This crowd seems desperate to get jacked up but the energy isn’t there.

by Anonymousreply 1June 21, 2020 12:53 AM

Lmfao

by Anonymousreply 2June 21, 2020 12:53 AM

I'm going to laugh like a hyena if it turns out Parscale really did know that a bunch of KPop stans requested tickets just to fuck with them, and he kept pushing the lie about overflow attendees anyway.

by Anonymousreply 3June 21, 2020 12:54 AM

Trump can't be happy with this turnout for his BIG return to his Nuremberg rallies.

Too bad. So sad.

by Anonymousreply 4June 21, 2020 12:55 AM

In the days leading up to President Trump's Saturday rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he and his allies ginned up expectations for a massive crowd with campaign officials telling CNN that more than a million people had registered to attend, and one local official stating they expected 100,000 to show up near the arena.

But those crowds didn't appear as large as expected Saturday afternoon, leading to an abrupt change of plans by the campaign.

A campaign source told CNN that the team was abandoning plans for the President to speak to an "overflow" area outside the arena in Tulsa where only a couple dozen people were standing near the outdoor stage less than two hours before the rally.

by Anonymousreply 5June 21, 2020 12:56 AM

CNN reporter on the scene just estimated the crowd at around 7,000!

by Anonymousreply 6June 21, 2020 12:56 AM

He's going to go on at length about how the LIEberal media scared people off with their corona talk.

by Anonymousreply 7June 21, 2020 12:56 AM

The crows shot on CNN.... body language odd... arms folded, hands clasped.. heads tilted, frowns or blank faces. None of it enthused.

by Anonymousreply 8June 21, 2020 12:56 AM

He's drugged or stinko or both.

by Anonymousreply 9June 21, 2020 12:57 AM

Claiming protesters outside were violent. A blatant lie.

by Anonymousreply 10June 21, 2020 12:58 AM

Is this rally turning into a flop or is it just me?

by Anonymousreply 11June 21, 2020 12:58 AM

I bet the acoustics in this partially empty arena are great. Trump’s words bouncing against the empty seats. Ha!

by Anonymousreply 12June 21, 2020 12:59 AM

[quote] It...suddenly makes sense.

[quote] Donald Trump is such a broken man with such broken, toxic relationships with his family and completely devoid of any actual friendships, does these rallies so he can be adored by people who don’t know him.

[quote] It’s never been clearer than right now.

[quote] These are stories he should be telling around a table or in polite company. Instead, he has to get these rallies in place to bathe in the attention of people who don’t know him and how broken he is.

[quote] It’s just...so sad and so pathetic.

“The crowd wasn’t as large as expected...”. What the hell CNN! That’s like saying WWII was a kerfuffle.

by Anonymousreply 15June 21, 2020 12:59 AM

Who will Trump blame for the low attendance? R6 Trump will say that there were 70,000 people there.

Another thought: This event is occuring during the Summer Solstice.

by Anonymousreply 16June 21, 2020 12:59 AM

R3, the true believers aren't that clever. This asshole wanted to really believe 1M requested. He has ended up completely embarrassing himself. I doubt it was on purpose.

by Anonymousreply 17June 21, 2020 12:59 AM

Trump seems to have forgotten that he is the man in charge, and is responsible for controlling the nation.

Biden isn't the President........YET !

by Anonymousreply 18June 21, 2020 1:00 AM

[quote]Who will Trump blame for the low attendance?

Protesters.

r16, He's already blamed the protesters and the media for the low attendance.

by Anonymousreply 21June 21, 2020 1:01 AM

Looks like around 2500. They were spread out on the arena floor and it didn’t appear to take up half the space.

by Anonymousreply 22June 21, 2020 1:01 AM

When you listen to Trump, you realize that he is just another Hitler.

by Anonymousreply 23June 21, 2020 1:02 AM

Wow. This is a huge, massive PR problem.

He comes off as a total loser.

by Anonymousreply 24June 21, 2020 1:02 AM

But it’s like a spoiled kid pretending to be Hitler

by Anonymousreply 25June 21, 2020 1:02 AM

So much for a tight race in November.

by Anonymousreply 26June 21, 2020 1:03 AM

Wow -- I just assumed that the arena would be packed. The long time since the last rally, all the media attention to it...I haven't had such a nice surprise in a good while.

by Anonymousreply 27June 21, 2020 1:03 AM

Trump will claim that the top tier wasn't really empty, it was graciously reserved for those who choose to practice social distancing.

by Anonymousreply 28June 21, 2020 1:03 AM

This is such and epic embarrassment for the ages.

by Anonymousreply 29June 21, 2020 1:03 AM

How can "The Onion" stay in business??? They cannot satirize any of this!

by Anonymousreply 30June 21, 2020 1:03 AM

I almost feel sorry for these people.

But then I remember those babies that are in cages wondering where their parents are and if they will ever see them again.

by Anonymousreply 31June 21, 2020 1:04 AM

The Trump people have explained that actually many thousands more wanted to attend, but left wing protesters stopped them from getting into the arena. So you see, millions of people did want to come, but the protesters stopped them. It's all the left's fault!

by Anonymousreply 32June 21, 2020 1:04 AM

Trump would love to be a dictator if it weren't for that pesky Constitution and other branches of government always getting in his way.

Make no mistake about it.

by Anonymousreply 33June 21, 2020 1:04 AM

I hope the first thing that Biden does is free those children from their cramped cages.

And reunite them with their parents.

by Anonymousreply 34June 21, 2020 1:05 AM

by Anonymousreply 51June 21, 2020 1:10 AM

by Anonymousreply 52June 21, 2020 1:10 AM

Remember how Spy called him a "Short Fingered Vulgarian" and he spent the next 30 years sending photos of his hands to Graydon Carter to prove his fingers were not short.

Straight line from that to the West Point story

by Anonymousreply 57June 21, 2020 1:11 AM

R33, I've said it in another thread: He could not be LESS American even if he tried. He has no respect for the foundation of this nation. No respect for laws nor the constitution nor the right to p r o t e s t. He is sooooo jealous of Putin and MBS and Kim Jong Un becaus t hey get to KILL anyone they want. The man would've gotten into a business deal with the Bin Ladens ON 9/11 if he could make money and no one found out. The most unpatriotic POS you will not find.

Those idiots waving the American flag who worship him only do so because they're fucking racists and bigots. Meanwhile, you have every race, sexuality and religion serving in the US military right now and Trump nor his family would ever sacrifice a fucking thing for this country. Greedy, vile scum of the earth and they're worshiped by idiots who don't comprehend how repulsed the Trump family is by the very sight of them.

by Anonymousreply 58June 21, 2020 1:12 AM

He's still shouting like a seething crazy lunatic at the remaining attendees. You can totally hearing him losing his shit behind the CNN reporters.

