Steve Bing commits suicide; leaps to death from Century City skyscraper

I think he fathered one of Liz Hurley’s children or something.

by Anonymousreply 7June 23, 2020 12:40 AM

That is a mighty old looking 54 year old.

by Anonymousreply 8June 23, 2020 12:40 AM

by Anonymousreply 10June 23, 2020 12:41 AM

Did he jump off that building or was he pushed by a Mohommedan?

by Anonymousreply 11June 23, 2020 12:41 AM

Yes he is the father of Liz's lookalike son. He had very little to no relationship with him however. Still I'm sure they are shocked.

There was recent issue with the family inheritance. Bing's father is very wealthy, and there was issue re having his two children (he has another barely acknowledged daughter by another woman, who lived with Kirk Kerkorian if my memory serves) inherit their portion. I wonder how his death will impact this.

Sorry I was mistaken about padma, she was with Adam dell. iIRC Steve bing never admitted to fathering elizabeth Hurley’s son. It was big gossip in the early 00s.

by Anonymousreply 16June 23, 2020 12:46 AM

“Richard Cory went home last night, and put a bullet through his head.”

by Anonymousreply 17June 23, 2020 12:47 AM

r18 he first fathered a daughter, Kira, with tennis pro Lisa Bonder. At that time, she lived longterm with billionaire Kirk Kerkorian, and told him he was the dad. Ooops - no. Bing eventually admitted paternity. He always admitted paternity of Hurley's on iirc, just never saw him or was involved with him - although as I posted above, he fought his parents and sister to have both his kids included in the huge family trust, oddly.

by Anonymousreply 18June 23, 2020 12:48 AM

Bada Bing!

by Anonymousreply 19June 23, 2020 12:50 AM

Padma Lakshmi got pregnant by another family scion - Adam Dell - but tried to pass her daughter off as her much older then bf, Teddy Forstmann. Dell fought a bitter battle in court to get a paternity test, and gain access to the girl, eventually succeeding. People are confusing this situation with the somewhat similar Bing-Kerkorian situation from years earlier.

by Anonymousreply 20June 23, 2020 12:50 AM

R12, you are correct about both Liz's son and the Kerkorian connection. I follow both Liz and her (very pretty--looks nothing like his father) son Damian on IG; I'll be interested to see if they say a peep about it. He was a horrible person, from all accounts.

by Anonymousreply 21June 23, 2020 12:51 AM

Leaping from a building is so impolite.

I'm not making light of depression and despair. Those are real and good manners aren't the first thing on your mind.

But what if your falling body hurts or kills someone? Why ruin another person's day? Even if your body doesn't hit someone but somebody is sitting nearby, minding their own beeswax and having a cup of coffee, you've intruded in a grotesque manner.

No. He denied it. She had to take him to court. When she announced she was pregnant with his child, he announced "Ms Hurley and I were not in an exclusive relationship when she became pregnant. It is her choice to be a single mother,"

He was trash

by Anonymousreply 29June 23, 2020 12:58 AM

I remember the whole fiasco with Elizabeth Hurley. I think he wanted to deny parentage but the DNA results proved he was indeed Damian Hurleys father. I imagine suicides will continue to rise with everything going on.

"Bing's father is very wealthy"

His dad was a doctor. It was his grandad who was filthy rich:

"His parents are Helen, a nurse, and Peter Bing, a doctor in public health. At the age of 18, Bing inherited an estimated $600 million from his grandfather, Leo S. Bing, a real estate developer who had made his fortune in New York in the 1920s"

Such a selfish way to commit suicide. Bystanders below, clean-up crew, etc. A depressed teen jumped off the 24-story building I worked in. The people who saw it happen never got over it.

by Anonymousreply 43June 23, 2020 1:24 AM

If he did jump from the same building as Candy Spelling's "Manor in the Sky," she'll kill him. Oh, wait, too late. But she's apparently getting ready to sell so she can move to another building. She'll probably try to sue this building again for facilitating the jump!

by Anonymousreply 44June 23, 2020 1:27 AM

This made me gasp aloud, I don’t know why.

