chocked....are you Danish OP?
I know a few actors and I’ve heard no one is allowed to approach Leo or talk to him at events unless he himself initiates contact.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||06/22/2020|
OP must be a wheel, keep on spinning OP.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||06/22/2020|
He's a total dick. I worked at a private event where he was a guest and he treated the help as a plantation owner would have circa 1850.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||06/22/2020|
He's the "eco-warrior" who also owns yachts and takes private jets everywhere, right?
|by Anonymous||reply 4||06/22/2020|
Girlfriend was born 1997, when he made Titanic.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||06/22/2020|
Is she a girlfriend or a beard?
|by Anonymous||reply 6||06/22/2020|
He is the nicest guy on Earth.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||06/22/2020|
Not much to see.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||06/22/2020|
During the 90s I could understand the fascination with Leo. His performances in Gilbert Grape, Basketball Diaries, Boys Life, The Quick and The Dead, Titanic, Total Eclipse, and Romeo + Juliet were exceptional. He had energy and charm and did great in those roles. He was beautiful with nice hair. His looks faded by his late 20s sometime after The Beach and Blood Diamond. Now he is boring and annoying.
Also wasn't he always kind of a spoiled brat? His Pussy Posse antics aren't exactly classy. He had a low class upbringing and got rich and famous early on.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||09/02/2020|
|by Anonymous||reply 10||09/02/2020|
R1 makes him sound like the Queen.
Is he one?
|by Anonymous||reply 11||09/02/2020|
Well, OP, that kind of performance is why they call it "acting."
I only echo the chorus of disapproval here: DiCaprio is a mean-spirited, selfish, angry closet case. Who may or may not be a drunk.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||09/02/2020|
R8's link was entertaining only insofar as the misleading headline, which suggested DiCaprio and Jude Law giggling in a room somewhere and describing the penis sizes of other leading men.
The actual article is less interesting, and based on BS (Affleck wore a fake penis in GONE GIRL, for example).
|by Anonymous||reply 13||09/02/2020|
Leo hanged out with other child stars like Tobey Maguire, Lukas Haas, Jay R. Ferguson and Kevin Connolly and their partying frat boy antics were infamous in LA.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||09/02/2020|
I helped him select Christmas gifts about ten years ago. He was very nice, respectful, and patient. He had a posse of about 6 guys, including Lukas Haas (who was unsurprisingly quiet and reclusive).
|by Anonymous||reply 15||09/02/2020|
Is every actor who gets famous at a certain age not emotionally mature past that stage? Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp both still act like teenagers and they both are aging poorly due to all the drugs and drinking catching up to them. It's good Leo never had a child because he seems too selfish but if he did maybe it would have matured him like it did Colin Farrell.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||09/02/2020|
R1 and R3, please spill more gossip! What did Leo say or day that was so bad?
|by Anonymous||reply 17||09/02/2020|
I wonder why he chose not to have a child?
|by Anonymous||reply 18||09/02/2020|
He's probably not a bad person but seems sort of like he lives in his own world. Probably reasonably polite but nowhere near as philanthropic or concerned about the greater good as his public image is. He's a self-absorbed hedonist type who probably plays for both teams and most of his relationships do seem fake and staged.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||09/02/2020|
When he was young, he looked like he could have been in 90s Eastern European gay porn.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||09/02/2020|
He had no issue taking slutty photos for David LaChapelle.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||09/02/2020|

|by Anonymous||reply 22||09/02/2020|
I give him props for showing skin and doing gay love scenes when he was young and not widely known.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||09/02/2020|
Jude Law is small?
That's surprising, I don't know for sure though I should. He got up naked out of a tub in the play Indiscretions(I think that was the name) which I saw. When he got up his nether regions were blocked by the head of the woman in front of me. There was a lot of murmuring so I assumed if not large he was nice enough.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||09/02/2020|
He's at least self-deprecating.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||09/02/2020|
He's been married to Lukas Haas for more than 20 years.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||09/02/2020|
It must be true love because neither are looking hot these days though Lukas was never really attractive.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||09/02/2020|
I think the 'Jude Law is small' claim originates with some pap shot of him changing his pants, but as I recall he was crouching forward and pulling pants on, so you were seeing his dick foreshortened by the position.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||09/03/2020|
I wonder if Leo tried to flirt with Kirk Cameron, Johnny Depp, Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe during his twink years.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||09/04/2020|
His character Luke and Ben on Growing Pains had a lot of sexual tension.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||09/04/2020|
Him and Mahky Mahk. They worked together again on The Departed.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||09/04/2020|
He's supposed to be nice during those interviews where he's whoring himself for awards, OP
|by Anonymous||reply 32||09/04/2020|
Leo, Brad and Johnny were more interesting actors in the 90s. They took on non-mainstream type roles and tried hard to prove themselves as more than dense pretty boys. Now they are dense aging men who think they are still pretty boys.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||09/04/2020|
I thought it was a nice gesture of him to attend Alan Thicke's memorial and he wrote a very nice tribute to him. I would think he would want to ignore his time on "Growing Pains".
|by Anonymous||reply 34||09/04/2020|
I mean wasn't Growing Pains one of the highest rated sitcoms at the time. He's probably aware that it was a big opportunity for him even though it was a corny family sitcom. Unlike Kirk Cameron, Alan Thicke was beloved by many people and was cool with gays as judged him mocking Kirk on Twitter. I wonder if Jeremy Miller is mad that Leo outstaged him on Growing Pains.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||09/04/2020|
I meant to say, Alan Thick mocked Kirk's homophobia on Twitter. If Leo is closeted, that probably meant a lot that Thicke was an ally.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||09/04/2020|
None of them are nice.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||09/04/2020|
Apparently Leo grew up poor with a single mother and his father bailed on them. His mother worked in LA and would drive him to auditions back to back to make sure he would get his big break. He talked about growing up in East LA and how rough and violent it was. But I'm curious if he exaggerates this upbringing.

