Sexual harrassment! Sexual assault! Inappropriate tweeting!
"The Flash" actor Hartley Sawyer fired after racist, sexist tweets resurface
by Anonymous | reply 279 | March 20, 2021 5:15 PM |
What were the homophobic tweets? And why don't these people wipe their accounts when they get their big break?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 8, 2020 6:13 PM |
Oh, well. I guess OnlyFans is the next stop for Hartley.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 8, 2020 6:15 PM |
If he's joking about sexual assault, they had zero choice.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 8, 2020 6:16 PM |
Wordy, semi-comprehensible apology. I think I remember reading his Tweets when he was one of the seven thousand Adam Newmans on Y&R and vaguely recall thinking somebody from upstairs should talk to that dude about his content. No actor's Twitter account should tell you anything about who they actually are.
As Charlotte Kensington said: People like to buy the fantasy.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 8, 2020 6:19 PM |
He can get a job on the Tracey Morgan show. Those producers obviously don't care what you've said in the past.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 8, 2020 6:20 PM |
Where are the homophobic tweets?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 8, 2020 6:22 PM |
HS was never Adam Newman.
I think he was Kyle Abbott.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 8, 2020 6:23 PM |
Where are the photos of his nips? I need to see them before I can totally write him off.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 8, 2020 6:24 PM |
Why do all of the articles only focus on the boob and masturbate tweets?
His RACIST and HOMOPHOBIC tweets are far worse!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 8, 2020 6:25 PM |
R4 He played Kyle Abbott. Strangely all the teen/adult Kyle Abbotts except for Blake Hood have been alleged to be gay with Lachlan Buchanan the only one among them to actually come out as gay.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 8, 2020 6:29 PM |
She really is r7. Damn.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 8, 2020 6:32 PM |
Hate these 4chan douches who think they're so EdGy.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 8, 2020 6:33 PM |
You KNOW he's just like James Spader's character on Seinfeld who really wasn't repentant at all.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 8, 2020 6:34 PM |
Is he related to Justin Hartley?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 8, 2020 6:37 PM |

Oh, yeah. Skai Jackson is the one who's fucked up. Yeah, Skai Jackson. (You LOONS!)
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 8, 2020 6:37 PM |
Those tweets are over five years old. CW is just finding out about them now? And what sort of moron management allows him to keep these up?
Some of those tweets are beyond scary. He had to go.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 8, 2020 6:38 PM |
Butt brothers, R16.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 8, 2020 6:38 PM |
R18, if you clicked on R7, you would see that someone on Twitter dredged up those Tweets.
Who knows why CW didn't vet him better.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 8, 2020 6:39 PM |
The pathetic part is the tweets generally don't make much sense
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 8, 2020 6:44 PM |
He's to white to get away with homophobia. Only someone like Kevin Hart can get away with it.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 8, 2020 6:44 PM |
Talking about the FAGS!!!!!!!!
And the BOOBS!!!!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 8, 2020 6:45 PM |
I don’t think his career should be destroyed because he made some jokes years ago that people today find offensive. People today find everything offensive.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 8, 2020 6:45 PM |
[quote]As a lad, one of my favorite activities was kidnapping homeless women and cutting off their breasts
He's a psycho. That isn't edgy; it's perverse.
What is funny is that the person who posted the tweets is a fellow actor. Skai Jackson she's on a Disney series.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 8, 2020 6:47 PM |
He didn't post that garbage in 1972. Anybody with any common sense would find that offensive.
In any even I doubt they aren firing him because of what he said. They're firing for fear everybody with common sense finds him offensive and he no longer sells.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 8, 2020 6:49 PM |
He plays a guy who stretches on a comic book show no one watches yet someone who reports the news with a public platform like Joy Reid gets to stay on the air. What a fucking world we live in.

Racist at R26 alert!

A world in which it's acceptable to end sentences on prepositions, apparently.

It’s a shame when true colors are exposed. I’ve adored this guy since June strummed her lady harp to him in Apt. 23 and he charmed the proper ladies as Bozeman Peacham on GCB. He was involved in animal rescue which made me think he was evolved in some way.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 8, 2020 7:13 PM |
He probably rescues the animals so that he can torture them later.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 8, 2020 7:15 PM |

June fantasizes about Soy Latte Guy (Sawyer) while masturbating in the tub. The fantasizing part is eluding me.

