A Hulu exec feared the show would remain PG-13 forever. The first question she asked them: when are the kids going to have sex? She breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing their answer.
Love Victor Showrunners promise teen sex within first few episodes of season 2, support from Hulu
by Anonymous | reply 439 | July 12, 2021 11:11 AM |
Huh? This show was made for Disney Plus, Disney decided to punt it to Hulu after it was finished.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 17, 2020 12:50 PM |
R2 Supposedly Disney thought the show and it's content may be bit too "mature" for Disney+.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 17, 2020 12:57 PM |
I get that r3. I was just confused because this thread makes it sound as if Hulu was involved with the production, they just inherited a finished project.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 17, 2020 1:00 PM |
Season 1 was made for Disney+. Hulu is involved in the production for season 2, which hasn't started yet.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 17, 2020 1:37 PM |
Well if they're talking about George Sear having sex I can definitely get with that...
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 21, 2020 3:34 AM |
I thinks they’ll need to recast Victor. The actor’s days away from O’ding it seems
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 21, 2020 4:08 AM |
R8 where did you see that?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 21, 2020 4:16 AM |
George Sear is too good for this show. He needs to do something more substantial. Damn. He's 23.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 21, 2020 4:18 AM |
They're already starting to shoot Season 2. So if R8 is right and Victor is days away from OD'ing then they will have to kill him. They can change the Title to Love, George.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 21, 2020 4:22 AM |
They all look 25, nothing wrong with sex scenes involving any of them.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 21, 2020 4:27 AM |
Yes, R12, but their characters are all in High School. This is a TV show taking off from the movie Love, Simon, where we got a chaste kiss on a Ferris Wheel at the very end of the movie. In Season 1 of Love Victor there was more kissing, but I seriously doubt they'll have any real Gay love scenes since both leads are allegedly straight. We're not getting Brokeback Mountain in the tent, baby.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 21, 2020 1:20 PM |
Well, shit.
I guess George got a tat Pretty sure this is definitely not from TV series.
But I sure hope we get to see more pictures of George like this. Damn. He doesn't even have to try. He's hot.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 2, 2021 3:32 AM |
The first question she asked them: when are the kids going to have sex?
That comes off as a bit creepy. Even with the actors being in their 20s.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 2, 2021 3:43 AM |
Well R14 his co-star Michael Cimino has already gotten a few.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 2, 2021 3:52 AM |
Sorry, R16, but Michael doesn't do it for me. I've got a thing for George Sear. I think he's pure sex. Michael is always posing and there is something cloying about him. He has a fake smile George is very natural. I could stare at a close up of his bare chest all damned day.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 2, 2021 3:56 AM |
Here's the thing. We're talking High School. In the first Season, Victor turns 16. So lets assume Benji/George is older. 17? Now he could be 16, too but I think the show frames his as older, at least, in one scene, he admits to being sexually more experienced. The thing is, when you're 16-17 you think about sex a lot. A lot. And if you get with some guy, it's not going to be all chaste kisses and holding hands. It's going to be groping and jacking off and blow jobs. At the very least. Two Gay teenagers who fall in "love" ? Shit. How the hell can they avoid sexual situations? This is either some pablum for the masses, and trying way too hard not ti scare people, or being authentic. I like these two actors, but honestly, they should have cast Gay actors for these parts. It's ridiculous in this day in 2021 not to. How the Hell are we supposed to believe in the characters?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 2, 2021 1:09 PM |
The first season was made for Disney so it was superchaste. If this is now going to be a Hulu show of course the characters aren't going to have the silly sexuality of Disney characters anymore. Look at any teen drama on the CW or whatever.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 2, 2021 1:44 PM |
Ok! This is my last lust-filled post. But I love this picture almost as much as the tat picture. Almost....
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 2, 2021 11:36 PM |
If I recall, your beloved George's gorgeous face is ruined by a rat teefs
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 2, 2021 11:51 PM |
Will there be nudity?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 2, 2021 11:53 PM |
George was the Lilliputian villain of the Amazon series Alex Rider.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 2, 2021 11:59 PM |
Michael looks like he turned into a pass around bottom.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 3, 2021 12:06 AM |
George has a beautiful mouth. Those lips are all natural. I've seen pictures of him at a younger age and he always had a beautiful mouth. And he has bedroom eyes. That moody, pouty thing. Are we sure he's straight?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 3, 2021 12:27 AM |
Was he any good, R24?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 3, 2021 12:27 AM |
The final episode of Season 1 has George Sear's character, Benji breaking up with his boyfriend after they fight about Michael Cimino/Victor. Andrew/Mason Gooding (also hot) finds out Victor is Gay because he accidently overhears a conversation in the men's room. So he tells Victor off. Benji finds Victor sitting on a bench out side alone in the dark, tells him he is attracted to Victor, and Victor admits he feels the same way. They Kiss. It's a pretty decent kiss, all things considered.
But Mia, Victor's girlfriend has been looking for Victor and sees him and Benji in a passionate make out scene on the bench. Andrew takes her home, sobbing. Victor intercepts them, tries to "explain" and they are angry and hurt. They tell Victor off. Victor's sister doesn't know he is crazy about Benji, just that he cheated on Mia. She tells him off. So Victor, feeling like shit, goes home and after his parents tell him and his sister they're going to separate, he tells them he's Gay. That's it. It ends with a cliffhanger. So there really was no opportunity for hot sex.
Season 2 has to be different. Now that Benji & Victor admitted they are hot for one another, how can they possibly avoid it? Unless, Victor's super religious parents force him into conversion therapy, or they send him back to Texas in chains. I feel sorry for Benji/George. Because something tells me he is going to catch a lot of shit at school and so is Victor. Now from one point of view maybe people feel like Victor dating a girl was wrong and he deserves to catch shit. But Benji is out. He doesn't deserve to catch shit. And the guy who played Benji's boyfriend Lucas Gage, (also hot) is still in the cast, so he'll be around. Season 2 ought to be fun if they don't fuck it up.
So what if I like this show! It's the pandemic!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 3, 2021 1:25 PM |
Was he any good, [R24]?
Not particularly, no. He's not a strong actor, but pretty to look at.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 3, 2021 2:26 PM |
Alex Rider was dreck. How can anyone determine whether someone is bad in something like that.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 3, 2021 10:48 PM |
First picture of the two of them in a scene together from the set of season 2. All I can say is they better bring it because this could be a great series or it could be meh. They have chemistry and they have chemistry together.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 8, 2021 6:15 PM |
I guess Love Victor Season 1 has started streaming in the UK, so they're doing publicity and interviews. George has a charming accent. He and Michael Cimino did one where they said George didn't really sing in Season one, but he will be doing his own singing in Season 2. They'll be doing more with his character and his backstory, coming out, etc. He has sexy eyes.... They're half finished with Season 2 already. Michael said it would be "Spicy" because they will continue to "explore their sexuality..." We may get Brokeback Mountain's tent scene after all.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 21, 2021 3:00 AM |
This is a cute video of the cast members. I love Ana Ortiz and Michael Cimino is definitely growing on me. Love George's accent.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 21, 2021 1:42 PM |
What is with all the concern trolls wringing their hands that teenage characters will be having sex? Like this is some sort of new TV concept? Have they never watched a tv drama with teenage characters before?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 21, 2021 2:16 PM |
So will Victor bottom?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 21, 2021 2:33 PM |
Hunny, I'll bet they show the two guys in bed all breathless...with their shirts off. They'll spray a little sheen of oil and water on them to simulate sweat and try to convince us it's a "spicy " sex scene. They're straight. They won't "go there..." Although that picture at R14 works for me. ' '
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 21, 2021 4:40 PM |
I'm surprised that no porn company hasn't yet tried doing a porn parody of this show or the Love Simon movie.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 21, 2021 6:26 PM |
This is a serious question. We know from the series that Victor turns 16 on the show. So as far as sex goes, just how far can they go on a TV show if there are possible issues with someone being under age. I know. In real life Kids have sex. But this is a TV show set in a high school and the target audience is young adults.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 22, 2021 2:42 PM |
Well r37 they could use new twink Johnny Bandera to play Michael Cimino's role Victor.lol
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 22, 2021 7:39 PM |
Have you never watched a show about highschoolers r38? Check out The OC, Gossip Girl, Riverdale etc. The characters have sex.
And this is no longer a Disney show meant for young kids, it's a Hulu show.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 22, 2021 7:43 PM |
If I were a High School teacher and George was my student, I'd seduce his fine ass.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 23, 2021 10:57 PM |
Season 2 airs on Hulu in June! I'm looking forward to it.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 25, 2021 8:37 PM |
OK. Looks like this TV show is going for the religious angle. Apparently Ana Ortiz did an interview where she comments about the fact that usually it's the Latino father we'd expect to have a problem with a Gay son, but she has to be the one who opposes him since she is so religious. and it's a new role for her. Then they post pictures of some new character, a priest character played by Sean O'Bryan.

