Cate Blanchett says she's a lezzy
Well then! During an Instagram Live chat between actress Cate Blanchett and her Mrs. America co-star Sarah Paulson, Blanchett made a surprising declaration. Blanchett declared “I am a lesbian,” sending the internet into a frenzy.
The clip itself has already become a much-shared meme, both for Blanchett’s non-sequitur delivery and Paulson’s dumbstruck reaction. It’s not entirely clear why Blanchett uttered the phrase. Paulson had said something about CBD oils, and viewers speculate that Blanchett may have read something from the live viewer chat.

It’s an unspoken thing that most middle-aged and senior Kinsey 1-3 women grow tired of men in their dotage, and by their golden/twilight years want more than to have to ‘mother’ by cleaning up after dick (withered or otherwise) and endure the scent of testosterone all over the house.
Older women cherish lasting peace & quiet, a spotless bathroom and an agreeable partner who cares reciprocally & equally. Who wants to grow old with a man who deep down wants a carer, when a pretty 30-something girl will make for a much more pleasant independent S.O.?
And isn’t it a statistic that single women & lesbians live the longest, happiest lives of any females?

R51 You are sort of not alone. I loathed Blanchett in most of her earlier roles and the first time she ever really won me over was Blue Jasmine. I've since also loved her in Carol and Truth.
I do have a funny Blanchett story. My partner and I went to see The Maids on stage performed by Blanchett & Isabelle Huppert. The only reason we went to see it was because we are both big fans of Huppert. Anyway we both thought Huppert was terrible in it, though Blanchett was reasonably good - at least she had stage presence. Poor Huppert struggled with all that internalisation which works well on film but not on stage.
We were seated in the middle three rows back from the stage and when the play ended the audience shot to their feet as they do applauding widely. My partner and I remained seated and politely clapped - neither of us were prepared to get on our feet and give what we had just sat through a standing ovation. Anyway, its going on and on as these audiences do as they are so starstruck and we just continued to sit there seated applauding politely (not a slow clap and not vigorous clapping either) and Blanchett's eyes met mine and she looked fucking rattled. I do find it funny thinking about it. If I'd hated the play I still would have applauded nicely and I don't approve of booing performers, I mean you can't like everything you see and it all looks like hard work.

R53, it's interesting what you say about Huppert. I've always admired her, too, but one of the worst film performances I've seen was hers in a Korean film, "In Another Country" (2012). It was just absolutely terrible. I can't imagine how that came about. Maybe it was the director? There was nothing really lacking in the material.
Whenever there's a standing ovation that I don't agree with and I'm in a row behind those standing (and thus can't be seen), I don't bother getting up, but if I'm in front, I just go along with it. It looks like too pointed a commentary otherwise, and I don't really care to insult actors by forgoing such a brief effort. I'm not finger-wagging you, though; I get it.

Cate's "accent" on Mrs. America is one of the most bizarre things I've ever heard. She used the same one on "Bernadette." I'm not saying she's a bad actor, but needs a dialect coach.

I wonder if Cate would work with Woody again? She has been very diplomatic in discussing it, which probably means yes. It seems like he’s going to call in favors for his next (last?) film given the multitude of very open interviews he has given the last week or two... surely Diane Keaton, ScarJo, Javier, Penelope, Alec Baldwin and Christopher Waltz are a phone call away after vocally supporting him repeatedly in the press. It would be a great fuck you to #dylanstruth and Mia to go out on something like that for his 50th film.

It will depend on the roles. He’s one of the few male directors who’s consistently written substantial roles for women - so while actresses might not jump on board to do a cameo for him, as they would have in the past, if it’s an important, dimensional role like in “Blue Jasmine,” some stars might sign on.

To me some people just can act. They get lost in the role, and Cate is one of them. Charlize Theron is another actress like that, which makes her even more compelling because she's beautiful. That sort of thing is usually hard to do for beautiful stars.
