Which gay, lesbian, or bisexual actors and singers are A-listers according to their net worth?

To define A-lister, I adopted as sole criterion having a net worth above 50 million dollars. To define A-lister, I adopted the criterion of having a net worth above 50 million dollars. By that criterion, it seems to me that there are only 3 gay celebrities who can be considered A-listers:

- Ricky Martin: $ 120 million dollars

- Kristen Stewart: $ 70 million dollars

- Ian McKellen: $ 50 million dollars

Ellen Degeneres would be at the top of this list if she still had a career as an actress, but since all of her work is now as a TV host, she wasn't included.

Just out of curiosity, here's the net worth of some other prominent LGB celebrities:

- Sam Smith: $ 37 million dollars

- Cara Delevigne: $ 28 million

- Kevin McHale: $ 16 million

- Ellen Page: $ 14 million

- Frank Ocean: $ 13 million

- Amber Heard: $ 9 million

- Richard Madden: $ 6 million

The ones above I consider B-listers.

Ian McKellen is worth $ 55 million dollars, not 50 million, sorry.

by Anonymousreply 1June 20, 2020 5:15 AM

Neil Patrick Harris?

by Anonymousreply 2June 20, 2020 5:20 AM

Ricky Martin was a singer, not an actor. There are other very wealthy gay singers.

by Anonymousreply 3June 20, 2020 5:22 AM

- Richard Madden: $ 6 million + Froy's burrito

by Anonymousreply 4June 20, 2020 5:24 AM

Elton John, George Michael, Prince etc

by Anonymousreply 5June 20, 2020 5:25 AM

r2 Oh, I'd forgotten about him. He's worth $ 40 million dollars, so a B+ lister according to my criterion - which now seems to be a bit stringent to me.

r3 As said in the title, the list is for actors AND singers.

by Anonymousreply 6June 20, 2020 5:25 AM

So R6, what about Elton John? You’re just making shit up.

by Anonymousreply 7June 20, 2020 5:28 AM

r3 Ricky was and is an actor too

by Anonymousreply 8June 20, 2020 5:28 AM

Lady Gaga, Boy George, David Bowie, Miley Cyrus...there are tons of LGBTQ+ singers.

by Anonymousreply 9June 20, 2020 5:30 AM

r7 I forgot about him. 🤷‍♂️ My list isn't supposed to be exhaustive, which is why the title - "which gay actors and singers are A-listers?" - is framed as a question. Because I knew there would be more.

by Anonymousreply 10June 20, 2020 5:30 AM

Lady Gaga: $275 million. Although I don't buy that she's actually bisexual.

by Anonymousreply 11June 20, 2020 5:31 AM

RuPaul

by Anonymousreply 12June 20, 2020 5:32 AM

Rosie O’Donnell’s net worth $120M

by Anonymousreply 13June 20, 2020 5:33 AM

Updated list:

- Lady Gaga: $ 275 million

- Miley Cyrus: $ 160 million

- Ricky Martin: $ 120 million

- Rosie O’Donnell: $120M

- Kristen Stewart: $ 70 million

- RuPaul: $ 60 million

- Ian McKellen: $ 55 million

I'm not including dead people.

Also, Kevin Spacey is worth $100 million...

by Anonymousreply 14June 20, 2020 5:38 AM

Elton is the wealthiest so far: $ 500 million.

by Anonymousreply 15June 20, 2020 5:38 AM

Jane Lynch, Jodie Foster, Zachary Quinto, Robin Roberts, Jim Parsons, Raven Symone, Maria Bello, Sarah Paulson, Cynthia Nixon, Adam Lambert, Holland Taylor, Sara Gilbert, Portia de Rossi, Lily Tomlin, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Barry Manilow, George Takei, Sean Hayes...