They should find some hot guy to play a young Gay teacher who seduces Benji.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 9, 2021 3:38 PM |
R45 great idea! Cause high school teachers fucking students is hawt and makes great teen TV!
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 9, 2021 11:20 PM |
Or maybe a young Gay teacher that is seduced by Benji....
by Anonymous | reply 47 | March 15, 2021 2:00 AM |
Or since the mother is religious, maybe one of her priests or ministers could have a little something something with Victor…
by Anonymous | reply 48 | March 15, 2021 2:01 AM |
Catholic priests would rather diddle someone closer in age to Victor's kid brother.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | March 15, 2021 1:34 PM |
Whoa!!! WTF is that from?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 17, 2021 3:33 PM |
Can a highschooler like Victor got into gaybar like he did in NYC when visiting Simon?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | March 17, 2021 3:46 PM |
Well, IMO, they would probably let him in if he were accompanied by an adult, but not unaccompanied. And no drinking alcohol. And he was pretty.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | March 17, 2021 7:19 PM |
Legally? No. Some bars let 18 and up if they don't drink, but he isn't even 18. And they were at a crowded club on a weekend so bouncers are going to be checking IDs.
But easy to fanwank those guys were friends with people that work at the club and got their cute friend in.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | March 17, 2021 7:49 PM |
IMO, George Sear is a much better looking version of Michael Pitt. A young Michael Pitt.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | March 18, 2021 12:48 AM |
R51 from a recent photoshoot Michael did.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | March 18, 2021 12:59 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 60 | March 18, 2021 3:44 AM |
I watched the first five minutes of the first episode and turned it off. The dialogue was insufferable, like it was written by an amateur middle schooler, and it was so heavy-handed with the cues to make sure that the audience knew that the family was unmistakably latino.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | March 18, 2021 3:59 AM |
Yes, it was rather self-conscious.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 18, 2021 12:34 PM |
I think George looks young for his age, and honestly, after watching Glee, I learned not to pay too much attention, because most of the actors in Glee looked too old for high school. In this show, he looks dangerously hot for high school. So does Mason Gooding, Cuba's son.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | March 19, 2021 2:49 AM |
Michael Cimino has recently said that he misses quarantine long hair.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 28, 2021 9:11 AM |
IMO, Michael doesn't look good with long hair, unless he is going for a femme look. It's very curly, very wavy. Michael has a beautiful face, but his look are more compelling with the shorter style. George looks good with longer hair. Saw pics of George's father as a young man about George's current age and he had long, straight, hippie hair, and he was hot. But he is darker than George. Black hair.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | March 28, 2021 3:53 PM |
George has amazing nipples. Michael hardly has any nipples that you'd notice.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | April 3, 2021 10:12 PM |
Is Michael not straight? He’s a couple of selfies away from going full non binary on us. Boy clearly wants a cock badly.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | April 3, 2021 11:33 PM |
Supposedly he's straight R67 but says he has a gay relative who helped him in preparing for this role.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | April 11, 2021 11:00 PM |
I watched some interviews and Michael seems to try too hard. He's really smart, and it comes out, and he's likable, but he tries not to show it. And he is awkward around his peers. He gets "wired" and he talks too fast and too much. Obnoxious. George, is more confident and more mature. And I think on a couple of occasions he seemed like he was sot of stone. LOL! But in a good way.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | April 12, 2021 12:58 AM |
There are zero gay actors (openly at least) that are part of this show r67.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | April 12, 2021 1:04 AM |
R69, it seems that YOU are sot of stone
by Anonymous | reply 71 | April 12, 2021 2:53 AM |
So Love Victor Season 2 will stream on Disney Plus in the UK and other counties. It airs on HULU on June 11th...I wonder if they'll do phone sex, because George 's voice...George 's hair is fabulous. Michael should not do facial hair
by Anonymous | reply 72 | May 13, 2021 6:45 PM |
So tired of closet cases pretending they're straight playing gay with a gay cousin. Fuck this shit. We need a gay teen show where all the protagonists are gay, played by gay or bi actors.
Who cares about straight couples' dilemmas in a gay show? Who is this show for anyway? It sure isn't for us.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | May 13, 2021 6:51 PM |
OK. I'm officially the George troll. Look, I sincerely hope they do better on Season 2 than they did with the insipid bullshit they wrote. for Season 1.
it was definitely for teenagers and it was definitely Disney-fied. Hopefully Season 2 will be better. The only reason to watch Season 1 is for George Sear, and IMO it's the only reason to watch Season 2. I offer collection of Tat photos to make the case...
by Anonymous | reply 74 | May 13, 2021 6:54 PM |
Season two airs on Disney Plus in the UK on June 18th. It airs here in the US on June 11th. Trailer drops next week. I hear you R73. I guess I have to console myself thinking about all the Gay actors forced to play straight characters in order to find work. This is like a reverse Celluloid closet. The producers and studio types must think "Well lets ignore sexuality and just do "blind casting."
by Anonymous | reply 75 | May 13, 2021 7:00 PM |
R70 I think there is one in Season 2 that I know of. Anthony Keyvan.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | May 13, 2021 7:06 PM |
Yeah I hope in Season 2 they feel more like real teenagers and not Disneyfied. I'd like to get a more honest depiction of Victor exploring his sexuality with his new bf. Lots of possibilities there that write themselves.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | May 13, 2021 7:06 PM |
Bebe Wood is the best thing about this show and she plays a straight character. Why not make her a lesbian or bi? This girl deserves lead material and hooking up with girls too. She's fantastic.
I have nothing against straights writing gay content but if you're doing it please privilege the gays, stop this mentality that we need straight characters to balance it out. A gay show in the 1990s I'd understand that, but a show in 2021? I want to like this show and I know they read DL so this is my plea.
I'll still support this, because it is better than nothing and it's the only teen show with a gay lead, isn't it?
by Anonymous | reply 78 | May 13, 2021 7:13 PM |
Quite chewy, R74. Very nice.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | May 13, 2021 7:43 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 82 | May 14, 2021 1:33 AM |
There better be a lubed up double-headed dildo!*shaking fist*
TV show for teens? Fuck that. Turn it into a Helix Studios softcore feature! And it better be available on Disney+ otherwise the bigots have won!
These are my very sensible demands. /s

After reading this interview from one of the producers, it appears Victor is going to get his ass kicked in the locker room. Also seems like Victor and Benji might do a bit more than hold hands in the first few episodes. They are good during their summer idyll, but things get rough when school starts.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | May 14, 2021 9:07 PM |