by Anonymousreply 45June 23, 2020 1:28 AM

R35 Is Bing effect the new Mandela effect?

by Anonymousreply 47June 23, 2020 1:29 AM

R43 Meh. I always hear how selfish suicides like this are but I imagine whatever that teen was going through was a thousand times worse than the bystanders bad memory of a strangers death.

by Anonymousreply 48June 23, 2020 1:32 AM

r48 Guess you're a tough one. From what I heard, blood and guts splattered all over people.

by Anonymousreply 49June 23, 2020 1:34 AM

Hope you're selected to hose down the blood and scrape the guts off the pavement next time someone jumps off a building, r48.

About 12 years ago, I saw a cat fall 7 stories to its death and I still haven't recovered. It is horrible.

by Anonymousreply 51June 23, 2020 1:40 AM

Did Bing have a history of depression? He couldn't have killed himself because of money.

by Anonymousreply 52June 23, 2020 1:41 AM

Bodies often explode on impact. The people who were nearby when he landed will be scarred for life. Let's not pretend otherwise.

by Anonymousreply 53June 23, 2020 1:43 AM

I remember a 9/11 witness describing the impact of the tragic jumpers as sounding and looking like the bodies of cows landing on the sidewalk.

R51: oh, how awful. I’m so sorry.

by Anonymousreply 57June 23, 2020 1:55 AM

So, why'd he do it? Has anyone theorized?

by Anonymousreply 58June 23, 2020 1:56 AM

R43 I always think about this when people hang themselves or blow their brains out at home knowing a family member will be the ones who find their bodies hanging there with their face all purple and their eyes bulging out or their brains splattered all over the walls. That’s something that can never be unseen, ever. Such a shitty thing to do.

by Anonymousreply 59June 23, 2020 1:59 AM

He looked like a well-preserved 70 year old man

by Anonymousreply 60June 23, 2020 1:59 AM

I remember when Bing was denying paternity but when the kid was young, he looked just like him, it was obvious that Bing was the father. Now that the kid is older, he somehow looks like his mother's twin.

by Anonymousreply 70June 23, 2020 2:30 AM

Depression can be genetic right?

by Anonymousreply 71June 23, 2020 2:30 AM

Della R22 I agree. I witnessed, along with dozens of others, a suicide in NYC, 3 years ago. We all watched in horror as she paused momentarily on the top floor of a Midtown hotel before hurling to her death on a fire plug below. You can never forget the sound her landing made. A group of Korean tourists, women, shrieked in terror and some fainted by the horror. We all felt helpless and horrible that we couldn’t stop her fall and death.

Most were stunned and frozen and didn’t even approach the body until a hotel worker spread a sheet over her. I’m sure others who witnessed this were as traumatized as I was. The New York Post reported that she was a Japanese national despondent over a romance gone bad. Sorry, very OT.

by Anonymousreply 72June 23, 2020 2:31 AM

by Anonymousreply 73June 23, 2020 2:33 AM

Yikes how horrible. Wonder what made him do this.

Guess that old adage is true: money doesn’t buy happiness

by Anonymousreply 74June 23, 2020 2:34 AM

That building has a reasonable amount of land around it. It's not as if he would have landed on a public sidewalk. In all likelihood he landed on the huge curved driveway or the grass. Not anywhere people would be walking or gathering.

by Anonymousreply 75June 23, 2020 2:36 AM

r61, he was replaced.

by Anonymousreply 76June 23, 2020 2:37 AM

At the time, Kerkorian was in a legal fight with his ex-wife Lisa Bonder, a former professional tennis player, over the amount of child support he would pay, with the billionaire reportedly suspecting Bing (a previous boyfriend) to be the father of Kira. I know what you mean when you say this type of suicide is selfish because of the feelings it gives rise to in witnesses.

But IF you’re suicidal and IF you don’t fear an accounting in the afterlife and IF you want to be absolutely certain that you do not survive — the method he chose is extremely likely to result in death and, clearly, that’s what mattered to him..

