I really think a lot of this is drug use. I see so many people saying ridiculously stupid things on Twitter and Facebook, and when you look at their profiles, several years ago they looked good, were out with friends, doing things and having a life. Starting 5-ish years ago they would start posting political rants that made no sense, looking disheveled, their teeth turned different colors, they were never out doing things or in photos with other people, it was always just selfies. They discarded all their interests and are now online 24/7 raving about lizard people and pedo rings and vaccines.

We have one lady in the local health dept. Facebook comments who is truly delusional, she thinks she works in the medical field (she apparently stocks the aspirin and cold medicine aisle at Walmart) and will reply to people who don't exist. She's imagining people.

Part of the problem is that no one shuts these people down. We used to. A few years ago the health dept. website would delete the post and say they didn't allow false medical info to be spread, now it's "we respect all opinions" and it's a free-for-all.