|by Anonymous||reply 40||09/05/2020|
OP = Leonardo
|by Anonymous||reply 41||09/05/2020|
I can't help but see Leo was a slutty twink back in the day and had more than a fair share of dick. He gives me bisexual vibes like crazy.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||09/05/2020|
He was only hot in the 90s albeit overhyped. Yet people and the media still seem to see him as looking like Romeo or Jack Dawson. He looks terrible now.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||09/06/2020|
He's looked like shit for years. Fat and puffy. Must be a big drinker.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||09/06/2020|
He invited Zac Efron to his house for breakfast. He is gentile person.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||09/06/2020|
I found him very sexy in The Quick and The Dead as a cocky young cowboy and hot in The Basketball Diaries and The Beach. He made a sexy Rimbaud too. At least he showed his body and ass off early while he was a sexy twink.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||09/06/2020|
Didn't Alan Thicke groom Kristy Swanson?
|by Anonymous||reply 47||09/06/2020|
He's the last person in Hollywood I would think it was a nice guy. Tons of bodyguards. Always so smug and holier than now attitude. I want to save the world. But is always flying around in a jet. Only dates 20-year-old models that are stupid to believe his crap.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||09/06/2020|
He seems to be very stuck up and uptight, too. Of course maybe that's a product of being so famous.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||09/06/2020|
He keeps claiming he grew up poor and lived in the ghetto. But is that actually confirmed?
|by Anonymous||reply 50||09/06/2020|
Was he not on "Growing Pains"?
|by Anonymous||reply 51||09/06/2020|
[quote]Apparently Leo grew up poor with a single mother and his father bailed on them. His mother worked in LA and would drive him to auditions back to back to make sure he would get his big break. He talked about growing up in East LA and how rough and violent it was. But I'm curious if he exaggerates this upbringing.
Some of that is exaggerated. After his parents split, his father lived next door to them for a number of years so they could raise Leo together. He also was involved with Leo's career, suggesting Leo consider doing "Total Eclipse" after he initially passed on it. I'm sure they weren't rich, I've read that the mother held down several jobs.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||09/06/2020|
That's still a double income household if they raised him together implying the father was working a lot too. I guess he felt because he was a white boy living in East LA, he had to create a rags-to-riches tale for his image.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||09/06/2020|
OK apparently was raised in Los Feliz, East Hollywood and Silver Lake in Central LA. I'm sure they are very working class with crime but I doubt they were like Crenshaw and The Wats or anywhere in deep East LA.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||09/06/2020|
Silver Lake... Silver Lake...
|by Anonymous||reply 55||09/06/2020|
He's a Scorpio. What do you think? He's cruel and a perv.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||09/06/2020|
He also lived in Echo Park
|by Anonymous||reply 57||09/06/2020|
His childhood was spent in Central LA
|by Anonymous||reply 58||09/06/2020|
Leo was more entertaining when he was young carefree airheaded twink. Now he tries to act all sanctimonious and pretends he is educated when he isn't.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||09/06/2020|
His family was lower middle class but they weren't destitute. He went to decent schools and never went hungry. Leo has exaggerated a bit about how tough his upbringing was.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||09/06/2020|
He was a small poor white boy from El Barrio--but he had DREAMS. And talent.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||09/06/2020|
You also have to remember that LA was a helluva lot cheaper back then. Lower middle class meant you could still live a decent enough lifestyle. You weren't exactly poor.
|by Anonymous||reply 62||09/06/2020|
Leo was a wigger like a lot of white guys from LA like Brian Austin Green, David Faustino, Jonah Hill, Shia LaBeouf, etc.
|by Anonymous||reply 63||09/06/2020|
[Quote] You also have to remember that LA was a helluva lot cheaper back then.
Why was that? Hollywood was already the centre of the entertainment industry for many decades. What changed?
|by Anonymous||reply 64||09/06/2020|
I think LA wasn't as densely populated back then and also the drug epidemic made it less desirable to live in. So more houses were available, more land was free to develop and the demand for housing wasn't as high. I assume many of the wealthy or many of the people working in the industry lived outside of LA proper and just commuted. Now LA seems to have been gentrified.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||09/06/2020|
More foreign investment in LA, more people moving there, more businesses.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||09/06/2020|
I knew people in LA in the early 90s in Silver Lake, Los Feliz, and Echo Park. Echo Park was kind of "dicey" back then, apparently. They were all young Boho types without much money.
Are these "nice" places to live 30 years later?
|by Anonymous||reply 67||09/06/2020|
I wonder if young Leo has a sex tape of him sucking dick.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||09/06/2020|
He has a career because of Kirk Cameron. It’s not something I can overlook.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||09/06/2020|
Kirk probably made him pray the gay away.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||09/06/2020|
The three guys (including Kirk) on Growing Pains all looked equally gay. Brad Pitt was also on Growing Pains for two episodes.
|by Anonymous||reply 71||09/06/2020|
Why else do you think my agent booked me as a guest stat on that stinkbomb of a show after [italic]Silver Spoons[/italic] was canceled?
|by Anonymous||reply 72||09/06/2020|
|by Anonymous||reply 73||09/06/2020|
Franklyn Seales was a hottie and it was cute seeing him fangirl of his queen Whitney Houston on that episode Silver Spoons.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||09/06/2020|
SISCHY: Talk to me about whether or not you think you have a sense of yourself in physical and sexual terms.
DICAPRIO: I’m still exploring in a lot of ways. I don’t know myself completely.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||09/07/2020|
If Leo came out of the closet early in his career, he may have lost his leading man roles in the 90s like Titanic and Romeo + Juliet. But if he came out after Titanic maybe he could have been groundbreaking due to how massively popular he was even at the expense of his career. Despite his wealth and fame, he seems so bitter now.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||09/07/2020|
There was an interview during the Bway revival of "Hedwig and The Angry Inch" where John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask (the creators and original cast) outed DiCaprio in an anecdote about a Hollywood flack offering to get the openly gay Trask a girlfriend for the original movie premiere and press tour back in 2001, "just like we did for Leo."
I can't find it now on YouTube. It may have been scrubbed.
|by Anonymous||reply 77||09/07/2020|
Kirk landed a really pretty wife. If he started off gay , religion fixed that. DiCaprio keeps hot women around him to ensure he does not become gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 78||09/07/2020|
Hollywood in the 1980s was a cesspit for child and teenage actors. Hoping that DiCaprio escaped unscathed, but his subsequent behavior indicates probably not.
|by Anonymous||reply 79||09/07/2020|
I guess Leo is stuck in the closet because if he came out his reputation would be tarnished. He would be seen as a walking example of internalized homophobia for manipulating the public far longer than necessary. He probably feels guilt and disgust at himself too and uses the philanthropy and environmentalist angle to feel better.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||09/07/2020|
You don't have to come out as gay to come out. Look at Niecy Nash.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||09/07/2020|
Keanu gets my respect for saying "there's nothing wrong with being gay" when asked about his sexuality in an early 90s interview. Anderson Cooper always got visibly angry when he had to deal with homophobes on his show and even said "we're not like that". Has Leo ever stood up for gay rights?
|by Anonymous||reply 82||09/07/2020|
He played Rimbaud.
|by Anonymous||reply 83||09/07/2020|
My partner worked him on a show and said he was always the ultimate gentleman. Personally, I think he has a face like a child and when he cries, which he does often, it's like watching a millennial having one of their sensitivity tantrums.
|by Anonymous||reply 84||09/07/2020|
R28 = Jude Law
|by Anonymous||reply 85||09/07/2020|
"Every person I talk to says that. All I know is that I'm going to do this movie "Total Eclipse," which is the story of Rimbaud, the poet. And David Thewlis is going to play Verlaine."
"Verlaine was his lover, no?" I say.
"That's not what the story is about, but yes, I will have to kiss him on screen."
My eyebrows go up and down. DiCaprio laughs. "I don't have a problem with doing a film about a relationship of love with another man," he says. "That's just acting, you know what I mean? But as far as the kissing stuff, that's really hard for me, I'm not kidding. But I've faced the fact that I'm gonna have to do it, and I'm gonna do it because I supposedly loved the guy. But the movie isn't about homosexuality, although I'm sure that's what the press is gonna be all over. Have you ever kissed a girl?"
|by Anonymous||reply 86||09/07/2020|
I hesititate, wanting to phrase this so he'll understand. "No," I finally say. "Not in the way you mean."
"Could you?" he asks.
"Could I what?" I say.
"Kiss a girl." He seems to be liking asking the questions.
"For money?" I ask.
"Oh, yeah, for money. Because the money's gonna be there, you're making a film. So could you?"
"Yes," I answer, no faltering.
DiCaprio smiles. "I'll tell you about the first kiss that I had," he says, "It was the most disgusting thing in my life. The girl injected about a pound of saliva into my mouth, and when I walked away, I had to spit it all out. It was awful."
|by Anonymous||reply 87||09/07/2020|

