AM |
Younger Performer in a Drama goes to Olivia Rose Keegan of DAYS.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 27, 2020 12:26 AM |
Olivia Rose Keegan has some good looking brothers and father.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 27, 2020 12:27 AM |
I'm being petty, but I am thrilled Eden McCoy's one note, mini-Carly didn't win.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 27, 2020 12:27 AM |
If an actor stays on a show long enough, they'll win.
It's almost as if they take turns winning each year
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 27, 2020 12:27 AM |
Ellen just won.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 27, 2020 12:30 AM |
Best Cunt?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 27, 2020 12:35 AM |
r21
She wins that award daily
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 27, 2020 12:36 AM |
and I thought that every nominee did a speech just in case
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 27, 2020 12:36 AM |
They did, R23.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 27, 2020 12:37 AM |
Marie Osmond looks gorgeous.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 27, 2020 12:41 AM |
R17 Do they have bug eyes, too?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 27, 2020 12:42 AM |
R16 Perfect timing for Olivia. She gets back on the show after a year and gets an Emmy.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 27, 2020 12:46 AM |
Judge Milan just beat Judge Judy. Byrd, you in danger, gurl.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 27, 2020 12:56 AM |
Judge Marilyn is 59, and looks 20 years younger (except around her neck and hands, which don't lie).
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 27, 2020 12:58 AM |
What is wrong with Eve? I just noticed that her eyes look like a stroke victim, one eye looks lower than the other.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 27, 2020 1:01 AM |
GH gets the Directing Emmy.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 27, 2020 1:06 AM |
From what I read, all the nominees had to record acceptance speeches. Then they play the one's who won when the award is announced.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 27, 2020 1:06 AM |
R16 And she’s terrible.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 27, 2020 1:07 AM |
Eve looked OK on The Talk yesterday.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 27, 2020 1:07 AM |
This format isn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 27, 2020 1:08 AM |
[quote] From what I read, all the nominees had to record acceptance speeches.
Imagine if Deidre Hall was nominated. her acceptance speech would be longer than Susan Lucci's in 1999!
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 27, 2020 1:11 AM |
This is what the Emmys should do in September.
This is far more entertaining than any awards show has been in a while.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 27, 2020 1:18 AM |
It's moving at a good clip. I don't miss watching award winners getting up from their seats and making their way up the aisle to the stage.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 27, 2020 1:20 AM |
Kelly Clarkson, Emmy Winner!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 27, 2020 1:23 AM |
Has anyone ever watched The Bay?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 27, 2020 1:24 AM |
If we could still watch them live at home, waiting to see their name be called, and then give the 30 second speech, that would make this even better.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 27, 2020 1:25 AM |
Loved seeing the clip of Al Freeman, Jr. winning for OLTL in 1979!
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 27, 2020 1:27 AM |
B&B for "best" writing
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 27, 2020 1:35 AM |
Congratulations to Kelly Clarkson! Her show is a hit and now she’s snatching trophies. She don’t need no man!!
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 27, 2020 1:35 AM |
Have they done Guest Actor yet?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 27, 2020 1:36 AM |
Ron should have won the writing award for the time jump. At least he's trying new things.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 27, 2020 1:36 AM |
Days is not doing too well with Ron at the helm. The ratings are shitty even where there is *no* competition during the pandemic!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | June 27, 2020 1:39 AM |
Al Freeman Jr. was great. OLTL was fantastic back then.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | June 27, 2020 1:41 AM |
I can’t believe B&B won for writing! Hilarious!
by Anonymous | reply 49 | June 27, 2020 1:41 AM |
The little guy who played Douglas on B&B should have won best young performer. He was extraordinary this past year, usually running rings around his adult scene partners.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | June 27, 2020 1:43 AM |
Jackie Wood is a beautiful girl, but she needs to lay off the filler.
Maurice Benard is letting himself go.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | June 27, 2020 1:45 AM |
Jesus, Maurice Benard can't even pretend to care about presenting.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | June 27, 2020 1:46 AM |
And this is literally taking place while 77 Trans Women of Color have violently been murdered in the last hour. Y'all are literally killing us!
by Anonymous | reply 53 | June 27, 2020 1:46 AM |
Lead Actor Jason Thompson, Y&R. Jon Lindstrom was robbed again.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | June 27, 2020 1:48 AM |
Holy shit. Heather Tom?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | June 27, 2020 1:49 AM |
Why were Wood and Bernard together? It made me physically uncomfortable.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | June 27, 2020 1:50 AM |
Lead Actress Heather Tom, B&B
by Anonymous | reply 57 | June 27, 2020 1:50 AM |
Maura West must be drinking from a box at this point.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | June 27, 2020 1:52 AM |
Jon Lindstrom robbed again.
Are Jacqueline and Mo neighbors? Only reason I can think of they would be together.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | June 27, 2020 1:52 AM |
[quote] Maura West must be drinking from a box at this point.
