Sadly his legs are paralyzed because of an accident in the past but this is utter humiliation for Trump. This 24 year old hottie is going to be the GOP candidate.
Ridiculously handsome and 1995 born Madison Cawthorn Walloped Trump endorsed candidate in the GOP primary for NC11 district

by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 24, 2020 1:18 AM |
Fuuuuuuuuuuck. He is hot as hell. Damn
It's an R+25 district, so he's going to win. I wonder exactly how far right he will be
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 24, 2020 1:19 AM |
He will be the youngest congress person. Younger than AOC. He will be only 25 when sworn in. That is the constitutional minimum age for serving in the House of Representatives. Before AOC the record was held by Aaron Schock.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 24, 2020 1:22 AM |
You guys can't be shocked that someone named Madison Cawthorn, who looks like that, is a republican.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 24, 2020 1:22 AM |
Still better than being the Trump-supported Republican candidate. Small steps, people. Sheesh.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 24, 2020 1:26 AM |
Looks like Greg Abbot has some competition.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 24, 2020 1:27 AM |
This guy is a right wing douchebag. Here’s a sample of his beliefs:
WHY I’M RUNNING
I’m running because our faith, our freedoms and our values are under assault from coastal elites and leftists like Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
I am running because America is worth fighting for. I’m a fighter. I’ve overcome great adversity. I will be a strong voice for faith, family & freedom.
HEALTH CARE
I believe patients and doctors, certainly not government bureaucrats, should be in charge of health care decisions.
I’m for expanding choice and competition in our health care system.
I strongly oppose the Democrats’ plans to create socialized medicine.

by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 24, 2020 1:28 AM |

But I'm sure the Trump endorsed candidate was awful, too. So, it's a wash. An awful wash, but a wash, nonetheless.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 24, 2020 1:29 AM |
Sorry but a 25 year old has no business in creating laws and policy. The fuck does he know about anything? Whatever happened to starting as an intern?

I think he’s gay. The gay face doesn’t lie.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 24, 2020 1:39 AM |
They’ll probably roll him out onto the stage at the Republican National Convention so he can attack Joe Biden and the coming socialist takeover. Trump doesn’t give a shit about that other candidate. He’ll pretend that wheels was the one he preferred all along.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 24, 2020 1:39 AM |
I think legislative bodies could do with a good dose of some young idealism. R18. Thomas Jefferson was 25 or 26 when he introduced legislation in the Virginia legislature to make it easier to emancipate slaves.

by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 24, 2020 1:45 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 24, 2020 1:47 AM |
R30 Worth noting Jefferson refused to emacipate his own slaves after he died. Not even Sally Hemings, not even his own half black children. So what he was spouting at 20 was some bullshit he didn't even believe.
And NOTHING Idealistic will come out of the GOP. Just hatred and obstruction

You could make it work. His upper body is on point. I'd want to run my hands all over that. And you could do toys/hand stuff. It's not like anyone wants to marry the guy. But you could definitely have a night of fun even if the dick didn't work

R51 Actually, North Carolina had to redraw its congressional districts under court order, so the 11th District is not as red as it used to be. In fact the only metro area in the district is the liberal city of Asheville. So the Democratic candidate, a former military prosecutor, has a good chance to win.