"Have you ever kissed a guy?" I ask.
He looks at me with all seriousness. "My publicist told me that if I felt uncomfortable with a question, I should just say so."
"You little shit," I shreik. "You asked me first..."
He's laughing. "I'm only kidding. I'm not uncomfortable. And no, I've never kissed a guy. But when I have to do that scene, I'll tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm going to go in there, and I'm going to walk over to him, and I'm going to stick my tongue down his fucking throat and probably swerve it around a bit. That's it, end of story. On that day I will have no fears or qualms about it."
"I know actors how have to get drunk before they do the scenes that really scare them."
"That has to do with insecurity. If I commit myself to a movie, I'm gonna have to go through with it. I think that's sort of cool of me, actually."
"Yes, it's very big of you, Leonardo."
|by Anonymous||reply 89||09/07/2020|
Good lord. I have no doubt that conversation with the woman from MOVIELINE took place. And I realize he was a young man, and it was 1995.
But was she really urging him to get drunk first to get through a scene "that really scared [him]?" Who the F is this writer?
|by Anonymous||reply 90||09/07/2020|
Bobbie Brown, former rock groupie and video girl kissed and yelled about sleeping with young Leo. It's hilarious.
"We went back to his place that night. Leo had barrettes pulling back his dirty blond hair," Brown said. But before the two got intimate? "He turned on some music and started singing the TLC song 'Waterfalls' to me. It was weird — I wasn't into it at all," she admitted of the smash 1995 R&B hit.
The singing may have been a bit awkward, but Brown, then 26, brightened up soon enough. "When I pulled his pants down I was like, 'Holy sh-t.' I'd just been with Tommy Lee, but Leo looked huge," she exclaimed. "But the whole thing was awkward, and we didn't hang out much after that."
Now I can't get that image of twink Leo with barrettes in his hair singing TLC
|by Anonymous||reply 91||09/07/2020|
Bobbie has more on fucking Leo.
"I unbuttoned his jeans and tugged down on his boxers. (What) I saw made me gasp. It made no sense. The kid put Tommy Lee to shame," the model wrote in her book "Dirty Rocker Boys: Love and Lust on the Sunset Strip"
Leo asked "So Bobbie, do you have any diseases? Also what about gonorrhea? Have you been tested for that?" she shared.
"Waves of satisfaction rippled through my body. If only Tommy Lee could see me now," she continued in the tell-all referring to her famous ex that reportedely left her for Pamela Anderson.
"He was a unicorn. Rare, innocent, and horny. Me, on the other hand, I'd been engaged, married and had given birth. I needed a man, not a man-child."

I don't get the obsession with categorizing by the year they were born. It's so arbitrary and you can't paint everyone in the same cloth. Cultural and regional differences play a big role too.

When I saw the OP's pic, I stopped to guess how old he is. I guessed 54. Shocked to find out he's only 47.
Already has the dried-up-old-man smoker's lips...from...smoking.
When he's 50, he'll look 60.