I have read “Suicide and Attempted Suicide” by Geo Stone (ISBN: 0-7867-0492-6). He exhaustively covers every conceivable method of suicide and analyzes each for its effectiveness as a suicidal method and/or as a suicidal gesture. An example is: a shotgun blast to the head is an extremely effective method and a very ineffective gesture.

Stone does not judge gestures and reports that many survivors of suicidal gestures report a high degree of satisfaction after their “attempt,” largely because they become the focus of a lot of attention and are taken more seriously when they complain.

Bing clearly did not want to survive and was unconcerned about the feelings of possible witnesses.

When I say the book is detailed, I mean it. Stone reports percentages of people who land face up or otherwise, compares the lethality of suicidally intended jumps versus accidental falls, breaks the jumpers down by race and sex. Nothing escapes him!

And every time I read it, I decide not to do it.

I know I will get flamed for this but committing suicide is a selfish act. Yeah, I know, "depression, you don't understand, me, me, me, me."

How you affect other peoples lives, especially with ones you don't know or have a grudge against is the last thought on your mind. Someone has to clean up your mess, someone might be traumatized by being in the wrong place and forced to see you splatter their guts all over the cement. But oh, lets talk about you and your mental pain again.

Wasn't it Bing's Grandfather who sued Kerkorian to accept paternity of the child with Lisa/Lisa Bonser, a pro tennis player? I think this is true - since I read it in the DM. There's 3 mister's Bing, Steve, his father a Dr, and Grandfather, the guy with the big bucks. I presume the Grandfather is dead or Steve wouldn't have had the inheritance. Make up a report and feel to add whomever you please.

As opposed to your boy Trump, whose "friends" and relatives WISH they could commit suicide

We didn't talk about the suicide, but I can't imagine coming home to a scene like that.

R103, Doubtful it was the PH; he jumped from the 27th floor and the building is at least 40 floors.

As R83 said, I figured it was 10000 SM Blvd, although the 'Candy Spelling building' isn't too far from this area.

R53, that is terrible to think of. And Bing was six foot four at least, not a small guy (not saying someone small would make less of a mess, it's all horrible but you get my point)...

Blackmail Island.

by Anonymousreply 155June 23, 2020 7:55 AM

I took about ten minutes to scroll through the replies to this post. I clicked on the Daily Mail link but it's a video and those are totally useless because they're sensationalist shite for the functionally illiterate. The whole time I was looking for two words: SUICIDE NOTE. I went to the DM website where the caption of one of the many pics (of all the rich and famous people Bing knew. What the fuck does it signify now with whom he was acquainted?) said simply, "He is believed to have jumped to his death."

The point I'm making is that it's easy to confuse real life with network programming fiction, where everything is figured out, done, dusted and cleanly put away in 48 minutes. It's too early to tell what this is. But whatever entity expects me to believe somebody choose to fall 20 odd stories rather than face quarantining in sybaritic luxury in their LA flat is gonna have to try a little harder.

There has to be some sort of inquisition, and investigation. Since the lurching changes we made when the pandemic became something that was no longer a joke, I've had to change the way I digest disturbing and horrific information. Maybe I'd term it using cuticle (thank you, Jennifer Saunders) thinking as a means of coping.

And as too many of us know, suicidal ideation occupies the minds of those you'd never suspect of harbouring those thoughts. That said, I think Steve Bing was far too busy being rich to take himself out.

by Anonymousreply 156June 23, 2020 8:37 AM

I'll bet there'll be no investigation, r156.

Why?

[quote]He has a widow's peak, which is unusual for a male.

That doesn't appear to be true. There were two casual studies done and neither identified what they considered to be a widow's peak, making the studies basically useless. There are also no real studies about the genetics behind a widow's peak.