I have to wonder if Victor is a top or a bottom. I think Top.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | May 16, 2021 1:30 PM |
I didn't understand why they waxed all the hair off George's chest, and even lightened his nipples but then I realized that in real life he has tattoos and they had to cover them with make up. I think with Michael, they went a bit darker to cover his tats. The thing I do not get, is this is supposed to be Atlanta and they dress for fall or even Winter with plaid shirts and long sleeves. Why not just let then have their tattoos. Honestly, some of this takes place over summer vacation, but no swimming pool, not even a lake.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | May 22, 2021 2:47 PM |
R90, insatiable bottom.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | May 22, 2021 2:52 PM |
R92 why do these questions always, always get answered with ‘totally bottom’, ‘insatiable bottom” etc. on DL?
Obviously some guys are tops otherwise nobody would be having any sex.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | May 22, 2021 3:30 PM |
R93, of course a small percentage of gays are tops. But this twink is a bottom.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | May 22, 2021 5:26 PM |
R91 I guess because they are supposed to be portraying high schoolers is why. Considering that Victor's family is supposed to be somewhat strict Catholics. It's probably unlikely that they would have allowed him to get a tattoo. He would only have one, is if he secretly had a fake id and got one behind their backs or got one from a back alley person.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | May 23, 2021 8:50 AM |
I watched some group interviews with cast on Twitter, and Anthony Turpel almost gave it away. Apparently Episode #4 is a trip to a lodge in the mountains and stuff happens. Victor and Benji, Andrew and his new girlfriend and I think Lake & Felix. Not sue if Mia goes...Apparently the actor Daniel Croix ( very hot) may be her new love interest.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | May 23, 2021 9:08 PM |
So yet again a gay-themed show, has more straight couples and storylines than the gay main character. So disappointing.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | May 23, 2021 9:51 PM |
of course a small percentage of gays are tops.
Only promiscuous bottoms think that. Even if you were straight you'd still find some math to justify your behavior.
There aren't more tops than bottoms, you just sleep around so much that you feel like there's never enough.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | May 23, 2021 9:53 PM |
I prefer being a bottom but I like to top now and then. Look when I want to fuck I will do what I gotta do.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | May 24, 2021 2:46 AM |
I think there are more bottoms but it’s more like 70::30.
I want Victor to be the top. Firstly, it’s hotter for the Latin guy to top the blond. Secondly, I feel it’s more touching for his first time to be topping. He can give bottoming the college try later on.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | May 24, 2021 10:32 AM |
Actually I think Victor's personality, from what I saw in Season One, leads me to think he is a top by nature. Now the thing is, would Benji, who admitted he was not a virgin, allow someone so inexperienced to top him? IMO the only way would be to have Victor on his back with Benji riding.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | May 24, 2021 3:03 PM |
I agree, it’d be so hot to see Benji riding Victor cowboy. Victor could be all shy and Benji can relax him and ease him in. Hawt.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | May 24, 2021 8:18 PM |
You know this Season 2 trailer has Victor saying, "I'm scared to death of having sex for the first time..." And IMO that runs counter to the character in Season 1 who lied and schemed to get an overnight with Benji then they are in bed together, in the dark, and he makes a pass at him. I mean they were kissing. (Benji definitely kissed back before he stopped himself. Now Let's imagine that Benji didn't stop. WTF were they supposed to do, lay there kissing? LOL! A 16 y old guy is hot for 17 y old who is no virgin. Middle of the night in bed together and they're not going to at least do blow jobs? Or fuck? Please. I think Victor came to fuck. So now he's scared? Bullshit. No hole is a plot hole.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | May 24, 2021 10:35 PM |
Season 2 trailer is out. I still think Felix is much too attractive and charismatic to play the socially awkward sidekick and his acting skills aren't good enough to overcome that. The str8 black jock also overshadows Benji in looks and charisma. At least in Love Simon, you didn't have these miscasting issues and Simon was the "hero" of his own story. Here, Victor almost feels like a victim and we're watching a tragedy, except his circumstances aren't all that tragic. There's also no mention of cancel culture, which is basically a form of bullying, and something all gay boys and basically everyone around Victor's age have some anxiety about.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | May 25, 2021 7:15 AM |
" The str8 black jock also overshadows Benji in looks and charisma. "
You're entitled to your opinion, R104, but IMO, no way does the straight Black Jock guy over shadow Benji in looks and charisma. It's a matter of preference and I'm Team Benji all the way. Benji is not a jock, he's an artist. If I had to chose, I would be attracted to Benji, and in fact I would feel a lot more comfortable with him than I would with Victor as far as Gay guys go.
I also disagree about Felix. In high school I knew the Benjis, the Victors, the Felix, and the Jocks, and Benji and Felix ae a lot more interesting. Truthfully, Victor gets on my nerves sometimes. He's hot, but his personality leaves something to be desired. I think the Felix actor does an excellent job interpreting that character. His social awkwardness is spot on for a guy who lives alone with a mentally ill mother who is a hoarder. He bravely soldiers on trying to put on a good front, but he is socially inept, with few friends. I think his character is also the "ugly duckling" who may well emerge as a swan. Or not. But he doesn't think of himself as good looking or cool.
He's probably terrified at the possibility people will find out the truth about his home situation. Also, of all the people on the show, Felix seems like the guy who is poor. As in no money. All the other kids are either affluent or solidly middle class. Victor's father tells his wife she doesn't need to work and they have three kids, two of the teenagers?
by Anonymous | reply 105 | May 25, 2021 12:48 PM |
I love Felix. I’m hoping Victor and Benji will invite him into a sweet and sexy threesome.

In Season 1, Andrew was a bully, ( the Black jock, ) and Felix was a victim of bullying.
And IMO that runs counter to the character in Season 1 who lied and schemed to get an overnight with Benji then they are in bed together
It doesn't. These are teenagers. It's typical of this age and the way teens always make little things to be bigger deals than they actually are, also contradiction is part of adolescence, something lots of shows, including this one, always miss.

Gotta say, after seeing the picture of Benji standing in that doorway with his shirt off, he has exactly the kind of body I love. Not too muscular and beefy, but not too slim. He has just the right amount of definition. Great abs.

r104 r105 I meant to say Andrew, the black jock, overshadows Victor in looks and charisma. My point was that Victor doesn't seem to be the star of his own show. I get that they were trying to do a Latino, working class, Catholic version of Love Simon but the cast and writing is unbalanced. Andrew and Felix are more attractive than Victor or Benji for example. I could see Felix doing a male version of an ugly duckling story but usually those characters are the protagonist not a sidekick for comic relief. I agree that Felix, Benji, and Andrew are more interesting than Victor and that is a problem.

What about sideways spooning sex?
Quite cinematic, can keep it relatively clean by showing just the upper bodies with everything worse under the covers. And it’s more egalitarian and even romantic. Victor can pound Benji without having to be look slick/experienced with his moves.

"My point was that Victor doesn't seem to be the star of his own show. " Excellent point, R110. Michael Cimino looks nice and yeah, on paper he's the opposite of Simon, but he can't carry the series alone. He can't even carry a scene. IMO they have a vey good cast, but Anthony Turpel, Bebe Woods (Lake) and George Sear, Mason Gooding, (Andrew) and Rachel Bilson (Mia) everything sort of falls flat.
I've seen Love Simon, and Simon was very bland. I'm not a Nick Robinson fan, and yet IMO the rest of the cast was so bland he stood out. Jennifer Garner isn't bland and neither was the guy who played his hot father. But he & Bram were not exactly charismatic. The cast of Love Victor is excellent...except for Victor. He's the weakest cast member. But he's very pretty, much more so than Nick Robinson, who is a better actor.

R111, that’s very sweet, but I need to see Victor getting pounded doggy-style.

Victor is like some energetic puppy always begging to be petted in most of his scenes, and after watching a couple of joint interviews with Michael Cimino and other cast members, he's got a really annoying personality. Obnoxious, fawning, limited vocabulary confined to expressions like, "Cool! Awesome! Oh, Man! " He also has these huge ugly dogs that he hugs and kisses and talks to during interviews. Ugh. So maybe the scene is Benji sleeping, it's barely sunrise, and Victor comes out of the bathroom, and hops on, straddling him, and rides. I do like the spooning image though. It's surprise anal at it's best!

I thought Simon and Bram were very cute together. The final ferris wheel scene was done very well. Very touching and quite organic I thought.
I think Simon and Bram are a genuinely verse couple with Bram being the top somewhat more often.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | May 27, 2021 4:45 PM |
R117, Simon and Bram were compatible. But they wouldn't turn heads. They were really basic. really average. They had this "everyman" quality to them. Victor and Benji are a more attractive couple, except, IMO Victor is not that interesting. Benji is interesting.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | May 27, 2021 5:42 PM |
R118 I am the opposite. Victor seems endearing when he's not so whiny, while Benji is just a bland love interest to me. Also, liked Simon but didn't care for Bram who was essentially a blank stand-in, and I never felt like he really fit the person I imagined writing those emails to Simon.

They look a bit... grown up. This was a problem in Love Simon as well, and I know it’s a tradition in teen movies, but Benji in particular looks like a gym going mid-twenty something. Their bedrooms are like bachelor pads.
It all makes it seem not quite as sweet/cute as it should be.

Hey compared to the cast of Glee, they look just fine. I think Love Victor did a much better job with casting than a lot of these YA shows.

Is it weird that the premise of the trailer at r120 reminds me of Trick? Two guys not being able to find a place to have sex without getting interrupted? All that's missing is a cameo by Tori Spelling or Coco Peru.

When I look at this cast, I have to wonder, who among the top ones will have a successful career...beside Mason Gooding and Rachel Bilson. I guess I'm asking whether or not Michael Cimino, Anthony Turpel, George Sear and BeBe Woods will go on to greater things. I know, Isabella is already doing pretty good and so is Rachel Bilson. Personally, I think the cast is really good. It saves a vey mediocre script.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | June 6, 2021 4:32 PM |
When I think about it, consider the cast from Glee, none of them have much going since Glee. Well, maybe Darren Criss.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | June 7, 2021 10:19 AM |
Melissa B. had Supergirl and Grant Gustin has The Flash. But from the main cast, other than Darren, only Lea had more or less steady work thanks to her BFF Ryan Murphy who cast her in Scream Queens.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | June 7, 2021 11:39 AM |
I could see Bebe Woods as the next Natasha Lyonne or Michelle Williams and Anthony Turpel is already a good character actor so I'd say he could go on to have a career similar to Jack Nicholson or Tom Hanks. The problem with George Sear is that he's pretty short however, that didn't impede Tom Cruise although there was a lot less competition back then. As for Michael Cimino, I see him coming out as a member of the LGBTQIA community and relegated to niche roles kind of llike Jonathan Bennett is now.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | June 8, 2021 7:54 PM |
I watched a couple of online reviews and I was pleasantly surprised at how they tracked with a couple of assessments on DL. Mainly that Victor (Michel Cimino) is kind of a cipher; he is not the star or even the main character in his own series. Of all the actors, while he has his moments, and he is certainly attractive, his acting chops are very weak. R134, I agree that Bebe and Anthony Turpel have a future. Both of them are outstanding. I also like Mason Gooding...he reminds me of a jock I had a huge crush on in high school. Rachel Hilson is a very good actor. So is Isabella Feirrera. Actually, I think they did a very good job with casting. it's just that of all the characters, Victor is weak, and Michael Cimino is not strong enough to bring him out.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | June 9, 2021 2:31 AM |
Honestly Victor and Benji are not especially interesting characters, and Michael and George are not especially dynamic actors. That was obvious from Season 1.

