Yes he is the father of Liz's lookalike son. He had very little to no relationship with him however. Still I'm sure they are shocked.
There was recent issue with the family inheritance. Bing's father is very wealthy, and there was issue re having his two children (he has another barely acknowledged daughter by another woman, who lived with Kirk Kerkorian if my memory serves) inherit their portion. I wonder how his death will impact this.

r18 he first fathered a daughter, Kira, with tennis pro Lisa Bonder. At that time, she lived longterm with billionaire Kirk Kerkorian, and told him he was the dad. Ooops - no. Bing eventually admitted paternity. He always admitted paternity of Hurley's on iirc, just never saw him or was involved with him - although as I posted above, he fought his parents and sister to have both his kids included in the huge family trust, oddly.

Padma Lakshmi got pregnant by another family scion - Adam Dell - but tried to pass her daughter off as her much older then bf, Teddy Forstmann. Dell fought a bitter battle in court to get a paternity test, and gain access to the girl, eventually succeeding. People are confusing this situation with the somewhat similar Bing-Kerkorian situation from years earlier.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 23, 2020 12:50 AM |
R12, you are correct about both Liz's son and the Kerkorian connection. I follow both Liz and her (very pretty--looks nothing like his father) son Damian on IG; I'll be interested to see if they say a peep about it. He was a horrible person, from all accounts.

Leaping from a building is so impolite.
I'm not making light of depression and despair. Those are real and good manners aren't the first thing on your mind.
But what if your falling body hurts or kills someone? Why ruin another person's day? Even if your body doesn't hit someone but somebody is sitting nearby, minding their own beeswax and having a cup of coffee, you've intruded in a grotesque manner.

Della R22 I agree. I witnessed, along with dozens of others, a suicide in NYC, 3 years ago. We all watched in horror as she paused momentarily on the top floor of a Midtown hotel before hurling to her death on a fire plug below. You can never forget the sound her landing made. A group of Korean tourists, women, shrieked in terror and some fainted by the horror. We all felt helpless and horrible that we couldn’t stop her fall and death.
Most were stunned and frozen and didn’t even approach the body until a hotel worker spread a sheet over her. I’m sure others who witnessed this were as traumatized as I was. The New York Post reported that she was a Japanese national despondent over a romance gone bad. Sorry, very OT.

I know what you mean when you say this type of suicide is selfish because of the feelings it gives rise to in witnesses.
But IF you’re suicidal and IF you don’t fear an accounting in the afterlife and IF you want to be absolutely certain that you do not survive — the method he chose is extremely likely to result in death and, clearly, that’s what mattered to him..
I have read “Suicide and Attempted Suicide” by Geo Stone (ISBN: 0-7867-0492-6). He exhaustively covers every conceivable method of suicide and analyzes each for its effectiveness as a suicidal method and/or as a suicidal gesture. An example is: a shotgun blast to the head is an extremely effective method and a very ineffective gesture.
Stone does not judge gestures and reports that many survivors of suicidal gestures report a high degree of satisfaction after their “attempt,” largely because they become the focus of a lot of attention and are taken more seriously when they complain.
Bing clearly did not want to survive and was unconcerned about the feelings of possible witnesses.
When I say the book is detailed, I mean it. Stone reports percentages of people who land face up or otherwise, compares the lethality of suicidally intended jumps versus accidental falls, breaks the jumpers down by race and sex. Nothing escapes him!
And every time I read it, I decide not to do it.

R103, Doubtful it was the PH; he jumped from the 27th floor and the building is at least 40 floors.
As R83 said, I figured it was 10000 SM Blvd, although the 'Candy Spelling building' isn't too far from this area.
R53, that is terrible to think of. And Bing was six foot four at least, not a small guy (not saying someone small would make less of a mess, it's all horrible but you get my point)...

