Why hasn't South Park been cancelled yet?

It is the single most RACIST, SEXIST, HOMOPHOBIC, XENOPHOBIC, TRANSPHOBIC, and every other possible PHOBIC you could ever name.

It is a hateful show that incites bigotry.

And calling it "comedy" does nothing to disguise the fact that the show is founded on hate.

#CANCELSOUTHPARK

by Anonymousreply 112March 18, 2021 11:46 PM

It's hilarious

by Anonymousreply 1June 25, 2020 12:56 AM

It's still one of the funniest shows on TV.

by Anonymousreply 2June 25, 2020 12:57 AM

Maybe it's because no one is spared. They don't single out one specific race, culture, subculture, etc. - they make fun of everyone.

I'm sorry for you, OP.

by Anonymousreply 3June 25, 2020 12:57 AM

OP=Cunt Karen.

Aren't you overdue to wax your upper lip?

by Anonymousreply 4June 25, 2020 12:58 AM

Satire must always be viewed through different lenses. South Park is one of the best satires in television history. Leave it alone.

by Anonymousreply 5June 25, 2020 12:59 AM

It doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is and points out the hypocrisies in our society with laser like precision.

Not unlike the fool in the king’s court who is the only person allowed to tell the truth without fearing retribution.

by Anonymousreply 6June 25, 2020 1:00 AM

OP was probably very upset about "Stunning and Brave".

by Anonymousreply 7June 25, 2020 1:00 AM

It WAS funny. That was years ago. Now it isn’t even watchable.

It won’t be cancelled because it was already targeted by the right. The left has been much more successful than the right ever has been about censorship, but the left doesn’t want to be “seen” as such. It won’t go after things that the right already tried to cancel.

by Anonymousreply 8June 25, 2020 1:01 AM

OP:

Respeck!

Mah!

Uh-THAW-TAY!

by Anonymousreply 9June 25, 2020 1:03 AM

Who cares about it being offensive or not? It's overrated, formulaic slop. Hasn't been funny since the late '90s. A rip-off of Meet the Feebles.

by Anonymousreply 16June 25, 2020 1:21 AM

What tragedy happened in your childhood, OP, that doesn't allow you to experience satirical (albeit goofy/lame) humor?

by Anonymousreply 17June 25, 2020 1:21 AM

The show honestly has not been funny in over 15 years.

The only episodes I ever watched were Rainforest, Trapper Keeper, Cartman and that North American Marlon Brando Look Alike (you know the acronym) episode, Succubus, Mega Barbara Streisand, and a few others.

The rest of the episodes are nothing but shit.

by Anonymousreply 18June 25, 2020 1:22 AM

The two best seasons were season 5 and season 8.

by Anonymousreply 19June 25, 2020 1:22 AM

this has got to be one of those threads of someone starting shit for shit's sake.

or else you are a true idiot OP

that said this sho hasn't been funny in over 15 years. it's unwatchable now.

can someone start a thread about BEN BARNES?? pls what is he up to. has he self-imploded due to boredom? I just want pics

by Anonymousreply 20June 25, 2020 1:23 AM

I thought "The Brown Noise" was kind of funny.

Mr. Garrison goes home to Arkansas to be molested by his father... lol.

by Anonymousreply 21June 25, 2020 1:24 AM

It's OP starting shit for shit's sake.

I think we should #cancelOP

And yes the "South Park isn't funny anymore" comments are as original as the ones about "Who still watches Saturday Night Live?"

by Anonymousreply 22June 25, 2020 1:27 AM

Wow, you can just tell that Matt Stone and Trey Parker post here.

I have never seen anyone more defensive and more butt hurt about criticism, than R4, R17, R20, and R22.

Plus the numerous other posts showing support for this crappy show.

Trust me, the average Datalounger couldn't give two fucks about South Park and its Libertarian Right Wing Cunt positions, so you know that Matt and Trey are the ones who are posting.

Just goes to show you that they can dish it out, but they can't take criticism. How typical.

by Anonymousreply 23June 25, 2020 1:32 AM

The libertarian right wing cunt stuff and their takes on current events are never funny, and that's all they've done for 10+ years. South Park was great when they did shows about childhood (Awesomo, Casa Bonita, etc) and popular culture (Ben Affleck, Paris Hilton and so on).

by Anonymousreply 24June 25, 2020 1:37 AM

Exactly, R24!

