Holly Robinson Peete's daughter comes out as a lesbian

ryanepeete I was debating making this post, but it’s important to me so I’m going to go forth! I haven’t directly talked about this on Instagram, but I’ve been openly gay for about a year and a half now. I never thought that I’d ever be this comfortable with myself, and it’s crazy to me that I can now say this with pride. Coming to terms with this has not been a comfortable journey. I’m forever grateful for my time at NYU and all of the incredible experiences I had in college. But if I’m going to be completely transparent, I spent most of time in college severely depressed as I struggled to accept myself. There were times while in school where I didn’t want to exist anymore because I didn’t want to be gay. I was reading old journal entries from my junior year, and and breaks my heart thinking about how much I hated myself as I struggled to contextualize the confusing feelings I had for girls. Liking women used to bring me a lot of shame, but I’m so grateful for the comfort I have in myself now.

I’m thankful for my immediate family, who accepts and embraces me fully with open arms. I’m grateful for the friends I made while in school who were there for me when I was at my lowest. I’m thankful for all of the black queer people before me who fought for my right to live my life authentically and openly. In the midst of everything going on, here is a friendly reminder: If your revolution doesn’t include black queer voices, it’s anti-black. Happy pride month, thank youuuuu ❤️

Why are you being flippant?

Oh, never mind, Just saw your other posts. Are you still calling for the heads of the people who poisoned the three cops at shakeshack? Nothing to say about that when the truth came out, eh?

She is really pretty.

I am so tired of these Millenials and Gen Zs praising themselves for their amazing bravery when they come out. Honey, nobody cares if you're as queer as a three-dollar bill these days.

You should praise the courage of those who came out in the 1980's and earlier. That was real bravery, and they are the reason it is so easy for you.

That's nonsense. We don't need to get Oppression Olympics about it. If it was so easy, she wouldn't have gone through her college year(s) in a haze of depression. She's not lying about that for Instagram likes, dear.

Her grandfather was a star on "Sesame Street."

by Anonymousreply 12June 25, 2020 11:38 PM

Her parents have been doing those extremely annoying TV commercials for scammy Lipozene for several years.

Holly Robinson is so pretty, I bet her daughter's a fug.

by Anonymousreply 14June 25, 2020 11:43 PM

R11, are you even listening to yourself? She fucking came out *on Instagram*. Of course she is doing it for social media reasons. That is the purpose of Instagram - to put yourself on public display!

Holly was such a bitch on "The Apprentice" to Cyndi Lauper. I stopped watching as soon as Trump fired Cyndi, a really good person who Holly backstabbed. Yes, I feel ashamed to have watched at all back then. But even then I could tell that Ivanka was a royal bitch how she presented herself and it was weird how Trump looked, well, attracted to her. But Holly deserved to have been fired before Cyndi.

Is this a phase? Whatever the case, I hope her family is being supportive for real, not just for social media and then grandma makes snide remarks about scissors and clams.

by Anonymousreply 17June 26, 2020 12:15 AM

I don't understand the criticism from some posters here. We should be encouraging and supportive of anyone who chooses to come out.

Is it easier these days than in previous decades? absolutely but it's still a big step. The more people come out, the better and more normal it becomes