At least he's accepted the aging process. Better that than... Mickey Rourke.
|by Anonymous||reply 100||09/07/2020|
Leo is more of a Xennial and older millennial icon than Gen X icon.
|by Anonymous||reply 101||09/07/2020|
He's an icon to later Gen Xers i.e. the Gen Xers who are around the same age as him.
|by Anonymous||reply 102||09/07/2020|
r99 he's 45.
|by Anonymous||reply 103||09/07/2020|
R102 The oldest millennials were born in 1980. Leo starting becoming popular in the mid 90s. He is an icon to both Gen X and millennials. Generations overlap.
|by Anonymous||reply 104||09/07/2020|
Most icons are a few years older than their demographic. Prince, Madonna, George Michael, Morrissey and Michael Jackson are all Baby Boomers but are icons to Gen X.
|by Anonymous||reply 105||09/07/2020|
I agree r104. I was just saying that he's an icon to later Gen Xers too. I was born in '76 and my peer group was obsessed with him in the 90s. I was in college when Titanic came out and he was very much a big deal with my age group of younger Xers. Of course older Millennials loved him too, back then.
|by Anonymous||reply 106||09/07/2020|
Very true r105. Madonna is technically a Boomer, but I remember back in the day that most Boomers HATED her, especially the older Boomers who are my parents' age. It was Gen X who made her a star. And she is THE icon of Gen X gay guys. Nobody else even came close to what Madonna meant to us.
You can see the Boomer hate for Madonna all the time here on DL, even though she's of their generation. It's Gen X who have always been her biggest fans.
|by Anonymous||reply 107||09/07/2020|
Lots of current youth are obsessed with the nineties. He's still an icon to young people. This 19 year old chooses Leo as the actor to play him in the movie of his life.
|by Anonymous||reply 108||09/07/2020|
People are obsessed with 90s Leo and like to pretend current Leo still looks like that.
|by Anonymous||reply 109||09/07/2020|
I don't think anyone pretends he still looks like that. But he people respect him so much that his looks and model ways are given a pass.
|by Anonymous||reply 110||09/07/2020|
River is also popular with young people too on social media for being "ahead of his time".
|by Anonymous||reply 111||09/07/2020|
Most of his appeal to young people was exactly for his looks and cool factor, his talent comes second to that, like James Dean, Marlon Brando and Elvis Presley. Many straight men mainly admire him for pulling in hot model chicks and living a wealthy lifestyle.
I mean how many young people obsess over actors like Daniel Day Lewis, Steve Buscemi or Al Pacino?.
|by Anonymous||reply 112||09/07/2020|
His youthful hooks them in but it's not what has sustained him, just like it wasn't what sustained Marlon Brando.
|by Anonymous||reply 113||09/07/2020|
Pacino has "Scarface". Young straight men love that movie. Day Lewis was more highbrow, mostly. No young person gives a shit about "Last of the Mohicans."
|by Anonymous||reply 114||09/07/2020|
That skank talking about how huge he is! He's one guy who doesn't look like he'd be packing at all. Sometimes looks can be deceiving though, I've been with a few really skinny, slight guys (like Leo was when he was younger) who didn't look like they'd have much going on between their legs and they turned out to have monster cocks.
|by Anonymous||reply 115||09/07/2020|

|by Anonymous||reply 116||09/07/2020|

A family friend was his assistant for many years. She always kept his business to herself but said the same thing over and over. Kind and generous to a fault. And one of the nicest people she ever worked with. The only reason she left was to try something different. She loved him.

He is part of the Hollywood 'woke' set (like Emma Thompson, Cate Blanchet, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Sean Penn, etc) who are very much 'Do as I say, not as I do' as they preach about climate change to us mere mortals which spending half their fucking lives in jets flying all over the globe.
Vile bunch. The only plus side of COVID is it is helping to destroy the entertainment industry.

|by Anonymous||reply 128||09/08/2020|
Leo has no God in him like Kirk does. No moral compass or spiritual guide in his life. Leo wants to live fast and always be inebriated and never have to take responsibility. Kirk wants to preach and control others. Leo is better because he will hurt himself while Kirk will hurt others.
|by Anonymous||reply 129||09/08/2020|
Leo doesn't seem to love women besides his mother. He can fuck them but doesn't seem to be any romantic connection. He just sees them as toys. But he seems to love men emotionally and genuinely smiles when around his male companions. Either he's really misogynistic or he's a gay leaning bisexual

A friend of mine and his dining companions were forced to give up their table at a restaurant because Leo came in with his douchebro entourage and boyfriend (I presume Haas, though I didn't ask) and threw a hissyfit about people already being seated at the table [bold]he[/bold] wanted.
I've also heard an anecdote about DiCaprio asking a woman at a bar if she knew who he was, and saying "Then act like it!" when she replied in the affirmative. I didn't know the teller though, so I don't have the same degree of trust that it actually happened. Wouldn't surprise me if it did, though.

Leo's partner seems to be Lukas but apparently he was also involved with Tobey Maguire. I wonder if he let Mark Wahlberg fuck him. He probably wanted to bang River Phoenix too given he sounded enthralled by seeing him in that brief moment. Leo bangs girls but his heart belongs to the men in his life.

After seeing that thread about Aaron Carter (maybe apples & oranges here), IMO, Leo has done extremely well and not just financially.
I give him credit for not getting married & having children like Ben Affleck did. Why make children suffer for your lifestyle?
His money does put him in his own world.
Kathy Griffin heckled him at an awards show (because he was walking around talking on his cell phone) and he took her heckling well. KG is obnoxious, so I give Leo credit for not acting like a damaged flower.

Considering three of his longtime girlfriends - Bar Rafaeli, Giselle Bundchen and Blake Lively - got married and had children after breaking up with him, he has likely had that "Where do you see this relationship going?" discussion and was sure that he didn't see himself on the marriage/fatherhood path. Maybe he'll hit his fifties or sixties and start having kids like Hugh Grant or Jeff Goldblum, but who can blame him for wanting to be untethered.

There's a rumor that Leo did discuss having children with some other A-list actor. I'm sorry, I forgot the details. But they discussed waiting until 40; Leo countered with "What about 50?" I really hope he doesn't start having kids at 50. That would be so Clooney-esque.

