Social Media Going After Mark Wahlberg For Past Crimes Against Blacks

It all began when Mark Wahlberg tweeted

"The murder of George Floyd is heartbreaking. We must all work together to fix this problem. I'm praying for all of us. God bless. #blacklivesmatter"

Now social media is being flooded with his past crimes against the Black Community

Wikipedia has an entire section on his page entitled "Hate Crimes"

by Anonymousreply 94June 14, 2020 9:13 AM

great!

by Anonymousreply 1June 7, 2020 7:43 PM

Wahlberg is also a Trump supporter. Good thing he’s getting called out since he apparently hasn’t learned from his past crimes.

by Anonymousreply 2June 7, 2020 7:45 PM

His wikipedia page is now completely wiped except for his acting and hosting credits.

That right wing motherfucker has gotten away with that shit for way too long. I hope they’re also going after him for his hate crime of the Vietnamese man, not just black folks.

by Anonymousreply 4June 7, 2020 7:46 PM

This little southie thug has gotten a pass for far too long.

by Anonymousreply 5June 7, 2020 9:15 PM

Mark Wahlberg must REALLY want to hear his name be spoken to have posted that tweet. Knowing his own past, how could he not have a moment of self-reflection?

by Anonymousreply 6June 7, 2020 9:23 PM

We need a one week moratorium on all social media.

Everybody needs one week to let their brains reset to thinking for themselves.

These smart phones have turned many people’s brains into mashed potatoes. I have personally seen it happen to coworkers. It’s out of control.

by Anonymousreply 7June 7, 2020 9:37 PM

He's gone so far as to try and have it expunged and only in that attempt did he ever actually apologize for what he had done. He's never been truly remorseful. He's one of those "God forgives me" assholes, so never feels he should address what he had done and how he has the nerve to be a Republican despite having his garbage history not keep him from being successful in LIBERAL Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 8June 7, 2020 9:37 PM

People forget how utterly dumb this guy is. I remember back when he was just an underwear model and heard he was trying to become a serious actor. It seemed SO unlikely to happen. He was seen as this dopey homo-fetishized goon. There was even stuff about him in the papers when he got cast in The Basketball Diaries. Apparently Leo D really thought he was too stupid to be an actor and got upset that he was in it.

So stupid is as stupid does.

by Anonymousreply 9June 7, 2020 9:43 PM

I think he needs to be held accountable also for that shitty ass transformer movie.

by Anonymousreply 10June 7, 2020 9:48 PM

Uh, what crimes?

by Anonymousreply 11June 7, 2020 9:50 PM

Racial incidents In June 1986, Wahlberg and three friends chased after three black children while yelling "Kill the nigger, kill the nigger" and throwing rocks at them.[78] The next day, Wahlberg and others followed a group of mostly black fourth graders (including one of the victims from the previous day) taking a field trip on a beach, yelled racial epithets at them, threw rocks at them, and "summoned other white males who joined" in the harassment.[79][78] In August 1986, civil action was filed against Wahlberg for violating the civil rights of his victims, and the case was settled the next month.[80][81][82]

In April 1988, Wahlberg assaulted a middle-aged Vietnamese man on the street, calling him a "Vietnam fucking shit" and knocking him unconscious with a large wooden stick. Wahlberg attacked a second Vietnamese man later the same day, punching him in the eye. When Wahlberg was arrested and returned to the scene of the first assault, he told police officers: "I'll tell you now that's the mother-fucker whose head I split open."[83] Investigators also noted that Wahlberg "made numerous unsolicited racial statements about 'gooks' and 'slant-eyed gooks'".[84][85] Wahlberg was charged with attempted murder, pleaded guilty to felony assault, and was sentenced to two years in jail, but served only 45 days of his sentence.[84][86] Wahlberg believed he had left the second victim (named Johnny Trinh) permanently blind in one eye, though Trinh stated that he had lost his eye in the Vietnam War, while serving in the South Vietnamese Army, alongside American troops.[87][82][84][85]