I always wonder why rich people jump off buildings or in front of trains, hang themselves or use other violent ways to end their lives. I mean he could certainly afford a trip to Mexico to buy some Nembutal or pay a doctor somewhere a shitload of money to end his life peacefully. They must be really desperate in that moment or psychotic to choose something like this. If I had time to plan, I would definitely choose a different way to end my life.

by Anonymousreply 185June 23, 2020 11:37 AM

The Wikipedia entry stated that he “fell” to his death. People who commit suicide are generally clinically depressed. If they were in their right mind, they would never do it. My sisters girlfriend was a devoted mother with two adult daughters. Her husband left her and she was in an untreated depression for about a year. Then she hung her self and knew her children would find her. She would never have knowingly done that to her children. People don’t take depression seriously enough.

R 84; please get help.

by Anonymousreply 187June 23, 2020 11:54 AM

Umm, r186? You ought to look up the history of suicide.

Very often it is a reasonable reaction . Not at all a result of "not in right mind".

The idea that suicide is a result of someone not "being in their right mind" was entirely invented by the Catholic Church.

In ancient Rome it was the only "Honourable Death".

by Anonymousreply 188June 23, 2020 12:11 PM

They will investigate this, thoroughly go through his residence and talk to all of his family, colleagues and acquaintances. It's a bit telling that he and Hurley were on speaking terms again, after so many years of rancor - makes me wonder if he was suffering from some kind of physical or mental issues that would cause him to soften up and reach out to her and his son.

The building where he died is new and right in front of/adjacent to Beverly Hills High, the backside abuts the school entrance. That entire area looks very built up from last I was there, in the early 00s.

If life was so hard for himself he could have spent the rest of his days drinking and drugging and screwing whores; he could've lived his days out at Disney World or on a remote island or atop a Manhattan penthouse or any number of harmless ways. Hell, he could've hired a hitman to kill him in private and enact a way to notify his family without anyone stumbling upon his body unprepared.

His legacy is being a deadbeat inseminator who idolized someone who was, at best, a nasty womanizer and adulterer. He can rot in hell. What a shitty waste of life.

Bipolar disorder is a bitch to deal with. The past months of isolation didn't help, and if he had fallen out with his family that would exacerbate as well.

Anyone know why his grandfather left him all that money at age 18? Did he leave anything to his son, Bing's father, or just skip down to Steve. And what about Steve's sister, did Grandpa leave her a fortune as well when she came of age.

Sounds to me like he was a bit too spoiled, too much too soon.

by Anonymousreply 241June 24, 2020 4:27 AM

People who commit suicide are not in their right mind or rational. They only care about dying to relieve their pain. People calling him selfish are looking at it from a rational viewpoint.

by Anonymousreply 252June 24, 2020 8:25 AM

R252 One has to assume that no one ever explained the virtues of index funds to him. If he had just plopped $100 mil of that initial inheritance into a Vanguard market index mutual fund back in the 80s, he’d be set for life, even after blowing through the other $500 million.

by Anonymousreply 253June 24, 2020 9:09 AM

Who knows why anyone chooses their method of suicide? Not everyone takes the easy way out.

If he’d been on anti-depressants, he could have suffered the paradoxical side effect of suicidal impulses.

I think it’s interesting that he was back in contact with Liz and then he dies.

And finally, a person absolutely CAN lose $600 million. I’d like to try it sometime.

by Anonymousreply 254June 24, 2020 9:39 AM

Getting rid of possessions - such as selling your home and jet - are typical of some types of suicides, so he may not have been in financial trouble but rather planning his suicide. Jumping from that height does seem like a sure way to die. Which he did.

Her twelve dozen daily Amazon deliveries were late because the cops cordoned off the street. She was really pissed about that. Also, her assistant couldn't get out of the garage to go get Candy's lunch at Fatburger. It's been a nightmare for her.

by Anonymousreply 266June 24, 2020 5:22 PM

R262, I wonder that, too.

[quote]Child support just ended and no inheritance?

Both of his kids were ruled eligible to receive their share of their grandfather Peter Bing's trust, set up years ago for his grandchildren. That was recently stated to be worth around $380 million, so an annual income stream is likely worth several 100 thousand a year per grandchild, I would presume. Both kids will also inherit whatever was left of Bing's own $600 million fortune, which might still be substantial. They're set for life.