R137, I don't know how many romantic comedies have high school coming out stories as their main theme, their central characters are Gay. This is about the Gays. A couple of the producers are Gay. The show itself was written by Gays. The casting director is Gay, the director of many of the episodes is Gay. It's not a typical sit com with one gay character for comic relief. This show has nothing to do with Pedos. It's about 16, 17 yr. olds as someone on a chat said recently, it was great to see a story that wasn't a tragic Gay love story or variations of one.

Oops.... sneak peek...They go to some kind of rustic lodge and Benji brings lube! Victor spots it and when Benji goes into the bathroom, Victor holds it up for us all to see... virgin Victor is a nervous wreck. LOL! I have to say. If they are going to play his character being a stiff, nervous, asexual wreck, letting all that Benji go to waste, I'm not going to be happy.

R143, he is lovely. I just wish they didn't write him so stiff. He's wound real tight. So different from that episode in Season 1when he made a pass at Benji when they shared a bed overnight. If I was lusting over some guy, and we had a weekend or an overnight I'd be all over that.

Average review for the new season, and once again - a "gay" show where the straight romances takes centre stage:
It feels wrong to say, given that Love, Victor is very much a queer story, but the most real (and sometimes most frustrating) teen story produced out of Season 2 ends up being between Lake and Felix. They’re forced to take on more than teens ever should, and the result may or may not end up catastrophic for their relationship. The moments that come out of that are both heart wrenching and extremely worthwhile and seeing a teen show manage to subvert the traditional best friend subplot is refreshing to say the least. I want to say that at least Victor and Benji come in at a close second, but those accolades go to Mia and whatever this new, progressive version of Andrew (Mason Gooding) is. There are plenty of queer aspects that this series does well, and there’s a good amount of accuracy to Victor and Benji, but the story relies too much on them being a combination of relatable moments rather than people with personalities.
by Anonymous | reply 149 | June 10, 2021 1:40 AM |
Look. In Season1, Victor and Benji had a relaxed close relationship.it was light hearted. Benji found Victor easy to talk to. Victor was at ease with Benji. It looks like, just judging from the clip, that Season 2 Victor seems distant, stiff, even formal. Benji is still himself, Victor is self conscious and weird.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | June 10, 2021 1:49 AM |
OF course the straight romances would end up being the main plotlines of the show. This show was kicked to Hulu because the creators were too ashamed they had created a gay show. Of course they were going to degay it at the first opportunity.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | June 10, 2021 1:50 AM |
R150, once Victor gets a dick in him he’ll start to relax.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | June 10, 2021 1:52 AM |
Did anyone read it?
It doesn't claim the show is degayed or the straight shit is more prominent, it says the straight characters are more interesting. Which unfortunately duh, that was plain in Season 1.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | June 10, 2021 1:54 AM |
Why is Mia even part of the show at all? Her arc finished last season when Victor was found out and got dumped. This is what so obvious about this show. It's afraid to just make it about a gay teen romance.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | June 10, 2021 1:55 AM |
I think the intent was that Victor is out now and he has to live in the real world ...where there are a lot of straight people. He has a circle of people he interacts with who are straight. There was something in the promos about him not being Gay enough for Benji and his friends, so maybe we'll see more Gay representation through Benji. And the new guy, Rahim is Gay.
But I agree Mia was over last year. From what I read she doesn't have a lot to do this time. I think her role has been pared down to a few appearances. I've listened to several interviews with the producers casting director, writers, and they said that Season 1 dealt with Victor's fear and confusion about his sexuality. His real story begins with the final scene in Season one where he tells his parents he's gay. They said Season 2 will be about how Victor operates in the world he inhabits: School, basketball, family, new boyfriend, etc. But he is evolving and finding his way in Season 2 and they are talking about Season 3 already.

I watched a couple interviews and the casting director is Gay, two of the producers are Gay, and the writers are Gay, as well as the director. R186 it’s incredible how many teen shows there are, all with sex and romance etc., how many coming of age movies there are with explicit teen sex scenes, how many movies unrelated to teens that happen to throw in a lot of adolescents kissing and doing their thing. A lot of them are family friendly shows too.
That doesn’t bother you, obviously… because it’s for and about straights. When it’s for and about gays, it’s suddenly a problem!

Nice that Simon's dad from the movie appeared in his role. Can't agree with the review, R149 . They have to find a market for a gay lead in a TV series targeted for younger viewers than those who watched GENERA+ION where almost all teens had experience. But I think the stories in LOVE, VICTOR are well written and the gay couple isn't boring compared to the others. The storyline of Victor and his mom is very relatable to any young gay. Big improvement over the film and the series' first season.

R195 If you thought any of that was explicit or even sex then you clearly don't understand how to use what those words mean.
R196 They didn't even get to that, it was just (implied) naked making out. And no, no nudity, not even ass. And again, that passionless no-tongue kissing.

Maybe it was all in the writing, but I thought Victor’s scenes with Rahim seemed to loosen Michael up as an actor too.

Anthony Turpel is the MVP of the show. He’s funny, poignant, and adorable.
Michael Cimino is cute but he isn’t believable as the best basketball player on his team. He could pass as a dabbler in high school sports but not the star.

What bothered me the most about season 2 was that the writers had to make Benji so unlikable. He was so sweet in season 1. You know the writers suck when they make the characters so out of character only to further the plot. Seriously... Benji wasn't even Benji anymore. They had to completely change him for the plot to make sense. I guess the writers figured the only way we would root for Victor and Rahim would be if Benji was an asshole so we would think Victor deserved better. And what the fuck was up with Rahim?! It was out of character for Victor to go for someone like Rahim. There is no way in hell Victor would EVER choose a femme stereotype like Rahim after dating Benji. Also, they are clearly both bottoms. It would never ever work. Why couldn't the writers choose someone better for this love triangle than Rahim? Couldn't stand his character since the first time I saw him. I felt like the writers shoehorned him in to tick a box, they just HAD to have muslim representation... sigh. Not only muslim but a femmy gay muslim, double whammy! YAY! Again, it was not realistic that Victor would go for someone like him. It felt off and fake to me. Oh, and what's with the devout muslim parents accepting Rahim. WHAT THE FUCK!? Something else that would never ever happen in real life. No way in hell. Nope. Not buying it.

There's a tendency in these kind of shows to make the femme gay character perfect. Always funny, always smart, always gets the last word, everyone wants him sexually, etc. Generation was the same way. Does make you wonder how much time the writers of these shows spend amongst gay people.

Who was he in the first season? We knew almost nothing about him.
The frustrations he had with Victor made sense to me.

The addition of the effeminate Muslim kid was so unnecessary and annoying, you can tell they hired some writer for woke points and to make people pitty a fem boy for being rejected by masculine guy.
What a fucking ridiculous show this is. Written by straight people, so you get 3 straight stories and one gay one, what a great "gay" show this is, right?
Apparently they read DL, because it was clear by the last scene that they'll make Bebe Wood bi as her character is flirting with Cuba Jr Jr's ex.
Bebe is the best thing about this show, so now we'll have to endure the annoying femme Iranian and Bebe Wood getting on with a girl, so maybe there's some future. Maybe by season 8 we'll balance the ratio and a LGBT show will finally be about us and not straight people with a gay couple in the middle.

I’ve just started watching the first season. Is it just me or does Benji seem weirdly hyper-confident?
I just find it strange and unrealistic that a newly out 16 year old would be so super savvy and poised. I’m struggling with that aspect tbh.

Benji isn't newly out r216, when we meet him he has been with his boyfriend for over a year already.

Agree r209. That Victor is supposed to be some badass baller and the "least gay guy ever" is just not something Michael Cimino projects. It's weird when the writing tells us that is how we are supposed to see the character.
by Anonymous | reply 218 | June 12, 2021 11:39 PM |
r218 Straight actors don't mind "playing gay" anymore but once you require heavy makeouts and sex scenes, the herd thins. The show probably couldn't get the actors they wanted.

😂 😂 😂 😂
Let me tell you how this went on the writers room. The straight showrunners whom I love actually got a token gay staff writer, which today has to be a person of color (black, then Latino) and effeminate and they'll give an input, like whining that no one wants them, no fats no fems, etc. and they throw it in even at the expense of the plot and they're done with diversity.
So we already know Victor will follow David and Patricks route. Well, at least Dan Levy was writing himself into the story...