I never thought Leo was gay until I watched Total Eclipse and later read and watched interviews of him when was younger and had less of a filter and compared that to how he is today. I never actually thought much of him or cared about his personal life until I saw him in Total Eclipse making out with David Thewlis. Then i noticed how cold and robotic he is around women yet seems more warm and affectionate with guys. He certainly doesn't seem straight now.

Leo just doesn't seem into girls romantically. They are just accessories. He publicizes his relationships for all to see but doesn't even seem to try to pretend to be lovey dovey with them. Though they seem to be escorts just there for the pay. I don't think people are delusional to not buying his act because it's clear all of it is stunts.

|by Anonymous||reply 163||09/08/2020|
I find it comical how he got compared to River Phoenix, James Dean and Marlon Brando. Sure, DiCaprio was a talented gorgeous young actor but nowadays he just phones in his roles and plays it safe. Leo seems more concerned with his fame and image to maintain his Hollywood lifestyle than anything else. He was way more likable when he was younger, energetic and unpretentious with a smartass sense of humor. He was a goofy cocky boy-next-door type. Now he wants to be seen as deep intellectual who wants to save the planet and hires pretty adolescent girls to make him seem like a Casanova to the press. It's comical.
|by Anonymous||reply 164||09/08/2020|
He was wonderful in the Nineties, lots of interesting choices in roles and he was excellent. As others have said, once he hit major stardom he kind of lost that spark and has played it safe ever since.

R165 I feel like Joseph Gordon-Levitt is what Leo could have been. JGL started as a kid actor and on a family sitcom but transitioned into adult roles early and gained acclaim. But the difference is JGL still does interesting work and indie projects and while he may not be super mainstream, he is very respected for his acting nevertheless. Even Matthew McConaughey and Colin Farrell are more interesting to watch than Leo nowadays.

R145 Those women got with straight men who fell in love with them. Leo doesn't seem capable of being in love with a woman. He can sleep with them but just doesn't seem to want to have a serious romantic relationship. People don't understand that sometimes romantic and sexual attraction don't line up. Leo seems like the walking example of "bros before hoes" aka homoromantic.

Homosocial, not romantic.
|by Anonymous||reply 172||09/08/2020|
Leo is just seems misogynistic. Despite having a mother he is close to, he seems to not like women at all besides for sex. The name of Pussy Posse itself lends that away. He seems to still have the mind of an adolescent boy that thinks "boys rule, girls drool"
|by Anonymous||reply 173||09/08/2020|

|by Anonymous||reply 174||09/08/2020|

|by Anonymous||reply 175||09/08/2020|
The media does that for him. It's not like he's Tom Bianchi, forever talking about his latest as "the love of my life."

R171 r172 and r173. You guys just danced around the idea that Leo is probably closeted. There is no misogyny or sexual attraction to women. The guy is more likely to be gay and those women are hired to be pictured with him. There is no sex in the contract.
|by Anonymous||reply 178||09/09/2020|

These octogenarians think that any male entertainer or athlete who’s white and reasonably attractive is gay despite a mountain of evidence that proves otherwise. It's only when they slip up and say or do something homophobic do they reconsider.
And that's when the fun starts!

|by Anonymous||reply 183||09/09/2020|
I've always liked Leo as an actor, particularly his earlier work, for example, Gilbert Grape and This Boy's Life. He's one of those actors who is so controlled and guarded in terms of his private life, which has not stopped public scrutiny, in fact, it probably makes people even more curious. I'm not convinced he is straight, but whether he is bi or gay I have no idea. There's a video somewhere of Leo with his posse walking in New York and they bump into Jonah Hill. He really pings to me and his friends do too.
|by Anonymous||reply 184||09/09/2020|
I remember watching Django Unchained and I didn't understand the praise for Leo's performance in it. Yeah, he said the N word which got a lot of press (even though it really shouldn't have because it was supposed to be a period piece). But his Southern planter accent was terrible and he was not at all believable in that role which is a big issue, he's too distinctive. Anyone else could have played that role.
|by Anonymous||reply 185||09/09/2020|
I can't imagine Frankie Grande in that role.
|by Anonymous||reply 186||09/09/2020|
R186 OK I will give you that
|by Anonymous||reply 187||09/09/2020|
Leo Dicaprio is one of those actors who just can't convincingly play a period role that takes place before the 20th Century. He's too "modern" in both looks and manner.
|by Anonymous||reply 188||09/09/2020|
Yep I agree. Same issue with Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder too in Dracula and their awful Victorian accents. Leo's accents aren't that good, his Southern accent in Django was awful (like a Foghorn Leghorn impression) and his NYC accent in Basketball Diaries was very uneven. Johnny Depp also isn't good at accents either, his British accents always sound fake to me.
|by Anonymous||reply 189||09/09/2020|
Even the early 20th Century is pushing it with Dicaprio, he's really only suitable for the post WWII era.
And even then, everything he plays is like a person from Southern California, no matter what region of the US the character is supposed to be from. His Jack in Titanic was like a Southern California guy from the 1990s went back in time.
|by Anonymous||reply 190||09/09/2020|
So Cal doesn't even register as a thing to most of the world so it's not an issue. How many American actors suit period movies?
|by Anonymous||reply 191||09/09/2020|
It's funny some actors retain their accents for their brand. Matthew McConaughey is always Texan. Mark Wahlberg is always Boston. Matt Dillon is always New York. Cameron Diaz is always Southern California. Keanu is always Canadian.
|by Anonymous||reply 192||09/09/2020|
Sean Connery is always Scottish.