His daughter Kira also received $8 million+ from her at-birth father, billionaire Kirk Kerkorian, in the divorce from her mother Lisa Bonder. So she is already well set. Damien one presumes will also eventually receive his mothers estate, minus whatever is left after all the expensive bikinis and swimsuit Insta shoots.

by Anonymousreply 271June 24, 2020 8:57 PM

Why on earth would you leave $600 million to an 18 yr old even if it is your grandson?

Bing was used by everyone for his money, from Bill Clinton to Liz Hurley and beyond. What's sad is it took him 55 years to recognize this.

by Anonymousreply 272June 24, 2020 9:04 PM

R272 I think you meant to say 37 years, but I get it.

by Anonymousreply 285June 26, 2020 11:51 AM

Candy recommends, in even the most limited space, to have white, silver and gold wrapping paper on hand. It’s fine to just use a simple bow, like how you would tie your shoe, as long as you add a flourish to the package.

Liz Hurley worked with Dame Joan Collins on that wretched E! series 'The Royals'. It may take awhile, but they'll want to be right there once Daddy Bing's estate is settled.

R288, and Liz will help pack up all the purses Candy has for sale on eBay. She'll gift her one as a sympathy gift, and try to talk her into buying the mausoleum plots she has for sale.

by Anonymousreply 289June 26, 2020 2:50 PM

My mind is blown that Candy sells shit on eBay. Why on Earth? She has plenty of money.

by Anonymousreply 290June 26, 2020 3:00 PM

R290, she buys a lot as well (not surprising).

by Anonymousreply 291June 26, 2020 3:06 PM

Candy has 417 storage areas all over LA that are packed full of tchotkes and other useless shit. She fills one up and then buys another one.

by Anonymousreply 292June 26, 2020 3:15 PM

Why is Candy Spelling wrapping gifts? Doesn't she have a servant girl or two she could put to such menial tasks? Or better yet, why is she giving such cheap gifts that don't come from a store that offers a gift wrapping service?

by Anonymousreply 293June 26, 2020 5:48 PM

r293 Candy loves doing her own gift wrapping because she likes to give a personal touch to the people she's giving presents to. Candy will ask you what your favorite color is, and then she'll wrap the gift in that color of paper. Also, ribbons and bows.

by Anonymousreply 294June 26, 2020 6:26 PM

For the people questioning why he would jump, he probably was in intense mental pain and wanted something sure to work. Suicide by hanging or jumping usually indicates that they truly want out, rather than a "cry for help " sort of thing. I know people think he was awful for the Hurley fiasco but if they were in a casual relationship then it makes sense to request a paternity test before signing the birth certificate.

by Anonymousreply 295June 26, 2020 7:12 PM

Money really isn't a cure for depression I guess. Very said.

by Anonymousreply 296June 26, 2020 8:15 PM

R295. No, many of us felt for Bing. Hurley is a lying witch. Hurley said she was on birth control pills but took antibiotics, so the birth controls didn't work - what a coincidence while she was fucking a billionaire! She was full of shit. She wanted to get pregnant with the billionaire and so she did.

And she lied about not getting any financial help from Bing. He set up a trust for the antibiotic/birth control ooops.

It's shitty for gold diggers to lie to the men they are sleeping with about being on birth control.

by Anonymousreply 297June 26, 2020 10:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 298June 27, 2020 12:12 AM

by Anonymousreply 302June 27, 2020 12:49 AM

R305 Quit trying to push Candy to sell those mausoleum plots, every one knows when she downsized the Manor she need every inch of storage space for all her “collectibles” junk. Those spaces are filled to the brim with Madam Alexander dolls and Beanie Babies, and she’s not emptying them out anytime soon.

by Anonymousreply 307June 27, 2020 9:46 AM

R307, I think the plots actually contain the remains of Tori's career on one, and Tori's sense of dignity in the other. Candy is even evicting her from the mausoleum!

by Anonymousreply 308June 27, 2020 9:55 AM

R308 Well she can’t have all those fat grandchildren cluttering up the space now can she.

by Anonymousreply 309June 27, 2020 9:58 AM

R309, those kids will be sold on eBay soon enough. Tori's AmEx lawsuit isn't going to pay for itself.

by Anonymousreply 310June 27, 2020 10:08 AM

r297 well, I hope she gets something out of it, because it's hard to go back to being a high end escort when you burned your bridges as a gold-digging who-ah, as Bill Burr would say.

