George Maharis was pissed at the Playgirl photographer for not shooting him full-frontal. He said something to the effect of "Why? It's what God gave me!" They compromised and shot a few photos with "some of his penis" in them. He really wanted to show everything. Why Playgirl was nervous about it I don't understand. They weren't so unwilling with other celebs in that first year.
