Who's tried Ann Miller's six egg diet?

...as referenced in the Mame thread.

I couldn't find anything online to link specifically to Ann's version, but I did find this encouraging user report.

You can eat boiled eggs and lose weight fast.

by Anonymousreply 1June 26, 2020 7:30 PM

Does it contain corn?

by Anonymousreply 2June 26, 2020 7:33 PM

I’m a keto eater and I love eggs, but this sounds unbearable.

by Anonymousreply 3June 26, 2020 7:37 PM

eat as many boiled eggs as you like for 3 days and you will lose at least 5 lbs.

by Anonymousreply 4June 26, 2020 7:43 PM

Can I substitute Egg Beaters?

by Anonymousreply 5June 26, 2020 7:51 PM

All that egg and no starches?

Bitch won’t admit it but she spent that 5 days on the shitter.

by Anonymousreply 6June 26, 2020 7:58 PM

you can scramble but it adds oil and calories. boiled eggs and a salad. you could egg salad but dill pickles and mayo. ok celery...no onion or sugar veggies. green bell pepper would work. as little oils as possible.

by Anonymousreply 7June 26, 2020 8:01 PM

I had some success on the Judy Garland Diet (half a bottle of uppers and half a bottle of downers a day, plus unlimited Scotch) but was thinking about trying the Debbie Reynolds Diet (you eat only carpet) but I don't think I could stomach it.

by Anonymousreply 8June 26, 2020 8:07 PM

Ann Miller was known for being the gal with ham-n-eggs, between the legs.

by Anonymousreply 9June 26, 2020 8:08 PM

Ann was one of the most talented dancers ever. She also had a lot of pain and struggle throughout her life. Despite that, she had a good heart, which is hard to encounter in Hollywood. At a time when gay men were oppressed beyond belief, they identified with her struggles, and she theirs.

by Anonymousreply 10June 26, 2020 8:13 PM

Is this diet dangerous?

by Anonymousreply 11June 26, 2020 8:14 PM

Come again r7, this time in English please.

by Anonymousreply 12June 26, 2020 8:14 PM

My parents were friends with a couple who went on a fried chicken diet in the late 80s. It was the kookiest thing where, but like all crash diets, it worked because they got sick of eating fried chicken all the time. I imagine they spent as much time in the bathroom as poor Annie did on her egg diet.

by Anonymousreply 13June 26, 2020 8:15 PM

On the keto diet, there’s immediate weight loss due to water shed. Then when you’re in ketosis, the body burns stored fat. It works, and once you get past the cravings, it’s easy. The problem is when you’re in social situations and people pester you about not having just one little piece of Cheryl’s birthday cake.

This egg diet needs fat to work.

by Anonymousreply 14June 26, 2020 9:42 PM

[quote]eat as many boiled eggs as you like for 3 days and you will lose at least 5 lbs.

And all your friends.

by Anonymousreply 15June 26, 2020 10:13 PM

That many eggs a day (especially because they show hard-boiled eggs!) for five days would have me farting up a storm.

by Anonymousreply 16June 26, 2020 10:22 PM

r16 Hence my answer.

We didn't call her "Tessie Toots" behind the scenes for nothing!

Ann’s version, with lots of other good advice.

You can eat 6 eggs, 6 apples, 6 low calorie ice cream bars, 6 drumsticks, or anything that keeps you around or under 500 calories a day and you will lose weight.

by Anonymousreply 22June 26, 2020 11:44 PM

I use to eat a lot of eggs but it gave me headaches.

by Anonymousreply 23June 26, 2020 11:49 PM

Also eggzema R23

by Anonymousreply 24June 26, 2020 11:53 PM

That's why they called her Stinky Little Ann.

by Anonymousreply 25June 27, 2020 1:00 AM

R22 - that's what I was thinking. 6 eggs are around 480 calories. So with some cheese and fat, you're still probably less than 800 calories a day.

You will lose weight on any diet restriction like that.

There is no quick and easy method to drop weight fast. Every diet iteration over the last 75 years has taught us this. Yet we still fall for it.

by Anonymousreply 26June 27, 2020 1:14 AM

Lady can eat six egg but there is better uses. For the example, six egg fit nicely in poosey. Show the man and then waalaa! Lady get the money to buy tastier lunch!