Of course, at her age, those days are behind her now anyway, so maybe she could go back to the yacht men.

by Anonymousreply 311June 27, 2020 10:22 AM

r299 filthy rich billionaires hire very high end escorts they don't expect will be so unprofessional as to turn into gold-diggers.

If I had 1/100 of that money, I wouldn't trust anyone around me, let alone anything around a relationship/hookup. If I was straight, I would've been snipped long ago.

by Anonymousreply 320June 27, 2020 5:17 PM

R320, it was speculated right after Bing jumped that he jumped from Candy's building, where she owns the penthouse. That turned out to be untrue, but being DL, we ran with it. Or jumped to conclusions, I should say. It's all silly fun.

He said it's hard to say, as it's based on how much Aaron actually owned of the brand. Yes, he produced them, but how much of it did he actually own once you split it with ABC and the creators. by Anonymousreply 351June 28, 2020 7:48 AM

R332, I hesitated to reads Stone's take, but I'm glad I did. She said, “This is really hard. I had a really hard time with it… He’s a complicated person who I didn’t think always made good decisions… It’s a tough one. It’s a very tough one."

Sharon Stone has been chased by many crazy, rich men. Steve Wynn specifically, when she was a guest of his at the Mirage in Las Vegas whilst filming 'Casino'. He chased her back to her villa one night (after bombarding her with flowers), and Stone had to ask Scorcese and company to relocate her to another hotel for the rest of the filming. So for her to say Bing made poor decisions...well, that's what she said.

by Anonymousreply 352June 28, 2020 9:27 AM

Sharon Stone lies about being in Mensa, which I really like.

by Anonymousreply 353June 28, 2020 2:19 PM

R357, I'd just been thinking about this clip (I know, I have to get a life). I forgot the part about Tatum O'Neal being Candy's bitchy pawn. That's a whole 'nother level of WTF.

Tori is smart to be wearing those wings, in case Candygram "accidentally" bumped into her and pushed her off the balcony of the Manor in the Sky.

by Anonymousreply 359June 28, 2020 8:32 PM

R357 I'd almost feel bad for Dean if he wasn't such a parasite.

by Anonymousreply 360June 28, 2020 8:41 PM

R359 So much to unpack right? Who is MaryJo? And is Tatum auditioning for the role of Candy’s daughter? Do they go out in public and Tatum pretends to be Tori? And who knew Tori was such good friends with Anna Kendrick?

by Anonymousreply 361June 28, 2020 8:42 PM

Candy Spelling Ruins Everything might be a good title for her thread?

by Anonymousreply 362June 28, 2020 8:43 PM

R355 That post is labeled “Great views and great art,” neither of those statements are correct.

by Anonymousreply 363June 28, 2020 8:49 PM

R362, yes! I'm honestly afraid Candy would ruin her own thread, though. It's almost like it's more fun to talk about her on a Steve Bing suicide thread than if she had her own. I could be wrong...I've read both of Candy's books and could regurgitate ridiculous anecdotes from both.

R359, Mary Jo is Dean's ex. She and Tori were on the outs for years, which tends to happen when someone steals your husband whilst filming a Lifetime movie. I didn't even notice Anna Kendrick was there. Candy bringing Tatum is still perplexing...I don't know what the connection would be except Aaron Spelling having produced 'Charlie's Angels' with Farrah, but that was before Ryan O'Neal and Farrah got together and left Tatum to be raised by wolves. Notice Tatum telling Dean in the clip that it would be "good for the show" if Tori came over and talked to Candy. Tatum didn't win an Oscar for nothing!

by Anonymousreply 364June 28, 2020 8:50 PM

That wasn't Anna Kendrick

by Anonymousreply 365June 28, 2020 8:59 PM

"Maybe YOU don't want to be my daughter, but Tatum does!" God, she's so childish.