Social media will be the destruction of us all.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 8, 2020 7:28 PM |
Agreed, r36. As a species, we lack the maturity and critical thinking skills required to use the tools effectively.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 8, 2020 7:32 PM |
his character was irrelevant and the main cast has too many people instead of focusing on the actual main character. good ridance, he won't be missed
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 8, 2020 7:44 PM |
He was the 2nd hottest Kyle Abbott after Lachlan Buchanan.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 8, 2020 7:48 PM |
[Quote] the main cast has too many people instead of focusing on the actual main character
Did the lead actor want a reduced schedule?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 8, 2020 7:54 PM |
no, this is his only project. the producers simply decided to make the main cast bigger and bigger every season and there's constant b plots that have nothing to do with the flash and instead focus on his sidekicks
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 8, 2020 7:57 PM |
I was thinking that it was another cancel fest on twitter for a bad joke or something like that but some of his tweets are indeed disturbing
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 8, 2020 8:01 PM |
Even his name is douchey.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 8, 2020 8:06 PM |
You just know this Sawyer Hartley person describes himself as having "a big personality."
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 8, 2020 8:06 PM |
R44: Generally that means "i'm a big jerk"
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 8, 2020 8:08 PM |
[quote]The tweets, all from before he joined The CW series, make references to sexual assault and contain racist and homophobic language.
What a fucking stupid piece of shit to write this stuff on social media. And I’m sure there were some dumb gays that slobbered over this basic looking white guy.
Note to gays: quit worshipping straight men!
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 8, 2020 8:12 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 55 | June 8, 2020 10:11 PM |
the godzilla tweet happened when there was that polluted water crisis in flint
by Anonymous | reply 57 | June 8, 2020 11:51 PM |
Well a few fans are now upset and say he shouldn't have been fired and claim that both Grant and Melissa have skeletons in their closet that they should hope never gets out.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | June 9, 2020 12:09 PM |
Who is Melissa?
by Anonymous | reply 59 | June 9, 2020 12:13 PM |
Supergirl.
What secrets could Grant have?
by Anonymous | reply 60 | June 9, 2020 12:16 PM |
How old was he when he made these jokes? The shit I used to say in high school would have me arrested now. I was dumb, immature, but thought I was funny.
I'm obviously also now lazy, because I'm sure the age/time of the tweets is in the article, but that would require too much effort.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | June 9, 2020 12:22 PM |
58 like what?? Melissa cheating with Chris isn't new. And she's already had her nudes leaked.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | June 9, 2020 12:27 PM |
the oldest tweets are from when he was 26, and the more recent ones he was 30.
the skeletons on grant's closet is his cheating habits. his current wife was his mistress. the girl he was dating at that time was supporting him while he was unemployed, then he started cheating on her and eventually dumped her to be with this one. idk about melissa. idk if she cheated on blake with chris or not. she divorced blake after years of physical abuse and it's possible she was separated by the time she got with chris
by Anonymous | reply 63 | June 9, 2020 12:30 PM |
I was going to say we've all seen plenty of pics of Benoist taking cock in her mouth, ass and cooch.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | June 9, 2020 12:31 PM |
Yes, but we’re still waiting for the pictures of Grant taking cock in his mouth and ass.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 9, 2020 12:33 PM |
the fandom is heavily split in 2. half is defending hartley saying it's just jokes and that he shouldn't have been fired for it. the others are in full agreement of the firing and want danielle, who is a closet case racist, even dated a white supremacist years ago, to be next. but danielle doesn't have as much public dirt and isn't as direct in her racism. it's mostly shit from interviews from the past years constantly undermining the black actress that plays iris and acting like she's the female lead. which isn't something that'll get her fired
by Anonymous | reply 66 | June 9, 2020 12:38 PM |
Intolerant, Puritan America meets communication technology meets social outrage.