Ellen has done more acting than Ricky Martin

by Anonymousreply 16June 20, 2020 5:45 AM

Kevin McHale can't be worth 16 million. Just from Glee? Nah.

by Anonymousreply 17June 20, 2020 5:45 AM

Clooney is worth 500M

by Anonymousreply 18June 20, 2020 5:46 AM

What site are you using for net worth? There are a lot of them and they all estimate different amounts

by Anonymousreply 19June 20, 2020 5:46 AM

r19 I just google, "Actor Name Net Worth", and adopt the first result that comes up. 🤷‍♂️

by Anonymousreply 20June 20, 2020 5:47 AM

R20 / OP you’re not into solid methodologies for your analysis are you?

by Anonymousreply 21June 20, 2020 5:51 AM

Fergie, Frank Ocean, Melissa Ethridge

by Anonymousreply 22June 20, 2020 5:52 AM

r16 Only a few of those qualify as A-lister according to our criterion. They're in bold below:

Jane Lynch - 16M

[bold]Jodie Foster - 100M[/bold]

Zachary Quinto - 14M

Robin Roberts - Not an actor or a singer

[bold]Jim Parsons - 100M (!)[/bold]

Maria Bello - 12M

[bold]Raven Symone - $ 55M

Cynthia Nixon - 60M[/bold]

Adam Lambert - 20M

Holland Taylor - 18M

Sara Gilbert - 35M

[bold]Portia de Rossi - 50M [/bold]

Lily Tomlin - 15M

Jesse Tyler Ferguson - 20M

[bold]Barry Manilow - 100M[/bold]

George Takei - 12M (that all?)

Sean Hayes - 18M

by Anonymousreply 23June 20, 2020 5:54 AM

Updated list:

[quote]Fergie, Frank Ocean, Melissa Ethridge

They're all B-listers.

by Anonymousreply 25June 20, 2020 6:01 AM

A-List celebrity isn’t exactly synonymous with wealthiest celebrity. I think it has more to do with influence and presence rather than solely having vast sums of money.

by Anonymousreply 26June 20, 2020 6:02 AM

I’m with R17 - how can Kevin McGale be worth $16 million?1

by Anonymousreply 27June 20, 2020 6:02 AM

See - he’s so inconsequential I can’t even spell his name right.

Now, ALAN HALE (both senior and junior) - them I can spell.

by Anonymousreply 28June 20, 2020 6:04 AM

john travolta 180 miillion

by Anonymousreply 29June 20, 2020 6:07 AM

Dolly would be up there if she were out.

by Anonymousreply 30June 20, 2020 6:07 AM

r29 Closeted people don't count, as they add nothing to LGB visibility.

by Anonymousreply 31June 20, 2020 6:09 AM

The site I looked on had both Neil Patrick Harris and Melissa Ethridge at $50 million

by Anonymousreply 32June 20, 2020 6:13 AM

Pete Townsend: $ 150 million

by Anonymousreply 33June 20, 2020 6:16 AM

Lesbians or I guess women who sleep with women are always in the best comedies.

Portia De Rossi

Jane Lynch

Lily Tomlin

by Anonymousreply 34June 20, 2020 6:19 AM

r32 Yes, I googled it now, and it does show up as $ 50 million for NPH. Maybe I misperceived it before. But Melissa is still at $ 25 million.

Updated list:

- Elton John: $ 500 million

- Lady Gaga: $ 275 million

- Miley Cyrus: $ 160 million

- Pete Townsend: $ 150 million

- Ricky Martin: $ 120 million

- Rosie O’Donnell: $120 million

- Barry Manilow: $ 100 million

- Kevin Spacey: $100 million

- Jim Parsons: $100 million

- Jodie Foster: $100 million

- Kristen Stewart: $ 70 million

- Cynthia Nixon: $ 60 million

- RuPaul: $ 60 million

- Ian McKellen: $ 55 million

- Raven Symone - $ 55 million

- Neil Patrick Harris: $ 50 million

- Portia de Rossi - $ 50 million

by Anonymousreply 35June 20, 2020 6:19 AM

Billie Joe Armstrong: $ 55 million

Mick Jagger is worth $ 360 million, but practically nobody talks about his affairs with men, so I won't include him here.

by Anonymousreply 36June 20, 2020 6:38 AM

I think Jim Parsons has to be worth a lot more than $100M.