In August 1992, Wahlberg fractured the jaw of his neighbor, Robert Crehan, in an attack.[88] Court documents state that in 1992, Wahlberg "without provocation or cause, viciously and repeatedly kicked" Crehan in the face while another man held the victim on the ground. Wahlberg's attorney claimed that Wahlberg, and fellow attacker Derek McCall, who is black, were provoked after McCall was called a racial slur by Crehan.[89]

In 2006, Wahlberg said the right thing for him to do would be to meet with Trinh and make amends, though he had not done so.[86] In 2016, while requesting a pardon for his conviction for the assault on Trinh, Wahlberg said he had met with Trinh and apologized "for those horrific acts." Trinh released a public statement forgiving Wahlberg.[87][90]

In 2014, Wahlberg applied for a pardon for his convictions.[91][92] His pardon application engendered controversy.[84] According to the BBC, the debate about his suitability for a pardon raised "difficult issues, with the arguments on both sides being far-reaching and complex".[93]

One of the black children attacked by Wahlberg opposed the pardon, saying: "a racist will always be a racist."[94] Judith Beals, who had been the prosecutor in some of the cases, argued that "Wahlberg has never acknowledged the racial nature of his crimes" and that a pardon would undermine Wahlberg's charity work, saying: "a formal public pardon would highlight all too clearly that if you are white and a movie star, a different standard applies. Is that really what Wahlberg wants?"[95]

In 2016, Wahlberg said that he regretted his attempt to obtain a pardon, and his petition was closed after he failed to answer a request from the pardon board as to whether he wanted it to remain open.[

I remember when he said Janet Jackson looked like a monkey on Howard Stern. Everyone was quite shocked. The dude is dumb as a box of rocks.

by Anonymousreply 15June 7, 2020 9:58 PM

R13, I recall that. I only wish he had said it now so we wouldn't have to see another shit project from him. You know he'd be done if he made that comment now.

by Anonymousreply 16June 7, 2020 9:58 PM

R11 = Rip Van Winkle

by Anonymousreply 17June 7, 2020 10:00 PM

He would've been the guy rioting to keep Boston schools segregated. He's garbage and probably still has one of Calvin Klein's gray pubes in his throat.

by Anonymousreply 18June 7, 2020 10:05 PM

Our local grocery stores are featuring Wahlburgers. Will that happen now?

by Anonymousreply 19June 7, 2020 10:37 PM

Oddly, though, rumor in Boston was that for a time (when he was a juvenile in the legal sense of the word and just back from Deer Island) his sugar daddy was a black queen with a shop off of Charles Street on Beacon Hill.

Also that he frequented "The Block" - Boston's hustler hotspot in the Back Bay - at an early age with his alleged earnings used to pay for his drug habit.

by Anonymousreply 20June 7, 2020 11:22 PM

For reasons unknown, he's trying to change his image (without really changing his core self). Nobody is even thinking about him except when he applies for a pardon or posts #blacklivesmatter. Then, people start thinking: "Didn't this guy _____ ?"

by Anonymousreply 21June 7, 2020 11:45 PM

Deplorables on various sites are complaining, “Why are people bringing up stuff he did in his youth? We should all be happy our pasts aren’t brought up.”

Um, how many people did you blind in your youth?

by Anonymousreply 22June 8, 2020 12:23 AM

Funny that the wiki section of his racism was renamed “Controversies.” What is the controversy exactly?

R5 Dorchester, but we get your point.

The Wahlbergs and Dorchester: A complicated story

By Simon Rios, WBUR Reporter

[bold]From “Tough Crowd” to “Pretty Special” Family[/bold]

Defenders of the Wahlbergs cast their critics as haters who want to drag down a successful family. But a legitimate beef with the family can be found among those who knew them as teen troublemakers.