[Quote] idk if she cheated on blake with chris or not. she divorced blake after years of physical abuse and it's possible she was separated by the time she got with chris
It's pretty obvious that they both cheated on their significant others. But in Melissa's case, I don't blame her after what Blake did.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | June 9, 2020 12:43 PM |
R62 a couple of those "fans" claim that there may be homophobic and racist comments in Grant and Melissa past on top of other things. Yeah r63 it was basically known on the Flash set that Grant was cheating on his ex-girlfriend with the now wife.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | June 9, 2020 12:43 PM |
So if Danielle doesn't like Candace that means she's racist ? I've met both at conventions. Danielle was very nice, Candace not so much. Guess that makes me a racist. The part I find hardest to believe is that the character of Iris has fans. She's a terrible character.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | June 9, 2020 12:46 PM |
Where are these alleged tweets by Grant and Melissa?
by Anonymous | reply 71 | June 9, 2020 12:46 PM |
The fans would much rather have Danielle be the lead female over Iris.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | June 9, 2020 12:46 PM |
This is what happens when unfunny, "Good looking" people with sociopathic tendencies are constantly told that they're funny by people who want to fuck them.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | June 9, 2020 12:47 PM |
Grant's statement about Hartley said "word's matter". I guess the words he said to his girlfriend while he was cheating on her are the exception.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | June 9, 2020 12:48 PM |
Does Danielle hate closeted Mexican Carlos Fagdez?
by Anonymous | reply 75 | June 9, 2020 12:48 PM |
R74 thinks cheating is the same as racism, sexism and homophobia.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | June 9, 2020 12:49 PM |
R76 First of all. jokes. He tweeted jokes. Any proof that this spelt over into how he actually lived his life ? Second, if you claim that the words you use matter, it applies to all context, yes, even betraying your partner.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | June 9, 2020 12:53 PM |
[Quote] The part I find hardest to believe is that the character of Iris has fans. She's a terrible character.
It's not just Iris. Lotsof black characters from the Arrowverse have had racist fans attack them (James, Sophie, Kelly).
by Anonymous | reply 78 | June 9, 2020 12:57 PM |
R67 said it perfectly.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | June 9, 2020 12:59 PM |
R77 is a total Trumper.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | June 9, 2020 1:00 PM |
r77 cheating is not a reason to be fired - unless it affects the show somehow (very messy, scandalous). I work in PR. I tell clients all the time, never tweet or post anything you don't want your grandmother to see. Just like nudes. It is common sense most people don't understand. In the age of the internet assume everything you write, post, or send could be compromised or dug up.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | June 9, 2020 1:01 PM |
I must've missed those jokes R77.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | June 9, 2020 1:01 PM |
R77 worships minstrel Ellen and Kevin Hart.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | June 9, 2020 1:03 PM |
You know who really has to be pissed?
The actress playing Sue. No Ralph, no Sue.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | June 9, 2020 1:19 PM |
I have watched The Flash since the beginning and have been thinking about calling it quits.
The character of Barry is just awful he has two modes: mopey or self-righteous - just an awful take on the character. The first season was so much fun it's just been downer after down after downer. Honestly, the supporting cast has been much better - Hartley, Danielle, Carlos - I actually find the characters somewhat engaging. And of course Jesse L. Martin who I would watch in almost anything - but maybe it is time to call it quits.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | June 9, 2020 1:26 PM |
R71 I haven't seen any other than mentions of supposedly several Supergirl cast members including Melissa at some event made fun of a gay person there.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | June 9, 2020 1:33 PM |
r85 I agree. Every other scene is someone walking into a room to give someone else a pep talk. First season was great. New villain each week and waiting to see what the tag scene would be. So boring. Legends and now Stargirl are the only ones a enjoy watching.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | June 9, 2020 1:48 PM |
Stargirl is fantastic!
JSA!!!!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 88 | June 9, 2020 2:03 PM |
R88 Agree. Never thought there would be a live action version of the female Wildcat. Loved her in the long forgotten comic Infinity, Inc. Of course she was murdered some years later.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | June 9, 2020 2:11 PM |
the flash went downhill with s2. must've been using the same writers as s1 legends, because after s1 legends has been amazing and it's just completely different from the other arrowverse shows. filler episodes on shows like the flash can be infuriating because they're just completely sidetracking from the main story to do something else for the sake of hitting the 20+ episode mark. with legends, the filler episodes fell like a regular episode and they're still fun to watch. iirc the flash is guaranteed to get up to s7. but it's going the exact same route as arrow, so they should just end it. there's only so many times where you can write barry as being unable to run faster than everyone else. supergirl s1 was great, loved it and was bummed when cbs cancelled it. the cw picked it up and turned it to complete trash
by Anonymous | reply 90 | June 9, 2020 2:33 PM |
Agree about Supergirl. Loved it on CBS with Calista but it's more miss than hit. Love how they just drop characters with no explanation like Peter Facinelli's Maxwell Lord or Adrian Pasdar's Morgan Edge
by Anonymous | reply 91 | June 9, 2020 2:43 PM |
any character on s1 that didn't go to s2 was because of the actors. peter and calista weren't interested in moving to vancouver to film. the 1st season was l.a. based but the cw films everything in canada, and the actors had no interest in returning to move to another country
by Anonymous | reply 92 | June 9, 2020 2:45 PM |
Can’t they just easily recast with another actor who looks good without a shirt?
by Anonymous | reply 93 | June 9, 2020 2:46 PM |
I know but they never even mentioned Maxwell Lord again
by Anonymous | reply 94 | June 9, 2020 2:47 PM |
[R93] ralph can be replaced because his character can change his appearance due to his powers. the actor is rarely shirtless on the show, maybe he was once but i don't remember it ever happening, so they just need someone to take his place.
[R94] people wanted calista's character back, so they managed to get her to do some cameons. i don't think anyone was asking for peter's character to return
by Anonymous | reply 95 | June 9, 2020 2:53 PM |
R95 I was. Love Peter.

