I meant to have just one slice... but I just kept going. It was good.
You type fat, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 22, 2020 10:37 PM |
Toasted with cream cheese?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 22, 2020 10:38 PM |
I've done this before, too, OP. I had to quit buying it for that very reason.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 22, 2020 10:39 PM |
I do the same thing OP. And to make it worse, I slather it with butter. I think they bake cocaine into it.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 22, 2020 10:43 PM |
It's good for you, so don't fret.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 22, 2020 10:47 PM |
OP, you just described my childhood and my addiction to raisin bread. I used to spread a ton of butter like r4...even better put in the toaster... Now I want to buy a loaf. My brand was Pepperidge Farm...
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 22, 2020 10:50 PM |
I hate you all for bringing up one of my repressed fat person fantasies.. I've been thin for decades, but he's in here, and you've woken him up. Fatty wants 2 loaves now.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 22, 2020 10:54 PM |
[quote] I think they bake cocaine into it.
There is something addictive about it. It's the only food I do this with.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 22, 2020 10:57 PM |
The only food? Fuck! I have a whole list that I go ape shit over. I refrain from buying from that list and avoid it.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 22, 2020 11:01 PM |
Ben, we’ve talked about what leads to adult onset carb face!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 22, 2020 11:07 PM |
...but why?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 22, 2020 11:11 PM |
Raisin bread is highly underrated these days.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 22, 2020 11:12 PM |
It’s only edible toasted with butter
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 22, 2020 11:21 PM |
It makes great bread pudding too. Just let it dry out.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 22, 2020 11:24 PM |
Oh, I remember when granny and I would sit and eat raisin bread by the hearth after taking the carriage back from Sylertown. Back then, 47% of the raisins were dead flies. Granny and I would play a game to see who could get the most flies stuck in their teeth.
Thanks for evoking that lovely memory.

R7 again, typing with greasy finger from the Irish butter I slathered on the toast. I really hate you, OP. It was so delicious, but I must have gained some self-control, but I did have 4 pieces, including both of the ends, which are my favorite.
Ohhhh, the caramelized raisins that turn to jam, and the golden pools of melted butter in the crannies where the raisins were.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 23, 2020 2:20 AM |
Shameless product shilling.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 23, 2020 2:36 AM |
R7 I feel like that is all I have done to get through this damn pandemic. Eat delicious things and lots of it. I give myself permission by saying, "it's a pandemic, whatever it takes to get you through is fine". I reached a new level yesterday when discovered that Cutwater Mai Tais in a can are not bad all. Who the fuck drinks Mai Tais much less from a can? Apparently, I do.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 23, 2020 4:53 AM |
I would eat a whole loaf of it if it came with frosting.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 23, 2020 7:17 AM |
After spreading butter on the toast, add some honey and cinnamon too! Sinful!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 23, 2020 8:49 AM |
R19, I had never heard of Mai Tais in a can; I have never enjoyed Mai Tais; now all I want is a Mai Tai in a can!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 23, 2020 9:00 AM |
r7 reporting I tried to eat just 2 pieces for breakfast, ate 2 more, and one more. I am now thinking about baking today, I have cinnamon and raisins.
I feel like my partner will be performing this scene from the Simpsons, except, instead of fishing, he's going to have to break down over my baking. Thanks DL, he likes me a little fat, so maybe it will all work out.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 23, 2020 4:33 PM |
I almost bought a loaf this evening while waiting for my cold cuts in the Italian butcher. Damn you, OP. Never in a million years would I have thought of buying a loaf. I haven't had a slice since I was about 10. I resisted the temptation and focused on the hot counter guys.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 23, 2020 10:03 PM |
My grandmother loves Raisin bread. She always has whoever's doing her grocery shopping buy her two loafs.
I think I might start buying some for myself.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 24, 2020 12:22 AM |
Yet, Op
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 24, 2020 3:10 AM |
toasted and slathered with apple butter or used to make grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 24, 2020 3:14 AM |
I loved this stuff as a kid. With butter, with cream cheese, with or without cinnamon sugar sprinkled atop ...
I'm too afraid to buy it as an adult, because I would go hog-wild.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 24, 2020 3:20 AM |
Another week, another food gorging, fat ho.
It's getting repetitive now though.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 24, 2020 3:30 AM |
Get your ass to the nearest fat farm...ASAP!
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 24, 2020 3:33 AM |
OP, etc...I gave in when I was in Walmart buying Brasso to clean an old candelabrum (probably the gayest, most budget-friendly statement ever), and I went over to look at the Sun-Maid Raisin Bread. There wasn't even a price for it on the shelf, but I bought it for kicks. $3.48, and I'll save it for later. By "later," around 2AM when I'm rewatching 'Dallas' on Amazon Prime and will most likely devour the whole loaf. Perhaps this is a rite of passage for DL members?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 24, 2020 3:35 AM |
Id rather have this than a proper dessert
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 24, 2020 3:36 AM |
Raisin bread grilled cheese ❤️ would be the death of me!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 24, 2020 3:38 AM |
May I save you from this death?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 24, 2020 4:48 AM |
It’s seems like it’s a very grandma food. My grandmother was the one who introduced it to me and always had it around
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 24, 2020 4:50 AM |
The holy grail of raisin breads, Panettone, is the only thing more addictive.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 24, 2020 4:55 AM |
Ok, now we’re talking R27 the rest of you can keep your raisin bread. Panettone toasted and slathered with butter is SO much better.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 24, 2020 5:18 AM |
OP - I saw this at the grocery store yesterday and had to buy it after reading your thread. Thanks for the extra calories, you fat bitch! ❤️
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 24, 2020 5:32 PM |
Raisin Bread toast and butter...a couple pieces is NEVER enough. Even the crusts are great!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 24, 2020 6:28 PM |
Oh my god I haven’t thought about raisin bread in years, and now I desperately want some. My mother made delicious raisin bread, with a confectioners sugar glaze. Served warm with fresh butter, so good....
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 24, 2020 9:28 PM |
OP, my undying respect.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 24, 2020 9:39 PM |
It's one of those "everything comes in a single-serving container" foods.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 24, 2020 9:42 PM |
I do not gain weight eating 1 or 2 slices a day of this organic raisin bread available in most grocery stores. It makes amazing toast, even if frozen.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 24, 2020 10:20 PM |
R37 = Thread Hijacker! This thread is about, and only about. Raisin Bread. Start your own damn panettone thread!! FF!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 25, 2020 2:10 AM |
I ate a bunch of golden raisins because of this stupid thread today.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 25, 2020 2:21 AM |
Raisin bread French toast is my favorite.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 30, 2020 3:54 AM |
If you toast it and dump butter on it, it's amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 30, 2020 3:59 AM |
PBJ on warm raisin bread toast
Grilled cheese on raisin bread
Turkey with cranberry mayonnaise on raisin bread
by Anonymous | reply 49 | July 30, 2020 4:03 AM |
YOLO, girl.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 30, 2020 4:27 AM |
BREAD!!!

R32, that is one of the most DL posts, ever. This is why I love DL.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | July 30, 2020 5:31 AM |
If I get a bad craving like that, I buy a couple of raisin bagels from the bakery area of my local supermarket. (Those suckers are huge, so one or two is enough.) I also buy the whipped Philadelphia cream cheese. I toast the bagel and spread the whipped cream cheese on top. Butter would also work. Hits the spot.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | July 30, 2020 5:33 AM |
Raisins ruin everything. You must be fat to eat a whole loaf. I could see eating a whole birthday cake or an entire slab of ribs as they am good eatin' but raisin bread? Yech. You probably eat everyone's left over Christmas fruitcake too.
