I live in the south and yes, people who use "Dixie" are considered to have an affinity for the "old south." It's a time of change so I say throw out Dixie, the Confederacy, the KKK, statues to "confederate heros" (who were actually Amercian traitors), and all of that bullshit that should have ended decades ago.

I agree with r11. Dixie definitely has a certain connotation in the South. It wasn't true 20-30 years ago maybe, but it certainly is today. It is high time for all this to go.