[quote]Donald Trump is such a broken man with such broken, toxic relationships with his family and completely devoid of any actual friendships, does these rallies so he can be adored by people who don’t know him.

People lined up for this days ago, they're all strung out, and then it wasn't even half as packed as it was supposed to be. They could have just driven there today.

He's going to lose some voters for this, I'm sure of it.

by Anonymousreply 64June 21, 2020 1:15 AM

My only issue with all of this is that I can't keep up with all of the hilarious tweets, comments and memes coming out of all of this. It's an overabundance of riches.

by Anonymousreply 74June 21, 2020 1:20 AM

For those of us older folks - he was ALWAYS an asshole. Back in the 80s he was always in the NY papers over his horrible behavior. And everything he touched turned to shit. Not to mention all the people he stiffed for payment. I even remember Clay Aiken of all people talking about his time on The Apprentice & how NBC ran everything including who got voted off each week. He’s a phony con artist.

And yet people voted for this moron and thousands of people are dead because of his incompetence.

by Anonymousreply 75June 21, 2020 1:20 AM

BLM protesters were told not to show up at the rally because the incels-of-the-month, aka the Boogaloo middle-aged "Bois" would be there waiting to start a riot.

by Anonymousreply 76June 21, 2020 1:21 AM

Also, notice the very same ole tired “rally actors” sitting behind him, including the 2 African Americans.

LMAO!

People really eat this shit up. George Carlin should have ran. Had he still been alive, all of these rally goers would have voted for him and he would have easily won and would have undoubtedly done a better job during official working hours, than Trump.

by Anonymousreply 84June 21, 2020 1:25 AM

I'm guessing they chose Tulsa for this event precisely because, in addition to being a Trump-friendly demographic with a comparatively low COVID infection rate, it was unlikely that BLM protesters would schlep out there in any great numbers.

No, R85. Please don't ever, ever forget that they originally chose Tulsa to maliciously pack the city with White Nationals on Juneteenth. The cruelty was the point.

Please don't ever let anyone forget how venal they are.

Because of the public outcry--I would assume from Tulsa officials, but maybe the GOP writ large--they moved it one day. But their original plan was for unmitigated assholery

TikTok users are trying to troll Trump's campaign by reserving tickets for Tulsa rally they'll never use

By Donie O'Sullivan, CNN

Updated 1:05 PM ET, Tue June 16, 2020

(CNN)President Donald Trump says almost 1 million people had requested tickets to attend his upcoming rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. But some who have registered for the free event, which is scheduled to take place at a nearly 20,000 seat auditorium next week, say they have no plans to attend.

They're trying to troll the President's campaign instead.

Mary Jo Laupp, a 51-year-old grandmother living in Fort Dodge, Iowa, appears to have helped led the charge on TikTok late last week when she posted a video encouraging people to go to Trump's website, register to attend the event -- and then not show up. "All of those of us that want to see this 19,000 seat auditorium barely filled or completely empty go reserve tickets now and leave him standing alone there on the stage," Laupp told her then-1,000 or so followers on TikTok, normally thought of a platform for dancing teenagers and not, necessarily, political action.

Laupp, who said she worked on Pete Buttigieg's campaign in Iowa last fall, told CNN she made the initial appeal upset that the rally was originally set to take place on Juneteenth, the holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The decision to hold the first Trump campaign rally in months on the holiday, and in Tulsa -- the site of one of the worst incidents of racial violence in US history --was met with widespread criticism amid nationwide protests about police brutality and racial inequality. The campaign eventually moved it one day later.

Still, the hometown newspaper has editorialized that "this is the wrong time" and "this is the wrong place," citing the challenges created by the coronavirus pandemic along with racial unrest following the killing of George Floyd.

Laupp, who works at a high school and signed up to TikTok earlier this year, told CNN the video blew up overnight. And then, alongside the choreographed dances, comedic dares and schoolyard pranks, the grandmother's prompt became a challenge of its own. Inspired users began posting videos showing they too registered for the event -- similar posts on Instagram and Twitter clocked up thousands of likes.

Her idea prompted multiple other TikTok users to post similar videos calling on their followers to do the same -- visit the website, register for the event, fail to show up.

One video, with more than a quarter of a million views, called on fans of South Korean pop music in particular to join the trolling campaign. Fans of the music, which is known as K-pop, are a force on social media -- they posted over six billion tweets last year alone. And they have a history of taking action for social justice causes.

Earlier this month K-pop fans rallied around the Black Lives Matter movement, drowning out "White Lives Matter" and other anti-black hashtags. It is not clear if K-Pop fans have registered for the Trump Tulsa rally in big numbers. Despite their intent, the objective of the effort, to leave Trump with an empty stadium on Saturday, is almost certainly going to be unsuccessful. Although the capacity of the Bank of Oklahoma Center in Tulsa is just under 20,000, the Trump campaign has, clearly, not put a limit on how many people can request tickets.

by Anonymousreply 204June 21, 2020 2:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 207June 21, 2020 2:55 AM

On top of that, to register for the event people have to hand over a phone number to the Trump campaign -- feeding the campaign's vast data operation.

When registrations passed 800,000, Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale described it as the "Biggest data haul and rally signup of all time by 10x."

Erin Perrine, principal deputy communications director for the Trump campaign, told CNN, "Leftists do this all the time. They think if they sign up for tickets that will leave empty seats. Not the case at all. Always way more ticket requests than seats available at a rally. All they are doing is giving us access to their contact information."

The RSVPs are designed to give the campaign a sense of what the turnout will be and to collect information about potential supporters for use in the campaign's voter database going forward. Those who make it into the event will be the ones that arrive first. It is a first come, first served event.

Campaign officials say that the RSVPs are concentrated in the area around Tusla, but are also coming from all over the country. Campaign events, both Republican and Democrat, rarely if ever require physical tickets to gain entrance. Trump campaign events have never required a ticket to get in and this event in Tulsa will be no different.

Trump on Monday said the campaign would utilize the convention hall next to the "magnificent stadium" where the rally would be held -- adding 40,000 additional spaces to the roughly 20,000 who can fit in the BOK Center. "I think we're going to have a great time," Trump said. He said he would discuss the state of the nation, "where we're going, where we've come from."

"We expect to have -- you know, it's like a record-setting crowd. We've never had an empty seat," he said.

Vice President Mike Pence was pressed by Fox News hosts on why the campaign couldn't host the rally at an outdoor venue, given the spread of coronavirus through aerosols in enclosed spaces. He suggested that was a possibility.