by Anonymous | reply 97 | June 9, 2020 3:18 PM |
r97 What episode of Days was that
by Anonymous | reply 98 | June 9, 2020 3:20 PM |
I liked Hartley as Elongated Man. Added much needed humor to the dour proceedings on the Flash. Nonetheless, I dropped the show a year ago when they brought in Barry's daughter from the future. Show had been tedious for a while and the more convoluted they made it, the less I enjoyed it.
First two seasons of Supergirl were great. Season Three was so so. The last two have been awful. Don't plan to watch when it returns for the fall.
Both shows seem more interested in special effects than plot.
All that said, really excited about the new Superman and Lois series. But given that it's Berlanti's team doing it, I suspect they'll figure out how to fuck it up pretty quickly.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | June 9, 2020 3:48 PM |
Why don't they like the actress who plays Iris? Please don't say it's because she's black.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | June 9, 2020 3:51 PM |
This is why celebrities need to stay away from Twitter.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | June 9, 2020 3:55 PM |
I was unsure about Stargirl but decided to give it a try because I have always been more of a fan of the JSA. I have been pleasantly surprised so far - I've really been enjoying it. I was surprised the third episode got as dark as it did, but that's not a complaint. I love that their take on the Injustice Society so far as well.
Also, still loving Legends of Tomorrow - I thought this season, while not my favorite - was still better than anything on The Flash in recent memory.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | June 9, 2020 3:56 PM |
I can no longer abide 'Legends of Pansexuality.'
No gay men ever anywhere on a Berlanti show.
by Anonymous | reply 103 | June 9, 2020 4:26 PM |
the few gay men that show up are turned into background poorly written characters
by Anonymous | reply 104 | June 9, 2020 4:31 PM |
No one watches The Flash? I thought it was one of the CW's most popular shows.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | June 9, 2020 4:39 PM |
R105 it is the most watched, with supernatural being the 2nd most watched. both shows have a lot of people disliking what has become of the show tho. they still watch in hopes it'll get better. with supernatural, it's its final season, so they're just watching to see how it ends. but with the flash, it's mostly people watching hoping the show will go back to its s1 glory
by Anonymous | reply 106 | June 9, 2020 4:44 PM |
See all the white racists say he should've stayed away from Twitter so his real self didn't have to get exposed. I'll never trust another white person again. I'm starting to side eye that sweet old lady next door who bakes me cookies.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | June 9, 2020 4:45 PM |
R107 that's one of the things really pissing me off about all this. the amount of people going on about how he should've deleted those tweets before getting on the flash or how he should know not keep those things off social media. how about just not saying those things at all?
by Anonymous | reply 108 | June 9, 2020 4:49 PM |
[quote]It's not just Iris. Lotsof black characters from the Arrowverse have had racist fans attack them
Mechad Brooks who plays Jimmy Olsen on Supergirl said he's had racist interactions with fans and someone tried to explain it away that he's rude to fans and that is why he's treated the way he is.
[quote]that's one of the things really pissing me off about all this. the amount of people going on about how he should've deleted those tweets before getting on the flash or how he should know not keep those things off social media. how about just not saying those things at all?
When actors audition they are now asked for their social media handles so that casting agents can see how many followers they have. I would think common sense would tell actors to make sure their socials are impeccable so that things like this Sawyer situation doesn't come up. The problem, however, is that these people lack actual insight so they are clueless about how these tweets or IG or Facebook posts come across as racist, homophobic, sexist, etc. To them it's just jokes.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | June 9, 2020 4:54 PM |
R109 mechad got a LOT of ate from fans that was basically because of shipping. supergirl has a toxic fandom that insists kara and lena should be a couple, and they'll hate on anyone that gets in the way. i think melissa's ex husband blake is the only one that didn't get hated on when he was there for a few episodes as a romantic interest. other than that, every guy that played a romantic interest got a huge amount of hate from the fans, including melissa's husband chris. mechad got lots of hate because of some scene where his character kisses lena. the fandom in general didn't like the character for being turned into some type of vigilante, but then him getting in between kara and lena made it much worse. meanwhile, the actual lesbian relationship going on in the show gets dust from the fans