The minute their show started taking political positions, it became hateful and unfunny.

And VERY preachy.

by Anonymousreply 25June 25, 2020 1:40 AM

Good point OP. I used to be offended by it in the 90s - but have grown to love it. In large part because ive lightened up about politics and PC culture. But it does seem like an obvious target. Kudos to them for navigating through it all - if they can. Their take on the riots would be interesting.

by Anonymousreply 26June 25, 2020 1:41 AM

[quote] Their take on the riots would be interesting

Naturally, it would be anti-BLM.

They're nothing more than Republican shills, posing as Libertarians.

by Anonymousreply 27June 25, 2020 1:43 AM

I do like the goth characters though.

by Anonymousreply 28June 25, 2020 1:48 AM

by Anonymousreply 39June 25, 2020 2:13 AM

The Scientology episode and the episode where they kill Chef was brilliant. It’s a smart show that isn’t hateful at all. OP is like Marge Simpson trying to take the violence out of The Itchy & Scratchy Show. “They love, they share...”.

by Anonymousreply 40June 25, 2020 2:14 AM

my favorite is the episode with Ike and the Canadians. I also love the WWBBD song (what would brian boitano do)

It's Libertarian crap.

When they stay away from politics, it can be quite funny.

by Anonymousreply 51June 25, 2020 4:17 AM

R46 This bitch who wrote this article is so fucking exhausting. This woman views everything through the scope of politics and assumes everyone else does the same. Trey & Matt don't.

by Anonymousreply 52June 25, 2020 4:18 AM

That's a simplistic reading, R51.

by Anonymousreply 53June 25, 2020 4:18 AM

If you really want a good laugh, check out the avclub reviews of South Park the past couple of seasons. They might as well just stop covering the show, because the people who write there are more interested in showing off their SJW credentials than paying attention to the episode. They really really hated it when the show did another trans episode last season.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 54June 25, 2020 4:21 AM

by Anonymousreply 55June 25, 2020 5:12 AM

It's libertarian crap with real hatred for liberals. I stopped watching years ago.

by Anonymousreply 56June 25, 2020 5:15 AM

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, R56.

by Anonymousreply 57June 25, 2020 5:16 AM

You'd want a kid like Cartman, R58?

by Anonymousreply 59June 25, 2020 5:19 AM

G was way too old to play Nellie in South Park.

by Anonymousreply 60June 25, 2020 5:35 AM

(59) Yes, I know he's spoiled and obnoxious, but he's hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 61June 25, 2020 5:45 AM

[R3] People often say that, but how does that make sense? If someone is racist against all races, are they no longer racist? I don't get how because they purposefully say derogatory things about many different groups of people that they are somehow immune to being called out. It also seems that whenever something is said as part of comedy it's OK. A comedian can say the n word or f word and as long as they make a "joke" out of it people will defend it to death. I suppose if Roseanne included something about eating bananas in her ape comment she'd have stayed put.

by Anonymousreply 62June 25, 2020 5:54 AM

For me South Park is not only the show we want, but the kind of show we need in a healthy sociaty. If we can't laugh about ourselves, our politicians, our celebrities from all different outcomes, races, religions, etc, it's a symtom. The need of cancel a free spirit comedy show comes always from bigotry and repression. First is this and next is burning books. This were the ways of the right for centuries, now is the way of the "liberals" too. Well, fuck both of you.

by Anonymousreply 63June 25, 2020 6:03 AM

Every episode with the PC Babies or PC Principle sucks.

by Anonymousreply 64June 25, 2020 6:03 AM

It’s no longer funny. It’s as irrelevant and dated as The Simpsons. I enjoyed probably the first two seasons. Then everything became a Right-wing wankfest and pulled straight from the headlines. It just screamed laziness. The whole saying “you’re so gay” or “that’s do gay” is not a slur against homosexuals just showed how outdated the creators had become. I’m all for anti-political correctness, but they just get on a soap box waaaay too much.

by Anonymousreply 65June 25, 2020 6:12 AM

[quote] For me South Park is not only the show we want, but the kind of show we need in a healthy sociaty. If we can't laugh about ourselves, our politicians, our celebrities from all different outcomes, races, religions, etc, it's a symtom.