"You raise a good point and what I can tell you is it's all a work in progress and we've had such an overwhelming response that we're also looking at another venue. We're also looking at outside activities and I know the campaign team will keep people informed as that goes forward," Pence said, reiterating that there will be temperature screenings, hand sanitizer, and masks provided for people attending. But as CNN has reported attendees will not be required to wear a mask. Trump has notably declined to wear a mask in public.

The grandmother who helped spark the effort, Laupp, said the Trump campaign will "find bodies to put in seats." Still, she believes the TikTok stunt is an effective way to raise awareness about why the original plan to hold the rally in Tulsa on Juneteenth was so problematic in the first place.

Laupp told CNN she had heard from people this week who had not known about the Tulsa massacre, and that "we as American citizens owe it to marginalized communities to know those parts of history."

She said she plans on continuing to use her newfound TikTok platform in the months leading up to November's election. Having voted for Gary Johnson in 2016, she describes herself as a libertarian and while she is not yet sure if she will vote for former Vice President Joe Biden in the fall, she says she knows she will not vote for President Trump.

Fox and Trump have something to distract us from this failed event now

Tonight in Seattle's autonomous zone, 1 person was shot dead and another injured. Police weren't able to reach them in time since protesters have been blocking them. The suspect is still at large

so tomorrow that's what they'll focus on to try and discredit the protests and the defund the police movement

by Anonymousreply 212June 21, 2020 3:05 AM

by Anonymousreply 214June 21, 2020 3:05 AM

Ok - enough with the Tiktok thing. Even if they did get some seats, they were supposed to have a spillover second rally. They opened up the stadium to fill seats and stilll couldn't fill it up.

Stop with the whole teenager thing - the reality is there just weren't a lot of people who wanted to go.

Now conservatives on Twitter are saying that over 4 million viewed the rally and Biden couldn't get 1,000 to view his townhall. They are confusing those who want to watch a carwreck with a digital townhall.

Parscale ramping up attendance expectations like that was a really dumb move.

by Anonymousreply 232June 21, 2020 3:22 AM

I think some of you guys are misunderstanding the impact of the K-pop stunt.

The kids’ reservations didn’t keep deplorables from scoring tickets. Tickets were unlimited, per McEnany.

The gag was that they got the campaign to boast over the interest in the rally and set up the overflow stage.

by Anonymousreply 233June 21, 2020 3:22 AM

Didn't anyone in trumpworld think 1m tickets were excessive for an area of 300k and check to see if hotels were filling up?

by Anonymousreply 234June 21, 2020 3:23 AM

In fairness, the missing attendees may have mistakenly gone to Tulas, not Tulsa. For all we know, they may be waiting yet.

by Anonymousreply 235June 21, 2020 3:24 AM

What I've learned tonight: MAGAts are neither good nor real; they are evil... and imaginary!

by Anonymousreply 236June 21, 2020 3:25 AM

R233 - you act like this is the first time people have done this. It is not - people have been going online and buying ghost tickets to Trump rallies for years.

Brad Parscale knows this. He knows there were a lot of fake registrations. 800,000 registrations in a city of 400,000? C'mon - they're not THAT dumb.

Trump ALWAYS overestimates the rally numbers. So, yes they were overly optimistic, but this isn't new and I don't think it had much of an impact. They would have used the same stadium and prepared an overflow.

I don't think the registrations really had THAT much to do with it.

by Anonymousreply 237June 21, 2020 3:27 AM

Poor comparison re: the first come, first serve tickets, but 'Wheel of Fortune' was filming here at the Venetian in Las Vegas a few years ago. I "got tickets" (huge quotes) for myself, my mum, and her friend (mum and friend were going to fly in). Once I read the fine print that it was first come, first serve, we didn't go. People are inherently scared away by that, which is the point...you want the people inside the event who actually *want* to be there, not just because the tix are free. Obviously not many people wanted to be at the rally tonight. In fact, no one did (not even the people who made it). And yes, by the kids requesting 800K or a million tix, that not only scared people away, but the campaign knew they needed to allow the overflow space. In that way, it was the perfect hoax.

R233, I'm pretty sure we all got that part. It was the fact that Parscale couldn't wait to tweet about 800K-1M requests which makes all of this so laughable and that he will deservedly lose his job, particularly after despicably trying to save face by claiming anyone who would've attended couldn't because of "protester thugs" blocking metal detectors or whatever gibberish excuse he made for the abysmal attendance

What's hilarious about R250's Parscale tweet is that Trump will actually think he rated above primetime shows and did really well, despite the lack of crowds.

Of course what Parscale lacks to mention is the enormous amounts of joke tweets and bad coverage. Trump's on Twitter - he'll see it.

It's gonna be a very long night for them.

CNBC's Christina Wilkie on last night's speech:

Trump on Joe Biden: "He's not radical left. I don't think he knows what he is anymore. But he was never radical left."

This one sentence undermines Trump's entire campaign strategy, which is tying Biden to AOC & the far left.

Expect to hear that line in a Biden ad this fall.

by Anonymousreply 273June 21, 2020 11:52 AM

I'm going to go out on a limb here and hypothesize that Trump spent more time thinking up a story to explain his ramp and water challenges than he's ever devoted to addressing the country's coronavirus pandemic.

by Anonymousreply 274June 21, 2020 11:56 AM

The air is rapidly decreasing in this balloon.

Trump can't even be called "rightwing" because he's not bright enough to hold and defend opinions. Whilst things went well, he could get away with it. But the moment crises arose, Trump goes to pieces because although he wants to be Putin, he isn't. That's not to defend Putin, just to point out that Putin really IS the strongman Trump envisions himself as. But despite what people like to spout, America isn't Russia, where strongmen are the norm, not the exception, and civil and governmental structures support the type.

But with COVID and an economic disaster, Trump has no resources to call on, and his inability to cope with crisis and failure become so glaringly obvious that except for the clinically delusional faction of his base, even his broader base is melting away.

It really is a case of the Emperor's New Clothes.

There's no "there" there. And now, it shows.