I took about ten minutes to scroll through the replies to this post. I clicked on the Daily Mail link but it's a video and those are totally useless because they're sensationalist shite for the functionally illiterate. The whole time I was looking for two words: SUICIDE NOTE. I went to the DM website where the caption of one of the many pics (of all the rich and famous people Bing knew. What the fuck does it signify now with whom he was acquainted?) said simply, "He is believed to have jumped to his death."
The point I'm making is that it's easy to confuse real life with network programming fiction, where everything is figured out, done, dusted and cleanly put away in 48 minutes. It's too early to tell what this is. But whatever entity expects me to believe somebody choose to fall 20 odd stories rather than face quarantining in sybaritic luxury in their LA flat is gonna have to try a little harder.
There has to be some sort of inquisition, and investigation. Since the lurching changes we made when the pandemic became something that was no longer a joke, I've had to change the way I digest disturbing and horrific information. Maybe I'd term it using cuticle (thank you, Jennifer Saunders) thinking as a means of coping.
And as too many of us know, suicidal ideation occupies the minds of those you'd never suspect of harbouring those thoughts. That said, I think Steve Bing was far too busy being rich to take himself out.

The Wikipedia entry stated that he “fell” to his death. People who commit suicide are generally clinically depressed. If they were in their right mind, they would never do it. My sisters girlfriend was a devoted mother with two adult daughters. Her husband left her and she was in an untreated depression for about a year. Then she hung her self and knew her children would find her. She would never have knowingly done that to her children. People don’t take depression seriously enough.

The idea that suicide is a result of someone not "being in their right mind" was entirely invented by the Catholic Church.

It's a bit telling that he and Hurley were on speaking terms again, after so many years of rancor - makes me wonder if he was suffering from some kind of physical or mental issues that would cause him to soften up and reach out to her and his son.
The building where he died is new and right in front of/adjacent to Beverly Hills High, the backside abuts the school entrance. That entire area looks very built up from last I was there, in the early 00s.

Hell, he could've hired a hitman to kill him in private and enact a way to notify his family without anyone stumbling upon his body unprepared.
His legacy is being a deadbeat inseminator who idolized someone who was, at best, a nasty womanizer and adulterer. He can rot in hell. What a shitty waste of life.

Anyone know why his grandfather left him all that money at age 18? Did he leave anything to his son, Bing's father, or just skip down to Steve. And what about Steve's sister, did Grandpa leave her a fortune as well when she came of age.

Her twelve dozen daily Amazon deliveries were late because the cops cordoned off the street. She was really pissed about that. Also, her assistant couldn't get out of the garage to go get Candy's lunch at Fatburger. It's been a nightmare for her.

Both of his kids were ruled eligible to receive their share of their grandfather Peter Bing's trust, set up years ago for his grandchildren. That was recently stated to be worth around $380 million, so an annual income stream is likely worth several 100 thousand a year per grandchild, I would presume. Both kids will also inherit whatever was left of Bing's own $600 million fortune, which might still be substantial. They're set for life.
His daughter Kira also received $8 million+ from her at-birth father, billionaire Kirk Kerkorian, in the divorce from her mother Lisa Bonder. So she is already well set. Damien one presumes will also eventually receive his mothers estate, minus whatever is left after all the expensive bikinis and swimsuit Insta shoots.

by Anonymous | reply 285 | June 26, 2020 11:51 AM |
Candy recommends, in even the most limited space, to have white, silver and gold wrapping paper on hand. It’s fine to just use a simple bow, like how you would tie your shoe, as long as you add a flourish to the package.

Liz Hurley worked with Dame Joan Collins on that wretched E! series 'The Royals'. I'm sure Dame Joan will get in touch with Candy to ask if Liz and Damian can crash at the Manor in the Sky until all this gets sorted. It may take awhile, but they'll want to be right there once Daddy Bing's estate is settled.
by Anonymous | reply 287 | June 26, 2020 1:41 PM |

Why is Candy Spelling wrapping gifts? Doesn't she have a servant girl or two she could put to such menial tasks? Or better yet, why is she giving such cheap gifts that don't come from a store that offers a gift wrapping service?
by Anonymous | reply 293 | June 26, 2020 5:48 PM |
r293 Candy loves doing her own gift wrapping because she likes to give a personal touch to the people she's giving presents to. Candy will ask you what your favorite color is, and then she'll wrap the gift in that color of paper. Also, ribbons and bows.
by Anonymous | reply 294 | June 26, 2020 6:26 PM |
For the people questioning why he would jump, he probably was in intense mental pain and wanted something sure to work. Suicide by hanging or jumping usually indicates that they truly want out, rather than a "cry for help " sort of thing. I know people think he was awful for the Hurley fiasco but if they were in a casual relationship then it makes sense to request a paternity test before signing the birth certificate.