It seems Leo's career got a revival through the help of Scorsese, Nolan and Tarantino because it seemed the period between Titanic and The Departed, he sort of was low-key in the public eye and did performances here and there like The Aviator and Gangs of New York. Then The Departed, Shutter Island and Inception happened he ended up becoming a huge celebrity again, in the tabloids and getting all this praise and called "the greatest actor ever".
|by Anonymous||reply 202||09/10/2020|
Isn't Gangs of New York a Scorsese movie? And The Aviator was not low key.
|by Anonymous||reply 203||09/10/2020|
R203 I meant to say Scorsese kept this career going with Departed and Aviator. But I feel during that period of time when Leonardo wasn't in the public eye 24/7 and did his movies and went home. Then around the time of Inception, he blew up again in the media, he started becoming a recurring character in tabloid fodder and extremely self-promoting.
|by Anonymous||reply 204||09/10/2020|
I wouldn't characterize it as Scorsese keeping DiCaprio's career going. The Beach's domestic box office was weak, but it did OK internationally and Catch Me If You Can was big. Leo had his pick of roles after Titanic and also branched out into producing with some big successes early on, so his pacing and choice of roles was all his own decision.
While there's a definite break in the type of films he made pre and post Titanic, I think he deserves some credit for not going down an easy or obvious movie star path. He doesn't do romantic dramas or comedies, he doesn't do comic book movies, and while he's done a couple action films they were more on the eclectic side. His movie choices aren't as daring as when he was starting out, but they are compared to other actors of his caliber. And let's face it, there are very few if any other actors who could pull such a huge box office return with a movie like The Revenant.
I also have tons of respect for both him and Kate Winslet for "reuniting" with a movie like Revolutionary Road instead of the kind of film their fans desperately wanted to see them in.
|by Anonymous||reply 205||09/10/2020|
I do give him credit for not going the Marvel/Summer Blockbuster route.
|by Anonymous||reply 206||09/10/2020|
I found THE AVIATOR incredibly bloated and tiresome, and it diminished some of Dicaprio's "genius" for me. The acting work showed, which is never good. (Full disclosure: I haven't really liked a Scorcese movie since GOODFELLAS.)
It's just the kind of self-important awards-bait movie that ages badly. Sixteen years later, I can't imagine it's a favorite for that many people. It's faded into irrelevance, like so many other films like it.
|by Anonymous||reply 207||09/10/2020|
Leo is certainly an enigma. He keeps himself very guarded and is extremely controlling of his public image. We don't know much about him besides what he wants us to know and he isn't like Keanu Reeves or Christian Bale who are private but still honest and carefree. Leo seems extremely reticent. He is kind of like Beyonce in that sense. Both were very open and energetic when young but after they reached a high level of fame, they withdrew themselves and started letting their PR team do everything for them. Leo seems unhappy to me despite all his wealth and fame. I imagine that overexposure at a young age was quite traumatizing for him. It's something we don't think about but it's a lot of pressure and stress to have on your shoulders even if he wanted to become a big actor when young.
|by Anonymous||reply 208||09/10/2020|
I don't know that I'd ever describe the tightly wound Christian Bale as either honest or carefree, but otherwise I agree with your post.
|by Anonymous||reply 209||09/10/2020|
Why does DL think every male celebrity is gay. Get over yourselves.
That being said, I loved him in Grape. And he has turned out decent work with Wolf and Once Upon a Time.
That being said, I have no desire to ever meet him. He’s an actor with lots of money who dates female models under 25 and his friends are hanger-ons from his 20s. I can’t imagine stimulating conversation with that one.
|by Anonymous||reply 210||09/10/2020|
I don't think every male celebrity is gay. But when they have all these publicity stunts where they parade around with have tons of young women. It seems manufactured and something a closeted gay/bi man would do to appear hetero. If Leo likes dating and fucking models, then why does he need to show it off to the press all the time. Believe it or not, celebs can easily live private lives and not flaunt. The paparazzi are called by the agents of celebrities to give them media attention. So speculation of Leo's sexuality is not unfounded.
|by Anonymous||reply 211||09/10/2020|
I think when you act at such a young age and especially after you get famous at a young age, it delays a lot of crucial social skill development. Fame is a traumatizing thing, we think it's cool and impressive but it's extremely stressful and high-pressure for an individual who is still growing emotionally and mentally. Leo also came from a working class household, so being wealthy was never something that was a matter-of-fact for him and he probably wants to live out all his fantasies he dreamed of as a childhood I guess. That's why they say there's a difference in the behavior of old money and new money. I don't think he's very bright either, he prioritized fame over an education and has no life experience and it shows.

Elijah Wood has publicly stated that when he was a child actor, his mother never let him out of her sight during all the auditions and film jobs...and that’s the reason why he wasn’t molested. (The implication being that most child actors in Hollywood were.)

[quote] Elijah Wood has publicly stated that when he was a child actor, his mother never let him out of her sight during all the auditions and film jobs...and that’s the reason why he wasn’t molested. (The implication being that most child actors in Hollywood were.)
Yet she still signed off on the movie [italic]North[/italic].

Barry Manilow is gay?

Robert Downey Jr is an example of someone who was nonchalant about his sexuality too. “A lot of my peer group think I'm an eccentric bisexual,” he said. “That's OK. Being relaxed about sexuality is something you're born with.”
|by Anonymous||reply 231||09/10/2020|
r228 it was just an example of two stars who were never out in their prime but only officially came out when they were older men and nobody cared. Once you're past a certain age and totally unfuckable, and women aren't fingering themselves to you anymore, it's not really a big deal.

My friend worked on Stuart Townsend's travel on Queen of the Damned and said he was a boor; conversely, she said Jude Law was the sweetest person imaginable. She was a PA on a lot of films so has some perspective.

These contradictory anecdotes about Leo scream alcoholic. My neighbor is nice one moment, surly and out of it the next. Alchy.
|by Anonymous||reply 236||09/10/2020|
Not necessarily. Stories about celebrities need context. Some people act a fool around famous people and they act surprised when the celebrity "wasn't nice" or wasn't accommodating.
|by Anonymous||reply 237||09/10/2020|
Celebrities are people and can change moods. Like the above poster said, the anecdotes need context. But it does seem like Leo has control freak tendencies.
|by Anonymous||reply 238||09/10/2020|
I saw a photo of his parents and was very surprised to see that they looked like full on bohemian hippie types. For some reason he always seemed more like someone who was raised by Suzy Homemaker and a middle management father in some upper middle class suburb. Don't know why, he just has that vibe.
|by Anonymous||reply 239||09/10/2020|
Leo definitely looks like an alkie, very puffy in the face and neck and a big belly with skinny arms and legs.
|by Anonymous||reply 240||09/10/2020|
Apparently, he kicked when he was in his mother’s womb while she was viewing a piece by Da Vinci. That’s how he got his name.