Local news throws shade so much better than cable. They posted the quote, and nothing else. I shut down the United States to very heavily infected but all people from China in late January which is months earlier than other people would have done it, if they would have done it at all. I saved hundreds of thousands of lives. We don’t ever even get a mention. Then I closed it down to Europe early. Closed it down because I saw what was happening and, by the way, most people were saying, 'don’t do it, don’t do it!' We saved hundreds of thousands of lives and all we do is get hit on like we’re terrible. And what we’ve done with the ventilators and with the medical equipment and with testing. You know, testing is a double-edged sword. We’ve tested now 25 million people. It’s probably 20 million people more than anybody else. Germany’s done a lot. South Korea’s done a lot. They called me, they said the job you’re doing, here’s the bad part, when you test, when you do testing to that extent, you’re going to find more people, you’re going to find more cases. So I said to my people, ‘Slow the testing down, please!’ They test and they test, we had tested people who don’t know what’s going on. We got tests, we got another one over here! The young man is 10 years old, he’s got the sniffles. He’ll recover in about 15 minutes. That’s a case! Add up to it. That’s a case." -President Donald Trump

by Anonymousreply 291June 21, 2020 12:50 PM

R287, Kellyanne actually is the logical person, didn’t she used to advise campaigns back in the day when she was partially sane and her husband could still look her in the eye? But maybe that’s even a bridge too far for her. She knows he’s going to lose, and it would finish the marriage, if she cares. She might.

The public persona we see might not be the real Kellyanne. The real Kellyanne is going to be looking for a job in November. Remember, her twitter handle is @KellyannePolls. Which implies she can read a poll.

by Anonymousreply 292June 21, 2020 12:50 PM

AZ is a lot more blue than OK these days and we have had skyrocketing Covid-19 cases. Besides that, it will probably be 112 degrees here. Who's going to want to wait outside in that heat? If he has any sense at all, he'll cancel. That's a big "if," though.

r159, true, rescheduling at the last minute was a typical Trumpian act of cowardice and lack of conviction. There's a lot of joy on here, but also a lot of "Well that does it: Trump's campaign is dead." Just reminding you how many people said that in 2016, on how many occasions.

Even if the Deplorables get tired of being made fun of by liberals (and bored to death by Trump) and stop going to his rallies, that doesn't mean they won't get angry on his behalf and/or with all the Democrat crowing and still vote for him. It just means they might go invisible before the ballot and then jump out and surprise us.

Also remember that BLM can't work if the Deplorables are not eventually engaged. If the Democrats do win resoundingly and they all slink back to their holes they'll just keep worshipping the Confederacy, and we now know there are too many of them for that to be part of a BLM success story.

by Anonymousreply 305June 21, 2020 1:56 PM

New wave of cases in FL, TX, OK

West Point Ramp Stumble/Double Fisted Water Drinking

And now the bust of a rally

The people you saw in the arena are his base.

But more than that, they follow Trump around like Deadheads, attending a dozen or more rallies.

The base is shrinking.

And failure only makes Trump more erratic.

by Anonymousreply 333June 21, 2020 4:13 PM

He's in a death spiral.

All Biden has to do is show up at the end of August for the convention, name a VP and carry the momentum for about 8 to 10 weeks.

Biden's Jimmy Stewart vibe is the perfect antidote to Trump.

He doesn't need to say a lot, just talk about healing rather than dividing, bringing people together.

Older blue collar voters know that Joe i s one of them. and that he gets them, that he's had a lot of sorrow in his like and come out okay.

Trump will whine and rant like a spoiled toddler and he'll up the ante on the lies, just like Goebbels did as the Russians were advancing in the East and the Allies had landed in Normandy.

But people will see through that.

At least most people.

Biden will win in a landslide and the GOP is in real danger of losing the Senate

The Phoenix rally will be a disaster too.

People will keep tuning in to see what new #FAIL is befalling Trump.

Exactly like the Covid press conferences.

Biden will be coached to say something to the effect of "Really? 120K people are dead, the economy is in a shambles and you think the way to solve it is to spend your time coming up with nasty little nicknames for people who disagree with you? I'm not surprised though, You haven't accomplished a thing you promised your base. Even your hand-picked Supreme Court judges won't support you. The American people deserve better than you Donald Trump...."

Etc. and so on.

by Anonymousreply 339June 21, 2020 4:29 PM

R330 Good summary. And it's way too early to take a victory lap, and the Resistance, that great Coalition of Americans from leftwing socialists to conservative Never Trumpers, must work even harder, raise more money, fight to keep elections open and prevent voter suppression. The Trump Gang will, in fact, get really dirty and corrupt, will do everything to win, break any law, tell any lie. The appeal to the dark racist core of the country will get even more evil. But one comforting truth is that most of the events on your list are the results of his and his henchmen's gaffes. The greatest problem they have is that....on, Trump.... he's out of control and will continue make a mess.

BUT ALL THIS ONLY MEANS WE NEED TO WORK HARDER TO MAKE A CHANGE IN NOVEMBER.

Brad Parscale denies he was hoodwinked by teens:

Leftists and online trolls doing a victory lap, thinking they somehow impacted rally attendance, don’t know what they’re talking about or how our rallies work.

Reporters who wrote gleefully about TikTok and K-Pop fans – without contacting the campaign for comment – behaved unprofessionally and were willing dupes to the charade.

The fact is that a week’s worth of the fake news media warning people away from the rally because of COVID and protestors, coupled with recent images of American cities on fire, had a real impact on people bringing their families and children to the rally.

by Anonymousreply 347June 21, 2020 4:36 PM

Parscale's "explanation":

by Anonymousreply 348June 21, 2020 4:38 PM

Something else to think about: while Hillary Stans can't stand Maggie Haberman, she rarely pulls front page stories out of thin air and she's been going on about how Trump's people have been saying they think he really doesn't want a second term, is purposely self-sabotaging and they don't know how to get him re-involved.

While this rally was supposed to do it, clearly it did not.

by Anonymousreply 349June 21, 2020 4:39 PM

by Anonymousreply 351June 21, 2020 4:42 PM

Brad Parscale is so pathetic. Claimed Antifa and Leftists were keeping Dump supporters from entering the venue. 1000s of people apparently. Haha. He even posted some very fake pictures and a pic from before people were entering and claimed it showed a huge outdoor crowd when in fact people had their backs to the stage.

They must be really desperate that they have to come up with these ridiculous lies.

by Anonymousreply 352June 21, 2020 4:44 PM

R354: AND the protection.

by Anonymousreply 356June 21, 2020 4:49 PM

The police counted 150 counter-protesters. They must have been superhuman to keep 13,000 people out of the stadium and 80,000 out of the overflow area (their projections).

The mockery and humiliation trollback campaign is working well. People need to keep it up to high throttle because it's obviously triggering him and demoralizing the deploratards. Plus it lifts our spirits! 🖤

by Anonymousreply 357June 21, 2020 4:50 PM

It’s more complicated than that, r353. On the one hand he doesn’t want to be a “loser” and he loves the adoration of the hillbillies he’s hoodwinked into supporting him so dreads losing and not having such easy access to all that.