“The Wahlbergs were a tough crowd in its day in Dorchester,” says Bill Walczak, a longtime Savin Hill resident and activist who co-founded the Codman Square Community Health Center. “I don’t think the Wahlbergs had any impact during their period of growing up that was positive on the neighborhood,” said Walczak, referring specifically to Mark, Donnie, and James.

“I moved right next to Savin Hill Park in 1981 and the Wahlbergs were part of a group of kids that used to go into the park and cause lots of problems. There were fights up there, there were tons of cases of beer and smashed bottles, and all sorts of problems that were involved with them in their teenagehood.”

And, Walczak said, there’s still glass on the ground at the park. But that was probably the least of it.

In 1988, Mark Wahlberg was convicted of assaulting two Vietnamese men and did a stint in jail for it. Nearly 30 years later, he petitioned the state Parole Board to scrub the crimes from his record. But the scrubbing never happened, and Wahlberg later said he regretted even raising the issue.

by Anonymousreply 29June 8, 2020 2:14 AM

by Anonymousreply 30June 8, 2020 2:47 AM

Anyone going after Mark Wahlberg for what he did 30 years ago needs to add Al Sharpton to their cancellation list.

by Anonymousreply 31June 8, 2020 2:50 AM

Donnie is a good guy and plays a bigger tole in the Wahlburgers buisness than Mark Wahlberg does. Mark's kind of snobby and doesnt have much time for his brothers.

I hope this doesn't fuck things up for them.

by Anonymousreply 35June 8, 2020 3:06 AM

Wake me up when Social Media goes after today's Black rap music artists for their current drug dealing , guns and gang activity. It gives them cred, so its okay.

by Anonymousreply 38June 8, 2020 3:14 AM

by Anonymousreply 57June 8, 2020 5:43 AM

by Anonymousreply 58June 8, 2020 5:45 AM

He can kindly fuck off, too.

Here's what I don't understand about racism.

I can say Trump looks like a fat cheeto and make fun of his mushroom dick and his tiny hands til the cows come home. No problem.

But when I say I think Don Cheadle resembles a silverback gorilla, that's racist. I don't mean it in a bad way at all . . . the dude's face just looks exactly like a gorilla.

by Anonymousreply 62June 8, 2020 6:06 AM

Don’t engage, R62, boys. It’s too easy.

by Anonymousreply 63June 8, 2020 6:10 AM

Yes, I do. Grew up in NYC in the 80s. My neighbors held up watermelons when he led a protest after Yusef Hawkins was murdered by people like Mark Wahlberg.

Al may be a lying sack of shit, but that's no where near as horrific as Wahlberg being a violent thug. Only an idiot would think it was the same or what you're doing: Trying to make Sharpton seem worse than that Southie thug.

by Anonymousreply 64June 8, 2020 6:14 AM

[quote]Al may be a lying sack of shit, but that's no where near as horrific as Wahlberg being a violent thug. Only an idiot would think it was the same or what you're doing: Trying to make Sharpton seem worse than that Southie thug.

That double standard raising its very ugly head. Sharpton wasn't just a "lying sack of shit", he incited an anti-Jewish pogrom in which Yankel Rosenbaum was butchered by the Murderer Lemrick Nelson for the sole "crime" of being identifiably Jewish.

Horrific is such a subjective concept.

by Anonymousreply 65June 8, 2020 6:20 AM

by Anonymousreply 66June 8, 2020 6:23 AM

And don't forget when the horrible idiot said that had he and his mates had been on the first plane to slam in to the World Trade Centre on 9/11 (they were booked on that flight but changed to another flight) they would have fought off the terrorists and saved the day. His is such a douche bag on so many levels.

Al Sharpton is a somewhat redeemed charlatan. Wahlberg, on the other hand, is a sociopath who got very, very lucky in life. He's one of those guys who teachers, social workers, cops, parole officers, neighbors, etc would say would either wind up dead or permanently incarcerated. He's shown no contrition or humility.

by Anonymousreply 88June 11, 2020 2:47 PM