She wanted to get pregnant with the billionaire and so she did.
And she lied about not getting any financial help from Bing. He set up a trust for the antibiotic/birth control ooops.

In addition to the repetitive 'Charlie's Angels' movies and series pilots that have been greenlit over the years. He said it's hard to say, as it's based on how much Aaron actually owned of the brand. Yes, he produced them, but how much of it did he actually own once you split it with ABC and the creators. Either way, Candy is laughing to the bank each time she gets a residual cheque.

Sharon Stone has been chased by many crazy, rich men. Steve Wynn specifically, when she was a guest of his at the Mirage in Las Vegas whilst filming 'Casino'. He chased her back to her villa one night (after bombarding her with flowers), and Stone had to ask Scorcese and company to relocate her to another hotel for the rest of the filming. So for her to say Bing made poor decisions...well, that's what she said.

Tori is smart to be wearing those wings, in case Candygram "accidentally" bumped into her and pushed her off the balcony of the Manor in the Sky.

Candy Spelling Ruins Everything might be a good title for her thread?
by Anonymous | reply 362 | June 28, 2020 8:43 PM |
R355 That post is labeled “Great views and great art,” neither of those statements are correct.
by Anonymous | reply 363 | June 28, 2020 8:49 PM |
R362, yes! I'm honestly afraid Candy would ruin her own thread, though. It's almost like it's more fun to talk about her on a Steve Bing suicide thread than if she had her own. I could be wrong...I've read both of Candy's books and could regurgitate ridiculous anecdotes from both.
R359, Mary Jo is Dean's ex. She and Tori were on the outs for years, which tends to happen when someone steals your husband whilst filming a Lifetime movie. I didn't even notice Anna Kendrick was there. Candy bringing Tatum is still perplexing...I don't know what the connection would be except Aaron Spelling having produced 'Charlie's Angels' with Farrah, but that was before Ryan O'Neal and Farrah got together and left Tatum to be raised by wolves. Notice Tatum telling Dean in the clip that it would be "good for the show" if Tori came over and talked to Candy. Tatum didn't win an Oscar for nothing!

by Anonymous | reply 367 | June 29, 2020 2:48 AM |
I don't think she dislikes Tori, she dislikes Tori's husband. She probably wanted Tori to marry a rich man like she did and have that man take care of her. Dean has always been a broke-ass moocher. I can't say I blame Candy for feeling that way.
by Anonymous | reply 368 | June 29, 2020 2:52 AM |

"He never met his son, Damian Hurley, now an 18-year-old model and actor, and only met daughter Kira Kerkorian, now 21, when she was an adult. But having initially fought public battles because he doubted his paternity of these children, he more recently went to court to ensure they would inherit a share of the Bing family fortune."
In 2019, Bing’s father sought to revise a four-decade-old trust to eliminate Bing’s two children as heirs to the family fortune, arguing they’d been born out of wedlock and his son had never developed meaningful relationships with them. “To the best of my knowledge, Stephen has never met Damian, and Stephen only met Kira after she became an adult,” Peter said in an affidavit. He also said having never met either child, “I do not consider them my grandchildren.” (Peter Bing, who has not commented publicly on his son's death, could not be reached for comment.)
In court papers, Bing’s attorneys described it as unjust for Damian and Kira to be “denied their rightful share” because of “the life choices their parents made, and Steve Bing will not stand idly by as his family exploits those circumstances and tries to redirect funds from Steve Bing’s children to [his sister] Mary Bing’s children.” (In 2002, Mary Bing told Vanity Fair that her brother had been “reproductively taken advantage of.”)
Bing said in court papers that he found it “callous” and “especially alarming” that Peter had said in an affidavit that he wouldn’t consider Damian Hurley to be his grandchild even if Bing were to develop a relationship with Damian. But at the time of his death, that had yet to happen. A knowledgeable source says the two had never met, but Bing texted with Damian on his 18th birthday in April.