A fad diet will make you lose and can be used as a reset or get back on track tool.

by Anonymousreply 28June 27, 2020 5:51 AM

Let's do a group Datalounge 5-day 6-egg diet starting Monday!

by Anonymousreply 29June 27, 2020 5:53 AM

R29 reminds me of Joan Crawford’s diet advice: form a diet group with your friends (other sixty-something blue haired matrons) because you’ll give up anything to avoid having Ida Johnson lose more weight than you.

Machine gun fahrts, honey. They put a speed o meter on my tush, 500 toots a minute! One technician actually cried!

by Anonymousreply 39June 30, 2020 2:25 PM

Why would you need to skip the pickles?

by Anonymousreply 40June 30, 2020 2:31 PM

Is R7 remotely acquainted with syntax or sentence structure?

by Anonymousreply 41June 30, 2020 5:47 PM

Weight loss is calories in < calories out; in other words, eat less calories and burn more, aka "Diet and exercise."

I can't imagine the gas I would have after just two days of nothing but eggs and cheese. I love how she pushes mayonnaise like it's diversifying the diet; mayo is mostly eggs to begin with.

by Anonymousreply 42June 30, 2020 5:50 PM

Okay girls, who did the six egg diet with me this week? Tell me about it, and about the troubles with your husband!

by Anonymousreply 43July 4, 2020 4:06 AM

I am transfixed with Anne's nose. Hardly anything left. Going back in time - I remember the Kenley Players in eastern Ohio. Lived in PA near the border so would go over and take in a show or two.

by Anonymousreply 44July 4, 2020 4:53 AM

I just might try it. I've been dieting with the goal of losing 20 pounds. I still need to lose 6 more pounds and it's taking forever. This diet could speed things up, I'm only losing about 1.5 pounds a week.

by Anonymousreply 45July 4, 2020 5:14 AM

Bump

Who puts dill pickles in egg salad? Is this some weird thing from some weird part of the country?

by Anonymousreply 50January 5, 2021 4:21 AM

I'm the three lettuce leaves a day diet

by Anonymousreply 51January 5, 2021 4:22 AM

After downing six hard-boiled eggs a day, Ann could fart as speedily as she tapped, breaking world speed records in both activities!

by Anonymousreply 52January 5, 2021 4:26 AM

R14 eggs contains as much fat as they do protein, and the rest is water.

by Anonymousreply 53January 5, 2021 4:30 AM

R14, who among us has been in a social situation since March?

Cheryl can eat all of her own damn cake.

This guy has some interesting ideas about diets. He says that when we eat delicious food our brain becomes conditioned to want more just like any addiction. We unconsciously associate food with pleasure, comfort and celebration.

Anderson Cooper has stated that he finds it easy to stay slim because he has no interest in food. His taste receptors are dull so to him food is just fuel and nothing more.

People who recommend eating bland food say that you will eventually use food as fuel rather living to eat. You won't crave more and more unsalted tomatoes, chicken, fish etc with no spices. It won't fly with most people though.

When I was a young, my mom used to make me eat her latest crash diet about once every quarter, which only lasted for about 2-3 days. She was never fat (neither was I), but would always go on a diet as soon as she gained 5 pounds. One of those crash diets consisted of boiled eggs and green beans for lunch and dinner, and a sensible breakfast consisting of a grapefruit and a glass of orange juice. We were both hungry, gassy, and miserable for 72 hours, but my mother managed to lose 4 pounds. To this day I like to remind her that I can still get her for child abuse retroactively.

by Anonymousreply 74July 17, 2021 6:51 PM

Not to me.

by Anonymousreply 75July 17, 2021 6:52 PM

What do you put in your egg salad then, boss?

by Anonymousreply 76July 17, 2021 6:55 PM

Anyone still buying in to the now thoroughly debunked myth about dietary cholesterol being bad for you has my condolences.

Dill pickles (not the sweet kind) are great for weight loss and have been a dieter's friend for generations. Sauerkraut too.