But more importantly he hates so much about being president — just read how he reacted when it became clear that an incredible upset had occurred and he’d won. It was like someone had just died.

He’s a narcissist and wants everyone to worship him but everyone loathes him except a bunch of unwashed trash. He can’t do anything without it being picked apart. He actually has to work occasionally. He can’t stand it.

Just because Trump is in freefall doesn't mean he still won't win the election. The GOP is resorting to dirty underhanded tricks like closing polling stations, purging voter rolls, providing faulty equipment to non-white districts, etc. Anything they can do to rig this thing. We all saw what happened in Georgia a couple weeks ago. And now the word coming out of Kentucky is similar. They've closed hundreds of poling stations, especially in Black districts. There's one district that only has 1 polling station for 600,000 people.

If you all remember Graydon Carter and Spy called Trump a "short fingered vulgarian" back in the 80s

Trump has spent that past 35 years sending Carter tear sheets from magazines where his hands are visible with the hands outlined in gold sharpies in an attempt to prove that he does not actually have short fingers.

Like it literally says "See! Normal sized fingers"

Part 2 of that is how traumatized he got when Rubio brought up "tiny hands"

So if you think this is the last we've heard of the West Point ramp...

^^In Trump’s speech last night, Trump also emphasized that he was wearing “leather-bottom shoes.” First of all, the word is leather “soles.” Secondly, Trump showed us the bottom of his soles, they were all scuffed, so they weren’t new shows. The ramp was only at a very mild 11 degrees. It was not like an ice-skating rink. Trump said there was no hand railing. If needed, he could have simply held the wall of the ramp that was about waist/abdomen high. He didn’t. He simply couldn’t maneuver an 11-degree ramp.

Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Brad Parscale, has come under pressure after claiming that hundreds of thousands of people had applied for tickets to Saturday’s rally in Tulsa, only for the event to then attract underwhelming crowds.

The Tulsa Fire Department said 6,200 people attended Saturday’s rally, and vast banks of seats were empty as the president took the stage to give his first public campaign speech since the Covid-19 pandemic put large parts of America under lockdown. The BOK Center, where the rally took place, has a capacity of up to 19,000. The Trump campaign claims 12,000 people attended the rally.

CNN reported on Sunday that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are “pissed” that Parscale promised huge crowds for the event.

Parscale on Sunday blamed the low attendance on “a week’s worth of the fake news media warning people away from the rally because of Covid and protestors, coupled with recent images of American cities on fire, had a real impact on people bringing their families and children to the rally.”

Parscale then appeared to threaten to rescind accreditation for journalists critical of the Trump campaign. “For the media to now celebrate the fear that they helped create is disgusting, but typical,” he said. “And it makes us wonder why we bother credentialing media for events when they don’t do their full jobs as professionals”.

Rick Wilson, an author, former Republican consultant and Lincoln Project co-founder, was critical of Parscale’s approach. “Brad broke the first rule of American politics: under promise and over deliver,” he told the Guardian in an email. “Brad’s survival now depends on the good offices of his patrons inside the Trump camp, and [Ivanka and Jared Kushner] are already signaling their displeasure to the media.”

There is speculation that the number of applicants to Saturday’s rally was inflated by young users on social media platform TikTok applying for tickets and then deliberately not attending.

“Trump has been actively trying to disenfranchise millions of Americans in so many ways, and to me, this was the protest I was able to perform,” Erin Hoffman, an 18-year-old New Yorker, told the New York Times.

The Trump campaign said protesters had blocked entrances and metal detectors, preventing people from entering the rally. However, reporters on the ground, including the Guardian’s Oliver Laughland, said they saw no evidence of such tactics.

Public health officials had warned against holding a large indoor gathering as Covid-19 cases in Oklahoma rise. The Trump campaign did not require attendees on Saturday to wear masks, and some speculated fear of Covid-19 may have stopped some supporters from attending the rally.

by Anonymousreply 403June 21, 2020 7:47 PM

People are reserving tickets to Trump’s Tulsa rally to leave empty seats. It probably won’t work

"That is the silliest idea I’ve ever heard," said Bob Jack, chairman of the Tulsa County Republican Party.

The Trump campaign website says rally goers can request up to two tickets per phone number and that tickets are first-come, first-served. Doors will open four hours before the event.

The efforts by anti-Trump social media users to leave him with an empty arena aren’t likely to work. Even if roughly 98% of the 1 million people who registered to attend plan on skipping the event, there would still be enough people to fill the BOK Center to its 19,000-person capacity.

"Let’s say half of the people are fake tickets," Jack said. "We’re still good."

by Anonymousreply 426June 21, 2020 8:33 PM

Here's a much better explanation of the effect the Tik Tok teens had on Trump's data collection. In short, the campaign spent a lot of money organizing the Tulsa rally, to get those golden names and emails for future fundraising and now they have to either dump the data or spend a lot of hours trying to fine tune it and weed out the fake names and Google Voice numbers. Bwahaha.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 427June 21, 2020 8:34 PM

The TikTok Teens won for a reason in addition to R427’s explanation: people now believe they screwed up tRump’s little party. Whether they did or not is rather irrelevant at this point. The narrative is that the purportedly might MAGA folks were undone by a bunch of teens and KPop fans with iPhones. They look foolish.

But, let’s say for the sake of argument that teens had no effect on attendance. Well, that’s even worse for tRump. That means that TikTok aside, no one wanted to hear him drone on about drinking water, ramps, and leather soles.

He’s done. Toto has pulled aside the curtain, and this fat, foolish fraud has been exposed for the barking carnival clown he has always been.

by Anonymousreply 431June 21, 2020 9:20 PM

The thing that struck me is how bored, offended and/or puzzled the audience looked. There wasn't the mass presence to ignite party atmosphere and so they were actually stuck listening to him drone on about being able to drink water from a glass all by himself.

I'm not expecting these people to start singing "Amazing Grace" and donating to the NAACP, but I am willing to bet that at least some of them drove home deeply disappointed - and when Trump hosts another rally will stay home to watch Tig Ol' Bitties XII on the VCR (midway through there's a cameo from Ma!).

Oh brother. As if Jared or Ivanka could do any better. People stayed away because of Covid-19. It’s great if teenagers signed up for tickets, but even without that, there wasn’t great interest in attending a crowded event where you could catch Covid-19 and die.

by Anonymousreply 433June 21, 2020 9:30 PM

I was thinking about that, R432. As I was watching along here, someone posted an Air Force One departure time that was much sooner than he actually left. Granted, I think he arrived late, but I wonder if the original plan wasn't for them to rile up the overflow crowd, then sweep into the stadium for a rousing pep rally, and then turn 30,000-50,000 hyped up MAGAs out into the streets to create their own merriment.

