It’s amazing how long these stars stay on the same soap. Or if not one soap then in general. It sucks that they basically can’t get any other work (which justifies more $) but ultimately soaps is probably the most welcome place to older actresses by far. Look at the average age of all these women. And instead of being put out to pasture (unless they’re “really” old) they have the most seniority.

Soaps are a good career for a particular type of actor who wants a steady income and a set schedule that keeps them in one spot year round. I personally feel that talent has very little to do with why some actors become huge stars and others just continue day to day in the same part for many years. Soap acting is hard. Doing 80 pages a day with little to no rehearsal is not for everyone.

I know a lot of people like KA. I have no issues with her, but I see a lot of people get upset and rush to her defense when the truth is spoken about her. KA and Hope Williams Brady are two very different people. KA is a handful and she gets whatever she wants. Just remember that when push came to shove and the show needed to free up cash, it was Dee Hall and her onscreen leading man who got the boot and not KA and PR.