He was raised lower middle-class, but as has been said lower middle-class in LA in the 70s/80s was still enough to live fairly comfortably. In 2020 LA lower middle-class would be much more of a struggle.

|by Anonymous||reply 248||09/10/2020|
Cameron is from the LBC. She reps the hood and said Snoop Dogg sold pot to her in high school. Just like Leo reps the Central LA hoods.
|by Anonymous||reply 249||09/10/2020|
I'm surprised Cameron never tried to date Leo, she had Matt Dillon, Justin Timberlake, A-Rod and Jared Leto.
|by Anonymous||reply 250||09/10/2020|
DiCaprio's behavior is a lot like Clooney's, another closet case. Clooney thought the ever-changing parade of cute young girlfriends was enough to keep the A-list heterosexual movie-star cred going. And it was, until Tina Fey and Amy Poehler made fun of him for it at the 2014 Golden Globes. Three months later, he was engaged to Amal.
If the same thing happens to Leo in 5-10 years, he'll do the same.
|by Anonymous||reply 251||09/10/2020|
Is Clooney even still bankable? I haven't heard of any films he's in years. Unlike Leo, nobody thought Clooney was a great talent and he's clearly a product of nepotism.
|by Anonymous||reply 252||09/10/2020|
*he's been in
|by Anonymous||reply 253||09/10/2020|
Clooney's A-list period was about mid-90s to mid-00s. His career was winding down by 2014. However, there have been rumors for years that he's going to run for office. If he did, a wife like Amal and two photogenic kids are necessary.
|by Anonymous||reply 254||09/10/2020|
Clooney isn't really seen as a product of nepotism because he took so long to "happen."
|by Anonymous||reply 255||09/10/2020|
Clooney's directing something new, but I don't know much about it. He's also been shilling for Nespresso forever.
I find the movies he's directed/produced hideously dull, but Hollywood still seems to think he's "classy."
|by Anonymous||reply 256||09/10/2020|
If he plans to run, he should get started. The man is pushing 60.
|by Anonymous||reply 257||09/10/2020|
Clooney is charismatic with a soothing and clear speaking voice. I will give him that. But he plays himself in every movie, even The Fantastic Mr. Fox was just Clooney playing himself.
|by Anonymous||reply 258||09/10/2020|

|by Anonymous||reply 259||09/10/2020|
At least Clooney went to college even if he dropped out. Leo dropped out of high school.
|by Anonymous||reply 260||09/10/2020|
I'm not a fan of Clooney, but Michael Clayton was a brilliant film. One of my all-time favorites from the last 15 or so years. Of course the performances of Tom Wilkinson and Tilda Swinton really made that movie, but Clooney was good too.
|by Anonymous||reply 261||09/10/2020|
[quote]If Leo likes dating and fucking models, then why does he need to show it off to the press all the time.
Because he doesn’t.
Riding his bike, swimming, and yachting with a baseball cap pulled down to hide his face isn’t “parading to the press.” He doesn’t even do press when he has a movie out. He seems to be the last person looking for publicity. These gay rumors have been around for a while. You would think that if he was this big closet case, he'd have at least gotten married in the past 30 years just to throw off you bloodhound queens.
It's funny how Leo not being married at 40-something is your reason for him being gay BUT Jeremy Renner gets married, has a kid and you STILL think he's closeted. That's hilarious.

|by Anonymous||reply 264||09/11/2020|
R251 are you saying the two lesbians outed him or they merely teased him about liking young women? He was outed for dating young guys in Italy prior to the sudden marriage.
|by Anonymous||reply 265||09/11/2020|
They teased him about dating very young women, but it could also have been seen as a wink to the audience that the young women were beards. Either way, it made him look like an asshole. Within 3 months he was engaged to an 'appropriate' woman, and in 6 months he was married to her.
|by Anonymous||reply 266||09/11/2020|
R262 if the major hunks all date Melissa Gilbert and other known lesbians and never date any straight females what is one to think. If gays want their idols to be gay, why are cruise and Travolta so loathed?

Thanks for posting that, R59! I've only seen snippets of that interview and have been trying to find the whole thing for years.
Looking back at young Leo, it weren't even the looks that made him so special imo. I mean, he was a very pretty twink, but not as otherwordly as I found him back then. But he had a spark, charisma, that je ne sais quoi - however you want to call it - that made him stand out from all the other pretty boys.
Sadly, whatever made him so alluring is completely GONE now.

I thought Bar Refaeli's tax evasion case would finally force Leo out of the closet.
I mean, it came out that she spent most of her time in Israel during their supposed relationship (and didn't pay taxes), that she never lived with Leo, but went out of her way to make it seem like she did. And he refused to testify in the case. Her lawyers asked him to confirm that he was in a relationship with Bar, thus making America her centre of life during that time, but he declined. All he did was have his FATHER submit a written affidavit! His freaking father!
Imo that pretty much confirms the relationship was fake, but the story quickly disappeared.

Leo was cute when young. His looks peaked for me between 1995 to 2000. I feel if he actually worked out, ate healthy and not drink so much, he would have preserved his looks longer. He looks bloated and blubbery. He looked better when he was lean. At least he never did any plastic surgery.
|by Anonymous||reply 275||09/11/2020|
It was nice Leonardo survived Alan Thicke's memory after his tragic death. He didn't forget where he came from even if it was on a corny sitcom with bad acting. Kirk really carried this show though. Anyway, Jeremy looks older than Leo and his voice is cracking but Leo is older than Jeremy in real life but still sounds like his balls didn't drop.
|by Anonymous||reply 276||09/11/2020|

Jason Bateman got married, had a couple of kids, and I've never questioned his heterosexuality.
Renner married a crazy actress just long enough for her to pop out a kid, had her (briefly) move in with him and his "childhood best friend and business partner" who he actually met in his 20s and who has had very public drama with said insta-wife, and always seems to be on the verge of a meltdown over SOMETHING despite being enormously successful in his career. None of which made me forget him getting mixed up in a brawl/knife fight in a Thai ladyboy bar at 2 a.m.