The problem is that there was only one speech, and a pitiful turnout at that. With not even 200 protestors. So, he droned on and on and made it a pity party so they got their "money's worth" since they weren't able to go on a destructive wilding as planned.

by Anonymousreply 434June 21, 2020 9:36 PM

[quote]The fact is that a week’s worth of the fake news media warning people away from the rally because of COVID and protestors, coupled with recent images of American cities on fire, had a real impact on people bringing their families and children to the rally.

Well then, Brad... now the MAGAts are wiser for this and we'll see people hanging off the rafters by the hundreds of thousands at the next rally to own the libs. Right, Brad? Now that everyone knows the truth, we should expect an actual million MAGAts at the next one, because they'll know about all of the trolling. Right...Brad?

I especially like him acting like Covid hasn't been known about for months and THEY decided to put on a show with thousands of people during a pandemic. Sports events and concerts are postponed...but yeah, let's blame liberals for you being an idiot by putting on a show for your fragile asshole boss who needs constant validation. Guess what, shithead: Even some deplorables aren't stupid enough to go into an enclosed space with thousands of people during a global pandemic. That one's on you, dumbass.

by Anonymousreply 437June 21, 2020 9:41 PM

There's another aspect to this. The people who showed up were die-hard, foolhardy (if not stupid) and his most cult-like. In other words, scumbags.

The optics for this are not good. When they panned crowds at a Dubya convention, the audience looked like the full sweep of social classes, not just the ones throwing up blood in the parking lot outside the strip club. There's no way for Trump's camp to show these people to his Mar-a-Lago cronies and pretend they're a fan club worth being proud about. And Mr. & Mrs. Silent Majority, who probably do bathe and attend church and mow the front lawn and have paying jobs of some sort are not going to wish to be associated with the biker gang they told their little girls to stay clear away from, do you hear me Mary-Sue and Ellen-Louise? Stay away from those varmints with tattoos! Cheap white trash!

It reminds me of Mississippi Burning when the group of Klansmen meet in a church not knowing who called the meeting and they're all confused as to who called it (FBI had set them up). Trump 'furious' about 'underwhelming' crowd at Tulsa rally

"This was a major failure," one outside adviser said.

June 21, 2020, 1:38 PM CDT

By Monica Alba, Kristen Welker and Carol E. Lee

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is "furious" at the "underwhelming" crowd at his rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Saturday evening, a major disappointment for what had been expected to be a raucous return to the campaign trail after three months off because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to multiple people close to the White House.

The president was fuming at his top political aides Saturday even before the rally began after his campaign revealed that six members of the advance team on the ground in Tulsa had tested positive for COVID-19, including Secret Service personnel, a person familiar with the discussions said.

Trump asked those around him why the information was exposed and expressed annoyance that the coverage ahead of his mega-rally was dominated by the revelation.

While the Trump re-election effort boasted that it would fill BOK Center, which seats more than 19,000 people, only 6,200 supporters ultimately occupied the general admission sections, the Tulsa fire marshal told NBC News.

The campaign was so confident about a high turnout that it set up an overflow area, which it had expected to attract thousands. But the plan was scrapped at the last minute when only dozens gathered at the time the vice president and the president were set to address the crowd inside.

"It's politics 101: You under-promise and overdeliver," a Trump ally said, conceding the missteps the Trump 2020 team took in the lead-up to the event by saying nearly 1 million people had responded to requests for admission.

Much of the blame is falling on campaign manager Brad Parscale, who in the days leading up the event aggressively touted the number of registrations, but those close to him stress that his job is safe, for now.

Last month, after dismal polling revealed that the president is trailing the presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden, in key battleground states that Trump won in 2016, Parscale was reprimanded and a deputy was brought in to help steer the ship.

There are growing concerns among Trump campaign officials that neither the president nor the 2020 team have a coherent message for why he should serve a second term. Saturday evening's meandering, nearly two-hour rally speech is the latest evidence of a lack of a targeted strategy to attack Biden with less than five months to go until the general election.

Many issues could have contributed to the poor attendance in Tulsa: a fear of contracting the virus, concern over potential protests and torrential thunderstorms in 95-degree heat. But outside advisers see the visuals of empty seats overshadowing Trump's remarks as a significant problem for a president and a campaign that are obsessed with optics.

"This was a major failure," one outside adviser said.

Trump camp rejects claims of rally-ticket sabotage online, says this is what's to blame

Trump campaign rejects claims that TikTok, K-Pop fans sabotaged rally: 'Don't know what they're talking about' (Well.... Problem #1)

After top Democrats gloated that teenage activists had sabotaged turnout at President Trump’s Tulsa, Okla., rally on Saturday, the Trump campaign fired back within hours, saying that media organizations are complicit in spreading false narratives about the event -- and that protesters and the coronavirus were the real culprits.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., specifically asserted that teenagers allegedly reserved scores of tickets for the Tulsa event online – then failed to show up, thus preventing others from being able to attend. "Actually you just got ROCKED by teens on TikTok,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote to Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, referring to a popular Chinese video-sharing social media application.

A spokesperson for the Tulsa Fire Department told Fox News on Sunday that fire marshal records show just under 6,200 scanned tickets were logged for the rally at the BOK Center. The figure doesn't include Trump team staff members or private suites, which were fully booked. The president and his campaign had touted 1 million ticket requests; the arena's capacity is 19,000.

Parscale, on Sunday, countered by explaining the campaign's process for screening out false ticket requests, which was implemented after activists made similar efforts to derail previous rallies.

“Leftists and online trolls doing a victory lap, thinking they somehow impacted rally attendance, don’t know what they’re talking about or how our rallies work," Parscale said. "Reporters who wrote gleefully about TikTok and K-Pop [Korean pop music] fans -- without contacting the campaign for comment -- behaved unprofessionally and were willing dupes to the charade."

Parscale continued: "Registering for a rally means you’ve RSVPed with a cellphone number and we constantly weed out bogus numbers, as we did with tens of thousands at the Tulsa rally, in calculating our possible attendee pool. These phony ticket requests never factor into our thinking. What makes this lame attempt at hacking our events even more foolish is the fact that every rally is general admission -- entry is on a first-come-first-served basis and prior registration is not required."

The real reason for the unusually depressed turnout was apparent, the campaign said.