Matt Stone

by Anonymousreply 72June 25, 2020 7:05 AM

I have never seen such a rabid reaction to a topic, as there is to this one.

Why do the South Parkers get so batshit insane, when their show is criticized?

It's like no other reaction I've ever seen before on Datalounge.

OP must have really hit a nerve.

by Anonymousreply 73June 25, 2020 7:43 AM

R74 you really love hyperbole, don't you?

by Anonymousreply 74June 25, 2020 9:58 AM

^ obviously that should be r73.

by Anonymousreply 75June 25, 2020 9:58 AM

I think the only "butt hurt" person who seems over-the-top might just be you, R23.

P.S. - huh huh, you said butt hurt

by Anonymousreply 76June 25, 2020 11:00 AM

R72 He has a right to say that and make entertainment skewing liberals. Just as a liberal comedian has the right to make fun of fucktard regressive Republicans. Just because I don’t agree with or find something funny it doesn’t mean I have a right to ban it for all people.

That said, SP is like the Simpsons and other long-running show, the schtick that was once refreshing becomes formulaic and stale. Politics have little to do with a lot of it.

by Anonymousreply 77June 25, 2020 11:08 AM

I second R74. With all that hyperbole it really sounds like Dear Leader.

As far as SP being a right-wing wank fest ESMR for incels, so what?!

I watch what I like to watch, regardless of who else also likes it. I’d think you’re an idiot if you let others’ habits dictate yours (or contra-dictate in this case). That is just purely short-sighted, small thinking shit

by Anonymousreply 78June 25, 2020 2:35 PM

"As far as SP being a right-wing wank fest ESMR for incels, so what?!"

Except it isn't that. It's an equal opportunity insult show. If one doesn't like it, one doesn't have to watch it.

Sorry cancel culture cunts.

by Anonymousreply 79June 25, 2020 3:02 PM

R77, I didn't say anything about banning it. I just think it's absolute the worst, utter Libertarian garbage, and any liberals who watch it are self-loathing idiots, but that doesn't mean I want it banned.

by Anonymousreply 80June 25, 2020 3:27 PM

OP is as funny as a crutch.

by Anonymousreply 81June 25, 2020 3:29 PM

R79, it certainly wasn't equal opportunity insulting back when I watched it. Conservatives got softballs, while liberals got slammed, repeatedly, for everything. They bashed the Catholic church a bit, but that was just picking low-hanging fruit.

Matt Stone meant it when he said he really hates liberals.

by Anonymousreply 82June 25, 2020 4:17 PM

The show isn't founded on hate. It's founded on uncovering the hypocrisy of institutions and movements.

by Anonymousreply 83June 25, 2020 5:11 PM

[quote] It's founded on uncovering the hypocrisy of institutions and movements.

That's funny, because not one show has been done about trump's hypocrisy.

NOT. ONE.

by Anonymousreply 84June 25, 2020 5:16 PM

[quote] That's funny, because not one show has been done about trump's hypocrisy.

Are you the one still watching the show?

by Anonymousreply 85June 25, 2020 5:23 PM

[quote] That's funny, because not one show has been done about trump's hypocrisy.

Trump's hypcrisy is so blatantly obvious that they don't have to specifically point it out

by Anonymousreply 86June 25, 2020 5:24 PM

Always an excuse for them, huh R86?

They're not racist and homophobic, it's just "humor."

Trump doesn't need to be called out, he does it to himself.

Such bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 87June 25, 2020 5:27 PM

“The Nannies” episode where Cartman psychologically breaks the proper English nannies because he refuses to play by their “time out” rules - and they bring in Caesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer, to train him epitomizes the DL view of child rearing. That episode alone will always endear South Park to me. Whenever I see uncontrolled brats running wild - I think they need to be trained like a dog.

by Anonymousreply 88June 25, 2020 5:50 PM

“Tsst!”