Why didn't someone tell his mom that Madison is now predominantly a female name?
by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 24, 2020 2:14 AM |
R63 Everything you said is true, but the best election forecasters in the nation Dave Wasserman and Larry Sabato don't think the race is competitve still and I take their word for it. MAYBE Madison's extreme youth turns off some people and that makes the race more competitve. I certainly would love that to be the case but I'm not getting my hopes up. Deplorability runs deep. The modern district still voted for Trump by a big margin and likely will again. The Dem would need ticket splitters.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | June 24, 2020 2:16 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 121 | June 24, 2020 12:52 PM |
The national news was only “all over” AOC R118 because the Republican Party has a propaganda arm. They planted seeds on Fox about what an out of touch communist loon she is; Fox gave that wall-to-wall coverage until the rest of the news outlets noticed and needed to start giving it some credence; and then she’s suddenly getting negative coverage from every network.
This Madysyn Thornbird wheelchair guy will get glowing praise from Fox for being such a young, handsome, conservative, porcelain-faced hero. It will end the moment he makes his first big flop, which will happen real fast. But the coverage won’t turn negative, it will simply stop. And none of the rest of the media will take any notice that Fox stopped rhapsodizing over some random House freshman.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | June 24, 2020 1:04 PM |
R122 I disagree 100% that the national coverage was all a republican plot or that it hurt her or democrats nationally in any way.
The media coverage arose organically. Only a handful of times in the last 50 years has a member of house democratic leadership lost a primary. And he didn't just lose to anyone, it was a stridently far left first time candidate and the youngest congress person in history. That is news and would have been covered nationally no matter what.
And after her primary win and interviews on every major network talking about her progressive wishlist, Democrats won the house with most of the pickups coming from the suburbs that used to vote republican. AOC did not harm Dems at all. In fact there's is some marginal utility in having a figure very loyal to the party and able to sway disillusioned 18-29 year olds like she is.
I think what you said about Madison is probably how it will go though
by Anonymous | reply 123 | June 24, 2020 1:12 PM |
AOC did not harm Dems at all. In fact there's is some marginal utility in having a figure very loyal to the party...
Are we talking about the same person? All I’ve seen her do since day one, with the help of her three comrades in the squad, is try to tear down and hijack the Democratic caucus apparatus for her own political goals and ends. Storming into the house leader’s office and staging a sit in while presenting a policy proposal in your first week on the job doesn’t smack of party loyalty.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | June 24, 2020 1:25 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 125 | June 24, 2020 1:30 PM |
R124 she did that a few weeks after the primary. And a little bit in her first days after election. She cut it out completely after that. Her supporting Pelosi for Speaker and during key moments like the government shut down actually got leftist activists to back off in both cases. She has mostly worked constructively with the party. And while she is to my left personally, I think she has a much right to argue over policy in bills as moderates do, and they are quite vocal about some issues
by Anonymous | reply 126 | June 24, 2020 1:33 PM |

I normally keep my moth shut about things like this, but this is such an example of straight white male privilege. I decided to Google this guy and there are no comments about his lack of experience or his age or anything like that. No calls for him to start in local government or the state legislature or come back when he has some hair on his balls.
I compare this to the treatment that Pete, and I realize that running for POTUS is different than running for the House of Reps, but still. Then there is AOC (I'm not a fan) who was called an uneducated bartender and unqualified and all sorts of other things.
When people say the rules aren't different for straight white guys versus everyone else, I say bullshit.

AOC's response to her personal financial struggles was to try to make policy she believes would alleviate those struggles for other people.
This kid wants to make sure any person poorer than him cannot get the same quality care he got after his accident.
real estate investment provides value unless you're a socialist who thinks property is theft.
You're being just as dogmatic as "socialists". Real estate investment CAN create value as a whole but it depends on what you do. Often gentrification is a net negative for the community if it raises prices so much that people are uprooted or have to depend more heavily on government aid.
The distortive effect it can have when pushed too far is evident in California. Full time employees earning well above the national median salary cannot afford property there. And there's a homeless crisis in SF because it's not in investors interest to build higher capacity cheaper housing that will help the city when they know there are wealthy Google employees who will pay for oversized luxury apartments.

Republicans have a growing roster of attractive enough white men under 60 that they have been sending to Washington. They know that looks matter and an attractive white conservative man can sway America. These types will all be running over the next 4-12 years.
Fuckable Republican Senators under 60:
Tom Cotton (Arkansas - acquired tases, big dick energy)
Josh Hawley (Missouri - face longer than a runway, but the fittest senator)
Marco Rubio (Florida - lol, he's probably done)
Todd Young (Indiana - drunk dad on a golf course vibe)
Ben Sasse (Nebraska - last call at a club)
John Thune (South Dekota - any day, any way)
Honorable Mention: Mitt Romney and his slightly creepy sons.
Democrats have, at best, 4 fuckable senators.
The House is crawling with other young conservatives. They have the hottest interns and staff. Why couldn't they be as ugly as their policies!

Trump still lost face. The president of the United States endorsed someone and they lost 2-1 to a 24 year old no one has ever heard of. Trump loved to brag about his perfect endorsement streak. Now there's another hole in it. It actually wasn't perfect even before this. Luther Strange lost in Alabama too.
In reality all that probably had to happen in a red district like that is they saw a female name on the ballot, said hell no, and picked the male without knowing anything about either of them.