"The fact is that a week’s worth of the fake news media warning people away from the rally because of COVID and protesters, coupled with recent images of American cities on fire, had a real impact on people bringing their families and children to the rally," Parscale said. "MSNBC was among outlets reporting that protesters even blocked entrances to the rally at times. For the media to now celebrate the fear that they helped create is disgusting, but typical. And it makes us wonder why we bother credentialing media for events when they don’t do their full jobs as professionals.”

Some commentators noted that, if Ocasio-Cortez's claims about TikTok were true, they would represent unprecedented foreign-based election interference that Democrats would ordinarily claim to oppose. TikTok is owned by the Beijing-based technology company ByteDance.

"One of the tactics used by Russia to meddle was the use of social media to manipulate public perception," wrote Tim Pool. "This is a Chinese app facilitating the largest most impactful election meddling we have seen yet, assuming its true How much of Trump's campaign was flooded with bunk data?"

by Anonymousreply 461June 21, 2020 11:25 PM

Despite media reports, including a heavily opinionated piece at The New York Times, there is no clear evidence that social media users affected the rally.

"The article doesn’t even provide any evidence, it just says a bunch of teenagers said they ruined the rally and the reporter/editors at the Times took their word for it," said The Washington Examiner's Joe Gabriel Simonson, referring to the Times' front-page piece on the rally. "Diminishing standards."

The Times article, co-written by anti-Trump author Maggie Haberman, goes on to bizarrely state that it is "false" for Trump blame "left-wing radicals” for "rioting in cities across the country."

Readily available video evidence shows left-wing activists tearing down statues in several cities and even demolishing police stations and establishing a deteriorating autonomous zone in Seattle.

The Times' piece, which resembles an editorial at several points, further incorrectly states that Trump was attacking "attempts to remove Confederate monuments" through legal and political means that enjoy some bipartisan support.

Meanwhile, more neutral observers offered their own assessments of the rally.

"The campaign made a strategic mistake holding a rally in a venue this big in a state with a smaller population when you have to overcome attendance issues due to a pandemic," observed journalist Yashar Ali. "He should have held this rally in a state where he had a bigger pool of supporters to pull from." Ali also faulted the Trump campaign for saying attendance would be massive.

"Think about it," he wrote. "If you intend to go to a rally for a candidate of your choice but you keep hearing that 800,000 people have reserved tickets (forget that many were fake reservations - that news didn't reach most people), would you still want to go? 800,000 for 19,000 capacity?"

Indeed, some Trump supporters told Fox News that news reports of expected high turnout had discouraged them from attending.

"I tried all week to get tickets to the Trump Rally and could’t get the campaign to respond to my applications. I lived within minutes of Tulsa," Jackie York of Okemah, Okla., told Fox News via email. "When they started showing evening news clips showing people camping outside for rally, I decided not to fight the 'hundreds of thousands' of people I assumed would be fighting to go in. We had no tickets. My pastor also wanted to go, but couldn’t get tickets online. We are sad today to have missed [the] opportunity."

Another Trump supporter told Fox News that she and others could not enter the rally due to issues with temperature-checkers leaving prematurely, although Fox News has not verified that claim.

Tim Murtaugh, a Trump 2020 campaign spokesman, reiterated Parscale's claim of protester interference, noting that large groups had gathered outside the arena and created a threatening atmosphere.

TV images showed much of the upper tier of Tulsa's BOK Center remained empty during the rally, with other space visible in the lower seating areas as well.

Ocasio-Cortez claimed that teens “flooded the Trump campaign w/ fake ticket reservations & tricked you into believing a million people wanted your white supremacist open mic enough to pack an arena during COVID."

“Shout out to Zoomers. Y’all make me so proud,” Ocasio-Cortez added.

In a separate message, Ocasio-Cortez thanked “KPop allies,” a term referring to fans of Korean pop music.

“KPop allies, we see and appreciate your contributions in the fight for justice too,” the congresswoman wrote.

An Iowa woman posted a video on TikTok last week, encouraging people to participate in the alleged scam, CNN reported.

“All of those of us that want to see this 19,000 seat auditorium barely filled or completely empty go reserve tickets now and leave him standing alone there on the stage,” the woman, identified as Mary Jo Laupp, told her TikTok followers.

Thousands of other TikTok users posted similar messages as the plan spread online, The New York Times reported.

Out of one million projected attendees, only 0.62% showed up.

by Anonymousreply 463June 21, 2020 11:31 PM

“It spread mostly through Alt TikTok -- we kept it on the quiet side where people do pranks and a lot of activism,” YouTuber Elijah Daniel, 26, told the Times. “K-pop Twitter and Alt TikTok have a good alliance where they spread information amongst each other very quickly. They all know the algorithms and how they can boost videos to get where they want.”

Many of those participating in the alleged scam deleted their posts after 24 to 48 hours in a bid to limit word of the plan from spreading on mainstream social media, a New York Times report said.

“These kids are smart and they thought of everything,” Daniel told the paper.

KPop activists were previously linked to campaigns to raise money for Black Lives Matter, fight racist hashtags on Twitter and disrupt the eyewitness app of the Dallas Police Department, Vulture.com reported.

Fox News' Casey Stegall and Dom Calicchio contributed to this report.

K-pop fans, TikTok users are taking credit for Trump’s low turnout in Tulsa

Thousands reportedly registered for tickets, with no plans of showing up. Trump campaign says that claim is unfounded.

K-pop fans and TikTok users may have had something to do with Trump’s underwhelming turnout at his Tulsa rally on Saturday, the New York Times reports.

Late last month, K-pop fans took credit for temporarily crashing the Dallas Police Department’s iWatch Dallas app in support of Black Lives Matter protesters. Now, teamed up with TikTok users, fans of Korean pop music groups such as boy band BTS, who tweet billions of times a year, are saying they pulled a similar prank on Trump by registering for hundreds of thousands of free tickets to Trump’s rally on Saturday, with no plans of showing up.

A huge turnout was expected, with outdoor events planned for a crowd too large for BOK Center, which holds 19,000. But images from the rally show that the venue was far below capacity and the Tulsa Fire Department says the fire marshal counted just 6,200 attendees.

All of the outdoor events were canceled and a spokesman from the Trump campaign claimed that protesters stopped many from entering the rally. But reporters at the rally said that few protesters were present.

According to the New York Times, the prank began after the Trump campaign sent a tweet on June 11 asking supporters to register for free tickets using their phones. K-pop fans began sharing the information with their followers, encouraging them to register and then not show.

On Sunday, Politico reported that President Trump’s reelection campaign manager, Brad Parscale, denied the report of a ticket hack by teens on social media. “Leftists and online trolls doing a victory lap, thinking they somehow impacted rally attendance, don’t know what they’re talking about or how our rallies work,” Parscale said in a statement.