That’s a technique we could use on some of the uppity bitches here too R88

by Anonymousreply 89June 25, 2020 6:02 PM

R88 I would also subscribe to the idea that all small children be leashed when out shopping with parents. It always brings a smile to my face whenever I see toddlers wearing child leashes/ harnesses. I think now there’s a parent who knows how to rein in a feral child.

by Anonymousreply 90June 25, 2020 6:31 PM

I used to love the show. It used to be "appointment TV" and "water-cooler TV" for me and many friends.

Since 2016 at least, it's gone way down-hill, with far more misses than hits. It still has moments, but they're few and far between. I watch still, but there have been some episodes where the entire thing was tedious unfunny crap, and others where there were only a few good bits, barely making it worth sitting through.

I will say the "Scooter" halloween episode was brilliant, a couple of years ago. But again, that kind of episode was hilarious in the moment (because anyone in a big or even medium-sized city was LIVING that nonsense with scooters suddenly showing up all over), but it'll be completely dated by now, and nobody will 'get it' in a few years.

by Anonymousreply 91June 25, 2020 6:39 PM

Remember, Matt & Trey did that sit-com "That's My Bush!" back in 2000... which was practically a love-letter to the guy.

by Anonymousreply 92June 25, 2020 6:41 PM

They went on record saying they would never mock Trump because it's too easy. The man is a parody himself.

by Anonymousreply 93June 25, 2020 7:59 PM

Nobody watches South Park any way, so there's no point in cancelling it.

by Anonymousreply 94June 26, 2020 12:37 PM

If it's still on the air, somebody is watching it. I watched several seasons of it (though not lately). It was NOT only against liberals. That's bullshit.

"That's My Bush" was in no way a love letter to Bush. That's pure nonsense. They had to take it off the air after 9-11 because it was perceived as being too anti-Bush for the time.

by Anonymousreply 95June 26, 2020 1:59 PM

South Park caves in a lot. They won't attack any Muslim or black group with the same way they attack whites, Asians and Hispanics or Catholics, Jews or Scientologists and Mormons.

You'd never hear Cartman say anything bad about African Americans but he'll spew garbage about Jews, gays, and a host of others.

As long as they keep to those safe groups they'll be fine.

by Anonymousreply 96June 27, 2020 1:16 AM

R96, you need to do your research. One of their episodes specifically centered around Mohammad and was censored after they were threatened.

"Prior to the broadcast of "201", the radical Muslim organization Revolution Muslim posted a warning on their website that Parker and Stone risked being murdered for their depiction of Muhammad. Comedy Central modified Parker and Stone's version of the episode, obscuring all images and bleeping all references to Muhammad—to the effect of disruptively obscuring the entire two-minute moral conclusion of the story."

Garbage show for garbage people.

Doing an entire episode saying it's ok to use the slurs fag and faggot because it doesn't mean gay.

That's what I need in my life; a couple of wealthy right wing white hets telling me what is and is not ok to say.

by Anonymousreply 102March 10, 2021 10:25 PM

Having seen it, the second vaccination special could very well be the end of 'South Park.'

by Anonymousreply 103March 11, 2021 6:07 AM

South Park needs to be cancelled.

They repeatedly use words like "coon" and "retard" and "spic" etc.

The show is NOT funny.

by Anonymousreply 104March 18, 2021 10:04 PM

Fuck off, R104. I've watched the show a fair amount. They do NOT say any of those repeatedly, you lying cunt.

by Anonymousreply 105March 18, 2021 10:41 PM

South Park should have been cancelled at least 15 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 106March 18, 2021 11:14 PM

Butt-hurt bitches. I hope it's on for another 15 years.

by Anonymousreply 107March 18, 2021 11:27 PM

I'm going to circulate a press release to media outlets, to get South Park cancelled.

It shouldn't be allowed to get away with bigotry, while every one else gets cancelled.

South Park is the worst of all!

by Anonymousreply 108March 18, 2021 11:29 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 109March 18, 2021 11:30 PM

South Park hides its bigotry very stealthily.

It uses the "Cartman" character to say outrageous, hateful, and bigoted things, under the disguise of being a "little kid who doesn't know any better."

The problem is, PARKER AND STONE know better. In fact, they know exactly what they're doing.

They're using hate speech as "comedy," disguised by little children cartoon characters.

This is why the show needs to end.

This is why the show never should have started in the first place.
