Full of monuments to Confederate soldiers.

Gettysburg is majorly haunted, so I wouldn't fuck with it.

Truly. Pitched a tent on a field there and was visited all night long in my dreams by 19th century people.

Bumping hoping for ghost stories.

No, R3, you're a Russian bot trolling bumping to incite racist posts and racist arguments.

Surely that's one place where monuments to both sides are appropriate: they are In Memoriam for dead young men.
You'd be hard pressed to construct a monument in Gettysburg that could inspire admiration for the Confederacy. Pickett's Charge, ordered by Confederate icon Robert E. Lee, was one of the stupidest moves ever made on a battlefield, and it's true the whole place feels haunted following the resulting massacre.

I had the rare experience of being there when it was mostly deserted. We got up before were there at sunrise. It was a very profound and eerie experience. You can feel the place in your bones.

Can you sleep there overnight?

All these people tearing down monuments, even if the monuments are awful and dedicated to horrible people, are going to invite some bad juju on to themselves. Be it karma or something more paranormal. You don't fuck with the final resting places of the dead, but you ESPECIALLY don't fuck with resting places like Gettysburg. It's like they're begging for a curse or a haunting or something even worse.