Yes - extremely informative documentary about how the 13th Amendment explicitly states slavery is still in effect for the incarcerated, which lead to laws such as it being a felony to walk along railroad tracks, to not have a home or job, etc.

Guess who was then arrested by the thousands, by whites? Black men.

I bet the WV opera drew queens from at least 5 states! I bet it was great.

Let's face it, this has been the best week of the his presidency. I'm giddy over the fact that his minions are proving to be such cowards, as many predicted, and that a large majority of Americans have seen the truth play out on live TV, the poll numbers back it up everywhere. He can't argue with his own data. The lies, conspiracies and childish names have gotten BORING, his attacks on journalists are PATHETIC and WEAK! He's a LOW ENERGY, LOSER and now he knows that everyone HATES him. He's become his own worst nightmare. Did you see the look in his eyes during Don Jr.s analingus speech? Even Trump realized how pathetic it looked to have your son say Bin Laden loves Joe Biden. It was GLORIOUS. Now with the niece's book and the HBO Roy Cohn story, which most people don't know anything about, it's going to be a great summer.

I guess the Repugs know that they have to help him sabotage the election, create chaos on voting day, disallow as many democratic voters as possible and hope that the 200 federal judges they installed do their bidding. I wish RGB would move to a safe house until November or the deal will be complete.

by Anonymousreply 514June 22, 2020 3:50 AM

Trump will never give a concession speech. And he'll refuse to vacate the White House. The Secret Service will have to recruit a special squad of White Coat Warriors to cart him away in an XXXL straight jacket.

by Anonymousreply 529June 22, 2020 4:48 AM

A guy on twitter was estimating that the real number of attendees must be much lower.

He said there must have been paid actors (because of the local ads asking for actors to attend), staffers, plainclothes security, Secret Service, etc. The number of security personnel hired was for a much larger crowd, so it could be much larger than expected. Plus the construction workers that put up and knocked down the stages, staff that handled the lights, microphones, concession stand workers, etc. The fire department estimated by the number of people that went through the turnstile, although I read some huffy tweet somewhere of some staffer claiming (Trump) staff wasn’t counted. But that’s not everyone of course. Union workers, subcontractors etc.

If you figure they thought they would need much more security than they actually did need, it could be a really large number. He estimated the actual audience as less than half of the number reported.

Which makes sense if you figure they thought they were going to sell drinks to 20,000 people plus outdoor overflow. The vendors must be really disappointed. And may have overspent in this terrible economy to supply the “crowd.”

by Anonymousreply 530June 22, 2020 4:51 AM

From the sound of it, security probably outnumbered attendees. I would've gone if I was assigned my own hunky SS agent to watch me!

by Anonymousreply 531June 22, 2020 4:53 AM

I'm sure you kid. There will be no concession speech from Trump. He will claim until the day he dies that the election was a total fraud and his reelection was stolen from him & he will not lower himself to concede to a fraudulently elected POTUS.

I do hope the national archives has a very up to date inventory of every object inside the White House. Otherwise when that den of thieves and their minions leave there will be no telling how much they'll steal, especially whatever staff is left in the left wing. Nancy Reagan stole many couture gowns that had been given to her by designers and when she was told she would have to pay for them she couldn't believe it. Republicans can't be trusted. They're genetically predisposed to thievery.

They places a bunch of PoCs near the Senate and House dignitaries...and by dignitaries I mean asswipes.

by Anonymousreply 553June 22, 2020 4:19 PM

R548, a lot of us have been saying it for years what he has expressed...and for a long time, we got ridiculous responses from enablers who tried to deny it.

The Republican party had several, far more qualified candidates running (all still repulsive, but at least capable and with an understanding of governance). They gravitated to a despicable, ignorant, corrupt, lecherous, stupid, vile pos handed everything in life (incl. his place at Wharton) and allowed to fail upward, *solely* because he was a racist and bigot - that was the moment he became the front-runner. He proposed no real policies beyond hate and scapegoating and that party of racist trash ate it up. And not just Trump. Look at Palin. Look at Roy Moore who would've won had black voters not come out to defeat him. Millions of white voters are basically saying: It doesn't matter how disgusting or embarrassingly inept you are, as long you try to maintain our supremacy. We don't care how gross or stupid you are. This should make you question anyone who goes off about "affirmative action" when this is the type of garbage they elevate to higher office. And let's not forget Dubya. Gets into Yale with a C average. Gets into HBS with undoubtedly mediocre grades. Look at Kushner whose own HS was shocked he got into Harvard along with his brother. We have a history of elevating white, unqualified men (and women like Palin) to positions they never deserved.

The fact alone that they try to paint Trump as a "real American" unlike Obama, should be enough to tell you what racist fucks they are because here's the thing: They both have a foreign born parent (and Trump's mother had a questionable immigration status like his wife), but the difference? Obama's American side has been here LONGER. Obama is the one whose family actually had to live paycheck-to-paycheck.. Obama is the one who actually had to earn what he has in life. Obama is the one who actually tried to govern based on A m e r i c a n principles while we now have a wannabe dictator who wouldn't know the constitution even if James Madison smacked him across the face with a copy.

The LBJ quote is all you need to know about this country and much of the white population: ““If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”

by Anonymousreply 557June 22, 2020 4:25 PM

[quote]I love my country. I believe everyone is equal. I believe in the rule of law. I don’t believe in racism or hate, which is why I can’t support a party rooted in racism

I could read this two ways. R557. But, I'm leaning more towards her (or, him) using that popular talking point; "Well, it was the Democrats the founded the KKK." Now... we all know (at least we should know) the history of this whatever. Anyway, I've reached the point now that I trust no one who voted for Trump or that's still a Republican. by Anonymousreply 566June 22, 2020 6:26 PM

by Anonymousreply 571June 22, 2020 6:58 PM

by Anonymousreply 572June 22, 2020 6:59 PM

I’ve NEVER watched a rally before this one, and the reason I tuned in was because I’d seen online that it was turning into an epic disaster. I watched on MSNBC, because I didn’t want to actually see his speech, I just wanted to hear about the mess of a rally.

by Anonymousreply 578June 22, 2020 7:06 PM

It goes even beyond that, R572. The Conservativesphere, led by the likes of Candace Owens is pushing a narrative that Democrats are actively and intentionally making Black America weak and dependent.

Whereas one party (GOP) wants everyone to work hard and have fair opportunities, the other party panders and divides the country by race for their objective of buying up the various demographics with special interest pork so they can coalesce power.

by Anonymousreply 579June 22, 2020 7:08 PM