She has three Emmys on her shelf
by Anonymous | reply 60 | June 27, 2020 1:52 AM |
With this win, her 6th, Heather Tom ties Erika Slezak for the most wins by a Daytime actress ever.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | June 27, 2020 1:52 AM |
Unreal.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | June 27, 2020 1:53 AM |
The Heather Tom and B&B writing awards are baffling
by Anonymous | reply 63 | June 27, 2020 1:53 AM |
That man and woman sitting next to each other on a couch to announce Best Soap Actor: are they a couple? Are they quarantined together? Or did they break quarantine for this awards show?
by Anonymous | reply 64 | June 27, 2020 1:53 AM |
Days didn't win much this year. At least the actors are saved from the trouble of dressing up and attending a long boring ceremony.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 27, 2020 1:53 AM |
Heather Tom didn't even have her own storyline this year. Her tape was chastising Flo for lying during the Beth saga.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | June 27, 2020 1:54 AM |
R61 That is crazy I don't hate Heather Tom, but she should not be tied with ES.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | June 27, 2020 1:55 AM |
Yay for Fred Rogers. A true original.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | June 27, 2020 1:55 AM |
Is Sharon Osborne sick?
by Anonymous | reply 69 | June 27, 2020 1:57 AM |
r64 No they are not a couple, not even on the same show.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | June 27, 2020 1:57 AM |
What happened to Guest Appearance, did I miss it? Did MEK win?
by Anonymous | reply 71 | June 27, 2020 1:58 AM |
Outstanding Drama is.............................................................Y&R
by Anonymous | reply 72 | June 27, 2020 1:59 AM |
Overall I didn't agree with some winners, but I'm a fan of this format. They made it classy, fun, and entertaining.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | June 27, 2020 2:00 AM |
I did like the format and I expect the ladies of The Talk to suck but they didn't, they did a good job.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | June 27, 2020 2:02 AM |
At the end they said - "Winners are only known at the final editing stage"
So this whole program was edited and packaged a few days ago.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | June 27, 2020 2:02 AM |
R75 Which I am fine with.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | June 27, 2020 2:03 AM |
Tom is so greedy when it comes to the Emmys. It’s a joke she was in the lead category when shes hardly ever on but it’s the bullshit Emmy rules that allow this. Granted it’s been seven years since she’s won, but when you win 5 times previously it seems like 55 times. Her head and her ego just get larger the older she gets.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | June 27, 2020 2:06 AM |
[quote] Granted it’s been seven years since she’s won,
Really it has been that long ago?
by Anonymous | reply 78 | June 27, 2020 2:07 AM |
Marie O looked fantastic
by Anonymous | reply 79 | June 27, 2020 2:07 AM |
R71 I walked out of the room for a few minutes, so I don't know when it aired but according to the Daytime Emmy Twitter account Eve LaRue won for Y&R. Surprisingly it is her first Daytime Emmy award, she should have won at least a supporting one for Maria on AMC.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | June 27, 2020 2:07 AM |
Eva LaRue won Guest Performance
by Anonymous | reply 81 | June 27, 2020 2:08 AM |
Thanks r81
by Anonymous | reply 82 | June 27, 2020 2:09 AM |
that is great about Eva LaRue - she deserves it. A slew of ex-AMC actors will start tweeting out congrats
by Anonymous | reply 83 | June 27, 2020 2:10 AM |
In lieu of the red carpet event, they should now broadcast all the losing nominees' acceptance speeches that won't be used. Sharon Osborne said they'd pre-taped something like 80.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | June 27, 2020 2:13 AM |
Happy for Jason. Is it a first for three different actors to win for the same role?
by Anonymous | reply 85 | June 27, 2020 2:13 AM |
Eva La Rue acceptance speech - she thanks the entire daytime community across all networks for their condolences on the passing of John Callahan
by Anonymous | reply 86 | June 27, 2020 2:15 AM |
Heather Tom is talented, but it's insane that she won for this year.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | June 27, 2020 2:49 AM |
R19 Tell that to Katherine Kelly Lang
by Anonymous | reply 88 | June 27, 2020 3:12 AM |
Tom is a great cryer on screen. She does depression and crying well and the panels that vote always gravitate towards that. I thought West would pull it off, but frankly was underwhelmed by that clip they showed as part of her reel. Tom didn’t have much competition I believe now. Lang has played the biggest, most annoying whore ever on a daytime soap for over thirty years. I don’t think she will ever win.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | June 27, 2020 3:24 AM |
R85, yes. Yes, it is.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | June 27, 2020 3:54 AM |
R89 = Stephanie Forrester
by Anonymous | reply 91 | June 27, 2020 3:55 AM |
Granted, Heather didn't have a LOT last year, but they gave her the kidney story. Katie thought she was going to die, said goodbye to her kid, dealt with her mortality.
She's been on soaps for 30 years and commits in a way that very few do.
She makes it about the work - not the publicity and the photo shoots and all the other stuff.