[quote]In any even I doubt they aren firing him because of what he said.
No woman would want to work on a show with him after he's making "jokes" about cutting off homeless women's breasts?
That's not funny, that's just sick.
[quote]I would think common sense would tell actors to make sure their socials are impeccable so that things like this Sawyer situation doesn't come up.
That's the thing, they do go through all of this with them and the actors simply choose not to care. I'd delete all my tweets completely and start fresh if I were one of them because who can remember a one off tweet from a decade ago or longer at this point.
[quote]mechad got a LOT of ate from fans that was basically because of shipping.
Mechad, Candice, Kat Graham, Vanessa Morgan, Ashleigh Murray etc. have all tweeted or talked about the hate they received from fans or writers on their respective shows.
Fans are "fine" with these characters as long as they're never developed to have personalities and most important of all don't have any romantic relationships with white characters. It's like when Freema Agyeman was the first black "companion" on Doctor Who. Many people wrote off the hate of her character because of the mere possibility she could have a romantic relationship with the lead but they were also throwing many nasty, racist comments at her before she even opened her mouth.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | June 9, 2020 5:24 PM |
What about the biracial "bisexual" (LOL!!!!) Wally West on FLASH?
Has he been racially hated on?
by Anonymous | reply 112 | June 9, 2020 6:12 PM |
he hasn't said anything i don't think, and he left on his own accord because he wanted to focus on music. but the character was poorly used, constantly left out of plots he should be in, and always sent off somewhere else, like another earth, and written out because they didn't need a metahuman sidekick helping the flash, because that'd deem the flash less useful, and then they bring in hartley's character to be the flash's sidekick

I really enjoyed the first three episodes, and there is an added bonus: a lot of DILFs amongst all the actors playing the dads, including Luke Wilson.
[quote] Also, still loving Legends of Tomorrow - I thought this season, while not my favorite - was still better than anything on The Flash in recent memory.
It’s gotten a bit too silly but I like most of the actors and characters. The recent episode parodying Friends/Downton Abbey/Star Trek was one of their all time best, and Tala Ashe who plays Zari is consistently MVP. I’m sad about the two characters who are exiting as per last week’s season finale. The actress playing adult Astra is just awful and has just one expression, which is rolling her eyes while smirking.

I'm not defending him because the tweets are pretty sick and all, but who scrolls through 10+ years of a C-list actor's tweets looking for dirt to get him "cancelled"? Or did they just go to the search bar and type "@HarleySawyer black," "@HarleySawyer gay," "@HarleySawyer tits," etc., to see all the times he's used those words and in what context? Regardless, these people have way too much time on their hands.

Tala Ashe is totally an MVP on Legends, I agree. I did like Zari 1.0 better, but 2.0 has grown on me and I think she's great regardless of the role. Glad to know Berhad (I don't know the actor's name) is sticking around next season - very sexy. I wish he and Nate would make out.

That's what I don't understand. Who has that kind of time on their hands? Is Hartley Sawyer a racist sexist homophobe or someone with a bad sense of humor? The problem with cancel culture is that no one's hands are clean.

I find that funny since Supergirl's special effects are terrible now.
[Quote] All that said, really excited about the new Superman and Lois series. But given that it's Berlanti's team doing it, I suspect they'll figure out how to fuck it up pretty quickly.
Cast is pretty bland. But the script for the pilot leaked and apparently it's good. But it will inevitably go downhill.
[Quote] with supernatural being the 2nd most watched.
That would be Batwoman.
[Quote] supergirl has a toxic fandom that insists kara and lena should be a couple, and they'll hate on anyone that gets in the way.
They lost their shit when the cast made fun of them in an interview and then started bashing Melissa, bringing up her nudes. And now she hates them.
[Quote] Mechad, Candice, Kat Graham, Vanessa Morgan, Ashleigh Murray etc. have all tweeted or talked about the hate they received from fans or writers on their respective shows.
And so has the actress who plays Sophie. They wanted her killed off after just a couple of episodes and replaced with another woman who had only been in one episode.