So the showrunner of a show about a masculine Latino jock who is gay is an effeminate white male who has a grudge against masculine guys. hahahaha

As much as I hated what the writers did to Benji in season 2, I commend them for actually showing gay sex. Noy only gay sex, but a gay relationship and gay love. It was beautiful. Too bad they ruined a character by the end of it though. I could never stand Rahim. He was annoying. I know Victor chose him in the end, they were hinting at it too much, especially when Victor said "people never stay with their first boyfriend/girlfriend".
by Anonymous | reply 224 | June 13, 2021 7:15 AM |
R221 NAILED IT. I said earlier that they ruined the character Benji. They made him unlikable to further the plot, so we would hate him so it would be easier to root for Victor ending up with Rahim. I hate when writers do this. They make a character act out of character just to further the plot. It's not only bad writing, it's lazy.
by Anonymous | reply 225 | June 13, 2021 7:18 AM |
R221 It's like they were ticking off a box with the character Rahim. Muslim? Check. Femme? Check. Gay? Check. Ugh. It felt forced and they ruined the character Benji to make it work. Fuck them. I'd rather this show didn't get a season 3 if it's about Victor and Rahim. People watched because they liked Victor with Benji. Making them break up is a massive mistake.
by Anonymous | reply 226 | June 13, 2021 7:21 AM |
R219 Heck, it was even visible with Michael Cimino. Did you SEE the kissing? Tight lips galore. He looked uncomfortable af. I still wish they chose a gay guy for the role. Would have made the make out scenes and sex scenes more believable.
by Anonymous | reply 227 | June 13, 2021 7:24 AM |
R193 Same. The kissing scenes were lacking because they're all straight and clearly uncomfortable with it.

Rahim reminds me a bit too much of Duckie in Pretty in Pink, and that is not meant as a compliment.
by Anonymous | reply 230 | June 13, 2021 11:40 AM |
I think there was an interesting truth, that isn’t very often put out there, on the screen of the mother being more comfortable with Rahim’s gayness then Benji’s, and not just because Benji’s dating her son. The idea that some straight people can be more accepting and embrace stereotypical gays who live up to their expectations of what gay people are like is an interesting thing to explore, and I wish there would have been a scene of Victor calling her out on that and uncovering the root of it.

Pat One:
I hate being manipulated with cliffhangers! Shame on them not just for that, but for the lazy writing, the bullshit love triangles and for shitting on Benji. I've watched it several times. Victor treated Benji like shit. First when they're talking, and Felix realizes Benji has never been to Victor's house, Benji said it was OK, takes time, it's fine. But Big Shot Victor says, come on over for dinner. I was in agony for Benji. It was horrible. It felt too real. Isabel was terrible to him. And yet, when they go to the bonfire it's Benji who apologizes: "Sorry things didn't go well with you mother..." (When I was thrown out, my kid brother wasn't told for four damned years. They even monitored our phone calls.)
Victor insists "I'm ready" but when they get to school he decides not to come out two seconds after he tells Benji he will. No warning. And Benji accepts it. "All I want to do it each across the table and hold my boyfriend's hand." Damn that hit home. At work, Victor begs, "I'm sorry I'm not as brave as you. Please don't give up on me..." And Benji's response "I couldn't give up on you even if I wanted to..." Benji is in love. Seriously. It takes Mia being smeared by some retarded jocks, to get Victor to stand on a chair and announce he is Gay, he's with Benji, and "really, really happy." And Rahim is watching everything. Watching the Golden Couple walk out holding hands and kissing.
At the cabin, the showrunners/writers/director have Victor avoiding Benji (he's scared of sex) This is his boyfriend's cabin and he tells his boyfriend, "You host, I'm going with Felix to call my mom." He couldn't even share hosting and be helpful. There were no scenes of everyone in the kitchen noshing, eating, cooking, bonding. Later during the drinking game, Benji is keeping a protective eye on Victor, (Pace yourself) and suggests Victor go check on the nachos and Victor ignores him and runs off to find Felix. The director has Benji sitting on the sofa or the floor with no lines and nothing to do. Later, we find him standing in the doorway of their room, telling Victor "I went for a walk alone because my boyfriend has been avoiding me all day." Victor just left him there, embarrassing him in front of their guests. So Victor basically pissed all over what could have been a good time. And Victor doesn't even acknowledge Benji's discomfort.
After wasting the entire day, Victor finally admits he's afraid of sex and didn't want Benji to feel like he had to hold Victor's hand and show him how to be Gay." Benji, the forgiving, reassures him, he's definitely Gay, he has natural instincts, and it's fine if they fall asleep with their clothes on holding hands! Next morning, Victor must have had morning wood, because he smiles blissfully at Benji and does the "I love you" and Benji admits he is in love and would have told him last night but he was scared. They finally undress and fuck. And honestly I loved the way they went for one another, smiling, etc. Benji and Victor could have had a beautiful time if Victor had allowed it. I believe words, intimacy, mean more to Benji than they do to Victor. I think Benjj is fragile and his reactions and observations are colored by his own experiences. He's sensitive. And he is patient and sweet and thoughtful...as Victor pointed out in Season one. (cont'd)
.

Part 2:
Finding out about Benji's alcoholism, Benji was visibly upset. Embarrassed. Truly. His parents are gross. I felt sorry for him having them for parents. No warmth. All Victor wants to talk about is why didn't you tell me. He wasn't sympathetic or reassuring, he was accusatory, acting like he was the injured party! Later he actually goes to Victor's house...at Victor's invitation, they go to Victor's room, and are engaged in some intense make up sex, and boom! Isabel. When she and Benji get into it ( He tells her "This is awkward for everyone) attacks him for having sex in her house, and Benji explodes. She orders Benji out of her house, and Victor stands there with Isabel and tells him to go, instead of leaving with him. Benji was clearly in a fragile state. he'd just explained to Victor that being an alcoholic was a part of his life that he hated, while Victor was the part of his life that he loved! That was a powerful moment, IMO, and BTW, George Sear really nailed the important moments.
And finally Rahim, who IMO is a drama queen and a shit stirrer. He had Pilar invite him over to talk to her Gay brother for some "advice." and all of a sudden he is always hanging around and sings show tunes with Isabel...who is more comfortable with this kind of more stereotypical Gay. If I had been Victor, I would have been so pissed off at how she treated Rahim, after how she treated Benji I would have either insisted she invite Benji over for dinner too, or I would have left. I do not know why Victor didn't include Benji in his talks with Rahim. They could have met at the cafe.
The final piece is Victor sharing Benji's alcoholism with Rahim. IMO a HUGE betrayal of Trust. Rahim was really after Victor, wanted to break them up. Victor is going though family drama, he has boyfriend troubles, and Rahim makes his moves. He kisses Victor after Benji sees them dancing, insisting something is happening between them. I don't like Rahim for Victor. He is definitely not A List. he ought to find himself a guy. When Benji said to Victor, "I can't trust you!" it broke my heart. Ove all I felt Victor had no sense of Loyalty to Benji. I thought George/Benji had some really powerful scenes and I identified with the character more than I did with Victor.
I think the Showrunners writers, etc. are bankrupt. All they can think of is triangles and drama. Lazy writing. The scene where Victor runs after Benji, who was pissed off after seeing him with Rahim, and Victor insists "this is not what it looks like !" is almost identical to the scene in Season 1, where Derek and Benji argue...before they beak up. So if you want to know how a Season 3 would go, just spend some time looking at how they handled Season one.
Final notes I enjoyed the duet between Victor & Rahim at the Gay bar. I do not like Felix with Pilar. It's gross to me. I love Lake and she can do anything she wants. I thought the acting was petty damned good even if I disagreed with the characterizations. Ana Ortiz, James Martinez, George Sear, Anthony Turpel, Mason Gooding, Bebe Woods, Michael Cimino, etc. did an excellent job. I was particularly struck by the scene where Victor takes a drunk Mia home and they finally talk. Mia's speech was poignant to me. I have to give kudos to George and Michael for the way they handled their intimate scenes.

R237, I like Rahim too, but not for Victor. It just doesn't make sense and it is totally inconsistent with the way they have developed the relationship between Victor and Benji. Truthfully, it is Victor who is the least likeable character this season.
Now Rahim has a brother. It'll be very interesting to see how the writers handle the Muslim Gay guy. Because IMO Rahim is lying about his parents. If they are Muslims, devout Muslims, he will be lucky if all they do is throw him out. They didn't accept him as he describes it to Victor.

It seems on Twitter there are those who don't like what was done to Benji this season. Then there are certain others who like the addition of femmy Rahim and don't want Victor to get back with Benji because some of them claim they are tired of certain gays always being catered to.

You know Rahim playing the ace cad to push Victor and Benji further apart was so mean! Victor is vulnerable, having problems with his boyfriend, and then Rahim tells him "White people" the don't understand us. They don't understand our families." That was SO fucking wrong. Let's not talk about Victor's mother being a stupid Catholic or his own parents Muslim hatred and revulsion for Gays. No Victor's problem with Benji is a communication problem. And also because Victor is very selfish and disloyal right now. You don't out someone's struggles with alcoholism especially if you claim you love them, and they have asked you not to tell people.