Annika should have put herself in lead, but Heather still would have won. I wish Susan Hayes had won for Supporting. She nailed that story last year. (Or two years ago, taping wise.)
by Anonymous | reply 92 | June 27, 2020 3:57 AM |
this is crazy; the awards have been over for an hour on the east coast and they're an hour into it on the west coast and less than 100 replies?
how times have changed.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | June 27, 2020 3:59 AM |
R92 yeah I think Tom has a certain standing in the soap world. She’s branched out to directing, even though it’s the crap fest Dynasty. When given a storyline that requires Katie to suffer yet again, she knows how to give it her best.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | June 27, 2020 4:02 AM |
They've also honored Heather over the years for her bravery in publicly suffering from Pinched Sphincter Syndrome.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | June 27, 2020 4:18 AM |
OK, Heather. Congrats on the win. You've proven you can act. You've proved you can deliver the goods. Over and over again. Now step aside and let someone else win.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | June 27, 2020 1:03 PM |
Maurice Benard and Jacqueline MacInnes Woods presenting together really bothers me.
First off, they don't live in the same household. So, for them to present, they forgot about social distancing and sat on the couch together.
Second, for them to pretape that opening of the envelope means they knew who the Best Actor winner was BEFORE anyone else. That means, they could have easily called up Jason Thompson in advance to give him a heads up.
The whole point of an awards show is for the winner to discover he's won at the same time as everyone else does. Don't care if Jason Thompson pretaped his acceptance speech. He should not be allowed to learn in advance that he's won. And yes, the Emmy show likely asked them not to reveal the winner, but the soap world is very small. I sincerely doubt Mo and Jacquie could have kept that news to themselves.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | June 27, 2020 1:11 PM |
If you're awarding someone for Most Boring Performance, then Bryton James certain deserves the award.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | June 27, 2020 1:12 PM |
R97 Everything was pre-taped. Everyone had to record speeches as well.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | June 27, 2020 1:32 PM |
r99 Yes, that was obvious everything was pretaped. Yes, I know every nominee prerecorded acceptance speeches.
My point was that Maurice Benard and Jacquie Woods had information about who the winner of Best Actor was in advance of the airing of the show. That goes against the spirit of an awards show.
Someone not directly connected to the winner should have pretaped the bit announcing the winner. Emmy producers should have planned this out better to make sure people announcing the winner of the category weren't connected to the nominees.
Kelsey Grammer wasn't going to tell Heather Tom in advance she won Best Actress. Those two have no connection (that we know of).
On the other hand, Maurince Benard worked with Jason Thompson for 10 years at GH. Jacquie Woods works on B&B which tapes at CBS Television City in studios right beside Y&R's studios where Jason now works. Thus, they both have a direct connection to Jason and were much more likely to have told him that he won in advance. Or whispered it to other soap friends who could have told Jason.
If Steve Burton had been the winner of Best Actor instead of Jason Thompson, do you think that Maurice Benard could have taped a bit on Wednesday which announced his close friend and coworker Steve Burton was the winner and kept his mouth shut until the ceremony aired on Friday night?
by Anonymous | reply 100 | June 27, 2020 1:59 PM |
LOL. I highly doubt either one of them told Jason he won.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | June 27, 2020 2:12 PM |
I was rooting for James Patrick Stuart.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | June 27, 2020 2:17 PM |
R100 I don’t think it really matters IF the winners knew somewhat in advance. Everything is off the table this year as far as normality goes. Everyone kept it to themselves because they knew there would be hell to pay if it got out before the telecast. I’m really unsure why they had to shoehorn Kelsey Grammer in there when he’s associated with prime time primarily. The Bernard and Wood thing was a little awkward. It would’ve made more sense for Bernard to give out actress and Wood actor separately.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | June 27, 2020 2:26 PM |
you know they could have recorded saying every name and edited in the correct one just like they did with the winners
by Anonymous | reply 104 | June 27, 2020 2:43 PM |
Benard and Wood are obviously having a hot and sexy affair, and they INSISTED they present together.
Afterwards, they fucked on that couch.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | June 27, 2020 2:46 PM |
[quote]you know they could have recorded saying every name and edited in the correct one just like they did with the winners
That's a good point. Let's hope that's what they did.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | June 27, 2020 2:54 PM |
r104; I bet that they did that.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | June 27, 2020 6:22 PM |
That is what they did, r104. The presenters had to record themselves announcing each nominee as the winner.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | June 27, 2020 6:59 PM |
R98 I agree with that. I watched Y&R last year and Devon was such a boring sad sack for the whole 2019!
by Anonymous | reply 109 | June 27, 2020 7:34 PM |
[quote] This is crazy; the awards have been over for an hour on the east coast and they're an hour into it on the west coast and less than 100 replies?
By the time the first hour ended, it may have been past a lot viewers bedtime, or they decided to watch a rerun of 20/20.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | June 27, 2020 7:38 PM |
I will be winning Outstanding Lead Actress next year for my portrayal of Katherine Shepherd Reynolds Chancellor Thurston Sterling Murphy on Y&R, the number one daytime drama for over three decades.

OOps.