R137: Let's be serious, Berlanti is awful writing gay roles but he hires a lot of openly gay actors. It's absurd to pretend he is a self hated homophobe.
And writing very bad gay characters or storylines is pretty common on gay showrunners and screenplayers. We have that awful homophobic storyline in the first season of Quantico, that british tv show where the creator thought it was a fantastic idea if the gay character marry a woman, the way Teen Wolf put gay characters on the sides making them tokens for seasons.
And then you have a straight writer like the one on Spartacus that refused to apologize for his gay characters (even when a big part of the fandom were straight men) and he treated them like the rest of characters, some died (but exactly the same with beloved straight characters) unlike the tragic death of a gay character that happened in a lot of supposedly pro-gay shows
by Anonymous | reply 147 | June 10, 2020 5:43 PM |
Spartacus is really not a great example. When it started they made a big deal about having a gay gladiator. Spoilers. He was killed after only a few episodes and his twink partner was killed the following episode. That was the end of that. The second 'prequel" season brought back that dead gladiator but did nothing with him. The final two seasons made up for it with a good gay relationship.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | June 10, 2020 5:48 PM |
R146: And they killed Spartacus best friend in the same season.
They had gay characters in every season, some died, but Nassir and Agron survived at the end of the show.
It's not about making gay characters perfect and portray "good examples" it's about treating gay characters the same way you treat the straight ones.
The gay characters in Shameless are totally disfuntional and their relationship is toxic (and works thanks to the great chemistry of the actors) but the rest of the characters are disfunctional and messy too
by Anonymous | reply 149 | June 10, 2020 5:58 PM |
I'm sure if Berlanti ever allowed an openly gay male character on one of his shows, he'd quickly saddle that character with full blown AIDS or just have a super villain murder him.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | June 10, 2020 6:29 PM |
He had plenty of opportunity to have a central gay character on these shows. Diggle on Arrow, Cisco on Flash, Wynn on Supergirl.
by Anonymous | reply 151 | June 10, 2020 6:31 PM |
Berlanti's gays are NOT as good as the straight, lesbian, pan characters.
It IS homophobia.

[quote]I'm sure Berlanti applauded Chyler's bravery in coming out but if a male actor had come out as gay as opposed to trans, then you can bet Berlanti would have given him his walking papers.
Not only has he constantly hired openly gay actors as R147 said, he has even gone out of his way to make comic book characters who weren't gay, gay, to have more gay content on his projects like Captain Cold played by Wentworth Miller on Flash/Legends of Tomorrow or Negative Man played by Matt Bomer on Doom Patrol. Also, unlike when Constantine was on NBC, the character was openly bisexual on the CW in Legends of Tomorrow.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | June 10, 2020 7:23 PM |
he makes non gay characters gay, and used plenty of gay characters, but they tend to always be sidelines. constantine is openly bi, but has had more scenes with women that with men. actually he's had a scene with the boyfriend he had at the start, and after that it was some stuff alluding he and gary got together, but on screen it's always him and women

NOW Constantine is IN LOVE with the Instagram Yari.
Heterosexual relationships = Loving and lasting.
Lesbian relationships = Loving and lasting.
Homosexual relationships among MEN = Mere sex and transient.

Mr Terrific had more on screen romantic relationships than either Wild Dog or the Dinah Canary in Arrow; and there's GA's gay son William, who was prominent towards the end. However, the lesbian quotient on Black Lightning, Supergirl, Legends and Batwoman is massive.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | June 10, 2020 9:39 PM |

He was a neutered minstrel.

Dinah had a husband she loved AND a boyfriend later.

[quote]Captain Cold...gone after a season. A short season at that.

[quote]Negative Man...what? 7 episodes??
He was in almost every episode of the 15 episode series whether it's Matt Bomer playing him or Matthew Zuk with his voice. He's a regular cast member and every cast member including that one has had their own spotlight episodes which doesn't involve most of the others?
[quote]Pied Piper...3 episodes?
He just returned again. He's a villain. He's not their friend. There's no reason for him to be a regular.
You could easily look all of this stuff up instead of exaggerating to make some kind of a point.

There are permanent, lead, long-standing lesbian characters on the four shows I named, R166, who have been in practically every episode and all of whom have their own, sometimes changing love interests. There is not one gay character in the whole Arrowverse who comes remotely close. Mr Terrific comes closest, a consistently gay character across several seasons with at least two relationships. Otherwise its Constantine's single episode with an ex-boyfriend and half a dozen appearances by Citizen Cold and the Ray (the latter was I think killed off in Crisis, maybe Cold as well).
by Anonymous | reply 167 | June 11, 2020 8:10 AM |

You can't really blame viewers for shipping Supergirl and Lena. Their relationship has been more developed than any of Kara's love interests. Plus they have more chemistry. Same on Legends. Nate had much more chemistry with Ray then he had with Zari or Vixen.

All of these shows are ratings disasters. This includes Supergirl, which now has less than 20% of its Season 1 rating. Batwoman had an average of 1.65 million viewers per episode, which is awful for a debuting season. Black Lightning is the worst of bunch.