Add to that the honors he has received, including the prestigious Legion of Merit, six Meritorious Service Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Headquarters Air Force Judge Advocate of the Year award, among others.
Moe looks like he belongs in Congress. Maydison looks like he should be hanging out at the bar of a segregated country club. .

by Anonymous | reply 177 | June 24, 2020 11:41 PM |
I haven’t done a deep dive but it appears young Madison had political aspirations on par with a young Aaron Schock.
When he returned to N.C. from his accident after hospitalization, Madison wanted his first stop to be at the Chik-fil-a at which he had worked since he was 14. Thank goodness there was a reporter there to interview him! After noting his intended military career was sidelined he announced he’d be studying political science and had aspirations of running for Congress.
He’s already thrown a little shade today with his remark that “Mark Meadows has done a lot for me and while it would have been nice to have Mr. Meadows’s endorsement... it seems we didn’t need it.”
by Anonymous | reply 178 | June 24, 2020 11:43 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 185 | June 25, 2020 1:35 AM |
I don't mean to raise people's hopes, Madison will probably win. But Moe Davis seems like as strong a candidate as Dems could have. It as actually unusual to elect someone so young and untested as Madison. Aaron Schock is scum but give him his due, he held elected office before running for congress and was fairly articulate. Madison has no discernable accomplishments he can tout whatsoever and can only give a very dry delivery of the most basic republican talking points. He has to depend entirely on his sad story and good looks.
Maybe there is a path for the Dem if he focuses on this being too dangerous a time (Corona, civil unrest) for a kid who has no experience leading anything. The Dem would need to avoid talking about policy and focus on that. Madison really doesn't seem bright, it would help if he seems out of his depth in those interviews. AOC did not, if anything she seemed in her element and that's why I think they helped her

I see nothing wrong with a 25-year-old being elected to Congress. The job is really not that difficult. You spend most of your time dialing for dollars and at campaign events. You also attend a few committee hearings and Party meetings. You only work on legislations a few times a year, unless you are really wonkish, even then your staff will do the real work. You don't have to read the bills, just the notes your staff leaves you, or listen to the Whip's orders. Your staff manages all of the complicated things.
I think any adult that can hold a job can be a backbencher House Member. The 25 age limit was something the Founders got right.
A paraplegic who opposes the expansion of health care for all Americans. He is one awful son of a bitch.
I agree, that's pretty awful on his part. A deceased cousin of mine was a paraplegic. She got hurt in a mountain biking accident at age 16 in the 80s. She was open about how there are various complications related to spinal cord injuries like UTIs, blood clots, bone and joint issues, skin sores, kidney related issues, and other things. She took care of herself for a long time and did what she could stay healthy. When she turned 39, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and passed away a few years later. Cancer and paraplegia wasn't a great combination for her. Pre-cancer, she was the type who did what she could and only would ask for help when it was need. Chemo, radiations, and other treatments left her very weak to the point where she couldn't shower herself, dress herself, and do other daily living tasks that she had been doing on her own for years.
A few years ago, I did a grant writing consulting gig for a disability non-profit and I talked with a few paraplegics and quadriplegics. Like, my cousin they were honest with health issues attached to spinal cord injuries and how it's likely they might not do well if they had to deal with other health issues not related to spinal injuries. One quadriplegic said that she has three surgeries to remove kidney stones related to her injury. Another guy mentioned being hospitalized due to skin sore infections.
While Madison Cawthorne might be in a great shape right now, it's possible that it might not last forever and health issues could easily happen to him.

SPQR initially stood for [italic]Senatus Populusque Romanus[/italic] (the Senate and Roman people), but a growing number of white supremacists have adopted the acronym to symbolize their movement.
The story below was written a year before he organized his company under that name, so it's not like he just thought, "nice letters" or "nice acronym."

The girl says she is currently in contact with a reporter and also that Madison reached out to her after he won the primary and tried to convince her not to talk about the incident

I can attest that the service academies accept very, very few "home schooled" applicants. The Admissions offices at Annapolis, West Point, and USAFA like to see how a kid is ranked against a large pool of peers (in schools, sports, Scouts, clubs, volunteer organizations, etc.)
Madison would have been on the reject pile at the first cut.

Madison and his team believe he's in political jeopardy. Up until now he has completely ignored his Dem opponent and just fed red meat to the base, it's a republican district so it was probably smart.
Now he's acting far more like a traditional candidate trying to win people rather than one with a guaranteed win. And he's addressing the various controversies instead of ignoring them. I don't think he would do this if he didn't believe he might lose. He's on the defensive

by Anonymous | reply 335 | August 16, 2020 3:22 PM |
There are no rape allegations.
He took a girl out on a date and tried to kiss her twice, and talked about sex. That's basically it.
I read the post by the girl involved, hoping there'd be something there that would bring him down, but it's really not much.
The girl was younger and he was good-looking and popular, so she felt intimidated, and wasn't as assertive as she now feels she should have been, so it's left her with a lingering bad feeling.
A decade ago, if anybody'd tried to label this as a sexual assault they'd be laughed at. Now, it's apparently rape.
