However his mom Soap Star Linda Dano must be so proud of his success

He has no chin.

You’re quite wrong. He’s very talented.

R4
Yes very talented.
Loved him in L.I.E. , Little Miss Sunshine, There Will Be Blood, Love and Mercy, Youth...

R4 is correct. He's a very good actor. I guess some DLers hate him because he's not "hot"

I find him "stealth sexy."

Get out of here, he’s extremely talented.
His performance in Escape at Dannemora was incredible.

He was also good in the recent TV remake of War and Peace. I initially thought he was miscast as Pierre, but he pulled it off. And his directorial film debut, Wildlife (with DL fave JGyllenhaal), was quite good.

I thought Paul was great in Prisoners. I hated his character in Ruby Sparks.

I think he was gorgeous. Especially when he played young Brian Wilson. Those 60s-style tipped knit shirts became my wardrobe staple. I still need white jeans and bucks.

Just watched LIGHT AND THE SUFFERER, after sitting on my old DVD for years, and honestly I have no idea what to make of it. I...think I like it? Kinda? The mood, the subject matter, the magical realism and the ambient music have all beguiled me, as has the downbeat and hazy and gonzo way it was filmed (trivia: it contains some of the last ever shots on film of the burnt-out piers on the Hudson/62nd, before Trump tore them down).
However, I find the script (apparently lifted verbatim from the short story by Jonathan Lethem) somewhat juvenile and earnest and exposition-heavy, and it was clearly filmed on the cheapest shoddiest cameras available c. 2004. There are a ton of plotholes, and for an emotional and allegorical tale of the city it feels somewhat thin and unfinished, almost like a demo. Nonetheless, a then twenty-year old Dano gives a really credible and sweet and committed professional performance as the titular Light. Michael Esper is also quite good playing opposite Dano, more intense though not quite as natural on camera.

Linda was on some radio show years ago allegedly saying that she disapproved of interracial marriage and relationships.

It's really hard deciding whether Paul is a snotty pretentious industry kid jackoff, or a genuine guy who just really believes that film acting can be art.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 6, 2022 2:41 PM |
It was probably a joke but… Paul is not related to Linda Dano. Or Royal Dano.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 6, 2022 2:47 PM |
Ugly motherfucker,
He makes Michael Cera and that McLovin guy look like GQ models.

Dano looks just like a younger Jon Moxley aka Dean Ambrose, to the point I wonder if they're unknowingly estranged brothers or cousins. It's uncanny.

Future generations will see Daniel Day-Lewis for the houtrageous ham that he was, and give Dano's amazing performance in "There Will Be Blood" its (long over)due.