R183 not much. afaik he's been looking for a new girlfriend. his last one was a fangirl he met through instagram, chances are so will the next. he's not that good of an actor, so noah replacing him was pretty spot on, they're both cardboard cutouts. but jake has always had rumors of being hard to work with. probably big headed from being a disney child star. the few projects he's been in since the fosters don't seem to bleep on anyone's radar

R205 Well, perhaps you would feel differently about it if one of his comments included cutting gay men's cocks off. I'm at a loss here for what some find funny. He deserves to be fired for complete stupidity. He was a working actor when he made those tweets. I've made plenty of off-color jokes, but never in public.
by Anonymous | reply 217 | August 25, 2020 1:11 AM |
It's being rumored that an actor who used to be on the show may possibly take over the role of Ralph.
Looks like Grant has started working out with KJ Apa's friend/"personal trainer" Alex.
by Anonymous | reply 218 | August 25, 2020 1:37 AM |
[Quote] but they will also leave it open for Ralph to possibly come back again one day.
How many seasons is GG planning on doing?
by Anonymous | reply 219 | August 25, 2020 2:36 AM |
Grant needs to show more ass.
by Anonymous | reply 220 | August 25, 2020 2:37 AM |
R219 i think so far he has signed for 2 more seasons. this is his only claim to fame, he's never really had that big of a career. glee is the only other thing i ever saw him in. so chances are he'll keep doing it for as long as the network renews it
by Anonymous | reply 221 | August 25, 2020 7:34 AM |
Even though I stopped watching this mess. I follow these threads. So I decided to look up Grant on IMDB. Dude, has nothing else going on. He's gonna ride Flash until the wheels fall off.

I'm sure he could find something to do on Netflix....

The showrunner for the Flash has said that they will deal with the current ongoing calls for police reform and changes on the show. In a storyline involving Joe.

I'd rather my superhero shows not tackle real world issues
by Anonymous | reply 225 | September 11, 2020 9:59 PM |
I'm already cringing about how sanctimonious and heavy-handed it will inevitably be. West-dominated subplots are always unutterably tedious anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 226 | September 11, 2020 10:33 PM |
R225 too late!
by Anonymous | reply 227 | September 12, 2020 2:31 AM |
Has Hartley signed up to film scenes for Sean Cody yet?
by Anonymous | reply 228 | September 12, 2020 2:51 AM |
Is there just one Brit in the planet who isn’t completely deformed looking?
Wtf is wrong with his fucking skull and lips. He has a forehead like a fucking AWNING.
by Anonymous | reply 229 | September 12, 2020 3:17 AM |
It's funny that this thread started in June, but meanwhile, the Katy Perry flop thread has already exceeded the replies on this by a lot and it was started a week ago. I guess this guy Hartley, despite being attractive, isn't so popular. These tweets may ruin what little of a "career" he had left if our lack of interest in him is any indication. I personally had no idea who he was until I saw this thread, FWIW.
by Anonymous | reply 230 | September 12, 2020 3:21 AM |
R229 he's not a brit tho?
R230 practically no one knew who he was prior to being on the flash, despite him having been in other acting projects. katy's been an international pop star for over a decade. so yeah, a thread about her is going to surpass a d list actor on a show that airs on the cw
by Anonymous | reply 231 | September 12, 2020 7:28 AM |
Is he still thankful for us holding him accountable?

Darin Brooks is goofy cute enough to play Ralph
by Anonymous | reply 233 | September 12, 2020 2:33 PM |
Darin Brooks has not aged well.
by Anonymous | reply 234 | September 12, 2020 3:11 PM |
R234 Darin looks fine to me.🤷🏽♂️
by Anonymous | reply 235 | September 12, 2020 3:21 PM |
Here is a pic of Darrin when he was on Days of our Lives, right before Blue Mountain State. Baby has aged horribly. And wears a wig.

A lot of the hunks came back to soaps either too bulked up or chubby; they need 3 months in the gym, a hairstylist, and an eating plan.
It'll be amazing once this is over and people can go back to gyms; it'll be like January for a whole year; though, I don't take any kind of return to normalcy as a given.