He was making over $1M per episode of TBBT for years, and that doesn’t include syndication, his work on Young Sheldon, a bunch of movies, etc.

by Anonymousreply 37June 20, 2020 7:52 AM

Out of curiosity, I googled what T. Chalamet is worth: to my surprise, only $ 6 million; he is in solid B-lister territory, despite his ubiquity in the media.

But it makes sense: he only came to be really known after CMBYN, which was successful as far as expectations go for an independent film, but nothing more. Even today, Chalamet has never been in a very popular production; the closest he got with his movies was "Little Women".

by Anonymousreply 38June 20, 2020 12:20 PM

Do people really think the figures from celebrity networth and shit are real? They are not. Forbes tries to be better at it, but most sites its just some guesstimate that is often very off.

by Anonymousreply 39June 20, 2020 12:26 PM

R9, now everyone is LGBT+, it renders it all meaningless

by Anonymousreply 40June 20, 2020 12:37 PM

R38 he only became known in 2017. Give him time, you are trying to compare him to people like Elton or Ricky who have been around for several years or even several decades.

by Anonymousreply 41June 20, 2020 12:39 PM

R38 besides, Tim is not gay

by Anonymousreply 42June 20, 2020 1:10 PM

r42 Which is why I said I only googled him, "Out of curiosity".

by Anonymousreply 43June 20, 2020 1:16 PM

Gosh, why am I scrambling for voice over work and trying to crib together enough cash for my share of rent when I have so much money?

by Anonymousreply 44June 20, 2020 1:42 PM

Since when is Richard Madden out? And as what?

by Anonymousreply 45June 21, 2020 1:01 AM

R30 Dolly isn't gay.

by Anonymousreply 46June 21, 2020 1:01 AM

Ricky Martin isn't worth anywhere near $120 million. A more reliable site has him at $60 million. His music hasn't been big since the 1990s, and even then he only had one big hit in the US. His music career was over when he came out as gay.

Jim Parsons is worth $160 million.

R38 He never was in a real hit film. He and Lucas Hedges had a lot of recognition becasue they were nominated to awards being very young and are praised for their acting but they didn't have any big commercial success.

Other young actors (Tom Holland is a perfect example) probably have way bigger net worth, but in the long run name recognition can keep you working for years and sometimes blockbusters (specially if they are of the superhero kind) don't translate in the actor being popular when he is not playing that character.

Anway, noone of them is gay so it doesn't matter for this type of list

by Anonymousreply 57July 6, 2020 1:32 PM

I don't think having roommates puts Richard Madden on the list, OP.

by Anonymousreply 58July 6, 2020 2:43 PM

Raven, Cynthia and Portia are not A-List. A-List means you get projects greenlit, and retreads of "That's So Raven" don't count...

by Anonymousreply 59July 6, 2020 2:44 PM

R58 But he loves his roommates (for a short period of time)

If you count gay porn as "acting", and FE certainly is an "A-list" gay.

Those sites estimating a famous persons wealth are full of shit. When Gloria Vanderbilt died everyone had her as being worth $200, 000, 000 upwards, when they released her will, her entire estate including her apartment was worth $800,000!

$60M or $120M, I wouldn't know, but to imply that he's a washed up has-been seems a little off the mark.