by Anonymousreply 366June 29, 2020 1:39 AM

Why does momma Candy dislike her spawn so much?

by Anonymousreply 367June 29, 2020 2:48 AM

I don't think she dislikes Tori, she dislikes Tori's husband. She probably wanted Tori to marry a rich man like she did and have that man take care of her. Dean has always been a broke-ass moocher. I can't say I blame Candy for feeling that way.

by Anonymousreply 368June 29, 2020 2:52 AM

R123- you don’t know what you’re talking about. Would you say someone who dies of AIDS is selfish? Or someone who dies of Altzheimers? It’s exactly like that. I’m bipolar. It’s a deadly fucking illness. Before we found the right combination of meds for me, I had episodes where my mind felt programmed to kill myself. I don’t know how I survived but I did. Luckily for you, you are not dealing with a mental illness or you would understand.

by Anonymousreply 378June 30, 2020 10:37 AM

R378, I looked on the LA Times and don't see an official obit for him yet.

by Anonymousreply 379June 30, 2020 1:11 PM

"He never met his son, Damian Hurley, now an 18-year-old model and actor, and only met daughter Kira Kerkorian, now 21, when she was an adult. But having initially fought public battles because he doubted his paternity of these children, he more recently went to court to ensure they would inherit a share of the Bing family fortune."

In 2019, Bing’s father sought to revise a four-decade-old trust to eliminate Bing’s two children as heirs to the family fortune, arguing they’d been born out of wedlock and his son had never developed meaningful relationships with them. “To the best of my knowledge, Stephen has never met Damian, and Stephen only met Kira after she became an adult,” Peter said in an affidavit. He also said having never met either child, “I do not consider them my grandchildren.” (Peter Bing, who has not commented publicly on his son's death, could not be reached for comment.)

In court papers, Bing’s attorneys described it as unjust for Damian and Kira to be “denied their rightful share” because of “the life choices their parents made, and Steve Bing will not stand idly by as his family exploits those circumstances and tries to redirect funds from Steve Bing’s children to [his sister] Mary Bing’s children.” (In 2002, Mary Bing told Vanity Fair that her brother had been “reproductively taken advantage of.”)

Bing said in court papers that he found it “callous” and “especially alarming” that Peter had said in an affidavit that he wouldn’t consider Damian Hurley to be his grandchild even if Bing were to develop a relationship with Damian. But at the time of his death, that had yet to happen. A knowledgeable source says the two had never met, but Bing texted with Damian on his 18th birthday in April.

I can't say I disagree with Grandpa Bing. You never met the kids despite knowing exactly where they were, were never a father aside from where you busted your load, why would you be considered "family" and entitled to property?

[quote]Candy has just posted a pic of her balcony. I actually didn't know it was this spacious.

Why not? Were you absent from school the day they taught the spaciousness of Candy Spelling's balcony???

How embarrassing. I'm embarrassed for you.

R380

Why should Bing's father have any right to tell his son what to do with HIS money. Bing should be able to leave his money to his kids, PETA, the DNC or whomever.

by Anonymousreply 382July 1, 2020 8:12 PM

R382 I believe the lawsuit was about the family trust, not Bing's personal assets.

And personally I think it's really weird that he would go to such lengths to see them recognized financially but not...fucking meet them.

by Anonymousreply 383July 1, 2020 8:17 PM

If Bing was so against having children, he should've gotten a vasectomy. I don't know why more straight guy who don't want kids don't do this, esp. the rich and famous ones.

BTW, you can really tell who the closeted gay celebrity guys are because they never have paternity scandals. Straight celebrity guys who fuck around and don't settle down almost always get snagged into a paternity scandal.

by Anonymousreply 384July 1, 2020 10:18 PM

Agreed, r384.

I would only add that if I had two children with the same woman and we split up. I'd race my ass to my physician to get a vasectomy, too.