Victor was being an asshole this season. I also didn't get why he ALWAYS took his mom's side?! Even when she was being a homophobic bitch he still took her side! Wtf?! When she caught them having sex, instead of telling her off and walking out with Benji, Victor told Benji off and stayed with his mom. What the actual fuck?! I feel like both Benji and Victor acted out of character this season. It didn't feel real at all. It wasn't realistic. I feel like the writers just wrote them that way to further the plot, even if it didn't make sense that they would act this way. The writing seemed very off this season. Like the plot was more important than character development. In many ways Victor actually regressed, he was being selfish af. Much worse than last season imo.

I'm re watching right now and on Episode 3 when coach tells Victor not to shower with the team. Afterwards Victor meets Benji and complains, " How come you're not more upset? You've been strangely quiet all day..." This is Victor asking Benji why Benji isn't upset for Victor. Benji calmly responds that he is indeed upset for V's sake, but he isn't surprised. He tells V everyone thinks coming out is easy nowadays, but it isn't. etc. But Victor says, "Maybe I should just go ahead and change in the coach's office. Then Benji gets assertive after listening, and says, "NO. You don't do that. Be with the people who accept you as you are." So Victor was ready to just cave in and shower separately until Benji reminded him that he needed to stand up. Clearly he has an expectation the Benji has to fight his battles even though later he will deny this and say he doesn't want Benji to hold his hand and teach him about being Gay. The thing is, Victor went to NYC and hung with Bram and Simon and learned there is no "right way" to be Gay. he can just be himself, but Victor is insecure about being Gay enough. I think that may be why he is temporarily attracted to flamboyant Rahim.

It was trial and error. I got the impression everyone was sort of floundering around and not just younger Gays even the older ones. But I never worried about being Gay enough. In fact before I came out I was terrified I was "too Gay." and I was going to be caught out.

In regards to which house Victor goes to at the end. There’s a scene in episode 8 where Victor goes to Benji’s house and he’s on the porch with his AA sponsor. It’s one of those scenes that seems to saying that the setting is very important and I immediately thought there’s a reason for them showing this. If you go back and look, it’s a modernist house with kind of thick slab golden oak doors and rough hewn stone walls. At the very end of the last episode Victor rings a doorbell that’s on a flat black, almost slate looking, wall. It must be Rahim’s house because it doesn’t look like anything you would see around Benji’s front door.

Skipped all the way to the finale.
1) Not sure if this is how the rest of the season went but Victor (supposedly the lead of the series) only had a relevant scene 10 minutes before the end of the episode. Prior to that he has 3 small scenes not lasting more than a minute. This is pretty bad for a lead storyline.
2) Rehim/Rahim (??) has much more chemistry with Victor than Benji. They actually look like they go to school together. Plus Rehim's story seems more compelling than what we know about Benji. Ben looks like a college freshman. No way he looks 16!
3) I was shocked to learn they are 16 years of age? For some reason I thought Ben was a senior or freshly out of High school.
4) Again, Mia's story seems unnecessary to the series. There is nothing to her story than is connected to Victor. They need to get rid of her and her boyfriend. Also, Felix's ex has no relevance to the story after this season. Get rid of her too.
5) Trim down the cast. Victor's family, his best friend, and his two wannabe-boyfriends are what this show should be about. Only then I might see the quality of the show pick up.

by Anonymous | reply 264 | June 13, 2021 8:51 PM |
Nope. Rahim lives in a very old red brick house with shiny painted black shutters and a shiny black painted door. I already scoped it out. It had no doorbell.
Now. Since I really hate the way the writers have manipulated this bullshit, let me just say, no matter whose door it is it could still be a curve ball. Suppose it is Rahim and Victor runs over to tell him that while he thinks Rahim is a great guy, he really wants to work it out with Benji because he really really still loves him.
O Maybe it's Benji's house and his father opens the door. Or maybe he goes to Benji and Benji tells Victor he is too upset and maybe they can talk in a few days. WTF. Who knows. Or maybe Victor goes over to his dad's house and Armando isn't home. No one knows. And honestly I know Victor told Simon he was ready to leave the nest and he got good advice now, I really do not think Victor is as ready as he thinks. I bet he enjoyed mentoring Rahim. He feels comfortable with him. But it's really not enough.

I posted this in the other thread, Benji claiming to be 16 in the finale made me choke on my coffee. Based on everything they have established with him he has to be a senior in highschool. After his birthday this season he should be 18.
by Anonymous | reply 268 | June 13, 2021 8:57 PM |
No R267, it's actually repetitive now. Victor's character is being robbed of story time by plots that do not connect or enhance his character development. Instead of watching Mia, Lake, or Andrew, we should have gotten more on Ben's background. Play up the love triangle more or focus more on Victor's siblings. They need to do some house cleaning if they have any hope of doing another season or two.
R268, it must be sloppy writing then. When you think about it, Ben is very underdeveloped as a character. If there is a season 3, I hope they age them up bit because it's not believable to be honest.

Michael Cimino had more chemistry with the guy playing Rakim than he does with George's Benji. Though that might be because Benji remains a kinda poorly defined character.
by Anonymous | reply 273 | June 13, 2021 9:23 PM |
Yeah cause Rahim saying "yes queen" and talking about stuff from a coffee shop like "shes feeling...." means hes a defined character. He talks like drag queen. He was a stereotype.
Though that might be because Benji remains a kinda poorly defined character.
which wouldn't be an issue if Benji had more screen time to play up his story arc. He is still Victor's (lead storyline) main love interest. He shouldn't be a side story to Mia/Andre/Lake.
I think they screwed George either way because Rahim [bold]does[/bold] have a more compelling arc with Victor. It has to be said, the two actors have much more chemistry together. Victor and Rahim's kiss was probably the best part of the whole finale episode.
by Anonymous | reply 275 | June 13, 2021 9:38 PM |
I am at least happy Cimino and Sears had much more believable gay physical intimacy this season. In their big kiss last year I felt like I was watching two straight guys kiss, but this season it was much improved.
by Anonymous | reply 276 | June 13, 2021 10:02 PM |
Nope, Episode 8 opening scenes...Benji is pounding Victor and we actually see Victor's legs up. GO BENJI!! Yaaasss! I don't see any chemistry with Rahim. In fact when he kisses Victor, Victor just stands there barely responding. Nothing happening here. Plus I was pissed off that after he told Benji who shows up when they're dancing, "Nothing happened he's just a friend!" After that Rahim goes in for the kiss and insists more is going on. I didn't like that at all.
Sorry I love Benji. When Victor first kissed Benji in Season 1 at the motel, at first Benji kissed back, I remember how he reached for Victor's arm but then he said no! He transferred to another job and told Victor it was wrong because he had a boyfriend. So Benji has a code of honor. I trust Benji. I do not trust Rahim...and frankly I'm keeping my eye on Victor who may turn into the boy who can't say no. Also I am not buying the story about his Muslim parents not minding he is Gay. Bullshit.
I didn't like that at all
That you like it or not is irrelevant. The actors playing Rehim and Victor have chemistry. The show cannot take it back now. They have exposed us to this possibility while not developing Ben's character better.
Just going by youtube, look at how much more compelling Victor and Benji look when they are given the time and focus on their relationship. It's fantastic! But going by the comments and reviews these moments are few and far between. As I said before, trim the cast and focus on the Love triangle.
by Anonymous | reply 278 | June 13, 2021 10:50 PM |
Benji’s hair is the true star of the show. Absolutely glorious.
He’s quite the Casanova to be only 16-ish. In the game they played he revealed he’d already had sex with more than three people, and that was pre-Victor.
by Anonymous | reply 279 | June 13, 2021 10:56 PM |
I'm glad they read DL, because it was here that many people said Bebe Wood was the best thing about this show and that we wanted to see her hooking up with a girl, specially since Becky Albertalli is bi so it's only fitting.
I'll probably gonna watch this show for her and Victor's sister. It is irritating Michael Cimino can't even kiss a guy without closed lips, it's ridiculous, but we already knew this, that's what happens when you cast pseudo-straight actors to play gay and bi. Look at Ronen Rubinstein and Rafael Silva making out, even before coming out, Ronen was full on that.
Overall this series is a disappointment, but I'll support it, maybe in the future they will listen to us and not give a gay show to straight creators and actors, because the authenticity goes under. Say what you will about Ryan Murphy but his gay characters actually make out like they enjoy that.
by Anonymous | reply 280 | June 14, 2021 3:01 AM |
Victor remains acting like a stock character rather than a human, everyone around him is more interesting than him.
This is what happens with well intended people who can't grasp the nuances of a character. Becky's book with a lesbian/bi plot also in this universe is very flashed out and real, because she's writing about herself being bi.
This is a story about a masculine gay jock realizing himself, why not hire a fucking gay writer who plays sports and went through this?
Do you see where we're going from here? They're turning this show about the gay jock into a show about a femme guy shaming others because people dislike the way he acts. In real life, Victor would do to that Muslim what the blond masculine guy (real life gay actor from Australia) did to the fem kid.
I was gay and played sports in high school and could have written this episode. That purple hair shit, what was that about? Nothing that Victor goes through is genuine, because they hired an effeminate gay guy to supervise a story about a masculine gay jock. There are gay jocks who are comedy writers, I know two from UCB and Groundlings. Why not hire the people you are trying to represent? It gets me fucking mad.
Sorry, end of rant, this show really gets me mad. It has so much potential.