Looks like Caity has ruffled some feathers with her latest tweet 😕
by Anonymous | reply 239 | September 19, 2020 11:50 AM |
What is wrong with her tweets?
by Anonymous | reply 240 | September 19, 2020 1:33 PM |
R240 some think she's a Trump supporter, while others think this shows her privilege and that she's out of touch with her lesbian/bi fans.
by Anonymous | reply 241 | September 19, 2020 1:38 PM |
Oh okay, thanks. I guess I didn't get that from her tweet. Just seems to me that she's trying not to alienate anyone.
by Anonymous | reply 242 | September 19, 2020 1:41 PM |
R242 honestly that was my interpretation too. She's right about twitter not being the best platform for what she's trying to say.
by Anonymous | reply 243 | September 19, 2020 1:51 PM |
The current showrunner wants to remind people that he is committed to incorporating social justice topics into the new season of the Flash tv show.
by Anonymous | reply 244 | September 19, 2020 6:49 PM |
r244. It's pretty much expected from CW superhero shows. Arrow dealt with political & police corruption and Supergirl had the whole Deplorables arc.
by Anonymous | reply 245 | September 19, 2020 6:57 PM |
And that is one of the reasons why I stopped watching R245. I just want my superheroes fighting the legion of doom and other crazy supervillains. I want true fantasy and an escape from the real world. Those shows, especially Supergirl during the deplorable arc, just depressed me.
by Anonymous | reply 246 | September 19, 2020 7:05 PM |
R72, you can't speak for all the fans.
You can, however, speak for me. Ever since the karaoke night in season 1, I've been team Barry and Caitlin.
by Anonymous | reply 247 | September 19, 2020 7:34 PM |
R237 No, he didn't age horribly, he aged like a normal person. People are getting so used to surgery that didn't realize a normal person looking his age. And he looks perfectly fine
by Anonymous | reply 248 | September 19, 2020 7:55 PM |
R248 has cataracts.

by Anonymous | reply 250 | September 19, 2020 8:31 PM |

should've ended when cbs cancelled it.
hilarious that as soon as the cw was allowed to start making a show about superman they immediately ditched supergirl
by Anonymous | reply 258 | September 23, 2020 7:43 AM |
R258 Six seasons is the standard for most CW shows. And Melissa just had a baby. The Superman show doesn't really have anything to do with it. And the Canaries spin-off could still be happening too.
by Anonymous | reply 259 | September 23, 2020 12:20 PM |
Take the Supergirl budget to supplement the F/X budget of the other shows.
I wish they all had the quality of Stargirl, season 1.

Would be nice if Calista returned for the finale
by Anonymous | reply 263 | September 23, 2020 1:18 PM |
R263 Cat was the best thing about season one.
by Anonymous | reply 264 | September 23, 2020 2:41 PM |
Supergirl show lost a lot when Calista didn't stay with the series.
Cat Grant was so much more interesting than Lena Luthor.
Hope Calista makes a return visit sometime in this final season. (But given that she'd have to do 14-day quarantine to film in Vancouver, it may not be worth it to her).
by Anonymous | reply 265 | September 24, 2020 5:15 AM |
[Quote] Supergirl show lost a lot when Calista didn't stay with the series.
I know they didn't have a choice. But Supergirl should have stayed on CBS.
by Anonymous | reply 266 | September 24, 2020 6:08 AM |
Supergirl didn't have a choice about staying on CBS, but it did have a choice on whether to continue filming in Los Angeles. If they hadn't moved to Vancouver when they moved to the CW, Calista would have stayed.
by Anonymous | reply 267 | September 24, 2020 6:25 AM |
They moved to Vancouver to save money.
by Anonymous | reply 268 | September 24, 2020 6:28 AM |
R268 isn't that always the reason to film in Vancouver 😄
by Anonymous | reply 269 | September 24, 2020 6:42 AM |
yeah, same reason so much is filmed in georgia.
both calista as well as peter facinelli refused to move to vancouver to film the show, so the characters were written out. i don't think they even gave a proper writing out to peter's character, i think they just acted as if he no longer existed
by Anonymous | reply 270 | September 24, 2020 7:55 AM |
R270 They did the same thing to Adrian Pasdar's character. He just disappeared
by Anonymous | reply 271 | September 24, 2020 11:52 AM |
R271 There have been speculation/rumors that his character may pop up on the new Superman and Lois tv show.
by Anonymous | reply 272 | September 24, 2020 12:38 PM |
Filming in Vancouver makes those shows look so drab. It only works for Supernatural.
by Anonymous | reply 273 | September 24, 2020 1:55 PM |
R273 True, it's always raining
by Anonymous | reply 274 | September 24, 2020 1:59 PM |
R272 wouldn't surprise me. But it won't be Adrian playing him. It's the same deal with Lex and Mercy Graves.
by Anonymous | reply 275 | September 24, 2020 6:07 PM |
Again, I thank you for holding me accountable.
by Anonymous | reply 276 | September 24, 2020 6:09 PM |
So, their solution to write off the character was having him suffer an awful disfigurating accident, and then make him look like some robot to hide the face and change the voice, before sending him off with his romantic interest.
by Anonymous | reply 277 | March 20, 2021 4:00 PM |
Supposedly he'll be recast later
by Anonymous | reply 278 | March 20, 2021 5:00 PM |
I think Sue Dibney is supposed to show up again in another episode though I'm not 100% sure on that. She originally was supposed to have a bigger storyline this season until the Hartley Sawyer thing happened.