That Leo is so tight with Tobey and has always been says a lot. Company you keep, and all that.

|by Anonymous||reply 288||09/13/2020|
Topher is much cuter than Tobey.

Leo was ready to leave but his posse were starting to socialize. What did Leo do? He found the light switch in the living room or den or wherever they were having the party and started switching it on and off, to get their attention.
In someone else's house...to a party he hadn't been invited to...he sounds like a waterheaded prick. Someone should have smashed his melon head with something.
And of course, his pusse (yes I know what I typed) stopped and left with him...

I can definitely see Leo and RDJ just spilling all their secrets with age like Quincy once they get old and start losing their filters.

Eh, RDJ used to have no filters but all that Disney money bought some for him and got them installed by experts.

RDJ is alleged to have changed tremendously over the past decade. He's gotten super-conservative politically, for one. It's only about the bucks for him.

|by Anonymous||reply 310||09/20/2020|
I never saw his version of The Great Gatsby mainly because I feel he cannot fit this character. A farm boy of German descent from the Midwest who passed for WASP in Long Island. It's hard to imagine Leo pulling off such a character with nuance, also Gatsby is young in his early 30s and Leo was in his late 30s but doesn't look young from the pictures. Tobey definitely doesn't fit my interpretation of Nick Carraway either except for the possible homosexuality. But I will eventually see it to properly cast my judgment.

|by Anonymous||reply 316||09/20/2020|
Baz Luhrmann must have cast Leo as Gatsby with the gorgeous, enigmatically charming 'Romeo + Juliet' days version of him in mind. Unfortunately, by the time the movie got made, he had as much in common with that guy as you or I, both looks and acting wise.
In the early 2000s, when he would have been the right age to play Gatsby, Leo was still very handsome and charming. The quality of his acting had already drastically deteriotated though; he'd become hammy and predictable. I haven't really liked him in anything since Titanic.

R321 yeah it was a hook up. She’s a model. They met at Adrien Grier’s house. Is that how you spell his name? The main dude from Entourage. He's not gay. With as large as that entourage is and with how often he rotates the girls, someone would have sold him out by now. Imagine how much a pic would fetch let alone credible accounts. And it's easy enough to get around an NDA hiding the tattletales identity.
Closet types keep inner circles small and social interaction cosmetic. Think John Travolta
|by Anonymous||reply 324||Last Tuesday at 4:54 AM|
I wonder once the public gets tired of Leo and his roles start drying up. How will he adjust? I can't see him being a Buscemi, Hopper or Brando type playing character roles or go the route of Matt Dillon and Michael Keaton and just do indie films. He could always go into producing. Tom Cruise's and Leo's days are over. I think Matt Damon proved himself versatile enough to keep playing everyman roles. Brad isn't scared to do indies either and is producing a lot, so maybe he will be fine. Will Smith turned to becoming a social media influencer and George Clooney is focusing on activism and actually is speaking to the press unlike Leo. Maybe Leo will just retire or worse become a drunken drugged out mess like his big brother Johnny Depp

No inside gossip here, just an opinion. The vibe I get from Leo is that, gay or straight, he has a problem with his masculinity. He doesn't do superhero movies, but most of his films are clearly directed at a (straight) male audience. He's often plays 'tough guy' roles (The Departed, Gangs of New York, Blood Diamond...) that he doesn't have the right physique or voice for, and overacts so badly it makes me cringe. I mean, he overacts most of the time, but in these types of roles it's particularly bad, which makes me think that 1.) a 'typically masculine' demeanor doesn't come naturally to him, and 2.) he's very self-conscious about that fact.
|by Anonymous||reply 336||Last Tuesday at 5:15 PM|
The strange thing is that in his younger days, Leo seemed a lot more comfortable with his somewhat feminine appearance and demeanor. But ever since the Titanic days he seems desperate to appear more 'manly'.
|by Anonymous||reply 337||Last Tuesday at 5:24 PM|
Leo is effeminate and there isn't anything wrong with that. He cannot pull off being a macho guy. Even with the weight gain and facial hair, he is still the dazed out California twink. He needs to accept himself just like Matthew McConaughey accepted he will always be that guy from Texas (or any other Deep Southern state). Matt Damon is better at those everyguy blue-collar roles and actually is believable.

Yes, I could understand not getting married, but straight guys at that level of fame inevitably have a kid or two. They have a lot of procreative sex AND the ladies know that getting knocked up will ensure luxurious support for the next 18 years. Straight guys aren't careful about wrapping it up, either, especially when the woman assures him she's on the pill.
Either he's straight and infertile or something else is going on. I'm guessing it's something else.

Maybe Leo got his tubes tied. But why do people here not acknowledge bisexuality either?
|by Anonymous||reply 345||Last Wednesday at 8:02 AM|

R346 I think for more than a few people, a hole is a hole. Go ask the straight men who went to all-male academies, the military, prisons, etc. Ask the straight men who have tons of kids with their wives but go to a cruising spot to get their dick sucked by a dude.

[quote]A 46 year-old straight man who's never been married, never had a relationship that lasted for years and in many cases never had children is kind of a rare thing.
Liam Neeson didn't marry until he was that age...there were some rumors about him and teenaged twinks, but they quieted down after he married the beautiful Natasha Richardson.

Neeson had still been in long relationships, though.

Apparently when Neeson went looking for young black men it was only they that ended up horizontal...

R340 I asked her about the headphones and laying face down and she laughed and said no. She did mention thought that he was very nice to his housekeeper which was endearing

Thanks so much, R352. :) Your friend is a good sport. I am glad he's good to his housekeeper, how people treat their staff speaks volumes.

Leo aged the worst compared the other late 90s heartthrobs. Even Kirk Cameron who is of the 80s heartthrob era looks better than him.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Don't you just LOVE clicking on these things on every single site you visit? I know we do! You can thank the EU parliament for making everyone in the world click on these pointless things while changing absolutely nothing. If you are interested you can take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT and we'll set a dreaded cookie to make it go away. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
