Type O has better protection against the Coronavirus developing into SARS apparently. I've used two Eldon cards and I still can't tell for certain my blood type but it looks like possibly A positive.
My blood type mirrors my philosophy... B+ 😉

O negative.

We typed our own blood in first year college biology. I guess schools can't be bothered doing such stuff now.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 15, 2020 8:57 AM |
The differences in coronavirus contraction by blood type are too ridiculously small to bother.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 15, 2020 8:58 AM |
It is the risk of contracted Coronavirus developing into SARS pneumonia, that is significant R4
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 15, 2020 9:04 AM |
r5 23andme also found that type O was less likely to contract Covid, but as you can see in the graph at r4, the differences are, in fact, risibly small. They're, however, significant because the sample size is huge -- 750,000 people.
That's why people shouldn't let themselves be fooled by terms such as "significant". Even negligible differences can become significant if you have a large enough sample size.

Type O might be less likely to die from Covid 19 but mosquitos like them best.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 15, 2020 9:12 AM |
O- along with 9% of the population. The universal donor.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 15, 2020 9:21 AM |
Donate blood. They'll tell you your blood type and if you have COVID antibodies
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 15, 2020 9:26 AM |
O negative.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 15, 2020 10:12 AM |
Thanks R9
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 15, 2020 10:31 AM |
I only remember that it was the second most popular type in 1980, in the USA.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 15, 2020 11:02 AM |
O Positive, here. Now fully recovered from COVID infection although it never progressed to pneumonia.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 15, 2020 11:08 AM |
B something
Granny had to choose between her life and her child's back in the day.
That RH factor thing.
She already had 5 children to take care of.

by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 15, 2020 11:16 AM |
O-positive and no Coronavirus but I am also working from home and have only done curbside pickup.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 15, 2020 11:30 AM |
O positive.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 15, 2020 11:30 AM |
You realize this is a gay board r9? Gay men are generally barred from donating blood.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 15, 2020 11:59 AM |
O negative. Lots of O here. Perhaps there's a correlation between O and gay.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 15, 2020 12:00 PM |
NFI. And we still aren't allowed to donate blood in the country I live in.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 15, 2020 12:05 PM |
0+. Typed in high school biology, freshman year. Was disappointed that it wasn't something more rare.

[quote]Perhaps there's a correlation between O and gay.
O is the most common blood type, so yes, larger numbers of type Os means larger numbers of gays (and everything else) by proportion.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 15, 2020 4:43 PM |
O+ as well.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 15, 2020 4:58 PM |
0- here. Have an appointment to donate next Sunday. I'm on the Red Cross speed dial also as they start calling the next day after I'm eligible after last donation
They're testing for Covid antibodies now, so that's additional incentive.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 15, 2020 5:02 PM |
Where are all the rest of the type As???
A- here.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 15, 2020 5:06 PM |
Some old lady in Dollar General was just talking about this. She was a talker.
Aside, why to flea meds for dogs no longer work???!!! ugh!
I was in there for flea spray.

O neg. Was typed when I went into the Army.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 15, 2020 6:36 PM |
O+. I too learned this in school.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 15, 2020 6:42 PM |
I'm also part of the O+ group.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 15, 2020 6:47 PM |
B+, with a high anti-A titer. When I was a medic in the service, I was forever donating blood for newborns. I forget the specific problem the babies had, but my type was just what they needed. Used to watch them get directly transfused, from that point on I felt that donating blood was a very special thing and never understood why more people didn't do it.
r21 Don't feel bad, you might have some super-duper rare antibody floating around inside you.

[quote] You realize this is a gay board [R9]? Gay men are generally barred from donating blood.
Sorry. I'm a wimp and I've never, ever considered giving blood. So the ban isn't even on my radar
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 15, 2020 9:33 PM |
AB+ which is a bit rare, they tell me.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 15, 2020 10:09 PM |
[quote]I'm on the Red Cross speed dial also as they start calling the next day after I'm eligible after last donation
Do they request politely when they call? Or is it like this:
*ring**ring**ring*
Me: Yah!
Vampira, Head Nursing Sister, Red Cross, Melbourne, Vic., Oz: Hi. Could you come down in about an hour? We've had a heavy weekend and we're getting rather low on O.
Me: Do you realize it's fucking 5 o'clock in the morning?????
Vampira: Is it? See you in an hour then. Ta!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 16, 2020 4:00 AM |
B-
A large portion on my mother's paternal side is AB-, my mother included. My father was O+ I am the mutation. Every time I go in for a check up, my doctor tries to shame me into donating because its a rare blood type.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 16, 2020 4:16 AM |
AB+ as well. I'm special.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 16, 2020 4:24 AM |