I can't say I disagree with Grandpa Bing. You never met the kids despite knowing exactly where they were, were never a father aside from where you busted your load, why would you be considered "family" and entitled to property?

[quote]Candy has just posted a pic of her balcony. I actually didn't know it was this spacious.
Why not? Were you absent from school the day they taught the spaciousness of Candy Spelling's balcony???
How embarrassing. I'm embarrassed for you.

Why should Bing's father have any right to tell his son what to do with HIS money. Bing should be able to leave his money to his kids, PETA, the DNC or whomever.

R382 I believe the lawsuit was about the family trust, not Bing's personal assets.
And personally I think it's really weird that he would go to such lengths to see them recognized financially but not...fucking meet them.

If Bing was so against having children, he should've gotten a vasectomy. I don't know why more straight guy who don't want kids don't do this, esp. the rich and famous ones.
BTW, you can really tell who the closeted gay celebrity guys are because they never have paternity scandals. Straight celebrity guys who fuck around and don't settle down almost always get snagged into a paternity scandal.

Agreed, r384.
I would only add that if I had two children with the same woman and we split up. I'd race my ass to my physician to get a vasectomy, too.
No half-siblings.

My cousin got a vasectomy after his first marriage fell apart. Good thing too because his second marriage was an even bigger mess.

R352 Steve Wynn also had an affair with Sarah, Duchess of York, when she was still married to Andrew.

George Clooney never had a paternity scandal, did he? Or Brad Pitt.

r389, neither did I! He should have just made his model girlfriends give him handjobs while saving the real lovin' for Tobey Maguire, just like I did

I'm sure they were diligent about using a condom until they decided to have kids. Bing on the other hand never had any desire to have kids so he definitely should've had a vasectomy.

Is there a woman who was in his life who is being blamed for it all? That seems to happen, the scapegoating, any time a famous man kills himself....

The fact that he didn’t want kids and didn’t have any relationship with them, but went to court to ensure they got a share of the family fortune, reads more like an issue he had with his father and sister. Maybe she was the daddy’s favorite for providing him with actual grandchildren, and he was bitter about that.

I feel the words building inside me, I can't stop them, or tell you why I say them, but as I reach the top of the bridge these words come to me in a whisper. I say these words as a prayer, as regret, as praise, I say: Ghislaine, Ghislaine

Actually, and this is sort of interesting it was around this time of year 2 years ago that Bourdain and Spade hung themselves.

He jumped on monday at 1:00PM right after father's day. He probably felt deep remorse about his children. In instagram i've read people who were close to him saying Elizabeth did keep Damian away from Bing... he wanted work out a custody agreement with her away from a court mess... sad story... he should have fought for his children years ago.

"In 2002, Mary Bing told Vanity Fair that her brother had been “reproductively taken advantage of.”
Looks like since this time Mary was worried about the inheritance of HER children. She sounds very cold, manipulative and cunning... Steve Bing was obviously a spoiled and weak man-child.

Steve Bing was also one of the driving forces to coerce Graydon Carter of Vanity Fair not to publish a piece on Jeffrey Epstein (and Ghislaine Maxwell) written by John Connolly for Vanity Fair.
Maxwell was in contact with Bing before he died.

R399. He killed himself close to the anniversary of his girlfriend's death of overdose. More likely guilt at his role in this - paying for drugs for her, using with her, not getting her into treatment. It's frau-thinking to make it about the kids he never wanted.

[R392] in this case we now know it was his ex-gf --- and the article says they were planning on having kids together. AS IF.

Pfft to anyone who thinks Liz Hurley must be upset because there had recently been a rapprochement between herself and Bing.
Translation: Liz Hurley told the press there had been a recent rapprochement, foreseeing front-page stories in every women's magazine in the Western world about her grief and her now-dashed [sorry] hope that they might have reconciled and rekindled their Twu Wuv.
Gimmeabreak.