R281 Again, because it's written for the kind of people who post on social media.
by Anonymous | reply 282 | June 14, 2021 3:28 AM |
R280, they were filming during COVID. I understand why Michael didn't open his mouth. They were getting tested every two or three days, wearing face shields when not in the scene, masks, etc. and the actors were joking about how every single kiss or whatever demanded a gargle with Listerine mouthwash. Cast and crew were scrupulous about maintaining distance, and masking and they shot it scared because if even one person in the cast or crew tested positive they would have to shut down production. They also went with the smallest possible crew they could have to work with them. And the Actors pretty much quarantined with one another to be able to do their scenes. George was joking about being locked in with Michael for weeks. They said the "bonded." I wonder if the rehearsed....

I love the title to this thread. Promises made, promises kept!
Thought it was a bold move to show the lube, though I kind of wish they went the next step and had one of them reaching for it before they faded out of the cabin sex scene. I do think they should have found a subtle way to reference the need to "prep" for gay sex a little more. I worry that gaylings are going to watch those two scenes thinking that spontaneous anal is a good idea and end up with a nasty surprise.

The announced Season 2 in August after Season 1 came out in June so I'm hoping we will know by Mid August. I read something on one of the twitter accounts by someone connected to the show that they want people to actually log in to HULU or which ever platform it it shows on outside the U.S. and watch it. Even if you have to spend $5.99 for a couple of months to watch it multiple times on HULU. They said the more legitimate views they get the more likely it will get renewed. They also asked that people please don't pirate the show because that could get it cancelled.
by Anonymous | reply 286 | June 14, 2021 11:19 AM |
R283 Bullshit excuses. If either of them were positive, then just being close and breathing each other's air would've been enough to infect the other. And as you said, they were tested and quarantining together. So, no, it's just straight actors being uptight.
by Anonymous | reply 287 | June 14, 2021 6:55 PM |
Maybe Cimino is just a stiff kisser even with girls. Not everyone kisses the same and there is some passion in their kissing scenes.
by Anonymous | reply 288 | June 14, 2021 7:03 PM |

I've posted on the Lucas Hamilton thread, this is the scene of Rahim or whatever the fuck is his name, being rejected by his masculine gay date. At 2:03
Let's just ignore for a second these two never bothered to videochat before meeting up and of course let's ignore reality and pretend that Victor wouldn't do the same to him in real life.
It would be a much more realistic situation if Victor actually hooked up with Rahim's date than him.
by Anonymous | reply 291 | June 14, 2021 8:28 PM |
I don't like Rahim. Not because he's femme. More like because I think he's shady. I think he's been going after Victor for a while sort of trying to break up him and Benji. He's a shit stirrer. I also don't like him because of the way he threw the race card culture thing in the mix telling Victor Benji could never understand, because he's white. How much Victor and Rahim love their families. And you know he was lying his ass off. If they want to be real, in Season 3, Rahim will c all Victor from the hospital and tell him that his father and brother and some random guys from the mosque lured him into a trap and beat his ass and told him next time they'd kill him. Plus I just don't like his appearance. I don't think he's attractive.
by Anonymous | reply 292 | June 14, 2021 9:10 PM |
I think Rahim is a cute guy bit when he told Victor he never meant to come in between them I called bullshit. I dont know if they meant him to come off shady but with all the things he said to Victor he did.

by Anonymous | reply 295 | June 14, 2021 11:51 PM |
I like Victor and Rahim together but it’s kind of like Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black—two bottoms bumping bussies. It takes Benji’s love machine to truly make Victor purr.
by Anonymous | reply 296 | June 14, 2021 11:54 PM |
All the people commenting to vote for Rahim are calling people racists if they dont. Twitter is vile and immature but that's not new information.

I’m pissed that they have a gay, Iranian, Muslim character and they couldn’t find a Iranian actor (a dime a dozen in LA) to play the part.
I know of two Muslim gay guys who families were totally supportive when they came out. So, it happens. Besides, the parents would have to be mentally challenged, not to realize that someone who acts like Rahim was is gay
by Anonymous | reply 298 | June 15, 2021 2:06 AM |
R298 Anthony Keyvan who plays Rahim is half Iranian and half Filipino.
by Anonymous | reply 299 | June 15, 2021 2:10 AM |
It's not that his parents are Muslim r298, it's that they were said to be very traditional and strict Muslims.
There are plenty of muslims who are not more secular and it isn't surprising they would accept their kid, but Rahim's introduction was all about how fundamentalist his family was.
by Anonymous | reply 300 | June 15, 2021 2:15 AM |
I just finished episode 5. So far Victor and Benji’s storyline is being swallowed up by the supporting straight characters’ bullshit.
I know I’m only half way through but why does it feel like the writers are so hesitant to make the gay protagonist and his boyfriend the true stars of this gay teen drama?
I do love Felix though

I agree that Benji has never felt like a real high school student r302. I mean his big secret this season about being in AA and having meet with his sponsor...and the writers want us to believe this character is 16? It just has never felt right.

I completely agree. Is he meant to have developed alcoholism, got a DUI, and gone to AA all when he was 14/15? Makes no sense. Most kids are playing Fortnite at that age. Just annoying how they completely messed up making him a believable 16 year old.

Yes, what what was that apartment Simon was supposed to be calling from. That would be a super expensive apartment in NY that Simon would never be able to afford. I did appreciate when we saw him last season they had him living in Brooklyn with several roommates.

Just binge-watched the show (wanted to get it over with to move on to Elite's fourth season).
Regarding Isabel being ok with Rahim while resenting Benji. To me, it looks like a typical (this guy's a) bottom vs. top kind of deal where Isabel, while already struggling with her son being gay, had also a separate struggle with Victor being a bottom in the relationship with Benji. Usually that's something assigned to the dad (dear God, I raised a gay bottom! My son takes dick up his ass!). With Benji there was the sexy or sexual component, while with Rahim it was the fun and camp appeal. I think at that stage of season two, Isabel still had an issue with gay sex and Victor's part in that. I loved that Ana Ortiz was able to play something so completely different from her Ugly Betty character. And that final moment with the priest, "I'm not giving up on God, I'm giving up on you!" was amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 319 | June 15, 2021 5:37 PM |
No, R315 but they both show a lot of skin even a quick shot of their bodies, legs tangled and Benji's arm going under his ass like the moment when he slides his dick in. . And Michael's bare knees are up with George between them rockin' it. Then Ugly Isabel burst in and looks horrified. If it had been me, I'd have said, "Give me a minute here, 'K?" I loved how Victor shouted at her, "Get out! Get out!" Now she knows. He precious baby is REALLY Gay, and he takes it up the ass and he loves it. Man the look on Victor's face. Benji's kneeling over him, he smiles and it's bliss, and sits up and stats helps Benji do his jeans. Then, his eyes closed, arms wrapped around Benji and his mouth opened like he was in ecstasy. Great scene.
by Anonymous | reply 320 | June 15, 2021 5:42 PM |
Yes they didn't say that directly but it was very purposeful in the scene where Victor's mom freak outs it's not just that she saw him having sex, it's that she saw him *bottoming*.
by Anonymous | reply 321 | June 15, 2021 5:52 PM |
To be honest, I thought the storyline with Lake telling her mom about Felix's mom would involve Lake's mom ambushing Felix and his mom with a camera team to exploit them for a story. Leslie Grossman's character was surprisingly kind and civil despite all the horror stories Lake tells about her mom.

I've just noticed, rewatching it that Benji actually kisses Victor all the way but Victor keeps shutting his mouth, maybe this is a deliberate choice from Cimino? It does make sense, though it could be a Shelter situation, where the two leads can't try hard enough to seem straight at an otherwise great gay film.

r351, I love Elite and can't wait for the fourth season. However, I think both Elite and Love, Victor are not necessarily aimed at the exactly same crowd. Right from the start Elite, even though it features teens in school, feels more gritty and more adult and, well, European (duh!). Love, Victor is an American teen family drama series. American shows, especially those part of the Disney Family media entertainment, are not as explicit as, say, Netflix's Elite.
Sure, Love, Victor was moved to Hulu for its second season, and it did show the leads make out, but I highly doubt the show would ever get as explicit as Elite. Mainly because it's an American show that isn't on premium cable (like HBO's Euphoria).

by Anonymous | reply 369 | June 17, 2021 3:02 AM |
Interesting that Michael is getting death threats from the left for playing gay. Anyone here remember if there were death threats from the right for playing gay roles in Hollywood history? Or were there other kinds of backlash but no death threats?
by Anonymous | reply 370 | June 17, 2021 3:28 AM |
Death threats = some rando purple haired teen on instagram calling him names.
by Anonymous | reply 371 | June 17, 2021 6:34 AM |
Looks like some on Twitter are not having it about Michael claiming that he received death threats and saying that Michael just needs to shut up because he took a job away from an lgbtq+ actor.
by Anonymous | reply 372 | June 17, 2021 7:11 AM |
Michael should've come out as bi or queer, even if it's not true, to appease the fanatics who believe every gay role has to be played by someone from the LGBTQ Community.
by Anonymous | reply 373 | June 17, 2021 7:15 AM |
Well, it’s true. Many on this forum have the same complaint (that the actors are straight). So why do you have a issue specifically with Twitter users who have broadcasted the complaint?
by Anonymous | reply 374 | June 17, 2021 11:12 AM |
If you look at the iconic Simon-Bram ferris wheel kiss, they’re both opening their lips and giving it their all.
Nick Robinson was enough of a professional to really want to nail this scene (and it’s probably one of the best gay kissing scenes in all of cinema). No disrespect to Michael Cimino and George Sear, but they could try a bit harder. They’re not gonna catch gay cooties if they kiss properly.