No half-siblings.

by Anonymousreply 385July 1, 2020 10:45 PM

My cousin got a vasectomy after his first marriage fell apart. Good thing too because his second marriage was an even bigger mess.

R352 Steve Wynn also had an affair with Sarah, Duchess of York, when she was still married to Andrew.

by Anonymousreply 387July 1, 2020 11:08 PM

He never met his kid? Wow, what an asshole

by Anonymousreply 388July 1, 2020 11:18 PM

George Clooney never had a paternity scandal, did he? Or Brad Pitt.

by Anonymousreply 389July 1, 2020 11:37 PM

r389, neither did I! He should have just made his model girlfriends give him handjobs while saving the real lovin' for Tobey Maguire, just like I did

by Anonymousreply 390July 2, 2020 12:13 AM

R389

I'm sure they were diligent about using a condom until they decided to have kids. Bing on the other hand never had any desire to have kids so he definitely should've had a vasectomy.

by Anonymousreply 391July 2, 2020 3:41 AM

Is there a woman who was in his life who is being blamed for it all? That seems to happen, the scapegoating, any time a famous man kills himself....

by Anonymousreply 392July 2, 2020 3:42 AM

The fact that he didn’t want kids and didn’t have any relationship with them, but went to court to ensure they got a share of the family fortune, reads more like an issue he had with his father and sister. Maybe she was the daddy’s favorite for providing him with actual grandchildren, and he was bitter about that.

I feel the words building inside me, I can't stop them, or tell you why I say them, but as I reach the top of the bridge these words come to me in a whisper. I say these words as a prayer, as regret, as praise, I say: Ghislaine, Ghislaine

Will Steve have been the start of a trend?

by Anonymousreply 395July 2, 2020 7:07 PM

Actually, and this is sort of interesting it was around this time of year 2 years ago that Bourdain and Spade hung themselves.

by Anonymousreply 396July 2, 2020 11:07 PM

^^^ Spade?

by Anonymousreply 397July 2, 2020 11:59 PM

He jumped on monday at 1:00PM right after father's day. He probably felt deep remorse about his children. In instagram i've read people who were close to him saying Elizabeth did keep Damian away from Bing... he wanted work out a custody agreement with her away from a court mess... sad story... he should have fought for his children years ago.

by Anonymousreply 399July 3, 2020 10:27 PM

"In 2002, Mary Bing told Vanity Fair that her brother had been “reproductively taken advantage of.”

Looks like since this time Mary was worried about the inheritance of HER children. She sounds very cold, manipulative and cunning... Steve Bing was obviously a spoiled and weak man-child.

by Anonymousreply 400July 3, 2020 10:39 PM

They may not have been raised right...

by Anonymousreply 401July 4, 2020 11:48 AM

Steve Bing was also one of the driving forces to coerce Graydon Carter of Vanity Fair not to publish a piece on Jeffrey Epstein (and Ghislaine Maxwell) written by John Connolly for Vanity Fair.

Maxwell was in contact with Bing before he died.

How tall is that building?

I think I’d pick something taller... just to be sure.

Candy gift wrapped the coffin and put a bow on it.

by Anonymousreply 404July 7, 2020 6:17 AM

Looks like Stevie had quit the bing-ing funeral. (YouTube says it's his, anyway.)

by Anonymousreply 406July 7, 2020 6:47 AM

R399. He killed himself close to the anniversary of his girlfriend's death of overdose. More likely guilt at his role in this - paying for drugs for her, using with her, not getting her into treatment. It's frau-thinking to make it about the kids he never wanted.

by Anonymousreply 407July 7, 2020 7:40 AM

[R392] in this case we now know it was his ex-gf --- and the article says they were planning on having kids together. AS IF.

by Anonymousreply 408July 7, 2020 12:39 PM

Pfft to anyone who thinks Liz Hurley must be upset because there had recently been a rapprochement between herself and Bing.

Translation: Liz Hurley told the press there had been a recent rapprochement, foreseeing front-page stories in every women's magazine in the Western world about her grief and her now-dashed [sorry] hope that they might have reconciled and rekindled their Twu Wuv.

Gimmeabreak.
