Just FYI
That sounds stupid. The name needs an adjective in there.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 25, 2020 4:54 PM |
Well, that’ll help.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 25, 2020 4:55 PM |
R1, I agree.
Was Dixie considered racists?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 25, 2020 4:55 PM |
Apparently the word "Dixie" has come under fire in the past.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 25, 2020 4:57 PM |
Wow. Bad name, they should have just changed it entirely.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 25, 2020 4:59 PM |
Dishie Shish
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 25, 2020 5:03 PM |
Dixie is a derivative of the Mason-Dixon line, which was literally the demarcation line between free states and slave states.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 25, 2020 5:04 PM |
Love them!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 25, 2020 5:04 PM |
I live in the south and yes, people who use "Dixie" are considered to have an affinity for the "old south." It's a time of change so I say throw out Dixie, the Confederacy, the KKK, statues to "confederate heros" (who were actually Amercian traitors), and all of that bullshit that should have ended decades ago.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 25, 2020 5:04 PM |
I wish I was in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten,
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land.
In Dixie Land where I was born in, early on a frosty mornin',
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land.
Then I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand to live and die in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie,
Away, away, away down South in Dixie.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 25, 2020 5:07 PM |
Should've went with "The Dickies Chicks", then simply wait for the Dickies endorsement cash to come flowing in.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 25, 2020 5:07 PM |
Thanks I'll let 2001 know
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 25, 2020 5:07 PM |
I always preferred Tom Lehrer's version:
I wanna go back to Dixie Take me back to dear ol' Dixie That's the only li'l ol' place for li'l ol' me Ol' times there are not forgotten Whuppin' slaves and sellin' cotton And waitin' for the Robert E. Lee (It was never there on time) I'll go back to the Swanee Where pellagra makes you scrawny And the Honeysuckle clutters up the vine I really am a-fixin' To go home and start a-mixin' Down below that Mason-Dixon line Oh, poll tax, how I love ya, how I love ya My dear old poll tax
Etc
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 25, 2020 5:18 PM |
I know a woman named Dixie. Does she have to change her name too?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 25, 2020 5:19 PM |
[Quote]Should've went with
Oh, dear.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 25, 2020 5:22 PM |
Should have gone with The Dykie Chicks.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 25, 2020 5:25 PM |
The "Chicks" is ableist and transphobic! Boycott! Cancel!!!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 25, 2020 5:28 PM |
They should have gone with The Cool Chicks like Taylor hinted.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 25, 2020 5:37 PM |
Thank you for that, r17. To return the favor, I'll let you know the comma after "Oh" was not needed.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 25, 2020 5:47 PM |
And ‘Chicks’ is just fucking fine?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 25, 2020 6:09 PM |
Boring new name. I didn't realise until recently that "Dixie" is a controversial word.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 25, 2020 6:56 PM |
The Chicks is such a misogynist slur objectifying women . I am offended.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 25, 2020 6:57 PM |
[quote]The Chicks is such a misogynist slur objectifying women . I am offended.
Should have changed to “The They/Thems”.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 25, 2020 6:59 PM |
If they had went with The Dickless Chicks instead, they would have run afoul with the Trans Community. So this was the safer option.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 25, 2020 7:02 PM |
I agree with r11. Dixie definitely has a certain connotation in the South. It wasn't true 20-30 years ago maybe, but it certainly is today. It is high time for all this to go.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 25, 2020 7:17 PM |
I'm glad I'm dead!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 25, 2020 7:23 PM |
Hope The Stonewall Inn doesn’t become “The Inn”
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 25, 2020 7:24 PM |
In related news, famous plantations in Louisiana such as the Magnolia Mound Plantation will delete "Plantation" from its names. For example, Magnolia Mound has been re-christened "Magnolia Mound Persons of Color Free Labor Farm."
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 25, 2020 7:34 PM |
^^^Update, it's now "Magnolia Mound Gender-free Persons of Color Free-Labor Collective."
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 25, 2020 7:35 PM |
r31 I thought you were joking but I Googled it and it's true! :-o
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 25, 2020 7:36 PM |
Lady Antebellum has also become Lady A.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 25, 2020 7:44 PM |
[quote]Lady Antebellum has also become Lady A.
I think "Lady Anti-antebellum" would have been more profound a statement.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 25, 2020 7:45 PM |
I think Lady Auntie Bellbottom would suffice.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 25, 2020 7:47 PM |
What will become of Dixie cups? Will they just go by “cups?”
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 25, 2020 7:48 PM |
I vote for "Lady Pig Bottom"
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 25, 2020 7:49 PM |
The Dixie Cups are black and somewhat dead.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 25, 2020 7:50 PM |
I'm guessing "The Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations" will need to change its name as well.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 25, 2020 8:55 PM |
R41 yeah, there are efforts underway in the legislature to do that
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 25, 2020 8:59 PM |
They should have changed the whole band name. The Chicks sounds even stupider. What the hell kind of 70s era word is chick.
Country music stinks to high heaven anyway. Cancel it!
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 25, 2020 9:00 PM |
I think they should go with The Regal Ladies of a Certain Age as their new name.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 25, 2020 9:15 PM |
They should call themselves after an osbcure actor. "The Hairline of Adrian Pasdar," perhaps.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 25, 2020 9:19 PM |
R45 Well I guess that’s not as drastic as Billy Zane.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 25, 2020 9:28 PM |
How embarrassing to have to copy Lady Antebellum.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | June 25, 2020 11:01 PM |
It is soooooo fucking easy to add "...with Dicks" to this.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | June 25, 2020 11:10 PM |
Everyone hated when Johnny Cougar changed his name to John Cougar Mellencamp but eventually we got over it. The same will happen for The Chicks.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | June 25, 2020 11:14 PM |
R49 The Chicks Mellencamp does have a nice ring to it.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | June 25, 2020 11:44 PM |
Or Cougar Chicks!
by Anonymous | reply 51 | June 25, 2020 11:46 PM |
too bad. everyone will forever call them by the Dixie Chicks.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | June 26, 2020 7:01 AM |
When will neo-soul has-been India Arie change her name? For a privileged American with no connections to India to be named after that country must be offensive to Indians.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | June 26, 2020 7:09 AM |
R54 and to Bangladeshis who are mistaken by Indians
by Anonymous | reply 55 | June 26, 2020 10:29 AM |
Lady Antebellum morphs clumsily into Lady A.
The Dixie Chicks transmogrify into The (Sexist?) Chicks.
You're next, Confederate Railroad.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | June 27, 2020 5:09 AM |
They could have at least changed it to the Cis Chicks.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | June 27, 2020 5:13 AM |
R57 Sis Chicks would be better.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | June 27, 2020 9:49 AM |
I still think Dykie Chicks fit. Or "Me, Natalie."
by Anonymous | reply 59 | June 27, 2020 10:50 AM |
R58 You win