From what I read it seems like the producers and the director were doing all kinds of things for safety during their shoot because of COVID. Now whether or not these were necessary or even effective, they were part of the protocols. They had a crew member in every scene with a bottle of Listerine and a spitting cup. Sear said his tongue actually got numb from all the mouthwash. Every take, they had to rinse and repeat. I can understand if that might effect the performance. It might not even be conscious but it is a distraction. I thought he did a good job with his kissing.
by Anonymous | reply 376 | June 17, 2021 2:37 PM |
Yeah, I believe COVID screwed a lot of productions, and they couldn't fully deliver what they wanted. But, under the circumstances, I think Love Victor did give the viewer a lot more in season two than in season one which was shot for Disney+.

Anthony Keyvan who plays Rahim says that he originally auditioned for the role of Victor when the show was a pilot. Anthony says that it eventually came down to him and another guy plus Michael.
Michael Cimino has said the auditioned for a role on HSMTS that ended up going to Joshua Bassett.
by Anonymous | reply 382 | June 17, 2021 5:58 PM |
Joshua Bassett or Angela Bassett?
by Anonymous | reply 383 | June 17, 2021 6:00 PM |
Hilarious seeing the amount of excuses people make for this show. If covid was that much of a concern then they shouldn't have been shooting so close together at all. So what's your next excuse? Let me guess the "death threats"?

BS. All the straight couples have realistic kisses, STFU. Thats the only reason people get pissed at non gays or closet cases (like these two) playing gay. Josh Segarra is straight and his scenes with Rupaul on that series are realistic, there's passion and actual kiss.

Can you imagined this kid playing a jock? Some people are just beyond clueless. Mark my words, this show is not about the guilt trip of a jock fucking a femme. Pathetic. Probably will be worth if for Bebe Wood lezing out.

Anthony Keyvan says that after getting the role of Rahim that he called up a good friend of his who has been out since 9th grade to explain everything to him about what it means to be queer in high school. Anthony also said that EP Brian Cannon wrote the episode where Rahim gets rejected for being too femme because that had happened to him irl.
by Anonymous | reply 389 | June 17, 2021 9:44 PM |
Well so he has that Gay friend who explained being Gay in high school to him? Is this friend a son from a devout Muslin family . You talk to a Gay fiend and accumulate anecdotes that give you performance authenticity? Sheesh. God I hate this kind of shit. Anthony K looks like he should be in episode of The Walking Dead. He looks cadaverous.
by Anonymous | reply 390 | June 17, 2021 9:58 PM |
Anthony Keyvan must be gay right? Don't know why he won't be open about it, it would be nice for there to be a openly gay member of the cast. Sad if in a show meant to embrace coming out, he is hiding in the closet.
by Anonymous | reply 391 | June 17, 2021 10:06 PM |
If Keyvan isn’t gay then he’s a very good actor.
by Anonymous | reply 392 | June 17, 2021 10:10 PM |
Cause he is acting flamboyant? No slight to him and there are lots of gay guys who are like that but hes playing a specific type of gay man. I guess that's impressive?
by Anonymous | reply 393 | June 17, 2021 10:27 PM |
R393, he’s just a very good actor. This isn’t like Eric Stonestreet on Modern Family. He feels very authentic.
by Anonymous | reply 394 | June 17, 2021 10:35 PM |
Anthony has also said that when he was shown Rahim's wardrobe that it also helped him in developing the character.

R396, that was cute. “George, do you want to go swimming?”
by Anonymous | reply 397 | June 17, 2021 10:47 PM |
R387 I mean, they went with Cimino so obviously their definition of jock is very wide (as were Michael's legs during casting, one assumes)
by Anonymous | reply 398 | June 18, 2021 12:29 AM |
Watching Anthony's interview when he is not in character, damn he seems Gay.
by Anonymous | reply 399 | June 18, 2021 12:31 AM |
Straight people writing a gay show, will result in this mess. Full of unauthentic situations and characters. I still ask this team: how many gay jocks do you have in your writer's room?
by Anonymous | reply 400 | June 18, 2021 12:37 AM |
Exactly r399. It's not some acting choice, that's his normal mannerisms. But he keeps talking about the LGBT community as an other, definitely trying to give the impression he is straight in the interviews I saw.
by Anonymous | reply 401 | June 18, 2021 12:40 AM |
No way Anthony Keyvan is straight.
by Anonymous | reply 402 | June 19, 2021 1:12 AM |
R398 Cimino is a believable jock. You don’t need to have caveman mannerisms and voice to be a jock. He just seems earnest and comes across as a sweet kid, which is what they were looking for.

I am surprised I liked Benji in that cabin episode because he gets to be in charge. George is just not right for playing a high schooler with "problems". He would be hotter playing a college guy seducing Victor. Seeing him going to high school just doesn't work for me. The rest of the season was okay. Felix is a scene-stealer and oddly dorky sexy but the whole drama with his mom was so over the top, and while he and Lake are cute together and have good chemistry, it's nothing we haven't seen many times before in teen soaps. Rahim was not as femme as I thought he would be from reading this thread. Other than the painted fingernails and the way he talks, there's nothing too extreme.
by Anonymous | reply 408 | June 22, 2021 11:28 AM |
R408 completely agree. He’s doesn’t read like a high schooler with problems, he reads like a hot college boy seducing a younger guy. He’s already been in AA, supposedly having developed alcoholism at 14, been in a serious gay relationship undone by adult-esque intimacy issues, and comes across as super confident and self possessed despite all that. He’s a college undergraduate, AT LEAST.

^^ Most "teen shows" are written by middle age gay men. Dawson Creekish, Gilmore Girlish blab fests. Every emotion is articulated in self aware soliloquies that make 16 yo characters played by 25 yo actors sound like 50 yo who have been in analysis for 30 years.

by Anonymous | reply 411 | June 23, 2021 4:07 AM |
The last episode is so WTF. Felix is so not right for the sister whose name I can't remember. If Lake goes lesbo, it would be with Mia not some cater waitress. And there just wasn't enough development for a real triangle to justify that cliffhanger. Rahim suddenly declaring his feelings for Victor was so plot-driven and Victor next even gave that possibility a thought until the very end. Finally, Nick Robinson should never be allowed to go on camera with that beard. Hard to imagine Simon as young and in college after that.

Michael is in Atlanta with Molly Brown, a lesbian, and two Gay guys, and they are all around the same age, 19, 20, 21, 22, and a couple of other girls and guys. and they're drinking and partying on Tik Tok. I'm beginning to think Michael may really be gender fluid. I guess they're just letting off steam and having fun for the 4th of July weekend. There's nothing sinister or seedy about it. In fact they all look kind of tame.

I have a feeling just from stalking Victor and his friends on Instagram, that he is getting more and more "flexible" about exploring his sexuality. I think George has already been though that phase since he is 2-3 yeas older than Michael. I do believe George is straight. Not picking up anything else for him. Michael OTOH, is "fluid."

by Anonymous | reply 432 | July 8, 2021 1:01 AM |
R432, let's hope the LV writers watched Young Royals and leaned something. Because I swear if Michael and George, with all their chemistry had half the storyline this show has they would be the most iconic couple ever. To say the Young Royals weren't Hollywood pretty is an understatement. Ugh! That bad skin was very distracting.

by Anonymous | reply 438 | July 8, 2021 11:02 PM |
The showunners are gonna have to do better. I get it, they kissed a lot. But realistically, there was only one scene I recall where they were making out in Benji's bedroom, and in mid kiss, Benji went for the gold, he very smoothly unzipped Victor's fly, and would have reached in if his father had not interrupted, and Victor had to cover himself with Nana's blanket. In the storeroom at work WTF was Victor pulling Benji's T-shit off? They should have been grinding on one another, rubbing one another's bare asses, etc. And at this point they should have been doing blow jobs. It's been a few months. Also, with a little imagination they could have found places to get it on. I mean, they went to the park with Felix and Lake. In that kind of set up the couples split up for a minute and take care of some business. Benji was the assistant manage of the cafe. He had keys. They went there after hours or they stayed to clean up after closing. It isn't as difficult as it would seem.