Not sure that Ricky Martin needs a hit song in the U.S., like a lot of music acts he has made his money in concerts and established an audience, who, if other acts are any judge, will push out with their walkers and oxygen tanks for as long as he performs. The Rolling Stones had not had a hit in 8 years until they had one this year; Elton John hasn't had a hit since 2003. Yet both mint money with the whisper of a possible tour. Silly as it is he can probably ride "She Bangs" and "Shake Your Bon-Bon" and the catalogue of equally silly songs for a very long time. Taste doesn't grow up with the man as anyone who has ever seen photos from a Grateful Dead concert can attest. Even if his audiences are much smaller than those for the Rolling Stones or Elton John, even if —as you suggest—he has lost audience numbers since coming out a decade ago, he continues to do tours and sell seats (including 100,000 at one concert in Mexico City.) The world doesn't necessarily stop when someone stops having U.S. hits—or confirms that he's gay.

There's like a handful of A- celebrities in the world. And how many of them are LGBT? Why limit the list to just A- celebs? It's bound to be a very short list

by Anonymousreply 71January 3, 2021 4:17 PM

Miss David Geffen could buy and sell them all - he's worth 7.7 Billion.

I'm surprised Lilly is so poor! David should give her a few million.

by Anonymousreply 72January 3, 2021 4:18 PM

Caitlyn Jenner. 100M.

by Anonymousreply 73January 3, 2021 4:19 PM

Caitlyn is a straight man, though.

by Anonymousreply 74January 3, 2021 4:20 PM

R3, Ricky Martin has acted in commercials, Mexican telenovelas, the TV soap opera "General Hospital," on Broadway in "Les Miserables" and "Evita," in music videos, and in the recent miniseries "The Assassination of Gianni Versace."

And he certainly acted for years with Rebecca D'Alba!

by Anonymousreply 75January 3, 2021 4:29 PM

Pia Zadora

by Anonymousreply 76January 3, 2021 4:42 PM

Charlize Theron admitted to being with women. So she's out as bi. As is Gillian Anderson

by Anonymousreply 77January 3, 2021 4:57 PM

Raven seems like a stretch at 50M. I would bet Ryan Murphy would be at the top of the list.

by Anonymousreply 78January 3, 2021 5:01 PM

R65, you're very naive if you think wills and declared estate worths tell the story of wealth. I'm surprised her house as an asset would have been listed separately, but everything else, even among middle-class people with any sense, is nested within trusts where taxes can't get at it in the same way.

Duh.

by Anonymousreply 79January 3, 2021 6:09 PM

I'm the OP, but I'd forgotten about this thread! It would be interesting to see if people have interesting suggestions to add to the list, since many have come out since one year ago.

Ryan is not an actor or a singer, r78, but he's a good addition - directors inhabit the same eco-system as actors after all, so I think it's fair to include them and perhaps some types of producer in the list.

Here's where Ryan would be in the list -- he's in it, but not on top!

- Elton John: $ 500 million

- Ellen DeGeneres: $ 370 million

- Lady Gaga: $ 320 million

- Jim Parsons: $160 million

- Miley Cyrus: $ 160 million

- Pete Townsend: $ 150 million

[bold]- Ryan Murphy: $ 150 million[/bold]

- Ricky Martin: $ 120 million

- Rosie O’Donnell: $120 million

- Barry Manilow: $ 100 million

- Kevin Spacey: $100 million

- Jodie Foster: $100 million

- Billie Joe Armstrong: $ 75 million

- Kristen Stewart: $ 70 million

- Ian McKellen: $ 60 million

- RuPaul: $ 60 million

- Raven Symone: $ 55 million

- Neil Patrick Harris: $ 50 million

- Portia de Rossi: $ 50 million

Some of the values have been updated. So, accordingly, I took Cynthia Nixon off the list, since Google now says she's worth $ 25 million rather than $ 60 million.

by Anonymousreply 80August 6, 2021 4:23 AM

I don't really buy that she's an actress, either.

by Anonymousreply 81August 6, 2021 4:40 AM

by Anonymousreply 83August 6, 2021 4:56 AM

Lana and Lilly Wachowski have a combined net worth of $250 million.
